"Looking for an elevated dining experience in Philly? Look no further than Butcher and Singer, arguably one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city from a structural and architectural standpoint, there's a reason it's been on just about every "best of" list. I had my first experience over the weekend for a special night out with one of my girlfriends, and was really impressed from start to finish.I screwed up and forgot to book a reservation, but we decided to just show up and try our luck at the bar. This worked in our favor as we got to enjoy the full Butcher and Singer experience from a table in their cocktail lounge space, which is full service and was actually completely open when we walked in on a Friday night at 6:56pm. These unreserved tables filled in quite quickly, and the only hiccup of the night was trying to get a server over to us after we grabbed our seats. I went back up to the host stand after we waited for about 10 minutes, then after that point we waited awhile longer for someone to come over with a menu. Not enough to dock a star, but I found it surprising for a place that should seemingly have very clear and polished FOH systems in place. After this though: pure perfection. We each ordered a French 75 from our server Ricky who was a complete rockstar all night long. He gave great suggestions and was super attentive for our whole meal. We then put in our order (we were splitting everything) which one could essentially title "The basic bitch's guide to ordering dinner at a steakhouse"+ Caesar salad+ NY strip steak+ Creamed spinach+ Mashed potatoes+ Glasses of Côtes du Rhône and ChiantiEverything really was perfectly executed, presented, and priced for the quality. You are not going to have a cheap night but you will leave FULL, tipsy, and happy. This amount of food was too much for two people, but I regret nothing and wish I could have tried one of their many tasty desserts. I will absolutely be back, even just to the bar before a night out to take in the gorgeous space and feel transported away from 15th street for a brief moment. Thank you B&S for the wonderful evening and hospitality!"
"Long over due review!Top notch from first knock to finish! Always love the concept of secret places lol... but knocking to be let in is fun. Make sure to try and make reservations because a few people were turned away while we were waiting! The whole place is a vibe in itself. Loved the decor... the bookshelf.. and the bar area. We were seated at the bar. Always nice making conversation with the bar tender and asking for their opinion on what to get. Lots of great cocktails. The food is pretty good! Started with the bone marrow... only wish there was more! I went with the Beef Wellington, probably a tad under seasoned but still good.. and it was A LOT! Husband went with the lamb, which he said was just ok seasoned. He was a little bummed but the sides that came at least made up for it! Dessert was the apple pie which was HUGE!I'd definitely come back!Come for the experience, service, food and drinks! You won't regret coming!"
"Very convenient location in Fishtown for traditional sandwiches and overall fast food. They have a large menu with tons of options. I stick to my favorite chicken finger sandwich or their gyros. The food is usually pretty good and fairly consistent.I usually order in person during work lunch hours, not many people are in line at that time. Generally the lady is nice but when I order I usually feel a slightly rushed interaction. At times my order has been missing something in the bag and a wrong order once. The lady gets defensive so it gets annoying at times when I just want my correct order. For that reason I give them a lower rating. The outdoor seating is a nice bonus on summer days and the beautiful artwork is the icing on the cake. Good spot for what it is just hope their service improves."
