John F. "We recently held a 2-year-old birthday party at the Wyndmoor Firehouse down the street from this location. We live across the country so we had never had the food before. We heard from a few different people that it was consistently good. We decided we would give it a shot for our 40 guests. The party was at 3:00 p.m. so we were not looking for lunch or dinner, but instead some easy finger foods. The recommendation was tacos and hoagie slices. We ordered both, and added churros to the order as an additional finger food dessert. We heard from many guests that they really enjoyed all of the food, and the quantity provided by Tony's Pizza City was enough that we were able to leave plenty of leftovers for the local police and first responders. The pricing for all of the different food options we were presented was more than reasonable. We would highly recommend discussing catering options with Luciano if you have a need."

It's a small local shop that provides good taste. The pizza had good flavor, and the crust was thick and chewy, not burned. I like thick crust (instead of thin). The garlic sticks weren't too garlicky, and we usually prefer something stronger taste and more melt in your mouth homemade."

It did NOT pass the price or eye test but son of a gun I liked it. The roll looked bready but collapsed nicely around the meat. I would have liked more meat but it had a lot of meat flavor. The cheese, onions and mushrooms all kind of got lost but weren't really missed. I would have liked to save whatever the mushrooms cost."

Since she graduated and moved home, I haven't had an excuse to make the 3-hour drive here, but I happened to be in-town for an exhibit at the Franklin Institute and I decided to take advantage. The pepperoni pizza is JUST as good (if not better) than I remember from a decade ago! They're doing renovations inside, so there wasn't a place for us to sit and eat, but we sat in our car with the steaming hot box sitting on the dashboard and scarfed down 75% of the pizza within minutes. It was delicious, with a crispy crust and yummy sauce and the CHEESE PULL when biting into it is no joke.I still love this place, and even if I'm living outside of DC now, the next time I'm in the Philly area, I'm coming back!"

My husband and I shared The Paulie and The Vinny's Vodka Sauce pizzas and have to say they are definitely worth the hype. Warren W. "This place is a Roxborough neighborhood staple. My dear friend Dee introduced me to it.First, it's not "destination dining," though I think you'd be hard pressed to find any place in Roxborough that deserves that particular appellation. It's in a strip mall so there is no beautiful antique bar or trendy art work. Whenever I'd come here with Dee, though, this place always reminded me of where one would go for a family celebratory treat kind of meal-like if one of the kids got a good report card or someone made the softball team. Dee used to take her late mother here once a week after they both got mani/pedis. When my 22 year old long haired Flame Point cat died in her sleep, Dee immeditely drove to my house, bundled me into her car and brought me here. We did not mention the cat's passing but being in a friendly place was a tremendous comfort. When our server saw tears running silently down my cheeks, God love her, she came over with a bagged, boxed piece of cheesecake and whispered to me that she hoped this would cheer me up. Only in Philly. You'll find standard American/Italian food at Mister P.'s. The menu is enormous. Service was always friendly, fast and accommodating. I've had their 14 inch pizzas, their strombolis, calzones, Italian hoagies, meatball sandwiches (divine!), pasta fagioli, jumbo shrimp platter, plain old green side salad, their cannolis and so much more that I can no longer recall. I can say honestly that I never had a bad or unsatisfying meal and after my first visit here, I was always treated like a regular. When our server learned on my first visit that I had just moved back to Philly after a long stay on the West coast, she went out of her way to welcome me back and included 4 gratis cannolis to go along with the check for my first dinner at Mister P's. Portions are very large and it was never unusual for the 2 of us to take home enough leftovers for at least 2 more meals after dining here. While the decor is nothing memorable or Instagram worthy, the restaurant as well as the restrooms were always spotless and we were never given sticky menus. If that sounds weird, then you have never eaten at a place that does not give their plastic coated menus a good, thorough wipe down-front and back at the close of business day.You can go to Fiorella, Fiore, Via Locusta or any number of places in Center City, East Passyunk or South Philly for very fine, "authentic" Italian cuisine but I doubt you'll be served and treated with the same warmth and caring we always found here."

I'm confused."And so we set out to try them all on a pizza crawl. We shared a cheese slice at each stop in order to pace ourselves. Lorenzo's was our last stop. I don't think I'd ever had their pizza before. After the gargantuan slices oozing with cheese at the other two places, Lorenzo's slice was aesthetically the least impressive. The slice was a reasonable portion--I can't call it small--and was just $2.50. (An XL 18" pie is only $14.)But what it lacked in looks this slice made up for in flavor. We both liked it best of the three. The sauce was the secret weapon. I found something comforting and familiar about it. It wasn't sweet and had more tomato flavor. You could also see the herbs and spices on the slice, which improved the flavor. The crust was a bit thicker than the others but was crispy and good."

