I've been going to Tarbells for years. We've celebrated many special occasions there. So, I was happy when they acquired the wine shop next door. Another great option that's slightly more casual but just as good. Fantastic food and drink options. I just wish I had more money to blow on wine !! Fantastic selection.

I'm unsure why I haven't yet written a review about one of my favorite places in Arizona. This is one of those places that make living here so good. Sure, you can go to Total Wine, or even Safeway, but if you truly appreciate wine, this is the spot. Why? The people who work here are passionate about their work, and that comes out in every interaction. I know more about wine than most people, but find it pointless to make my own selections when I'm able to learn so much from the amazing staff at The Wine Store at Tarbell's. I've discovered so many amazing wines and spirits that I would never have experienced.Keeping it real, their prices are a bit higher than Total Wine, but you're not getting the unique selection and curation offered by these amazing people. As a wine club member, their prices dip slightly below those at Total Wine, and I get 'free wine' every month. I don't and won't buy wine anywhere else, and would drive here from any part of the Valley if I had to. This is an incredible place run by incredible people that any wine and spirits lover would fall in love with as much as we have.

I quickly stopped in at the wine shop Thursday evening while in town for a couple of days. I was on a mission to get good AZ wine. There was a dinner happening in the wine space, but I was able to squeeze around the diners to access the shelves. There's a smaller than expected selection of AZ wine. Flying Leap was what I really wanted, and I was just as happy to buy a few bottles of Callahan. The location of the AZ shelf could also be improved, it's at the bottom corner, and really should be at eye level and more accessible to promote local producers. The biggest surprise was the shelf of Mexican wine! I know Baja has good wine, but spotted a bottle from Guanajuato and grabbed that to try.

Sorry Mark. I love ya, love your PBS presence, and follow you on IG, but the service here is mediocre.Food Service 101. Wipe down the bar especially when removing previous diners table ware. This lack of action is all too acceptable it seems.A pleasant greeting would be nice, along with a menu, instead of me having to request everything. You DO intend to sell me food and drink correct? So, based on the lack of attention to good service, I had my drink and decided against eating here.I understand, maybe not fully, that contract companies run the show at airports (HMS Host, SSP America, etc) but they can also run a fine name and a 5-Star brick and mortar into the ground.

Change the hours on Yelp and Google, so it reflects you aren't open on Sundays. Wasted time and trip.

Just like the Tavern, this place has been under my nose forever and I have never been. Stupid me. We were immediately greeted by the manager who I just wanted to huge!He clearly is my spirit animal or something because he offered me prosecco right off the bat! It was delish so we bought a bottle. Hubs got some beer as well and we just sat and spoke with the manager about events and tastings and what they are all about. He was telling us about his happenings and the Tavern's etc. Really nice guy.The wines are pricey, however, it is worth it for a special date night in, a gift or some other occasion. Or if you are a wine drinker who appreciates and can afford the nicer wine all the time..then that is your place. I would go back for tastings or for a nice bottle to share with friends for sure.

I had the pleasure of attending a winemaker dinner inside The Wine Store at Tarbell's, not only was everything delicious but I am so eager to come back and wineshop! By far one of the best local wine shops in the Scottsdale area.

Sweet goodness, I'm in heaven here! The ambience is perfect - trendy, casual, upscale - all at the same time. The wood paneled ceiling over the bar was stunning. The guitars signed by the likes of Billy Joel were great talking points. The tvs with football on made for a comfort feel. But the wine menu was anything but traditional. It had [albeit pricey] offerings from around the world. And the bartender was knowledgable about them all.I asked him about a French white that was listed as a wine by the glass. He told me it was comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc, which I don't typically care for. He explained that SVs out of France taste different than those out of Cali or New Zealand. And then he offered me a sample - it was delicious. I ended up ordering the glass and loved it.Towards the end of our drink the bartender overheard us talking about the entree pictures on Yelp and gave some suggestions for the house specialties at Tarbell's. He did not steer us wrong! The scotch beef and sausage pasta were to die for. He also connected us with a couple sitting near us who frequent both Tarbell's and The Wine Store - they recommended the cheesecake at Tarbell's for the caramel sauce. It was nice chatting with them as well.I really appreciate the atmosphere, quality wine, and great service at The Wine Store. Can't wait to come back soon!

Truly the best, really the ONLY wine store in Phoenix. This is my happy place. What makes it so great? Jason Taylor, who runs the shop is an extraordinary talent. He knows wine like no one else. Yes, they have very beautiful and expensive wines but he also has an incredible touch for finding the most phenomenal reasonably priced wines. Overall, the customer service cannot be beat and you will see wines here that you will find nowhere else. I can't say enough.
