"I visited on a Tuesday afternoon with a colleague. We came right before lunch hour ended, apparently the restaurant closes from 2:30-3:30. We walked in at 2:15 and we were greeted immediately. We were seated and proceeded to order vegetable samosas, garlic naan, shrimp tikki masala and lamb saag. All of the food came out quickly and piping hot. There were absolutely no complaints from our table about taste, all the spices of the dishes were on point! We're here in Philly for work, but will probably visit this restaurant again to try other things on the menu. The menu is very extensive. The ambiance is quaint and cozy. Also, we were given complimentary honey buns that were delicious. Try them you won't be disappointed."
"It has been difficult to find Indian food locally that is reasonably priced and also delicious. Curry Leaf is our go-to. Not all of our experiences have been perfect, and sometimes dishes can be a little sweeter than we like, but overall, it is a solid choice. When we ask for spicy they actually deliver. While not the best ever, the breads are always good here. Whenever I'm craving Indian food and don't want to cook, this is where I head locally."

"Utsav ("Festival" in Sanscrit) is the latest Indian house at this location on Philmont Avenue near the border between Huntington Valley and Northeast Philadelphia. It serves Kerala style cuisine, and does a particularly good job with vegetarian dishes. The room is bright yellow, matching that shade of curry. We dined alone this Sunday evening, which hopefully is not a sign of their opportunity for success, because we were quite impressed with the quality of the food overall. We ordered the Calamari Cochin appetizer, Chicken Amwalla, Vegetable Salan and Chili Garlin Naan. Pappadam was offered as a table nosh. Enjoyment scaled from decent for the squid, to excellent for the Veggie Salan, with the Amwalla falling in between. An explanation is required. The calamari was the weakest link, and not the best way to start our exploration. It was dusted with a grainy flour similar to corn meal, which didn't really work texturally nor flavorably with the crustacean's own qualities. The onion, green pepper and garlic were sauteed in a heavy oil, which actually became the dominate taste. Just not pleasant when the squid should have been allowed to shine. Yet, the chunky, tender Amwalla was very pleasant with its mango mild curry mix. It was an indication of the playful possibilities in the kitchen. Likewise, the veggie salan was a surprising dish based in freshly cracked and poured coconut milk and yogurt sauce. The highlight of our dinner. The chili garlic naan was well baked and very tasty in its own right and as a handy scoop to capture the great sauces. Service was friendly and informative. Prices reasonable and in a range that encouraged some experimentation. Utsav takes it place among the very good Indian restaurants in the area. Be festive!"
"Ordered from here last night and my rating still stands. Solid Indian food with great flavors overall. Last night my family ordered a few new items and I really enjoyed the chicken Kati roll."
"We had the dinner option at Thanal during Restaurant Week. Décor -the restaurant looks very clean but the décor is very outdated. The word map wall took me back to the 2010s. For its location and prices on the regular menu, I expected a bit more elevation with not only the décor but the plating. Service was fast!Basil Rasam - very spicy and aromatic! The pepper corns at the bottom had a good kick to them. Mulligatawny - definitely a thinner daal, this was really good and not that spicy Kale and Spinach Chat - this is probably one of the top ten things I have ever eaten, instead of samosas, it was fried kale and spinach!!! What a cool twist! I'll be ordering to go this weekend for my mom. The tamarind ... mouth is drooling. Fish 65 - the portion here was enormous. I really like Fish 65 compared to Chicken 65 because the batter isn't as crispy and you can enjoy the actual meat. Highly recommend this dish! Chettinadu Goat Curry - pretty solid and flavorful. Lamb curry - we didn't get that many pieces of meat in this compared to the goat curry. I also felt the lamb was a little tough when I expected it to be more tender. Hot gulab jamun with ice cream - the gulab jamun did not come out piping hot which I was craving and the icecream is very mid. Rice kheer with berry compote - the kheer wasn't that sweet which I actually was okay with. I was excited about the berry compote and thought it was creative fusion concept but the berry compote did not have much flavor and didn't really add to the dish."
"Great new addition to west Philly! Probably the best lamb chops I have had out side of home and I said the same thing in my reel on Instagram! We were extremely happy with our visit, it's a clean atmosphere with both outdoor and indoor seating, the food is fresh, flavorful and appetizing. We had a lovely chat with the owner and are looking forward to future visits. The desserts were amazing too! Lam chops 10/10 Chicken tandoor 9/10 Cheese Garlic Naan 10/10 Tandoori Paneer 7/10 Malai Kulfi 10/10 I definitely will be back to try the biryani and some more Lamb chops."
"I ordered take out from this restaurant a good number of times already. I love their food and very good authentic Indian cuisine. They moved from the plaza on Knight Rd to now relocating on Street Rd Bensalem plaza. Due to Covid, there's no dine in open to their customers, only take outs. Based on the quick chat with the staff/manager, they do take uber eats, grubhub, doordash as well."
"Really disappointed because we've enjoyed the indo Chinese food at other Indian hut location a lot! The chili chicken curry felt like it was just full of soya sauce. The veg Hakka noodles has a strange taste. The veg fried rice was decent: nothing to rave about but it was edible and not weird tasting!"
"Lovash is one of our go to's for Indian takeout/delivery. As someone who loves Indian but has a dairy allergy, I love that I can get vegan saag here and the tofu vegan saag tastes just like saag paneer to me...winning! The husband really likes their chicken tikka masala or lamb vindaloo. It's quick, inexpensive and high quality, plus portions are most definitely sufficient. Recommended, especially for those with dietary restrictions."
"5 stars for the food. Upon seating, the service was a little frustrating because they require a smartphone to order everything. We had to ask several times how to order on the phone because it's tricky. We were annoyed with this & said to ourselves "Omg, take our order!" Aye. But! once the food started coming out, nothing else mattered! It's BYOB, which is great. Drinking wine while we tried to figure out how order probably helped. Lol. Not a bad bite was had, the food covered northern & southern India & had an Indo-Chinese menu. We had appam with goat curry, the eggplant & dal entrees, chicken tikka, a weekend special appetizer- fried dal balls, garlic naan & an onion bread. Everything was absolutely delicious, food was well-priced. Beautiful decor, yet casual enough for kids. Will be my go-to Indian restaurant."
"My family and I went to Maharaja on Mother's Day. It was us and one other family in the restaurant. They had a special buffet for the holiday, so my family opted for that. Many of the dishes had little food or were empty and we were a bit disappointed. The servers did not take our plates away or fill our water. The service was very disappointing but the food was tasty! My family has been here multiple times and they have had good experiences so hoping this is a one time thing. Also wanted to add that they are accommodating and knowledgeable when it comes to vegan options. This is very helpful for our family as we have 2 vegans."

