"I've had a slight El Gordo addiction ever since I tried it a few weeks ago. IThey have three locations: Collegeville, Norristown, and KOP. At the Norristown location, I ordered two $1.50 beef tacos, and it came with a side of beans and chips. Service is always prompt and speedy. The tacos at El Gordo is particularly indulgent with a delightful flavor blast that pleases the senses. The homemade green and red sauce pair well with the tacos. I thoroughly enjoy every meal I've had at El Gordo, and I don't think my addiction can be kicked anytime soon!"
"Came here with my partner for a lil taco celebration this weekend. I come for the margs and tacos but I stay because I love the vibez. Who doesn't love tacos, nachos, margaritas ?!Well besides my partner who doesn't drink during Ramadan so it was spirit-free for him. He tried the tropical avocado Fresca and the prickly pear lemonade. Yumm!!I'm normally a Cadillac Margarita girl as long as it's 100% blue agave and no box mix I'm good to go. I was a sucker for the Aztec Old Fashioned though and it was a great choice.Tuna tacos to die for. Overflowing with tuna. All the other tacos I tried I loved and pour me some of that hot salsa please.Staff was great and friendly. Happy to be there!"

I wasn't expecting much but I got a lot of yumminess!!!! I ordered rice and beans with avocado and chicken wings and I'm so happy I did everything was delicious. Thank you so much! Keep up the deliciousness!"
"So I've recently decided to take my own personal foray into the local mexican cuisine, due to the fact that I crave chorizo and warm tortillas approximately every 45 minutes or so. I went to La Poblanito the other night with some friends from work, on 'karaoke' night. To a gringo, it was a slightly weird, but mostly fun and friendly setup. You walk in to a room that's almost completely empty, with chairs set up all around the walls and a DJ or two up on a small makeshift stage which kind of gave it the feeling of a high school dance. As everything was in spanish, all I can figure out was that they'd have a little karaoke and then a little dancing, and it would go back and forth. Whatever the set up was, it was still pretty fun. Unfortunately, I would not really recommend people as white as myself to go alone. Not because you wouldn't be welcome, because I definitely felt welcome, but just.. it was a weird set up. But tonight, I went for food! And it was good! I ordered a cemita, which I figured to be a mexican sandwich. So I asked if it was similar to a torta, to which I was told no. However.. kind of came out looking just like the last torta I had at El Limon, just with a different kind of roll. Oh well, it was suuper delicioso. I ordered mine with al pastor - a spicy, marinated pork. It was really flavorful, definitely had a little kick, and was kind of half tender, half a little chewy depending on where you chewed. If that makes sense. Also had avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, chiles, and several other things that all melded together really well. Didn't come with a side, but the huge sandwich was only 6 bucks! My friend ordered the chiles rellenos, possibly my favorite mexican entree item. It was maybe 8 or 9 bucks, and came with two chiles and a huge portion of rice and beans and corn tortillas. It looked ridiculously good, but unfortunately we were not good enough of friends for me to feel okay stealing his fork as I was not given utensils with my sandwich. Oh, also I just reread Joey's post and it was a good thing I hadn't read it before my visit. I would have loved to have tried the complimentary nachoey thing he received; we were given a basket of the weirdest chips I've ever seen. Have you ever gotten a bag of puffed potato chips in the shape of smiley faces? No, just me? Either way, imagine a basket of those, with a drizzle of hot sauce. Really weird, but luckily our entrees were good enough that I forgot about the chips until just now. I stopped in around 6:30 on a Tuesday night, and the place was empty. So food obviously came out quick, and our server was very nice and even let me order in my stilted spanish. I will definitely be back for more!"
"Best Mexican place in the area. Their portions aren't the biggest but the food is absolutely delicious.Their spicy sauce, habanero and red hot sauce go very well with the food."
"Hasn't changed since the Honest Tom's days. Same fresh ingredients and flavors. All about the special and Halloween sauces!"
"Tamalexian--verb.Of utmost deliciousness; hearty and homecooked. The best food in Philly, period."