"Easily one of the best food truck secrets in all of Philadelphia, for now? When I first read that the slightly unknown food truck was going to be in attendance during the Connie's Ric Rac 10 Year Anniversary Show, I instantly checked their website and had my minds eye flowing with meat perfection! And upon seeing the execution I have to consider the closest thing possible to having Fogo De Chao within a food truck! In fact it comes from a Brazilian born chef who spent time working in Fogo, Chima, and Na'Brasa (https://foodjunkets.com/2014/07/31/new-brazilian-steak-truck-coming-soon-to-philly/). So it goes without saying that he knows a thing or too about full on carnivore glory!Unless you're vegetarian/vegan, when you find yourself looking at a menu filled with sirloin, rib eye, sausage, chicken, and kebob options, for $10, it's easy to find yourself craving all of the above. Especially if you catch its scent as its being intricately cooked upon a hand turned spit rotisserie style (Inside the food truck!), and have the bulk of those meats served sandwich style with either lettuce/tomato/onion, or a good sized chunk of pineapple that's also cooked a bit upon the spit.Upon seeing the menu options my mind was singing to it Freddie Mercury style (https://youtu.be/hFDcoX7s6rE)! But with clearer reading the true winner turned out to be the Leme, which had the most succulent chunks of chicken that I've ever had, WRAPPED IN BACON, and stuffed into a flaky and slightly toasted roll alongside a good sized chunk of that aforementioned pineapple. And it goes without saying that that sandwich gods were smiling down upon me that afternoon! For now (Change request submitted!) this listing is perfectly misleading since Rio Brazil(ian) is a food truck and not a steakhouse, and 34th & Market is supposed to be where they're parked during the week when their not catering or doing special events. But if you're a meat eating sandwich lover who sees this truck (Facebook may help - https://www.facebook.com/riobraziliansteaktruck), do yourself a favor and get some!"
"The cheetah carpet seems tongue-in-cheek when taken with the upscale piano bar atmosphere, excellent pianist, and sophisticated drinks. I had reservations elsewhere and only popped in for a drink but I think I'll be back for the food before long."
"Came here for lunch today because of their selection of vegan sandwiches. As a non vegan, I opted for the Hippie Chic with bacon jam, chopped chicken, goat cheese and arugula. I was expecting the chicken to be chopped more but it was still quite tasty. The bacon jam was pretty sweet but the peppery arugula and creamy goat cheese helped balance it out. I had high hopes for the fried pickles since they have a bunch of pickles on the menu, but they were just okay (I personally prefer breaded vs battered). The fries and tots were decent. The vegan sandwiches were delicious as well. Service was fast and friendly. But keep in mind they are cash only!! There's an ATM on site for you"
"No nonsense cash only breakfast joint with tasty sandwiches.I ordered the ham egg and cheese topped with hash browns on a long roll. I think its called the Farm Hand. The bread was soft and chewy. It did its job of highlighting the sandwich contents well.Inside lay a generous helping of fresh fried eggs, crispy hash browns, thick slices of country ham, and salty American cheese. This was a massive and delicious sandwich with lots of salt, fat, and flavor. Great for a Saturday breakfast."
"Came here for breakfast. My husband and I ordered the brioche French toast which was great!! Big fan of the light airy french toast with berry compote. It also comes with almond praline butter, I ordered it on the side and didn't need it nor the syrup. The restaurant had a large indoor seating areas as well as outdoors but the outdoor seating set up. The service was slow, especially for only a few tables in the restaurant."
"This is really like a 3.5 just because of the very, very high prices, but I had a great meal and probably the best steak I've ever had, so 4 it is. Ambiance: I love dark restaurants. I love loud but not too loud restaurants. This was perfect for me. Tables were just a bit too close together, but the noise level made that less of an issue. The unisex bathroom is fine by me, but why label the stalls for men and women? Aren't they the same?Service: Our waiter, Matthew, was absolutely fantastic. A true professional. Very welcoming and very knowledgeable. Cocktails were very good and quite strong. Appetizers:- Oysters were high quality and well presented. - Steak and pearls was the most expensive appetizer and was a total disappointment. At least it taught me that you really, really don't need caviar on steak tartare. Capers will do the trick just fine. The meat was under seasoned, the portion was tiny, and the crackers were far too thin and couldn't hold the meat. Would definitely pass on this. Complimentary bread and butter was probably the best thing I ate during the appetizer course. Entrees- I had an American wagyu ribeye cap. My wife had a dry aged ribeye. We both got bone marrow on the side. Steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Best steak I ever had. - Asparagus was fine. - Mushrooms were remarkable. Absolutely bursting with flavor. - Shoestring onions tasted exactly like a bloomin' onion at Outback. I'd pass next time. Dessert:- A dark chocolate cake with coffee ice cream was good but nothing to write home about. One complaint:- I don't mind that they charge $6 for a side of Béarnaise, but to charge $6 for a side of steak sauce is just absurd. I don't like steak sauce and didn't order any, but I found that kind of offensive."