Service 5 starsAmbiance amazingFood: Perfect in portion and in price. Amazing flavors too. Butter chicken was vibrant. Lamb Methi Korma was wonderful and had an appropriate "kick" of heat for "mild" spice level. Bread basket was great and is highly recommended if you're there with a group. Don't remember what our friends got but they know this place well from their previous location and doing takeout during Covid. Highly recommend.

We do love Curry Leaf! It's a treat, as it is pricey, but it is one of the better Indian places around. We just tried their SAAG , and wow! It was amazing! We have ordered from there several times now and have never taken pics, but the food is always delicious and high quality! We usually get butter chicken, which is always so good! Naan to scoop up the rest of the butter chicken sauce, and the fired veggie patty appetizers. So yum! We have also tried the kebobs, some other chicken dishes, and most recently the saag. We got the lamb saag. It was amazing! I will definitely be ordering that again. We have always done pick up, but their restaurant looks beautiful and clean and inviting. We will have to do a dine in there soon!

Stopped in here on a Friday evening because we were at the nearby Hobby Lobby and saw it in the strip mall. My wife and I love Indian food but are fairly picky about where we eat it. Biryani City did not disappoint! If you love Indian cuisine then Biryani City is a must try Indian Restaurant! The service at Biryani City was impeccable. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was great. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about providing a welcoming atmosphere and great service. Their warm hospitality made me feel welcomed and that my experience was valued. One of the highlights of my visit was the staff's extensive knowledge about the menu. The gentleman who waited on us graciously took the time to explain each dish we had questions about in detail, helping me navigate through the many options. Their honest advise allowed me to make informed choices, and my wife and I were thrilled with the food that we ordered! Now, let's talk about the food - it was simply outstanding and the best Indian food I've ever had! Biryani City truly lives up to its name, as the chicken biryani I had there was the best I have ever tasted. I asked for it to be very spicy and it was the PERFECT amount of heat to flavor that I was hoping for. The flavors were rich, fragrant, and balanced. Each dish was a delightful explosion of authentic Indian spices and aromas. The restaurant's skill and pride in the menu were evident in every dish we tried. In addition to the Biryani, we had several naan varieties, Chicken Tikka Masala, and a chicken appetizer that was amazing. The diverse selection of curries, naan, roti, dosa, and many other options left me spoiled for choice. Every dish was prepared with such attention that enhanced the overall taste and authenticity..In conclusion, my visit to Biryani City was an absolute delight. The attentive service, knowledgeable staff, and exceptional food quality have left an indelible impression on me and we will certainly be back, probably within the week! If you're a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking for a great cuisine experience, I highly recommend Biryani City. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