"I like everything about this restaurant! You are greeted by a helpful, friendly and personable staff. I'm sure they were the owners/family. The restaurant is extremely clean and nicely but not overly decorated with bright colors and traditional Mexican tapestry. Very inviting scenery with plenty of seats but during Covid they are limiting how many patrons can dine in. My order was to go and 7 miles later it was still warm ready to serve. When it comes to Mexican food I pretty much like everything so there are no favorites that I can measure my burrito with. However this chicken burrito was the most flavorful and delicious items I've had so far this year. Enough to ensure I will return soon."
"Along this portion of 9th Street within the Italian Market area, there are several Mexican and Italian restaurant options. We made a spur of the moment decision to pop into Adelita. So glad we did!The food was authentic! Where can you get cactus as part of your entree! In addition, it was delicious and plentiful at reasonable prices. The service was also personable and helpful. The complimentary chips are nice, but beware that both dipping sauces are quite hot. My husband got the Bistec con Nopales, which he absolutely loved and devoured. I had never tried cactus before; it was good! I went with the recommended Enchiladas Suiza's. It was so tasty with the creamy tomato sauce - one of the less spicy options."
"We had had a rough 48 hours with power outages and no ability to cook, so this was a late night dinner for us to escape the dark hot summer madness. We badly needed air conditioning and a drink as well. This is important later. Our friends had recommended this place, but we were skeptical because we know that we would be picky about Mexican food having lived in San Antonio.Agave is a comfortable unassuming place with about 10 tables and a small bar. Previously, this location had been a WaWa. While it took a while for our server to acknowledge us, once the service started it was fine and she was friendly. At times I struggled to make out what she was saying over the music. It could have been the volume or my aging concert expert ears. At least she didn't complain about having to repeat herself. The evening started off with some margaritas. I ordered the El Matador with a sugar rim (they didn't have tajin). My wife ordered something jalapeno infused. Round two she shifted to my drink because it was delicious. The El Matador is a delicious drink with a blood orange liqueur. I'm glad that I had the inspiration to ask for a sugar rim because it took it to the next level. For appetizer we order the queso with chorizo. I'm assuming what was delivered was more traditional than what I was expecting. While tasty, as my wife said it "required too much work" when compared to a dip. I would skip next time. For dinner, I ordered the Tuesday special fajitas, requesting a mix of steak and shrimp. My wife ordered the Bronzino a la Veracruzana (sea bass with capers and olives in white wine). The shrimp pieces were massive knuckle busters and the steak tender and delicious. The black beans and rice were cooked to perfection. I wasn't totally on board with the spices used, but I rolled with it and had a delicious dinner. During our dinner we got a notification that the power had been returned at our house! Ironically, the Agave lost power later during our meal. Luckily, we had no plans for desert and by the time it was time for the bill the power had been restored, so there was no need for an emergency run to a WaWa atm. If only they had left one here during the renovation! lol.We will be back. My second choice from the menu was going to be a chicken enchilada but request the Mole sauce instead."
""Catrachos" are native Honduran, and this restaurant serves Mexican and Honduran food. I believe this is the only place in the city with Honduran food. The first thing we ordered was a chorizo and potato pambazo, pambazos are Mexican sandwiches where the bread is soaked in a red sauce. I had an awesome one at American Sardine Bar ages ago. While I liked the sandwich, especially the spicy meat and potato filling, but I think the bread soaking is a tricky art form and I wasn't completely sold. We were, however, totally blown away by the al pastor tlayoco. Tlacoyos are a street food I remembered from Mexico, they are masa patties that in addition to serving as vessels for proteins, are also stuffed with things like beans. We got them topped with al pastor ($7). Besides enjoying the tlacoyos themselves, we have to talk about the pork. This may be some of the best al pastor style pork in the city! So crispy, so much flavor. Oh, and the pupusas we took home were pretty good too."
"Delicious tacos and awesome service! We especially loved the el pastor tacos and will definitely be back."

Some of the best tacos in the area.Skip the $1.50 taco on Tuesdays as the amount of protein has shrunk over time but order the regular tacos which are about $3.50 and they are about 2x the meat and more satisfying.Small quesadilla is quite large and yummy.Carne asada, carnitas and Al pastor are the best.