One of many great steakhouses in Philadelphia, Butcher & Singer is housed in a space that used to be a bank. Not the crappy little pop up kiosks type ATM banks of today. Rather, this was obvious prior powerhouse building with soaring ceilings, marble and cement, and a huge vault. The lighting is low, there are perimeter semi private booths, and decor sporting nontoxic masculinity which all seem appropriate in this space serving up the classics. A great steak is perhaps my favorite food genre and this was my first time here. I pledge it will not be my last and I would put this in my top 10 great steakhouses I have visited. You will need to save up to eat here, take out a loan, or be a guest of someone with an expense account because it is not cheap. But it is also not the most expensive I have seen either. Some things on the menu were inappropriately high in my opinion but others seemed reasonable. Examples of this include a corkage fee of $40 (my experience in most place is that it is $30 but some have been as high as $50), a house craft Manhattan cocktail is $30 (I have seen craft ones as low as $18 and as high as $32), and an aged Delmonico (Ribeye) steak is $67 (I have seen dry aged ones usually in the $79 range). Nothing was cheap but it was also not the most expensive pricing I have run into. What do you get for these prices? All you would expect from a classic high-end steak house. There were great, straightforward menu items that were perfectly executed. Highlights of our evening were the escargot, the fresh oysters, the Butcher Salad (their version of a chopped garbage salad), the steaks, and the Icebox Lemon Pie. They also have an epic wine list if you are an oenophile but be forewarned, there are very limited selections that are affordable. Expect a 300-500% markup (even more for collector vintage bottles) so although their corkage fee is a bit higher than most I have run into, it is still a good way to maintain some value if you have great wine to bring in of your own. Parking is tough all over city center Philly so find a public garage and walk. Expect service to be professional and friendly but not over the top doting on you. And you would be most comfortable dressing towards up, not down (you will be fine in a collared shirt and jeans or better but I would avoid the shorts and flip flops). If you are ever visiting Philly and in need of a great steak, this is a solid choice in my book

The location is hidden other than a rose on the door and a doorbell. There is one awkward seating right by the door that we initially got sat at (loud + sun shines on you every time they open the door), but they were quick to move us when we asked to switch spots. Staff was very attentive and polite, and they wrote a hand written card in celebration as well handed with the bill which was sweet.Bone Marrow Toast - one of their highly recommended items that was definitely very goodBeef Tartare was amazing! probably my favorite item I tried that was not expectedCreamed spinach - nice and rich, enjoyableTomahawk steak - nice large piece that is fun to get. It was a little tougher than I expected but still enjoyableBaked Alaska - great for celebrations or experience a little flair with the fire, not amazing but decentAmbiance is dark lit lighting with a library wall. The pictures on the wall and the nonmatching tableware (cups, plates, etc.) make it feel very homey. It was designed to serve nonmatching sets as homage to a family member that collected and served tableware that was not from a set. Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Ambiance: 5/5

Ordered online for pickup. Luckily was able to find parking. Ordered a lunch special - cheesesteak wrap that came with fries and a soda. Very good.

Possibly the best food truck in university city. Fabulous meats. Try a different meat each time you come by. It's just fabulous. The picana beef to die for. Rice and beans with salad. Chicken wrapped in bacon. Grilled pineapple.

