This venue is beautiful - historic and charming! The chandeliers throughout the restaurant offer a very romantic vibe. Our waiter was cool and knowledgeable of the menu items. For starters, we had the tableside guacamole, which wasn't tableside, per se, but I did see the gentleman making it in the corner of the dining room. I liked that you could customize heat levels. We also ordered the beef skewers and it was the most decadent and flavorful piece of meat!! Must order! For our entrees, we ordered the skirt steak tacos and salmon. I highly recommend the Salmon, the skin was perfectly crisp yet tender and flavorful on the inside. The skirt steak looked delicious although they might consider larger tortillas compared to meat ratio. For dessert, they treated us to a pumpkin bread pudding - AMAZING - for my birthday. It was a nice send-off. 10/10 experience!

The Mission in Scottsdale, AZ, offers a captivating ambiance that transports you to a classical Mexican setting. Hanging chandeliers, stucco walls, and elegant seating with dark wooden tables create a luxurious feel. The food certainly matches the aesthetic, but due to the service and price, there are better options for a date night in both Scottsdale and Old Town.As you walk in, you'll feel like you've stepped into an old western film due to its beautiful rustic interior design. Unfortunately, because of its elegance the chandeliers make the space quite dark, and the effort to maximize seating makes it feel cramped. It's not ideal when you're seated next to another couple and can hear every word of their conversation. The menu is focused and specific, which can be a positive aspect. They stick to tacos and staple entrees. The cocktail menu however is quite extensive, offering a variety of liquor options including several margaritas, several mules, wine, beer, and tequila flights. We started with the tableside guac, which was very good. The chips and salsa were also enjoyable, with the salsa offering a nice kick. For our entrees, we had the salmon, which was good but not outstanding, the scallops, which were disappointingly rubbery and likely overcooked, and my personal favorite, the pulled pork tacos. The pulled pork tacos are the best value, given that all the taco plates are small street-style tacos. The pulled pork covered in lovely red sauce and was served with a side of onions, cilantro, and white cheese. Now, let's talk about the service. Our server forgot five different items: drink orders three times, an add-on for one dish, and a substitution for another dish. Despite the restaurant not being super busy, the service was impressively bad. Although our server was nice and charismatic, his consistent forgetfulness overshadowed his charm.Between the lackluster service and the high price tag relative to portion sizes, The Mission is a solid three out of five.

We had a big group of 10 and tried to get a reservation - unfortunately they could not accommodate a large group but said they would try to put us near each other so I will acknowledge this as a caveat. When we got there, unsurprisingly, they could not seat us together and instead had a group of 4 on a regular table and a group of 6 (incl me) nearby on high tops with the same server. The high tops were not really that comfortable (a bit awkward for seating) - it was by the bar with a circular table combined with a longer rectangular table. There was a noticeable difference in pace of service - smaller group got chips and salsa before we did, they got their mains before we got our guac and they were paying and leaving before we got our mains. Really unfortunate - would really not recommend larger groups here. Our server did try to make it up to us and I think he comped us chips and salsa (?) and sent us home with extra warm chips with our leftovers haha. We got guac and ended up getting two for our group of 6 (they're $16.50 each oof), with one mild and one medium. It's actually a decent amount of guac in each, but we couldn't tell the difference in spiciness between the two. We got an assortment of drinks as well - the michelada mix was pretty tasty! As for food, I got the creekstone fillet ($54) which was very well cooked - the Oaxacan glaze was sweeter than I expected and the sweetness would probably prevent me from ordering it again. A coworker got the duck fried rice which they said was really good too. Another got tacos and the main complaint was that the tortillas were too smaller to properly pick up and eat as tacos. Overall, still good, slightly soured by the mismatch in timing between the two groups.

OMG what did I just experience?!! First and foremost our server Alfonso was fantastic! We felt heard, important and respected. He was super knowledgeable about the menu, the history of the restaurant and the chef which he tied into his recommendations. He was so passionate that we went with all of his recommendations and I mean all of them! The food was phenomenal! Not exactly traditional but I'm not mad about it. We celebrated my husband's birthday and they gave us complementary pumpkin bread pudding which was delicious!! I'm super excited to come and experience their dinner menu next. I'll definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants an incredible experience outside of the normal food scene.

The Mission is an upscale Mexican restaurant located next to/in a church in Old Town Scottsdale. They have a decent sized menu with a lot of different options. When I usually come here, I get their tacos because they are light and always taste great. I'm not usually a big fan of fish tacos but their mahi mahi tacos are delicious. We also go their chicken and steak tacos and they were great as well. I think they probably have the best tacos in the Old Town area but they are a bit more on the pricey side. I've had their other entrees as well like their chorizo porchetta and 18 oz Ribeye which have been great as well but I love their tacos. They also have a pretty decent size drink menu and a wide variety of tequilas. The staff are always great and super attentive and I would definitely recommend this place for a date night. Just make sure if you're going on a weekend that you have reservations because they get filled up pretty quick. If you do want to wait, they are located next to a couple of really cool cocktail bars so you could always grab a drink while you wait.

As you can see I last visited here in 2013. I love this place for lunch. I was here with my local friend. We arrived here around 11:30 am for lunch with my party of three. We requested to be seated in their rear garden area. We were seated at a nice table to the right. I started with my spicy Hibiscus margarita with Tequila bianco, pressed lime, agave, hibiscus & fantasma with salt for $17. All margaritas are $17. We shared and enjoyed the guacamole prepared table side for $16.50. See my video. We also shared and enjoyed the grilled street corn for $10. I enjoyed my usual Almejas Al Vapor Peruvian clam stew with clams, rock shrimp, chorizo, aji amarillo and roasted corn for $20. Peruvian clam stew is a rare find. Harrison M. was very friendly. He served our table very well. I discussed tequila brands with Harrison. My total bill was $146 less gratuity. We will definitely return here again for more Peruvian clam stew.

Decided to try this place on Saturday night without a reservation. We arrived at 4pm and was able to get a table right away. Menu during this time was limited to appetizers and tacos. It took over 5 minutes for our server to come to the table and when he did he was pleasant. We ordered tabel side guacamole which was kind of bland and Mexican street corn. The Mexican street corn had a little more flavor. For drinks I had the rose briar which was a cross between and old fashion and mojito. My date had tequila. They do have an extensive tequila assortment.

I came here based on a recommendation. I looked up reviews beforehand, and there was so much to choose from. The atmosphere of this place was great. It was buzzing. You can see the salt walls in the interior of the place. Of course, I had to order a drink, which was the Grapefruit Rose Mule. It was really good.I tried the rib eye, and that was very tender. The guacamole and street corn were just alright as I've had better elsewhere. The Peruvian duck fried rice, I would recommend. Overall, I think there should've been better service at this restaurant.