I would give 6 stars if I could!!! Such a great addition to Havertown! The food is delicious, love the vibe and the service is amazing!!!The pineapple express wings were AMAZING! I saw some instagram stories saying to get them and our server Marissa (who was the sweetest by the way) sealed the deal by saying awesome they were- she was right!!! I am not a huge wing person and could have eaten 20 of them! The guac is so good and fresh; served with warm chips. My husband and I both got fajitas- shrimp and steak, soooo good! Also the cucumber marg was great, strong (not mad about that) and delicious!Adding this in because my husband is a huge sports guy- the Phillies ended and within minutes they put on March Madness games- no awkward gap where you're watching infomercials for hours (it is his pet peeve haha). So happy that Al Pastor is in town! Can't wait to return!

Let me say first that I was expecting a typical restaurant , where I could converse with friends... not so much. This is a restaurant, bar and lounge. It's LOUD friends! The food is really on point though. My husband and I shared the Havana mussels, which were in a slightly spicy and very savory thin red sauce, and the ropa vieja, which was soooo tender and yummy. The portions are very substancial. The service was great. Really, who needs to talk!

A little bit pricey but good quality tacos. The Al Pastor pork was a bit tougher than I'd like, but the pineapple and pork flavors melded together nicely inside their fresh tortilla. The shrimp taco almost tasted like shrimp salad with it's mayo style dressing. The shrimp was well executed and the overall combination of flavors was good. For the fish taco, I found the fish to be just slightly more chewy than I'd like. But still a good taco with fresh fish and toppings.

Another tasty Mexican spot not on 9th st! GREAT pupusas! I could eat these for every meal for the rest of my life and die happy. Slapped some of their salsas on each bite and enjoyed the side pickled salad thing. My shrimp burrito also had easily over a dozen shrimp in it, it not more. Hefty and very good. Added more salsas for some heat, and it did fall apart on me, but I think that was due to user error. I'm coming back to try their flautas and sopes

Fresh, flavorful and filling. 3 shrimp tostadas with extra shrimp and a side of guacamole for $21. Made in a timely manner. Ordered via delivery service and my food is delicious.

Be careful! Was good.Sweet Plantains $8 great snack even after taking it home for the next dayEverything we ordered was great portion size to share among the two of us."
"You would pass it if I didn't tell you about it. Right next to the McDonald's on Lancaster, this new space is BYOB but they have horchata... don't sleep! This is a family business and the food is fresh with a ton of flavor. Hearty portions and great churros! The reviews are right, this is the spot. Go and go again. Pleasant friendly service with a smile in a clean open space you can see the kitchen."
"Well, I had not been to the previous Mexican place that was here, but the food today was good. Service was nice.. I only got a couple tacos and they came with a couple sauces. Also got the cinnamon rice milk, which was huge and good. My review is only a small sampling, but they are above average Mexican ( certainty better than chain options)"
"3.5 stars.Decent meal here. Chips dropped off right away and a couple homemade hot sauces as well. Prices on their menu off their website not accurate. My chorizo torta was $12.49 (website shows $9.99), I thought that was too cheap and I was correct. It was quite good. My wife enjoyed her chicken enchiladas. They were heated in some manner in a microwave and not an oven, which was unfortunate. My daughter had chicken tacos with just cheese and they were enjoyed. They are street taco sized. They take your order at your seat and you pay at the register when done."
"I am so excited to have this spot open up right around the corner from my house. You don't have a lot of good restaurants in this area. Le Bus is good, In Riva went down hill after the flood and black squirrel suxxx. So thank you so much for opening and on top of that it is delicious! My favorite part was the lime mousse with cookie crumbles. That was one of the best deserts I've had. We also got Churros which were perfectly crispy. We started with pineapple Guacamole. That was delicious. Not a large dish though. Which actually turned out to be a good thing since everything else was so large. We both got margaritas. Mine non alcoholic and hers alcoholic. Mine was excellent. She didn't think hers was alcoholic enough. I got the Cemita with the slow roasted pork. It was something I've never seen at any other Mexican restaurant. We sat at the front bar that is just open to the street. It was a beautiful view. Perfect date night with my wife. We will be regulars."
