I have eaten here several times. This time I must have been too late after the lunch rush ( 2:00 pm PST)The steak was very dry and the blue corn shells were also dried out. The black beans were just that, black beans. Gave them 4 stars cuz I know they usually do alot better.

Great Oaxacan food in Portland. The last time I had Oaxacan was when I was in LA. It seems to be a small family-run stall within a small building and the food is authentic and tasty. We got the mole plate and substituted the protein with nopalito (cactus) and added both queso fresco and melted cheese. The mole is light and fresh and I loved that there was enough nopalito for each bite. We also tried this tetela (blue corn tortilla wrapped veggie) creation and that was also amazing with their salsas. Will definitely be returning!

I stopped by Tierra del sol after a long night. I have to say this quesadilla was to die for! I scarfed it down in less than 5 minutes and probably scared the people sitting across from me. They have a few different options most of not all are gluten free. They have an inside and outside area to sit and eat. You can also grab a drink from the coffee shop across the street or get a cold beer from next door.

I ordered the Tetela de Frijol, a triangle concoction of deliciousness! I don't think I ever ate anything like it before and it was so rich with fresh seasonings and flavor. Love, loved it, which is why the plate is empty.

We asked the cashier for recommendations on our first visit to Tierra Del Sol. He recommended the mole enchiladas and the tlayuda. Both were excellent. The mole enchilada came with two chicken enchiladas with a zesty mole sauce for $14.75.The tlayuda comes with your choice of two meats. We ordered carne asada and carnitas, but wondered how that would taste when mixed together. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that they made half the tlayuda with each meat. The tortilla was crispy. Overall, it was pretty good and cost $24.50. It feeds two or three people. We also tried one picadita with carne asada, which was $8. We liked that it was a thicker tortilla than a taco and had sour cream. Although the prices were a little higher than many other local establishments that serve Mexican food, we enjoyed our visit. After eating here, we visited the pie shop next door, which was also very good.

They make their own tortillas. All the food tastes homemade and authentic. They are very nice and they do not rush you to order. They are patient and they listen to you and what you need. They let you take your time.

I've only had breakfasts here. I liked the chilaquiles with red sauce in the past, and really like their huevos rancheros

I appreciate that they are trying to be different with their organic blue corn tortillas, but they are not my favorite. I found them to be bland and a bit earthy in flavor. I had carne asada, pollo, and Al pastor. The meats were seemingly good quality. The Al pastor and pollo were quite good. The carne asada was tasty as well, but there were several chunks of gristle, which was very unfortunate. I also ordered chips and guacamole. The chips were good, but their guac was not my favorite either. It was a bit liquidy, but chunky with a strong lime flavor. Im sure the ingredients are nice and fresh and healthy, but I I definitely prefer a standard muy authentico taqueria.

I think their sister location is the most popular cart at the Mercado on SE Foster. I enjoyed the Blue Corn breakfast burrito, the bacon was diced rather than in strips which prevents taking one bite and the entire piece coming out. They offer cuisine from the Oaxacan region, the cart is elevated compared to standard Mexican food venues. The quality of eateries and the comfy outside seating make this an attractive venue.

I felt like having Mexican food (I am visiting from southern California), and thought I would try this place. It was just ok, but I may have just ordered the wrong thing. I ordered a bowl with steak. The menu said radishes and avocado on it, but there was only one slice of avocado and one slice of radish. Iceberg lettuce heavy. The steak , beans and rice were a satisfactory amount. I would try this place one more time before saying "no "