A really nice addition to the neighborhood.I arrived and the restaurant was empty. I was advised they they were setting up for a large party but allowed me to sit despite the large group coming in. It appeared to be private but they graciously allowed me to sit before the party arrived.Service was great, and the food came out very quickly, hot and fresh.I appreciated the array of dip/chutneys and the thin crunchy wafer (not sure what this is called) that they provided complimentary at the start of the meal.I ordered chili garlic naan, as well as palak paneer and paneer tikka masala. All delicious. The tikka masala was not what I am accustomed to, but the flavor was there. It was very buttery and packed the heat as I had requested. These were great portions and I also appreciated the water decanter that was left on the table so I didnt have to ask for water refills. Can't wait to return!

Holy giant portions of biryani Batman! Went here for takeout lunch a couple weeks ago and couldn't believe how heavy the bag was. Food is really solid, staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean. They have a vegetarian buffet dinner on Thursdays. Seems worth a try in the future.

Onion pakora was good but don't love the dipping sauce. The chicken tikka masala sauce was good but not spicy enough. I asked for medium but it had no spiciness to it. The curry was on the sweeter side. The chicken pieces were not seasoned so it tasted like plain chicken. The garlic naan was great! Crispy, buand garlicky!

THE BEST! This is honestly the best Indian food I have ever had and I am so happy I found my new spot. I'm extremely picky with Indian food because it's my favorite, but this place is better than overseas. Everything we ordered was 10/10. I highly recommend it!

We tried take out from this place on a whim on our way back from Jersey and so glad we did! I can honestly say they served the best garlic cheese naan I've ever had from any Indian restaurant! I believe this is a family fun business and when we went to pick up the boys at the counter were very warm and friendly. They even offered us green chilies after I told them my husband loves spicy flavors. We tried a dish that was unique to us called Paneer Lacha which was crumbled and chopped paneer instead of the traditional cubes. This dish HIT. I definitely was to try more dishes from here.

