"Happen to be around the university area and was craving some ramen. There's some really good ramen where I'm from, so my expectations are high. Came right at opening and there were many tables. Service and food came fast. The ramen was okay. Noodles were chewy, soup was ite, toppings were okay and the chasiu was dry. Not on my top tier of noodles and didnt really satisy my ramen itch. Cannot recommend this ramen."
"Was able to stop in for their grand opening to try the self serve build your own hot pot. Dozens of fresh ingredients to choose from with many types of noodles, large variety of vegetables, fish balls, meat slices, and other assorted items. Build your own hot pot all you do is pick the broth base at the end: original mala (spicy), mushroom, or tomato. Start by picking up a bowl and tongs, fill with everything you want at the self serve area, and then go to the counter to choose your broth base. You pay and get a number, then sit down and wait for it to cook up until they call you. Price is $13.99/lb for everything, and they also have some drinks to buy as well. There is a separate area to build your own spices cup with chilis and oils. Overall it is very good concept and everything fresh and tasty! Glad the chain opened a spot in Philly. Thanks"

"The sushi was respectable although the sashimi seemed a bit soft. King crab roll was delicious. The sushi in this tray was so so. Nothing wrong with it but no real standouts. Maybe an option that costs more but has some things like eel and maybe even another special roll or two cut up without having to special order might be nice. Salad and dressing were on-point. Shumai was what I could get at the grocery store from frozen as it was part of the bento box. Staff was super friendly and made me feel welcome to dine in another time if I could. Environment is a relatively small, cozy, appropriately themed place for a sushi venue. Nice sushi place for the area."
"We ate at Ginza on a weekday at lunch time- they weren't busy at this time - service was great and food came quickly. I absolutely loved the angry dragon roll - perfect amount of crunch with the tempura shrimp. The rainbow roll was also delicious, as was the more basic California roll. The miso ramen was tasty and filling. Overall, a great lunch experience and I'm sure would be great for dinner."
"This place has been all over social media recently, so my boyfriend and I, being the ramen lovers that we are, made our way into to try this Blade Runner inspired basement Ramen joint. Probably the worst thing about this place is that it's first come first serve-- but that's typical in Japan, so i didn't find it too annoying. Also it weeds about people that really don't want to be there, only people who REALLY want to try a place. It looks like this place used to be a diner, but they've outfitted everything with ambient neon lights and mirrors (I've never seen Blade Runner). The front half is a typical diner setup of counter space seating and small 2/4 top tables, and then the back of the restaurant is larger booths that they use for communal seating (fine by me) and then two larger tables if you're willing to wait. Okay now let's get to the food & drinks, we got:--Tori Karaage ($12.00) Japanese boneless fried chicken, sweet sauce, spicy mayo--Tonkotsu Chashumen ($17.00) with 3pc Chashu is their signature hakata style "tonkotsu" (pork bone broth boiled over 24 hrs) noodle soup w/ marinated chashu pork, shiitake, menma, red pickled ginger, sesame, scallions & drizzled w/ roasted garlic oil, served w/ straight noodles.--Shoyu Chashumen ($17.00) with 3pc Chashu, is their soy-flavored wavy noodle soup, topped w/ marinated chashu pork, shiitake, menma, red pickled ginger, naruto, sesame, & scallions, served with wavy noodles. --Ajitama ($2.00) 2 Marinated Boiled Eggs (two for each ramen we added). --Electric Sheep ($14.00) Japanese Gin, Cherry Blossom Calpico, Elderflower Tonic, Strawberry Bubbles -- Deckard ($15.00) Japanese Whisky, Cherry Shochu, St Germaine, Citrus, Egg WhiteOf the two ramens the Shoyu Chashumen was the clear favorite. The brother was so flavorful and just vastly outshined the other. If you've got enough broth over you can ask for more noodles for $4.00 (which is so Japanese, I LOVE IT). Any-- I loved this place and will surely come back once it's gets warmer outside cause waiting outside is only going to get worse as the winter goes on."
"Found this place randomly on Yelp. It was perfect for a cold day while the snow was still covering the ground. The Quick Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen came with a lot of stuff which I was able to share with my son. We also had the pork bun which was a little too salty but the buns were good. The curry was good too. My son kept waving at the waitress. She was very friendly. I was also offered hot tea instead of cold water."
"When I have out of towners come to visit that say they want ramen but I know they don't want to wait for the hyped-places in lines or play the reservation game, I take them to Megumi. The food is fine and the environment is chill! Cute decor with anime posters and often playing Jpop or Kpop. It's great for a chill night to hang with your friends and grab a quick bite. Their appetizers and non-ramen items are kinda meh to me but not terribly if you want to share something with friends for variety!"
"Good food. I had the Hakata Tonkotsu Black Ramen. Kind of spicy so if you don't like spicy probably eat to find another dish. They had a nice little outdoor section set up because of COVID. Great flavor for the food. I'd recommend this place if you are looking for some good ramen."
"When we're on Drexel's campus we have to have some Ramon noodles. The students are just returning from Christmas break do the restaurant was not busy.We were seated as soon as we arrived at a nice table. Servers were all very attentive. We ordered the suggested Ramon dishes. Don't forget to add the marinated soft boiled egg. Save room for desert the green tea ice cream is worth saving room for. The best part is the cost . With green tea s Ramon bowl and desert we spent about $20 per person"
"I recommend this place! While I wish the broth was richer, it was still good. They offer a student discount if you show your ID, regardless of the school you go to. Nice spacious indoor seating. Nice people. Will be coming back again soon!"
"We ordered two special rolls ; spicy girls and phoenix roll and seafood udonSpicy girl was nothing spicy at all Seafood udon was like blended miso soup Visual was ok butOverall, food was lack of taste"