Upon my first trip to Philly I opted to stay in the Warwick Hotel Rittenhouse Square. It's delightful, and located in it's lobby is Rittenhouse Grill.I arrived to my hotel after a day of exploring and thought - it seems time for a martini. Who doesn't love a good steakhouse martini? I sure do. Imagine my surprise and also delight when I discovered they have happy hour from 4:30 - 6:30 Wednesday - Friday and martinis are *drumroll please* $9!!!Never have I seen such a deal in all my happy hour exploration, and trust that this is one of my favorite pastimes. They offer Dirty martinis, cosmos, manhattans and margaritas for $9 and select wines for $8 and select beer for $5. While I had just discovered this amazing deal, it appears Philly knows what's up.Right at 5 pm, the bar got totally packed with people ready to live their best discounted cocktail life. They also have select bites for under $10.The real star of the show tho, seems to be the prime rib. While I did not order it, the seasoned happy hour pros surrounding me all opted for this.It was the best people watching, as RG seems to have its regulars and Adam the friendly bartender seems to have their orders ready on deck. I loved everything about it and will most likely return on my trip. The ambiance is what you'd expect from an old school steak house - dark, cozy and with the possibility of live music as they have a piano.Five star find from me for sure!

Yum! I am so happy I tried Nipotina because it was delicious! At first, the prices are kind of high but honestly it is very worth it and the quality is there! I got 'The Slice' with chicken cutlet, fried mozzarella, marinara, arugula. It was flavorful and delicious and I was able to save some leftovers for later due to the size of the entire sandwich. I also got a side of fries, which I could maybe have done without. Nipotina also offered breakfast items, which I am excited to try. The staff were friendly and the sandwich was made relatively quickly. There is space to dine in, which is nice, but I did choose to take mine to go and eat at home. FYI, cash only, but they do have an ATM. Overall, I highly recommend Nipotina and I will be back!

Went for breakfast, which is what you will be going there for as well cause of their hours. In short I loved the place. Run by two people who enjoy what they do and are proud of the place. I got the varsity (long roll). Ordered half to eat there and half to go home. The bread/meat/egg/cheese ratios are SPOT ON. I know the picture makes it look like it might be bread heavy but it works. The varsity is a big sandwich so plan accordingly. It's a solid breakfast sandwich spot. I felt good leaving Lisa's kitchen. All sandwiches come with egg, cheese, and that wonderful hash brown. You pretty much play around with the meat choices. I got the scrapple since I am new to Philadelphia. I liked it. I am not sure if everyone will. It's like meat loaf made with pork. The vibes are cool, plus it's one of those places that has sassy quotes on their wall and I am a sucker for those kind of places.

Prices a bit too pretentious for good food - Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my 2 hour experience at this establishment, but I feel the price for the food might be a bit much for good, not great, food. Pros:Staff are very friendly and courteous! The vibe is up to you -- romantic, chic, trendy, and casual. All different types of groups there! Desserts ---- we couldn't get enough! Delicious!Cons:Prices - $$$ and sides sold separate. Time frame - 2 hours for the whole meal. A bit longer than I'm used to with my family of four. We didn't order appetizers either.
Visit Restaurant Page"I took my friend out for her birthday! It was such a cute spot. The vibe was 100/10 but the food was like a 4/10 at best. Things to look out for: - Uber or carpool. Parking is really limited or really far away. - If you're going to SIN, definitely expect to spend around 100-150 pp if you're getting apps, entire, and dessert. - There is an automatic 20% service fee, which is tip. - There is a 3% credit card charge. So it might be cheaper to pay with cash."
"This place is really unreal. Not sure I've ever had a better cheesesteak in my life. You can tell the owner is a passionate about what he does and that carries over to his food and staff. Can't wait to come back soon."
"For the last 2 years while I slowly progressed into a couch potato. I've watched Japanese street food vids on YT. I'm all about the culture. Hope to visit Dobuita one day. As such, I've been on the journey for legit cuisine. This place checked out. I really enjoyed the springrolls and my Ramen. Service was excellent, although we were the only ones in the restaurant. Even still - decent service. Ambiance is ok for what it is. I mean, you're in a mini strip mall. Its nothing too elaborate or fancy but it works. I really enjoyed the music. I was also surprised at how quiet it was inside. No street noise at all. Castor ave is a steady stream of people and cars - heard nothing but the music of Japan. They really did an amazing job bringing Japanese cuisine to the NE. I wish nothing but the best to the owners and chef. I'll be back again soon."
