I was not disappointed. Friendly environment. Quick and easy service. The food was absolutely delicious. They do have tables and chairs available if you want to eat inside. Please be warned, the jerk chicken is spicy. I'm sure that they can accommodate on the spiciness. Just let them know.

Friendly owner and very yummy food. I went with a couple of my friends, we all got different things and everyone loved their food. My friend was born in Jamaica and it got her stamp of approval. It doesn't really have an ambiance, the tables are close together and it looks kind of dull in there so if you're looking to have a nicer sit down meal I wouldn't really recommend. Its pretty casual, but hey were here for the food and it was delicious. Prices were fair too.

This spot has been on my radar for quite some time and I finally had a craving strong enough to finally get me here. I had the medium jerk chicken platter with extra rice and peas instead of an extra side and extra sauce. The jerk was spicy and sweet. The peas and rice had the perfect texture. My only minor complaint is the way the chicken was chopped I often found tiny bones in my mouth that had to be spit out. That might deter me from getting that dish again but I'd be willing to try the oxtails and stew.

I haven't had Jamaican food in a while. Not because I didn't want any but it was hard to find good food. Well I stopped by Irie today for lunch and I have found a solid spot! I ordered jerk chicken, rice and peas and plantains. Let's talk about the jerk chicken. Outside of getting jerk chicken in JA it's hard to find jerk that comes close. Irie's jerk is slightly smoky, salty, sweet with a nice kick which is a nice balance when paired with rice and peas. The bonus was the oxtail gray on the rice! Oh. MY. God. The gravy was a nice treat because there were tiny chunks of oxtail meat in it. The plantains were firm but sweet and just right. The service was great because I was told in advance that I would have to wait 10 minutes for the plantains which I could've opted out and chose something else but I wasn't in a rush. Overall I had a great experience and will be back for the escovitch. If you know you know. Also, the beef patty with a coco bread...magic.

Why have I not eaten here before? As a qualification, I've Been all over the Caribbean and frequented Jamaica for years. Been to Jamaican joints all over the city and suburbs of Philadelphia. Love Jamaican food.Ordered a large jerk chicken with rice and peas and seasoned cabbage, A large ox tail with rice and peas and collards, And a large curry goat with green beans and collards. Everything was spot on and deliciousThe jerk chicken just displaced my old favorite spot and is now in my opinion the best in Philly. Five minutes before getting there to pick it up I remembered to call and ask for a spicy and I'm so glad I did. The sweet tangy spicy flavor of scotch bonnet was pervasive and the chicken was absolutely delicious. I swear I could almost taste pimento smoke. Maybe it was just the authenticity bringing me to a place where memories of smoking pimento wood crossed through my brain barrier to my taste buds...or could they actually do it 100% right in Philly?. Generous portion and lots of gravy on the rice and peas. Bonus. Seasoned cabbage also really yummyThe ox tail was the perfect tenderness. Really delicious too. Also lots of gravy on the rice and peas and the collards on the side we're not dumbed down and had just enough bitterness and natural flavor to really be enjoyable. And the curry goat. Wow. Bursting with flavor. Super juicy. Tender. Love that it spilled over since the portion was so huge and got good juices into the green beans and collard's to give them an extra special kick and that wonderful Goatey punch. We will be going back and trying everything on the menu. After what we've sampled so far I highly doubt anything is less than excellent. Thanks for bringing it real and making me miss the island.

Flavor was great!!!!! Oxtails were huge, but they could've been a bit more tender with more gravy. I think the plantains were delicious.... I was a lil sad when I realized I ate them all haha. I think this place is solid, but I've had Jamaican food in the area with better food, portions & prices.

Found a dead roach in my cabbage and I should've known better because there was one on the stove when I went in to order and was looking at the menu, in the first place. Restaurant is filthy, floors are mucky and I wouldn't tell anyone to buy there unless they were dying and starving (I was starving and said let me give it a try regardless - I know ! Tricks are for kids). The Owner works there and he is a very rude old man especially when you mention something you don't like about his store or if it looks different than the typical Jamaican store and suggests you should buy somewhere else if you don't like his service. -0 is what I would rate it if yelp allowed such a thing.I've bought Jamaican food off of Germantown Ave by Top Notch and another off of Rising Sun by Shanna's and the food is fresh, clean and the staff smiles. I'll never be coming here ever again. Eat at your own risk !

Came in and asked about a menu item having potatoes in it and was met with the most rude responses. Customer service is absolutely terrible and the food has been sitting out for hours. Do NOT Come here