A nice casual ramen place for a university student. I liked that the ramen wasn't too salty. The prices are decent and the tempura appetizer was good. Overall solid, great for a casual meal, nothing outstanding special, but would recommend to other students.

A build-your-own hotpot place that charges by the lb. This is a great alternative to the many all-you-can-eat hotpot restaurants that dominate the city. There's a decent variety of vegetables, meat, seafood and noodle types at the self-serve area where you load up your bowl. It's comparable to a large hotspot restaurant. After you order, there's also a sauce bar to the side with all your standard sauces and spices. My bowl came to $16 for a reasonable, pretty filling amount. I like the fun, bright ambience and clean atmosphere. The food comes out pretty quick as all they need to do is heat the broth and boil your food. Staff were also really helpful! My friend and I came during the first couple weeks of opening so they throughly explained everything for us (it's all pretty self explanatory though).

I've only ordered delivery from here, but the delivery is always prompt. The sushi is always so fresh! The prices are very reasonable. The first time I ordered I got 4 rolls and a hibachi meal for my partner and I to share, and it ended up being 2 separate meals for different days, so I would say the portion size is robust as well! My only issue was mainly due to delivery and it was that the hibachi sauce spilled all over my bag and so my meal was a little drier than it might have been. I'll continue to sate my sushi cravings here!

I always like to try a new sushi spot to add to my go to list so I had to hit up Kawa. I really enjoyed the yellowtail collar it was seasoned well with a hint of curry which was interesting. The rest of the sushi was ok. Prices are pretty inline with sushi fare. I liked the interior dining room, quaint, cute and makes you feel like you may be in Japan. I'd go back and dine in next time.

Went here a few weeks back and it was super yummy! I got the miso soup as an appetizer and was surprised by the itty bitty mushrooms in it (not a bad thing)! Then I got the katsu don (no picture, sorry) but it was sooooo so good. Fried chicken, rice, sauce and veggies!! Service was good and relatively quick. Nice place to eat. :)

First time visiting. There were positives and negatives to the experience but I'm open to returning. It was a bit warm that day and when we entered we were told to sit anywhere we liked. We picked a table near the front and started to realize it was getting hot in there. We felt no cold air or any air circulation at all. Our server said the air was on but the heat from the kitchen was overpowering it. Uhh... was this really not figured out before opening for business? It's our fault for having hot soup on a warm evening but, restaurants are supposed to have AC in the summer I thought. We were given water with no ice. I looked to the people at the bar who also had food and they DID have ice. Uhh... and no one refilled our water. We got sodas that had ice at least but no one asked to refill those either. Our food was brought out by someone else, when our server came by the one time to check on us they asked how it was which was nice. We had not yet finished water or soda but that was really the only time we saw the server. When we were done the server was playing on their phone in the back for a while. Later when getting the check we are told there actually is cool air way in the back but no one said anything earlier or offered to move us when we said we were uncomfortable from the stuffy air.Aside from the stuffy heat and lack of ice and drink refills, the soups came out fast and tasted great. I got a fried tofu appetizer which tasted great too. There was no silverware, only chopsticks and the little broth spoon. If they have silverware as an alternative option they didn't tell us. There was also no salt/pepper or anything else on our table except for drink menus. If they have it as an option, again no one told us.The music was cool, not super loud. The other customers there all seemed nice, no one being too loud or annoying. The place looked pretty clean, as soon as people at the bar left, guys came around to clean the area up nicely. There were no bad smells or anything. It's a well kept place - just super stuffy hot air.Maybe I'll go back when it's cold outside!