"This was a refreshing sushi place. The menu is different from the other sushi restaurants in Philly and their drinks are really good too!I got the rock shrimp appetizer, red dragon roll, new rainbow roll, sancho salmon roll, and the Unagi Cucumber Roll. The one thing I do have to say though is that it smells a little bit too much like cleaning supplies and maybe mildew (basement smell)."
"This restaurant is upscale and intimate. The light is dim, very romantic setting. Perfect for a date or special occasion celebration. Our waiter was super enthusiastic and friendly. He recommended dry-aged Delmonico steak and brussel sprouts as appetizers. He was absolutely right. I ordered both of them and they are outstanding.Brussel sprouts were charred but not bitter. It was served with hot peppers so it has some kick to it.I asked for a medium rare steak and it was the way I liked. It's huge with big and crunchy onion rings on top. Highly recommended.Dessert: he recommended crème brûlée and brownie sundae. I wanted to be a bit " healthy " so I picked carrot cake The carrot cake had thin icing so it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It's ok. Not memorable.I tried my husband's brownie sundae and it's delicious. The brownie was served with ice cream and whipped cream."
"A new Mexican restaurant in Bryn Mawr. This is definitely going on my list of favorite local restaurants. I ordered from lunch menu. I went close to 2, and it was not busy, which made me happy for quick service. My server was very friendly and attentive. Chips and pico de gallo were brought to the table once I was seated. The homemade chips were crispy and paired well with the mild pico de gallo. The pico was traditional with ingredients and was really good with the chips. I ordered the chicken chimichanga with Spanish rice. The dish was flavorful, and the chicken was nicely seasoned. The cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream , and guacamole complemented the dish. It was a great blend of flavors. The rice was lightly flavored and perfect as a side dish..y dessert was the fried ice cream. It did not disappoint. The ice cream ball is served in a fried tortilla wth a and the crispy coating of frosted flakes with the frozen vanilla ice cream. It was delicious with toppings of whipped cream, honey, chocolate, and a maraschino cherry. It was a yummy birthday lunch. I cannot wait to return for dinner.Dinner Tonight Grilled Shrimp Fajita 10/10Flauta (chicken &cheese) 10/10 Beef Tacos"
"5 stars in every aspect. Delicious food, friendly staff, cute ambiance, good service. We had a reservation for a Saturday night and got seated right away. It's a small place in a cute part of town, good vibes all around. We ordered the big dish of all the meats to share for 2 people and it was perfect. No issues with my allergies at all (dairy, peanuts). The meats were tender and flavorful. The drinks were a perfect pair. Honestly, no complaints at all.**HIGHLY recommend the empanadas"
"I ordered Door Dash from Masami and got to try the avocado salad, valentine roll, pork gyoza, spicy girl roll, and godzilla roll.Every single thing I ate was delicious, but I can't stop dreaming about the godzilla roll. It was deep fried (which usually isn't my thing) with tuna and avocado, but the sauces that were put on it were just impeccable. I will definitely be getting two godzilla rolls in the future. The spicy girl roll was surprisingly not as spicy as I would have liked! But it was still delisious. The valentine roll was my husband's order, but I had one and it tasted fresh and full of tuna, which was the idea. The avocado salad was filled with lots of avocado and the dressing was perfect. This might just be our new go-to sushi restaurant! I can't say anything negative about anything I ate."