"Very much enjoyed our dinner at El Mezcal Cantina! We walked in and were able to snag a 2-top near the open kitchen/pizza oven. Loved the wall mural, the atmosphere--lovely service throughout the evening--and the michelada! We shared:- Guacamole Chipotle (chipotle, roasted corn, served with tostadas), which I could've eaten two of--the chipotle gave a lovely smokiness and heat, but the latter was not overwhelming.- De Trompo tacos (marinated pork, adobo, cilantro, onion, pineapple), which were so. darn. good. Will definitely be getting them again.- Carnitas Al Mezcal brick oven pizza (pork ribs in black marinade, jalapeno, mezcal sauce), which had a delightfully chewy and crunchy crust. The ribs had some tough bits, but the green salsa served alongside was terrific!Cannot wait to return with a larger dining group so we can try the remainder of the menu!"
"I've been here twice now and really like it! I had a great experience both times. They have a pretty big menu with lots to choose from. The margaritas are huge and delicious. They give you complimentary chips and salsa to start which tastes great. On my most recent visit, I ordered the los cocos special. It comes with two quesadillas, one chicken and one steak and a side of Mexican rice. It was SO good. Both meats were so flavorful and the rice was perfect. And it was a big portion too. Both times I've came here the service was good. The price is reasonable. This is a small chain which I had no idea, it doesn't feel like a chain at all. Great Mexican spot."
"Really solid spot based on my first visit. I'd say it's one of the best new spots to have opened up recently. The staff of El Cafe and the POD hotel (where El Cafe is located in) were all extremely nice. The actual area where you order is pretty small but once you walk further back it's a huge open space where you can pretty much sit anywhere. The space across from the bar/Condesa is really chill, and honestly seems like it could be a good study or work spot to post up at. In terms of the food I only got the chorizo breakfast taco and a horchata latte. Both were really good, but I'd say the taco ($5.50 for the chorizo one) is relatively small. For the quality of the ingredients the price makes sense, but you'll definitely want to get two tacos or one of their pastries if you're hungry. Will definitely be back to try some of their other stuff."
"I haven't eaten here in a few years, but randomly stopped in to get a shrimp quesadilla to see if it was as good as I remembered. The prices did go up as in most places, but the food was just as hefty and filling as before. I also ordered two chicken tacos because why not. Food overall only took a good 20 minutes to be ready. The chicken tacos were nicely filled, but the shells were a little softer than I like. The flavor was vibrant with strong nodes of cilantro in every bite. I ate the tacos in-house, but took the shrimp quesadilla with me. I literally didn't eat it for an hour later and the texture was still the same. I usually take a slice of carrot cake to go, but this time I ordered the Pastel de Tres Leches. There are some spots that give 1 small piece of Tres Leches for $5, but La Guera gives a nice sized cake piece for $6. It doesn't get better than that. And theirs is darn good.Definitely stopping by here for lunch soon."
"I have now been to 6 or 7 of the 14 El Limon's and last night we had LIGHTENING-FAST service and huge mason jars of (very sweet) FREE margarita.Chips were freshly fried and we got pico AND guacamole which were both very fresh tasting. The pico had a fairly strong jalapeno/onion "bite" so maybe they got a really spicy batch. My friend had 3 tacos and I had a shrimp tostada ($5!).I also ordered my man a veggie burrito ($12) to go which he enjoyed.Be aware there is a 3% cash discount (i.e. - they charge more for using a card) so luckily, we had cash.Unlike a few years ago - service is much improved and the food is still great and in today's crazy-expensive world - a good value, too."
"I came to Xolo Tacos with the in-laws to try something new. We ate outside in their tent on the side of their parking lot. They brought out tortilla chips and a few sauces. I preferred the spicy salsa, good heat but had even better flavor. I got the al pastor fajitas, my wife got enchiladas and split them with our daughter. My mother-in-law got the taco salad and my father-in-law the burrito. Everyone was pleased with our meal. For the quality of the meal the price point was really good. The staff was very attentive and made sure we had refills on sodas and that our order came out correctly. I could definitely see us coming back at some point soon. The Bryn Mawr/ Ardmore / Haverford area is really saturated with really good Hispanic restaurants and Xolo Taco's is now in the rotation for us."
