Pomodoro's Cucina Italiana South Shore

My Italian friend and I came here to try the food! I thought it was bussing! They had awesome choices such as Tamato soup and spaghetti! My Italian friend got lasagna and exclaimed that it wasn't up to itaian standards! Reasonable price!

A friend wanted to eat at Pomodoro's. Walked in, saw 4 employees, none of which said a word to us. We waited a bit and I suggested we leave. We walked to the parking lot and my friend said we walked into the wrong door. Apparently we entered the bar entrance. This does not excuse the complete lack of customer courtesy when not one of four employees acknowledged our presence. I have to stop here to mention the first smell that hit us was not flavorful Italian food but of pure bleach. I did not want to eat here as my gut feeling told me this was absolutely the wrong thing to do. Friend was adamant we stay. We were seated in the nearly empty restaurant. I think there were two other tables. Our server took our drink order. She stated wine was not on the happy hour list but the friend's drink was. Ordered the clam linguini. The small serving was bland and flavorless with three clams. There was no hint of oregano as listed on the menu. It was like they opened a can of clams from the grocery store, heated with olive oil and served it on a plate. Friend's lasagna was horrible. She stated it tasted of ground chicken/turkey, was white and definitely not "herbed flavored ground beef." She also said their was a meat layer of sliced chicken which was odd. No beef. No herbs. No flavor. Even the garlic bread had little to no flavor. Strangest thing for an Italian restaurant. Salad was okay. Spoke to the manager Shane. Bless his heart. The interaction was less than stellar where he eluded we must have been ignored on purpose as "none of my seasoned staff would ever treat customers that way." Okay then. I was embarrassed for him in his lack of conversational and customer service skills. Not even halfway through our meal, we were presented with the check. Never had that happen before unless it was an IHOP or something like that. Friend's happy hour drink was $12. Not exactly what one would think are happy hour prices for a poorly made drink. I'd had a busy day and hadn't eaten. I was starved and certainly was looking forward to great Italian food. Sadly this was not the case. I ate the small, bland portion anyway as my low blood sugar demanded it. I wouldn't go back and I'm giving one star only because I have to do so. If you want fabulous Italian food go to Frenchy's on NASA, Angelo's on Bay Area, basically anywhere but here.

Pomodoro's is a neighborhood institution. A blessing for the South Shore Harbour neighborhood. The pasta is to-die-for good, but the Pizza, with its Brooklyn style crust, is what dominates Instagram. Don't skip the Pappardelle Carbonara, you have to request it this way, or the extremely civilized Insalata Pomodoro di Mare. Pomodoro's Tuscan cooking has breadth and depth at once. I highly recommend the Happy Hour crowd at the bar. It has a great atmosphere and one of the best bar staffs anywhere in Texas.

Absolutely fantastic place!!! Wejust found out about them recently, and now have become regulars... The staff is amazing, and Shane the manager makes everybody feel like family... We were in there last night, and there was live music and had a fantastic time with good friends, I recommend them highly!!!

First timer here! Very nice experience. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. Our drinks were great. For an appetizer we share the baked clams. I wish they were a little bigger in size but great flavor. I had the diver scallops with pesto cream and my husband had the veal parmigiana. We were both very happy. Shane came to the table which I always like the attentiveness of the staff. Very nice guy! Mangia! And never forget to order the cannoli! Which was spot on! This NJ Italian transplant was happy!

Food is great and the entertainment when Bubba McNeely sings in the wine bar next door is very entertaining.

Always great. Shane takes great care of every guest. Daily specials are delicious. Also try the thin crust pizza.

Oh Pomodoro's, what have you done? We've really been enjoying the restaurant since the expansion, but last night's dinner was not a good experience. 1. Made 6:30 reservation earlier in the week, but was sat at table near door, feeling the cold every time it opened. 2. Server came to table to greet us the first time holding used, dirty plates on her way to the kitchen. 3. I ordered Snapper Josephine, which I would not have ordered if the menu had indicated that it is wood-grilled, as I do not care for smokey flavor on fish. The scant pasta was swimming in sauce, with the fish lost on top. Side-by-side would have been preferable. 4. Lettuce in the Caesar salad was wilted. This has been a great restaurant. Service and food was very disappointing last night. Pappas Seafood prices but not Pappas quality.

Do not like being charged for credit card use. Individuals who own a small business don't even do this.... Food is just ok and bar is tied up with regulars and it's hard to get service when being a patron at those times.

Great service & the food is outstanding! I prefer the Pineloch location but this one is closer. Yum!!!