The food was so so so delicious! I loved the ramen and the sushi was super good too! You could taste the ginger in the popcorn chicken which was a great touch. The service was speedy and so friendly! And the ambiance was very low key, chill, but cute!

I found this place on a Saturday night, being nearby Chinatown and craving sushi. We both got yellowtail jalapeño to start, sushi specials with miso soup and salad and edamame. The timing was off, we got our edamame and then didn't receive our yellowtail jalapeño, miso soup or salad until our sushi rolls, which took a while as well. We asked about the yellowtail jalapeño and were told it takes a while because it's frozen. I understand sushi grade fish has to be flash frozen to remove bacteria but this wasn't exactly making us want the dish anymore so we asked them to take it off and not bring it. The rolls were okay, miso soup, salad and edamame were okay as well. I probably wouldn't return because I assume there's better sushi places nearby.
Visit Restaurant Page"Have ordered takeaway a few times and it has been great. The ramen for takeaway is packaged in a separate container where the broth is separated from the noodles and other ingredients so that they do not become mushy. The char su pork is delicious and melts in your mouth. The ramen noodles have a little bounce and chew to them. Highly recommended in cold weather or if you are feeling a bit under the weather."
"Went here for the first time last Friday, my friends have been here 10 times in the past 3 months and recommended it.The chefs are incredible, every sushi piece melted in my mouth and was so fresh.Their spicy crab salad is awesome and a must-try for apps, along with their pork gyoza which was The service is impeccable too, we had 2 servers and both were just so nice, attentive, and helpful with menu options. The owner Andy comes in nightly and knows so many of the guests, he dropped off a special Toro nigiri app for us on the house, which made this entire experience even more special. Would highly recommended for any celebration, date night or just a night out with friends. Fills up fast on weekends so def make a reservation!"
"We got a team takeout order via DoorDash and the food was made so fast. The food was amazing. We were super surprised by how good the rayaki fries were!! I got the black garlic ramen and it was delicious. I'll be back later this week to try out their curry rice dishes. Can't wait! Everyone on my team loved their food."
"It took serious effort to find this place, but it was worth it! My map led me to a building lobby where the security guard guided me to take the stairs down to the SEPTA tunnels. It is located near the jewelry store and is a small shop, but the staff was incredible and the food was very good. I had the spicy miso ramen and got to bao buns to go. Loved it all!It seems like they do a good delivery business, but if you find your self in the area and can find it below ground, it's a great lunch spot!"
"So on my pandemic-2020 journey through the West Philadelphia restaurant scene for takeout dinner, I discovered a new favorite this past Friday. Now, granted, I'm not a connoisseur of poke, (yet), but the bowl I had for dinner from Hayashi Sushi and Poke was abnormally delicious for what was really just a bowl of seasoned and sauced vegetables and fish. My partner, who got a vegetarian version of such a bowl, was also quite impressed, so an excellent choice for stricter vegetarians as well.I was looking for a dinner option that would be on the lighter side and inclusive of by fresh, raw vegetables. You would automatically think "salad" but I HATE getting salads as my main meal, so I wanted something more substantial. Yelp to the rescue - the reviews for HSP looked promising, and after my first ever poke bowl in LA last winter, I was curious to try more.So glad I did. I did a custom poke bowl, and while I won't go into detail about all the options you get, the standouts were definitely the zucchini noodles and the spicy tuna. I think if I got just a bowl of those "zoodles" and fish, that would have made me perfectly happy on its own. Well, keep the edamame too - I really like edamame. My partner got fried tofu as his protein and white rice as his base. We were both surprised by how filling the seemingly small bowls ended up being. The awesome miso soup (which automatically comes with poke bowls) probably helped with that. Miso soup is another thing I'm relatively new to - I told my partner THIS IS SO GOOD, and his response was, well, yes, but also pretty standard for miso soup, which is always good. It's such a win when trying new foods and styles of cooking and your early attempts happen to be at a fantastic spot. Excited to come back for more delicious poke, and to explore more of the menu too!"
"I like this addition to the local food scene. We go primarily for the robatayaki - but everybody that's had the raman rave about that as well. BYOB is a big plus in our book. Service can be a little sketchy occasionally , but great price points on the menu and selection. This is on the "regular" list...."
