This place is bomb, better than Rita's. Prices are reasonablePlenty of flavors to select fromFriendly staffI had the blueberry which was great. I tried the mango-strawberry that was good as well. My co worker had cherry and lemon and loved it. He did say the lemon was tart but otherwise we loved our icees. The also have wholesale options which was good to find out for my next meeting.

So, I thought I'd had an Italian Ice before... That's what I thought. Oh... how wrong I was. I thought so because I'd never been to Philly's Famous Italian Ices!!!First of all, being an out-of-towner, my friends brought me here. By the time we got here, I was already pretty disturbed driving through the underpass... I feared for my soul. I wanted my mommy...I guess, driving through Kensington, my friends saw the fear in my eyes and decided to take me here. And boy, did it work!!! I approached the window the way a puppy inches towards a stranger's hand with some doggie snacks and shakily ordered a Mango Cherry Twist with Vanilla Ice Cream. I did, however, made the mistake of ordering a large... which could feed half the population of Peru.Once, when my daughter was much younger, she tripped and fell and ended up with a huge nasty gash on her leg. One that probably needed stitches, but I only gave her ice cream to make her stop crying. I can now understand exactly why that was enough. After I gorged on my delicious treat, all the fear, all the doubt, all of it just melted away into orgasmic bliss. That was some of the most delicious shit I've had in a long time. The ice was perfect and the flavors came through amazingly. If I am ever back in Philly, I doubt I will, but if I am... This will be one of my must-stop stops!

Amazing! This place was in business when I lived on Braddock Street (one street over) in 1960! It was terrific then, and from the reviews it's apparently just as good now, as I have not been back since!Ken K.

It's a hot day in the city and you need something to cool off. You'll know you're there when you see a line of cars double-parked with their hazards on. Walk up to the window and you'll find cheap "water ice" by the cup or wholesale. They also have ice cream, pretzels, and hot dogs (be forewarned, they are microwaved).Cash only.

We used to go to another water ice spot near CC, in fact we were loyal customers for years. But then they had issues and we had trouble finding really good water ice somewhere else. That is, until we found Famous Italian Ices. The flavors are so good, like actually flavorful! The prices can't be beat. The customer service is always great too. They are so friendly & welcoming too. This is now our go-to spot!

We've been going here for years. With 48 flavors, they leave other places in the dust. Homemade water ice, ice cream, pretzels, and other great tasting snacks, plus the downright cheapest prices anywhere. Famous's also have a full service wholesale department so you can stock up for parties, holidays, run your own cart or start your own full franchise location. With a great corner location on Lehigh Ave, this spot is don't miss in Philly. We have a 2.5 gallon Coconut in the freezer at home, and if you love sour patch kids, don't miss 'Parcha'. They have special flavors on rotation and use real fruit in many of their concoctions too. Go local, go great, go Famous!

A Philly staple serving up some of the best water ices around. Name a better way to cool off in this brutal summer heat I'll wait. No frills here, It's refreshing and straight sugary goodness with enough flavors to appeal to everyone. Prices feel like the good ol' days which adds to the nostalgia of crushing these as a kid and its a great feeling to find anything that feels like a good deal these days. Stay fat mother suckers

Been going here since I was a kid and when you try this you'll be like, "Rita's who?" Everything is made in house and is delicious. Yesterday I had a coconut water ice gelati with a twist, I decided to do the strawberry krimpet ice cream instead of my usual vanilla. The staff is always kind and they will give you a sample if you're curious. Parking can be tough on busy days, and the traffic of Lehigh Ave (both the cars and people) don't bother me but if you're from out of the area you may be a little skeptical to stop here. Don't let it!

The most delicious water ice there is!!! Smooth, flavorful, and fresh !!! The selection is mind boggling... love the summer fresh fruit flavors. The pineapple and the mango top my list. You can taste the difference from other area ices immediately...no comparison . I usually pick up the wholesale containers for summer parties and events. The price is right and it serves so many. They've been in business since 1965 so you know they're doing it right.