"A great spot in the city with good food and amazing service! The service honestly stood out the most!My bf and I dined here the other night for restaurant week. It didn't seem packed, but we were seated upstairs rather than the "patio" section. Upstairs was just a bit cramped with the women's restroom. For the first course, we ordered the hipster meatballs and butcher wedge. Both had a beautiful presentation and tasted great. I'm sure the regular meatballs would've been better, but the hipster version was still flavorful! For the second course, we ordered the braised short rib Cavatelli and the grilled Denver steak. The pasta dish was heavy, plentiful and delicious. I loved the light sauce and the noodles were chewy. My steak was a bit too chewy for me. We weren't the biggest fan of the steak itself, but we were fans of the chimichurri and side veggies. For the last course, we ordered the mousse and bread pudding. Unfortunately, we were running late for a show so had to get dessert to go. When we did eat it back home, the bread pudding wasn't warm and the mousse wasn't cold. The bread pudding did not include the ice cream for obvious reasons. It was still good but I know it would've been better if we ate it there. This was a great choice for restaurant week and a place I'd recommend!"
"This place has great food, large portions and reasonable prices! New location right on Bridge Street. Oddly enough it's Guatemalan Kitchen and a pizza joint. I came for the Guatemalan! The menu is extensive and there are so many options. ordered:-Parrallada grilled meat sampler with chicken, steak and sausage. Served with black beans and macaroni salad. -Sopa de mano de res or the cow's foot soup. Served with homemade corn tortillas and lime cilantro and onion. This delicacy was my favorite. -three ginormous chicharron papusas served with some salad. -Jamaica Hibiscus drink- a little sour and not too sweet-bag of elotitos or cornuts. Delicious snack Everything was freshly made and delicious. Love this place"
"There are those chefs/restauranteurs who are so synonymous with a location that you never expect them to move beyond it. For the longest time that Philly chef was Marc Vetriso when I first saw that he was opening the next restaurant in Bryn Mawr I had to check to story lead a few times to ensure that it wasn't a typo! But seeing was believing that led to a fantastic Italian steakhouse with meals and mangia of epic proportions. But this is a steakhouse that puts as much effort into its fantastic pasta, antipasti, and side while encouraging a family-style meal of sharing. For our first experience here we had the Sunday Dinner special with an amazing prime rib and the chance to indulge in a plentiful assortment of sides, breads, and antipasti beforehand. Its a special that they only have on special occasions these days, but the prime rib was so popular that it does make.Between regular events like a good happy hour and Wine Wednesdays, to plenty of special dinners and a selection of in-house art from various artists hanging on its walls, there are plenty of reasons to check out Fiore Rosso on the regular! But the best reasons will always be the epic drinks and quality meals!"
"I met a friend here for happy hour. The bartenders were welcoming and attentive. Even as it got more crowded. The caipirinhas are delicious, especially the passion fruit mix. The jam that comes on the bison burger?? Put it on everything!! That burger is bomb! The lamb chops are perfect. We sat at the bar as it was happy hour and it was surprisingly spacious with seating at the bar, high top tables, and a few regular tables. Street parking is available (as available as Center City will allow), but also very walkable location within the city. I'll definitely return."
"Yes yes YAAAAS. We came here last Saturday night and got takeout for the drive-in movie at Bellevue. We got a cheesesteak with American, onions and hot peppers, and an Italian sub. Both were amazing. Like fighting with my husband because he dare take a bite of my half amazing. We will be back and we will be spreading the word. Also, this place got a plug in the new HBO show Mare of Easttown. They said "it's La Spada's for subs". It is indeed. Come here, eat everything, you'll love it."
"It was my first time here and it was for a company function. The service was impeccable from the hostess station to the servers to the bussers. I had the braised salmon, and it was fork tender and so flavorful. We had a variety of sides for the group. I heard high praise for the crème brulee corn, the asparagus, and scalloped potatoes. I also had the Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake suggested by the server and she was right, it was amazing. It is located across the street from South Park Mall, it cannot be seen from the road. It is in the APEX. Snooze AM eatery is on the corner as location reference. And as others have mentioned it is on the pricier side, but worth it for a memorable evening out.The only "sort of issue" we had, as a group of a certain age, was the lighting. It was very dark and hard to read the menu. We dined around 6pm all the windows were covered; they raised the blinds around 9pm when we were leaving."