"We popped in when it began to downpour on our way to Penn's Landing. What a nice little spot. It's small but quite nice inside. They had a few tables for inside dining and a killer to go business going on. All our rolls were super fresh. They had some more unusual menu items so that was fun too. I would definitely recommend this place and go back if ever in the area. The only not fun detail was the QR code menu. We should have asked for a paper one. It's WAY too hard to choose sushi from an online menu where you have to click each item to see the description and then try to remember what you want."
"For the last 2 years while I slowly progressed into a couch potato. I've watched Japanese street food vids on YT. I'm all about the culture. Hope to visit Dobuita one day. As such, I've been on the journey for legit cuisine. This place checked out. I really enjoyed the springrolls and my Ramen. Service was excellent, although we were the only ones in the restaurant. Even still - decent service. Ambiance is ok for what it is. I mean, you're in a mini strip mall. Its nothing too elaborate or fancy but it works. I really enjoyed the music. I was also surprised at how quiet it was inside. No street noise at all. Castor ave is a steady stream of people and cars - heard nothing but the music of Japan. They really did an amazing job bringing Japanese cuisine to the NE. I wish nothing but the best to the owners and chef. I'll be back again soon."
"this place is sitting at a 4.5 rating from the community as I write this review and I agree with that. wish I could rate half stars. my char siu or whatever it was called on the menu (I just asked for pork ramen) was pretty good. Not a ton of different flavors and was a lil salty but it was good, was a decent price, and I would order again. the noodles also weren't soggy and im weird about that so that was a big plus for me lol. service was decent I think there were only a couple people working in there. ambiance also left a little to be desired but they're working with what they have so that's not a big deal for me. overall my expectations were met. nothing was amaaaazing but nothing about our experience was subpar. Also let me not forget, it was clean in there. that matters more than the food tasting good matters lolside note I enjoyed the way the corn was cut. my dinner partner said that's the tiktok style. I had never had it but it was an enjoyable and convenient way to eat corn. they need to add emojis to yelp *thumbs up*"
"Dined in today for lunch. I'm more if a to-go person but they offer BOGO if you dine in. I got shrimp tempura and shrimp and cucumber. Both were pretty good and the prices were perfect! I just wished that a California roll was included in the BOGO, I'm not too experienced in all types of sushi."
"Ronan will feel like you are at cheers. They know your name personally I like the grilled teriyaki but if you were sushi, I understand that it is the best around."
"Located where Ramen Bar was originally. The miso ramen here was a complete miss with barely any flavor. The kani salad had way too much cucumber and mayo.Other than that, the location was clean and the servers were friendly."
"For people like me (always hot) Ramen soup during a heat wave is not a great idea. I chose this restaurant because they serve alcohol and they have a sushi menu. The staff members are all really nice and they were working their butts off! The sushi was fresh and the spicy soup flavorful...Unfortunately the AC wasn't working that well, they were understaffed, and the sushi menu and the bar menu did not have a good variety of options. I tried to order a vodka with pineapple juice on the rocks. They were either out of pineapple juice or they don't stock pineapple juice on their bar menu. Signature cocktails are great but sometimes you just want 2 ingredients :)I love sushi and was really there for sushi. I found the menu to be disappointing but everything was fresh. If you love giant bowls of steamy, hot noodle soup go there."
"This place was amazing!!! We ordered 3 rolls, gyoza, and edamame. Everything was really great and flavorful! The waiter was very attentive and had great recommendations! I wish I knew it was BYOB however. This place is small and intimate. Perfect for a date night but also great for dinner with close friends. The rolls are a bit pricy but so worth it!!! I'll definitely be back!"
"On paper Qing Mu's rating didn't add up to me. From the outside it looks like a generic Chinese takeout place serving overpriced ($18) bento boxes.I was woefully wrong. I ordered the chicken and vegetable tempura bento box. The quality of the tempura was outstanding [crisp and not-so-oily exterior with well executed chicken (marinated and tenderized) and a perfectly cooked assortment of vegetables.] There was the delicious and large California Roll, the heaps of perfectly executed rice, copious amounts of packaged sauces for everything, salad, and miso soup. I don't think I've ever had such a kindly presented and large takeout order (except maybe when fine dining spots were doing it during the pandemic).Overall I strongly recommend Qing Mu."
