Top notch speakeasy experience in Sun City! Barley and Smoke is one of the coolest speakeasies I have been to.You walk into the sports bar and let the hostess know that you have reservations for Barley & Smoke. She guides you through a passage which I won't spoil for you. Magically through a door, a fine dining world opens to you. Complete with a wood fire oven, magical creations are brought to your table.Try the Old Fashion smoked at your table. It is one of the smoothest most aromatic thing you will drink. I had the Tequila with Butterfly pea ice ball cocktail. It was so pretty! The charcuterie board had these yummy pickled leek stalks things. The beat blue cheese I have had...crumbly and rich in flavor. The anduja spread is tangy and spicy: andouille sausage and Spanish chorizo. Then came the melt in your mouth ribeye, wild mushrooms and mash. I loved my Bao Bunn stuffed with the amazing pork belly, red chilies and radish: The sauce!!!! I was transported back to my childhood when my grandmother made Bao Buns stuffed with soy braised fatty pork. Finally, the Mexican chocolate brûlée. I felt like I was in elementary school eating chocolate pudding but with a grownup twist. The torched crust on top was crispy. I loved the sugared mint leaves/Thank you to our lovely wait staff: Meghan and Brad! Applause to Chef Marco and his team for a fabulous night! I want all my friends to enjoy this space with me again and again.

SOOOO HAPPY to have a speakeasy in Peoria!! The whole experience was wonderful. We managed to snag a late reservation last minute at the bar. When we arrived at Peoria Artisan Brewery we were greeted by a host who then advised one of the Speakeasy staff that we needed to be seated. We walked through the kitchen and were greeted by a very friendly kitchen staff. What looked like doors to the freezer ended up opening up to a beautiful 1920's decorated speakeasy! The decor was fabulous and really added to the experience. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the open kitchen view. My husband ordered a smoked old fashioned drink and said it was fantastic. Normally I'd go for a fancy martini at such a place, however I was surprised by the vast wine menu available! Lots of French wines that can't be purchased at local retail stores. I enjoyed a glass of champagne and then Chardonnay. We also ordered the mocha crème brûlée which was AMAZING! Super flavorful and not too sweet. The staff was so friendly and attentive to their guests. The smaller setting definitely allowed for more attention than you'd typically get at a bar. All in all this was a great experience and we cannot wait to go back!

Must make reservations and sit at the bar area for a fabulous experience!I got together with the neighborhood ladies to try out this new speakeasy located inside the Peoria Artisan Brewery. We were escorted through the kitchen into this exquisite intimate setting and greeted by everyone, making us feel welcomed. We took our time reviewing the menu, starting out with different signature cocktails. We tried the English Garden, Smokin' Aces, Black Gotham, a martini, and a drink of the night with rhubarb-all delicious! We shared a couple of starters, the Talo candle & bread and the Japanese purple potatoes-so good! When it was time for the entrees, we ordered the Wagyu burger, 2 orders of the Bao Buns and the Steak. Of course, we all tried a bit of each other's plates and I loved every entree. It is all made not with just love but with passion!!Although this is a speakeasy, there was no secret about us being there due to Fox 10 News filming on the same night so we received messages and pictures of our gang from friends. It was such a delicious & fun experience. I'm sure their desserts as great also however, we choose a second drink instead. Lucky for us we had a driver to take us home!