"I got here around noon and saw three ladies busy cooking. I could tell that it's for a big order by the smell and the smoke from the food that filled this small taqueria. The exhaust system must not be working and I was surprised that the fire alarm wasn't triggered. One order of the tacos consists of 3 soft tortilla tacos filled with the fillings of your choice and the toppings. Plus a big whole jalapeño, cactus, radish, and lime slices. You definitely will not regret paying $9."
"Service: super nice ladies who run this food truck. I couldn't comprehend this drink she mentioned to me, so she gave me a sample of it. I thought that was nice and a good sale on her end.Food: al pastor was juicy and infused with flavors! Chunks of tender meat along with chunks of pineapples on top! Love that they gave roasted jalapeño and a slab of nopales.Ambiance: surprised people don't line up for this joint but it's literally on the corner of 8th and wolf, across from the school.8.9/10"
"Solid Mexican food in East Norriton with reasonable prices and a friendly, helpful team. We got the T-bone with shrimp, chicken burrito, and the #20 combo with a beef burrito, chicken enchilada, and beef taco - all of which were very solid. The staff here are very friendly and attentive, as well. Will be back to try more of the menu!"
"Trejo Restaurant on Swede Street, just down a bit from the Montgomery County Courthouse, is a very good casa Mexicana in the heart of Norristown. It has about ten tables and a small kitchen in the back corner. The menu has a full monte of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. The people working there appear to be family and are likely ownership. They are friendly, hospitable and seem proud of their establishment. It was late lunchtime, so a small Torta (sandwich) of thin sliced breaded beef caught my attention. When it arrived I knew that the adjective "small" was not really operative. This was a mega-sliced opus at least three inches thick, layered with beans, lettuce, avocado, tomato and spicy mayo, all held in a fresh roll with extra long toothpicks. The crisp fries were nice, but totally over the top unnecessary. The torta was great. Too wide for my jaws to clench, I partially deconstructed it by removing a couple of layers of the tasty res empanada, and rebooting it to a manageable dimension. From there, every bite was a delicious combination of all the ingredients exploding in my mouth. At $10 I felt bad that I couldn't finish it. Still, it was one of the better authentic Mexican plates I have enjoyed in long while. The good news is that my Norristown office is right down the street, so Trejo can become a regular stop when I am here for office meetings."
"The food here is great!! I love love their nachos! Love the picked onions and the "expensive cheese" that they use lol. The burrito my husband got had a little too much rice and beans. Their chicken tinga is flavored well. Ive also had their korean inspired dishes and loved the fusion flavor. I have gotten food through door dash and also sat their to eat and both experiences were good! Great mexican food in the neighborhood."
"Clean, well lit establishment with a very simple Mexican menu. Quick service with a smile. Got the Red Sombrero burrito and a side of chips and guacamole.. Best to call ahead and order.. make sure you order from the correct storefront.. the have another store I. kennett square."
"I burst through the doors of Frida Cantina with my friend Zack and we had a purpose and it was fueled by tequila. We made it just in time leaving out jobs early to make it to the 4-6 happy hour that offers $5 drafts and $8 margarita made fresh on point! The atmosphere was inviting with a rustic charm and colorful decor. Especially the most beautiful bar in the city. See photosUpon arriving, we were promptly greeted by Perez, who was friendly and accommodating. He asked for our preference of an assortment of FRESH margarita flavors, and Zack chose mango while I chose classic. We were enamored by how authentic and delicious the drinks were, as always. The tequila was smooth and well-balanced with the other ingredients, making for a refreshing and satisfying beverage. For starters, we ordered the ceviche which was fresh and flavorful, and it was inhaled by the two of us in no time. For our main course, we ordered the suadero tacos, which had a perfect combination of textures and flavors, while Zack ordered steak/chorizo tacos, which were juicy and full of flavor. After happy hour was over, we decided to explore the drink menu and were imbibed by mojitos and mezcal margs. The mojito was made with fresh mint and lime, and the mezcal margarita had a smoky and complex flavor that was perfectly balanced with the other ingredients.Overall, I highly recommend Frida Cantina. The quality of the food and drink is top-notch, and the service is exceptional. We spent $20 plus an Uber ride because we knew Frida does not f around on their quality of food and drink. This happy hour went down in history as a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine and drinks.Note happy hour is 4-6 Monday -Friday Uber/Lyft highly recommendedGreat for date night Authentic Margs made with all fresh ingredients like agave."