"Stopped here for lunch while doing some after-Christmas shopping. I like the location because there are plenty of other food options nearby, so if you're with a group like I was, everyone can get what they want and then meet back at one of the nearby tables.I got the hibachi meal with chicken. There are several protein options to choose from, some of which add a $1 premium. You can also pay slightly more for two proteins instead of one. For my base I went with fried rice, and finally for my dipping sauce I selected their Ginger Sauce. The chicken had nice flavor and was mostly good, save for a couple of pieces that were too hard/chewy. I really liked the stir-fried vegetables that came with the meal, and found that each vegetable was cooked nicely. For example, the broccoli was soft and tender, while the onion and zucchini retained some crunch. Just how I like them. The description for the Ginger Sauce I chose said it went best with seafood, but I still liked it with the chicken. It had a little bite from the ginger along with some sweetness. One disappointing thing about the meal was the fried rice. There was so much of it but I found it to be dry and not very flavorful. I barely ate any of it.The hibachi meal also comes with miso soup, which is a nice touch. I just wish it had more miso flavor.Service was good and and everyone behind the counter seemed to really be hustling because the place was packed on my visit."
"My husband and I love this spot for dinner. We have been multiple times and always look forward to dinner here. They have so many options regardless of your dietary restrictions. Even when they are packed their service is impeccable. It is also a BYOB which is an added bonus. This place is a hidden gem."
"This place is an institution. I've been to the Chinatown location many, many times over the years, and it has always been a reliable place for great ramen in Philly. I would typically get their signature Terakawa Ramen, sometimes with wavy noodles.I've since tried other items on the menu and would say that my other go-to dishes are the Karaage Chicken Curry (or simply just the Karaage Chicken appetizer), especially at this University City location. The service is okay - it's a pretty casual spot."
"Food was so customizable and DELICIOUS. Inside was welcoming, warm with cool decor. Service was quick and the staff here are so kind !!"
"Best ramen place in Fishtown for sure. I went here on a date and really enjoyed the slow-cooked pork broth and the slight bite to the noodles. The chashu and marinated egg didn't disappoint either.Hajimaru also sells mini rice bowls as an add-on order to the ramen for only $4. If I had more room in my stomach, I would've tried it. They also had plenty of sushi rolls for people who don't want ramen or curry. The interior had an izakaya vibe to it with the wooden tables, walls, and plaques in the back. Service was prompt with orders, no complaints."
"New Banh Mi and Vietnamese eats shack on East Passyunk! We're so excited to welcome MoonNight onto East Passyunk! Looking forward to trying out the Vietnamese entrees that are on the menu!As for what I ordered when I went, we got 2 of the lunch specials with BBQ Chicken Banh Mi, Lychee Tea, Green Forest Sunset Tea, Egg Pudding, and Taro Pudding. The BBQ Chicken Bahn Mi was phenomenal! The chicken really tasted like it came straight off a barbeque grill. It was such a pleasant taste, and the chicken was quite juicy. The Lychee Tea was good! It's Lychee flavor is a bit subtle but personally I thought it was still enjoyable and good to go alongside a Banh Mi.The Green Forest Sunset Tea was okay, I personally didn't like that the seeds were still in the drink, it gave an unpleasant mouth feel and crunch. It was a bit too sour for my taste. The mango jelly in both drinks though tasted amazing! It reminded me of those mango jelly lychee cups I used to eat in the plastic tubs growing up!The Egg Pudding was hands down the best way to end this meal! The flavors were so complex and tasted amazing. There's a bit of a caramelized taste from the liquid and a light coffee taste as well. The Egg Pudding itself wasn't overly sweet and tasted like a very solid Egg Pudding. The Taro Pudding tasted good. Very light Taro taste, but more like a powdered Taro taste. I'm not a huge fan of Taro, so I feel like I can't really comment on the quality of the Taro taste, but as someone who isn't a fan of Taro it tasted good.I'd definitely come back here again to try out the other items on their menu, or honestly just to grab another lunch special!"
"I'm typically skeptical of restaurants that claim to specialize in both sushi and some other type of cuisine. I have to admit though that Otaka was pleasantly surprising. I had the Ichi Spicy Ramen and it was fantastic. The noodles had just the right amount of firmness, the broth was flavorful but not overly salty, and the pork was tender and tasty. I also had an eel and avocado roll because I had to know if Otaka could truly be good at both sushi and ramen. Turns out they are! The service was also great. Very helpful and people seemed genuinely happy to be there. I'm so glad they decided to open in Newtown Square. I'm definitely looking forward to going back."