Corropolese rolls stand on their own but it is George's pizza and not Jim's. Very good roll, with or without the toasting. The meat had a good flavor. We were told the food would be ready within 15-20 minutes and they were dead on! My husband was in and out of the restaurant in minutes of arrival with dinner. We went for the family special #5- two cheesesteaks and 10 wings. One was ordered with cheese, the other without; both with raw onions and peppers. They forgot the pepper but we weren't charged for it and everything else was right.I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Everything was fresh out of the kitchen and warm. The wings were small and not totally white meat, but very juicy. The hot sauce was standard but good. All and all tasty. The steaks were great! Mine was with cheese that was perfectly melted with the meat and onion. The onion itself was a red onion; I subscribe to the red onion is healthier theory so it was a plus for me. The bread was nicely toasted- not too crisp but not too flimsy. The sandwich was 8 inches and not too overstuffed. The entire order hit the spot.I'm glad I finally gave this place a shot- I'll definitely be going back for steak sandwiches and would like to see what else they have to offer."

We asked if we could sit inside with our meal, but they rudely said no and that we had to order inside to be able to sit inside. Didn't know what difference it would've made considering it was empty. We ended up eating in the car. Onto the food- this is legit my favorite pizza! The crust was the perfect amount of crispness. The sauce was saucy. I prefer a little liquidity than tomato flavored. I was mildly surprised that they weren't overly busy on Father's Day at 6 p.m. but they weren't dead either. It seemed like the perfect night to try them. My wife and I split the Stromboli Egg Rolls. They had a nice and crispy exterior with lots of meat filling. Definitely has a little more of an oily taste to it which isn't necessarily a bad thing but some might think they're a little on the greasy side. But it's not a cheap kind of oily if you know what I mean. The flavor of the peppered ham comes through in some bites more than others. That red pepper gravy is phenomenal though. I would take some to go if I could just to have at home. Maybe a little less oil and a little more spicy ham and this is a total winner. But we both liked it. She ordered a pepperoni pizza which I also tasted. The cup style pepperoni is a good touch. She loved the crust to it, which had a nice crisp and sweetness to it. I wasn't getting much sauce flavor in the initial taste. Pepperoni can overwhelm that to be fair. But toward the end of the slice I caught a good taste and loved the kick it had. It wasn't an overwhelmingly great pizza, but it was a good enough restaurant style pizza. I like it when the sauce is bold throughout but that's a personal preference. I went with Chicken Parmesan. For $27, I had high expectations. I'd say the majority of them were met. The portion is huge, first plus. The Sunday Gravy is fantastic. I tasted it separately and really enjoyed the depth of flavor, second plus. The chicken was juicy and tender, third plus.I'd say the breading on it was good and crispy, but it was slightly overdone in spots. I bring that up because at times the flavor of the breading in a bite would counter the sauce flavor to the point where it wouldn't come through. It's a shame because the sauce on its own is that good. It's a very subtle thing. The cheese comes out firm and not gooey, which some may like or not like based on texture preferences (I did for the record). My boy gave the thumbs up on his chicken fingers and fries. He's easy. I did take home some of their creme brûlée. It's gone now. Ain't nothing wrong with it at all. The dessert menu looks like a winner. I'm going to say that this place has a ton of potential. I'm rooting for them in a big way to succeed. And this was a good meal in a lot of ways. But I can see the opportunities to improve too. Thankfully they're minor in my mind."

They have every item in the world you can think of but I've never had a bad meal here. Except that one time I tried a quesadilla. But overall it's one of the few quick eat n' go spots left on Baltimore Ave IMO. The main attraction here is the pizza. I love their "mini-pizza" option. They don't sell buy the slice, but the mini pizza is so worth the wait. An average slice of 3-4 hour old pizza anywhere in west philly will cost between $3.00-4.00 dollars so paying $3.50-4.75 is a bad deal at all. You have to wait 5-10min but that's what games on your phone are for. The pizza is a classic slightly greasy, crusty edged, cheesy as hell pizza. It's not cute. Just the way I like it. Michael R. "One of the things that I like the most about Giovanni's is that it very much feels like an old time, community diner. It is not pretentious, it doesn't set out to create culinary works of art. Instead, it provides a variety of approachable and tasty Italian favorites, with a ridiculously large menu that can satisfy everyone in your group, at a fair price that doesn't break the bank. Whether you're in the mood for pizza, pasta, or an offering of shared appetizers, the food is very well priced, enjoyable, and served in very large portions. In fact, you may want to consider splitting some dishes if you are in a smaller group or not quite as hungry. For example, a personal size pizza can easily be split between two adults. The appetizers are good enough, and hearty enough, to serve as the main entrée. I love seeing Fried Zucchini on the menu. I feel like fewer and fewer places offer this one-time staple. The pizza is nice and cheesy, with a soft (but not soggy) crust. The shrimp fra diavolo is the perfect amount of spicy, with perfectly cooked shrimp. The kids offerings, including pizza slices are very generous. The appetizers are some good ol, fried comfort food. We came away stuffed and had a whole second meal of leftovers the next day. The staff is incredibly friendly, very engaging and attentive to all customers. It's really nice to go into a place and feel like the staff really wants to provide an amazing experience for customers. The atmosphere of the restaurant has a diner type vibe, it's very lively, and very welcoming in addition to being warm and inviting. You instantly feel at ease and that you're already a repeat customer. Again, it's the little things that set a dining experience apart. The owner of Giovanni's is also very community minded and supportive of local families. It's always a pleasure to come out and to support him and his team. They do right by their community. We love this place and can't wait to go back."