It's Peoria, AZ. It's begging for fine dining options that are refreshingly food first, price expected second. We have been to Arrowhead Grill and watched prices rise without the quality rising. We tire of the drive towards Scottsdale. We hear we can drop money at BB and then resent it so we cook at home but I tire of cooking to get value and long for attention. We heard of Barley and Smoke and checked the address several times as it's located in a bar? In a strip mall? By a Walmart and Dairy Queen? We enter the entrance and everyone's in tshirts. Where has my husband taken me for our Anniversary? Why did I over dress? The Maitre D is in jean shorts. "You must be for Barley and Smoke." We get walked passed all the staring through the kitchen. "We have guests." She announces and they all greet us with genuine smile and a touch of reverence. She takes us to a silver double door and it opens into beautiful soft lightening and some chattering. It IS a speakeasy feel and they achieved the "secret" effect. I like that. I like to remember something novel. Run rabit run meets Peoria? We get seated. The bar wraps around a corner of the room and over looks the chefs busy. The outer perimeter has 8 maybe nine tables and seats 2-6 people maybe 8 by why ruin the intimacy. The menus changes but the options are a taste of various desires. The bar is full and everyone has a cocktail. Things look a tad sexier in Peoria. There's no windows. I like that. The small plates start for us with a simple charcuterie. Something to keep talking over. The raw oysters come and are meaty sweet and paired with mignonettes. One is gin infused and our secret drinking starts. We select our cocktails: Smokin' Aces and the Black Gotham. Smokin' Aces has the essential smoking hardwood gun cap. The nose takes in the dense heat and then the drink flows down your throat and hits all the bitters. Black Gotham is velvety at first and hits walnut, oak then at the tip of the tongue chocolate bitters. Bao Bun is soft dough and over stuffed with a savory sweet marinade. The pork is tender and the pickled veggies hit the high sours with the thin sliced peppers hitting the spicy notes. It's East meets West because true to America it is stuffed and pouring out. The ribeye is tender and well seasoned not over salted sitting on the horseradish potatoes and covered in wild mushrooms. "We should cook more with wild mushrooms," I say to my husband. But he's licking his fingers again. We talk about our wedding night 24 years ago and we think of the major decisions we made in those 24 years and reflect on which we agree were best. Going to try Barley and Smoke and it's little Peoria secret is one of them!

Dope spot, tons of potential, food was ok at best, spicy because of too much pepper from the kitchen plus the drinks terrible. Great concept, very expensive, quality does meet the cost. Was not the last reservation but towards the end of the night, our whole experience was rushed. Felt over promised and under delivered.

Super cute speakeasy with an open kitchen concept. Food and drinks were unique. Something very different and trendy in Peoria finally. Loved most of the food we got. We will go back to try again in the future. Boa buns delicious but very hard and messy to eat. Ribeye tartare was Amazing!!! Raw oysters were a no for us maybe it's cause they were not cold. Ribeye dinner was great but steak was a bit over cooked but good enough to not send back. It was fun to watch the chefs cook and the bartenders make beautiful drinks.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would!!! We got to the restaurant, it took almost 20 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged. We had reservations for their Tomahawk and the waiter looked at me like I had 3 eyes, said he would be back. He then stated they were "all out of" Tomahawks and it was first come, first serve even though we had reservations for this specific event. No options provided, of course endless "I'm sorries". We left and ended up getting a steak at another place, clearly more prepared and willing to accommodate their customers. Such poor service, no waters, no offer to put in a beverage choice. They really need to work on what they are advertising for reservations if they want customers to stay and possibly return. Soooo incredibly disappointed!

First off, the place is beautiful! They did a really nice job with decor all the way to the bathrooms. Husband said possibly the best cocktail he's ever had was the Mariposa. Service was great, they immediately offered to remake my dish when there was something on it I didn't love. Bao buns were delicious - and huge! We will definitely be back. It's nice to see this stuff popping up in our area of town.

Went to Barley and Smoke last night for our anniversary. There were four of us. The food was very good. We ordered the Tallow Candle, not knowing what to expect, it was fantastic! The three others, including my husband, ordered the burger, and they all raved about it. I had the spatchcocked chicken and it was delicious. We also ordered the roasted potatoes. They were quite tasty! Prices were very reasonable, but keep in mind, neither chicken or burgers came with any sides. All in all, we would go back for sure but would not order the signature cocktails. I had the Blackberry Thyme Out and husband had The Bitter Ex. Both missed the mark and were pricey. We will stick to regular mixed drinks next time. All and all it was a fun experience. Going through the kitchen to a "secret" entrance was so unique. Really nice atmosphere. One side note, when we made reservation they asked if we were celebrating anything special and I put down that it was our anniversary. Thought we might get a complimentary dessert to share, as they had asked that question, but nothing special was offered. Still a great place to check out and a nice addition to our neighborhood!