"Okay I ate everything too fast to take a picture of everything I ordered but everything tasted absolutely delicious! I docked a star because I instructed for certain toppings to not be on my burrito but it's all good I'm not super pickey however my friend is so this ruined their experience. The corn was a little spicy but definitely the highlight of my meal. Love the vibe here and will return for yet another yummy experience!"
"A great place to eat! You can taste the authenticity in the cooking! The tortillas taste like they're made at home, the meat is well cooked and seasoned.. I had the idea of adding birria to my quesadilla to create a quesabirria quesadilla and asked for consomé broth on the side to dip, I 100% recommended this! The marg was good, lightly strong but it was a Margarita. The churros weren't the best but they weren't terrible, it was something missing in the prep. I think had they'd been a little softer to the bite they'd have been great."
"HOLY SHITT. Ok so I ordered from here last night. I had a long day of cinco de mayo celebrating and DISCLAIMER was under the influence of some taste-enhancers, be forewarned about the potential for bias.I would also just like to announce as a side note that this was my SECOND time consuming nachos on this particular day because I am a firm believer of the "when in rome" adage. Walking home from festivities, my girlfriend was making no secret of the fact that she was hungry. I suffer from a serious condition called always-hungryitis and had since probably an hour or two after stuffing my face with mexican for brunch felt like I had another nacho-session in me. "Mexican" was a no-brainer on caviar and I was feeling wild so I obviously chose the place whose name I couldn't even entertain attempting to pronounce. Nachos (special instructions: NO MEAT for my vegetarianism) and vegetable quesadilla (special instructions: NO ONIONS or MUSHROOMS bc as a vegetarian I like to narrow my options to literally 2 items on earth). Post-cinco-de-mayo festivities (quite possibly literally the only activity where being interrupted by the arrival of food causes frustration, actually I can think of a few others like sleeping or showering) were abruptly interrupted when my phone rang. So my memory is hazy for reasons stated above but I can tell you without a glitter of doubt that the nachos were SPECTACULAR. Jesus christ. Lettuce, tomatoes, that like white powdery shit that's cheese apparently and the chips weren't even soggy or if they were I DGAF. I was actually dreaming about these nachos during the entirety of today. The veggie quesadilla was DELICIOUS as well and they actually followed my instructions unlike many other places I've had the divine pleasure of ordering from. Lol, you know what I did actually? I'm such a sneaky bitch that as you'll notice the quesadilla comes with 4 wedges so I ate 2 and my GF ate 1 and then we both stopped eating so upon going back to eat more I made like we were even and split the last one in half and ate half of it LOL. I'm lolling at the thought. Sucker. (jk luff u babe, you know I don't take prisoners when it comes to post-imbibing food consumption). Anyways order from this place it's fucking BOMB."
"This unassuming spot consistently serves some of the best Mexican food I've had in Philly. It's the only place in the city where I've had a decent taco, the burritos and nachos also excellent, and the salsa is top notch. Seems like a family run spot, so I'm happy to support them. Bonus points for offering online ordering. The food is ready pretty quickly also. Seriously, I swore off getting tacos in Philly until trying this place. Definitely give them a shot!"
"OMG. This place is the real deal. Just opened. Packed. Long wait. Worth it. Thick cut chips, line and salt is just right. Good guacamole and salsas (and I do not care for either normally). Had their street tacos. Nice value at $9.99 for three. Nicely stuffed full of simple goodness. Limited indoor seating. Nice options outside but not going to work on a cold rainy day. But take it to go and snarf it down in the car! Cannot wait to return."
