Five Star Mexican Taco Grill

It's Taco Tuesday! Off to Five Star for some tacos which is close and nicely priced. There was only one other person dining and two others awaiting their take out orders. Like everyone else their prices have gone up. Their daily specials are still available at an increase. We ordered 5 tacos; 2 chicken and 3 shredded beef. Hubby wanted ground beef but all they had was the shredded beef. I helped myself to the salsa bar while waiting for our take out. Service was super quick and staff are nice. We were disappointed with our orders. The chicken was really salty. The shredded beef was beef crisps or the bottom of the pan. Very dry and crunchy. I added tomatoes to it which seemed to help the dryness and saltiness. No bueno! Too bad, we liked it at one time. Not sure if we will try it again or not. Maybe when they are busier and the food is fresher. Shared parking lot.

I always like to try places more than once. This was the 3 or fourth time and I think they raised their prices yet again. The $14.50/Menudo was a very small bowl with very little meat and served barely above room temperature. Same for the tepid bean & cheese burrito. Probably not going back there again. Still looking for good authentic Mexican food here around the cave creek area!

Meat cooked to death, Arizona roadkill. I actually should be giving this place two stars based on the food. But I love Jasmine and Oscar so much that I couldn't do that to them. Hopefully they'll read this review and start by seasoning the meat. I think what we had, some of the meat was left over from yesterday because it was so dried out and greasy. We didn't even eat it. I ended up talking with Jasmine on the way out and showed her the meat. This place has great potential. I love the decorations and it has the best toilet that I have ever seen in my life The decoration are THE BEST.I wish I could recommend it, but I just CAN'T!

Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Initially, I ordered the torta Milanesa but they were out of them. I didn't ask why but I was looking forward to one. Instead, I ordered #19, the rolled taco plate with rice and beans. My wife had the shrimp quesadilla. She had a medium soda and I had water. The bill was over $32 which in retrospect was overpriced.As the pictures show, my plate had lots of rice and frijoles but the rolled tacos were tiny. I'm guessing there was less than 2 ounces of filling in total. While not as apparent, my wife's quesadilla had cheddar cheese and very few shrimp. The cheese made them greasy. The biggest indictment was that she said she likes Rubio's quesadilla much more. That's troubling.All in all, we'd put it on par with Filiberto's and that's not good. Sorry, we can't recommend Five Star.

We decided to try this place for a late lunch today. I had heard that their food was exceptional. Don't waste your time. The food arrived quickly as we were the only patrons (although my husband's order sat on the counter while the worker that was mopping the floor when we arrived, went outside for 3-4 mins.) By the time my husband actually got his order, his food was cooling off. I ordered the beef rolled tacos and I searched diligently for the beef...... finally found some about a third of the way into the rolled corn tortilla. Meat had no flavor! None! At least salt your meat if you don't plan on putting any spices on it. Refried beans tasted like they had vinegar in them. Rice was bland and boring. Salsas were also full of vinegar..... not sure if they use that to extend product or shelf stability.. but YUCK!! Almost $30 and any run of the Mexican restaurant would have been better. Interesting that the sign says "The Best Mexican Food in Town". Some places I would give a second chance but not this one.

It's a family owned Mexican fast food joint. Got a carne asada burrito, a kids meal and a quesadilla. The quesadilla was not only overpriced, but too greasy and wasn't good at all. The kids drink didn't have lids, asked for a different cup that has compatible lids that fit and she told me ok, just fill it up halfway. What? Who says that on a fountain soda machine. Anyways, the salsa bar was cool, but that's about it. Maybe the dine in experience is better, as to go order was ok and somewhat disappointing.

Great food good taco , good place good pricing and clean.. no issue, will be there soon. Thank you for serving the Community .

definitely an amazing place to try, the atmosphere is very vibrant and colorful. Place is super clean and staff is the friendliest, I have experience in a lot of Mexican restaurants. I'm not too sure why people have said they have had bad experiences there, because this place is downright amazing. I got a free birria quesadilla from the cashier and they're always super busy but always get orders out super quick. The price has gone up just a tad bit but it's worth it when you try their amazing mini tacos or breakfast specials. Don't knock it till you try it. It's absolutely delicious. Not to mention that they always have new specials, I tried the taco salad and it's YUMMY

The quality and taste of the food isn't just there for the prices that they are asking for. The meat is so dry and salty, the guacamole is runny and flavorless. The only thing this place has is the looks but don't come here expecting good authentic mexican food, coming from a Mexican myself

Horrible. Absolutely the worst food I've tried to eat in years. Stay away unless you want to over pay to get sick.
