This is a small-owned family run restaurant that has spectacular food! The service is very laid back & almost feels like you're in someone's house. The waitress helped us narrow down our food selections since we practically wanted everything LOL. Everything we ate was so flavorful & delicious & the ban chan was authentic (which is a rare find in AZ)! I had to buy some kimchi to have at home which was such a great decision. I will 100% make the trek across the valley to come back here :)

My husband and I came here to grab some food to go for lunch. I ordered the soft tofu soup and he got the kalbi. The customer service was great. The hostess was friendly and kindly offered us to sit as we waited for our food. The place was clean and food also came out quickly. The tofu soup was very flavorful but I got more tofu than the gopchang in my to go order. I loved the purple rice and sides that they paired with the order nevertheless. The kimchi cucumber was my favorite side. My husband thought the kalbi was deliciously made but he felt like the amount he received for one of their pricier items on the menu wasn't justified. There were only 8 pieces in his order for $30ish dollars. Overall, the food was delicious and we would return to try their other dishes, probably to dine in next time. Parking was limited in the front but there was a sign stating more parking spots were available around the corner. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area.

Man so glad we found this hidden gem in downtown Chandler. Located in a runned down strip mall, the food here definitely hits the spot. The decor is simple with a line of bowls displayed by the wall. We got seated immediately. Our host appeared to be the owner hardly smiled and took our order rather rudely. May be she was just having a bad day or something. Anyways we got the Son Tofu Kimchi Soup with Seafood pancakes. It took a while for the food to come but damn it was worth the wait. That Tofu soup was one of the best Korean stew I have ever had. The tofu was soft and jiggly. The broth was packed with flavors, thick and rich with kimchi, and pork. Loved the rice. The combo hit the spot. My heart was full! The pancake was doughy but cooked through. I can tell the banchan was fresh. God the cucumber and cabbage kimchi was so so good! The price was bit higher compared to other Korean BBQ joints in the valley. But goodness the food was delicious. The service could've been better. Definitely want to go back and try some other items from the menu! Good luck with your dining experience.

Came here after a friend recommended it. It's a small, unassuming restaurant that is family owned. I must admit I was skeptical, as I've never had a true Korean dining experience. This place surpassed my expectations. The owner was so friendly and generous. I wish I remembered her name because she was awesome. Her mom comes in everyday to cook. They bring out various kimchi starters and I was impressed. I've had kimchi before, but the kimchi radish, potatoes, and cucumbers were DELICIOUS. It had the perfect tang and spice level. Not too spices but enough to tickle the tongue. Wasn't overly sour either. The spicy beef soup, yukgaejung, was AMAZING. The broth was deep with flavor and this one does have some spice. Generous portion of beef in there. The glass noodles were delicious and the addition of egg was wonderful. The Haemul Pa Jeon was HUGE. Easily shared amongst the 3 of us. Great flavor and I loved the soy-vinegar accompaniment. I was skeptical about the seafood inside but it was great and not fishy. Finally, the L.A. Galbi.. so good! There was a sweetness and savory-ness to them that I enjoyed. So delicious and again, generous portions. Are you noticing a theme here? There was another soup we tried that I didn't not have a picture of so I won't mention it. I think this was a perfect first experience for me. I'm so glad we went and will 100% go back. It was a little pricey for lunch, around 115$ but you get what u pay for. I wasn't mad. When you have good food you can't be mad. Give them a try and let me know!

Food - 5 stars! We ordered galbi and bi bim bap and will definitely be coming back for more! Galbi is generously portioned with quality beef on a bed of sliced onions, topped with sesame seeds and scallions. Bi bim bap was full of flavors and smoking hot on the table. Only bad thing I would say is I'm sad they are not AYCE (all you can eat)! Lol Service - 5 stars! Service was great as we had a party of 12. Everyone's food came out sizzling hot and timely. Although, it was not very busy for a Sunday afternoon so I would be interested to see how they perform during a rush/packed house. Nonetheless, they were on top of things and staff were very friendly. Ambiance - 4 stars. I'm not sure if they are trying to reduce their electricity bill but it was a bit warm inside the restaurant. Could be the back corner of the restaurant is not well ventilated, or whatever it may be; it would be more comfortable if I wasn't sweating while trying to enjoy my food. Note: I also had my 6 month old baby with me and holding her so perhaps that was a source of increased body temperature. Moving on to the exterior of the restaurant - it looks like a whole-in-the-wall. Parking is pretty limited and tough to get in and out of. Otherwise, the interior is nice. Nothing special but feels like a whole-in-the-wall. Also noticed other Korean families eating there, so you know the food is legit!Overall - 5 stars! The 4-star ambiance is not enough o knock off a whole star. Truly would be a 4.5 stars but rounding up for stellar food and service. Definitely would recommend to friends and family!

The food here is legit! It is a mid size restaurant that can accommodate large parties and many smaller tables. The tofu soups were delicious. The appetizer that has beef tongue, tripes, and tendon is cooked over a portable stove served with ponzu & wasabi. Delicious! The galbi was perfectly cooked. The beef soups were great as well. Tip: Bring cash to save on the 3.5% credit card fee.

Venture out a couple of blocks from downtown Chandler, and voila! We got here around 1530 on a Friday and were the only customers for a little while. Modest decor. Local mom and pop. They bought this establishment about a year ago. The food came out sizzling. They use good quality meats. Everything was great. The glass noodles were a little rubbery. But overall pleased and would come back. Service was friendly and attentive.

I think they are under new ownership. They have even less sides than before. They don't have the dried seaweed or the apple salad. They have kimchi, pickled radish, some sweet pickled cucumber, potato and bean sprouts. The bean sprouts were very salty to me. I thought that the side dishes were pretty good but was sad about the discontinued ones. Also, it seems like you might not be able to get a second serving of the side dishes unlike before. The utensils are in a box on the table. I liked how they had the utensils not public before. The water cups are now metal instead of plastic. The same with the side dish dish ware. The rice was purple due to little purple beans that was in the rice. I am still a little sad they don't have the stone rice anymore that automatically came with the soup. I had the soup and it was just like I remember mostly, but still good. The top of the soup had some broth on it which was interesting but didn't change the flavor. I wish they sold tteokbokki. I haven't found a good tteokbokki restaurant yet.

Chodang's under new ownership, and I'm loving the changes to their menu. I dove into the Korean beef bone soup, and it was a meaty, flavorful delight. The classic Korean whole chicken soup never disappoints, it's both soothing and delicious. We also gave the cold noodles a shot, but they were just alright. On the other hand, the Korean short ribs were a real hit. While I do miss some of the older side dishes, the kimchi here is top-notch. Service is quick, and the small size of the place makes it easy to get your server's attention when you need anything. A great spot for a tasty meal!