"The Palace of Indian really really impressed me. It's officially my favorite Indian restaurant in South Philly! We arrived on a Tuesday night and the restaurant wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. The restaurant is small but clean and cute. The service was a little slow but the food really made up for it. We started with the mixed parkora. They were made of cauliflower, onion, potato, and spinach. They were perfectly crispy with tasty seasoning over them. For our main dishes, we ordered the butter chicken and the chicken dhaniwal korma. All we could say was WOW. The full bodied flavor, freshness, and quality was unmatched! It was my first time trying chicken dhaniwal korma and it was fantastic! The cilantro really gives the dish a beautiful savory flavor. A few other things I loved about this restaurant is that all of their chicken dishes are made with white meat and they are BYOB. What more can you really ask for?!"
"I have been eating at Aman's for many years now. The food is always delicious and fresh. I prefer to eat vegetarian dishes here.I especially love their Samosa, garlic naan and Vegetable Manchurian...little vegetable balls in a not too spicy, tomato-based sauce. Their mango lassis are the best, as is their chai tea.I have never had a complaint."
"Best Indian food I've found in the area since moving last year- ordered the chicken tika masala with garlic naan (my usual), and I have to say it was WAY better than any of the surrounding competition. Do yourself a favor and order from here- maybe even dine in. Really nicely set up little spot and I'd love to see them continue to do well."
"Getting takeout Indian food can't get anymore adorable than this! I love the giant ice cream cone and am happy to see it have been brought back to life. Ordered some samosas, garlic naan, goat biriyani and palak paneer. It was all very fresh and delightful and ready quickly. Decent portions and a reasonable price. I took a star off for service. The person who took my phone order and the person who handed out the food were not friendly. I would imagine if you were serving Indian food out of a giant cone you would be able to smile just a little."
"Not really sure what all the poor reviews are about because Tiffin was rippin HEAT from their kitchen. We ordered from Uber Eats and everything was on time and ready to down. What we snagged:-Chicken Tikka Masala (Chicken SO tender!)-Masoor Dahl (Best dish of all) -Garlic Nan (SO big and flavorful)Both dishes came with rice and were super flavorful. Will 100% be ordering again and can't wait. This place is the real deal for quick and flavorful Indian food. Will say that many reviews have issues with calling in and ordering. Maybe get with the 21st century and Uber Eats?"
"I don't understand how this place only has 2 reviews! Great food. We always do takeout from here."
"Wow, what a local gem!! I just had takeout from here and the food was fantastic. Probably my new local favorite for Indian food! The chicken tikka masala and lamb rogan josh were so flavorful with the perfect amount of heat (I ordered medium spicy). The lamb was tender and the chicken was moist. The vegetable samosas were packed generously with filling and the garlic naan was soft and fluffy. The portions here are pretty generous as well. I was not expecting for the food to be this good, but I'm so glad I gave it a try. Please give this place a chance, you will be pleasantly surprised!"
"My husband and step son are obsessed with this place! Everything is so fresh and the naans are outstanding!"
"I'm in delight! Been waiting for spicy masala kitchen to open and the time has come; not only that, it's DELICIOUS! We dined in and we're served promptly with genuine smiles. It's a small restaurant, but if you're looking for a casual filling meal, this is an easy place to go to. Everything was very tasteful; plan on grabbing some takeout soon!"
"This spot is a hidden gem. It's a small restaurant in a strip mall and can easily be missed. They serve take out but there is a small dining area if you prefer dining in.There food is excellent and service is very good as well. I highly recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala. My go-tos for apps are the veggie Pakoda and Aloo Padi Chaat."
"It is beyond rare for me to one-star an establishment but in my opinion and for good reasons, I don't feel Mallu Café deserves any more. I was taking a friend who had just traveled to India out to lunch and I suggested an Indian restaurant serving the food from Kerala as a change of pace. That restaurant would be Mallu Café. It is located in a totally non-descript small shopping center in northeast Philly. We walked in to no greeting and when I asked about a table was just given a hand signal to take a seat. The table top in this no-frills eatery could have used a nice wipe down as there were def a couple large grease spots. And the restaurant was really cold so we kept out coats on. We ordered and the food came out quickly - def just heated up or micro-waved. We were given a plastic plate and a plastic fork. When I asked for a knife and a serving spoon, I was told "only forks." I asked what did they have to drink and was told only bottled water. So water it was.Now unfortunately the food was nothing extra - indeed my friend didn't care for it at all. The beef patties were very dry, the Varutharacha chicken curry had more bones than meat, the beef Ulathiyathu had a little too much gristle and where were the peppers and onions? Only the Kappa (yucca) seemed in line with past Keralite meals. We kinda just wanted to leave and I asked for the check, glanced at it, and then just paid ... including a tip. (Why?) At the car my friend said you seemed to have paid a lot for our meals - did you get overcharged? I said, I think I did and got the menu I took along with me. I added everything up (including the bottled water), then factored in tax, and realized we were charged too much for the food we didn't even like and service, heat, amenities which were bare minimum. I remembered seeing my friend's dish cost 12 dollars, yet there was nothing for 12 dollars on the whole menu. My dish I realized after looking at the menu was also charged a couple of dollars more. Now if the prices have changed and the menus we were given to order from are not correct, that's terrible business practice. I hate being overcharged and this seemed deliberate as it was a hand-written bill and occurred with both entrees. Anyway, I said "Let's just forget it. I don't ever want to go back to that place again" ....and I won't!!!"
"I stopped in here on a whim as I was leaving Wegman's and was hungry. It's located in a sparsely attended hotel complex which used to house a Hooter's. Good burger memories. I almost walked out when I stepped in and saw a small smattering of patrons. But I persisted and was very glad that I did. You don't see many Indian places with alcohol, but I decided to tea tote tonight. Ordered some Naan bread and the lamb kebab. I requested that the lamb be cooked medium as too many times I've gotten well done shards when I didn't make the request. The Naan was melt in your mouth. The lamb Kebab was served table side still sizzling fajita style. It was so tender and has a trailing kick to it. The rice provided and grilled vegetables was a perfect pairing. It was too much lamb for me, which is rare. Brought some home to the wife and she loved it except for the spice."
"What a hidden gem! Surprised I haven't been here or heard more about it. I came here for a weekend lunch with a couple of friends. The place was pretty quiet and we were seated right away.Papri Chaat - My friend described these as "Indian Nachos". It was delicious and tasted like chips with sauce, beans, and spices.Garlic Naan - You can never go wrong with ordering theseTandoori Chicken - The chicken was a little dry but liked the pickled onions it came withLamb Rogan Josh & Lamb Korma - Both delicious and flavorful. The meat was nice and tender. We also shared a cheese ball dessert. I found it overly sweet and didn't like the consistency. Overall, the food was delicious and I highly recommend this spot for Indian food!"
"We were super skeptical about this place, the place is huge has a lot of booths and tables, even had a huge party hall. We were seated rather quickly, however it took time for the server to bring us the menus, water was never served. (We were off to a rocky start) but we chose to defer impressions till much later. We ordered chicken samosa, mixed BBQ grill, chicken seekh roll, chicken biryani, medium Achari chicken pizza. Listen to me !!! THE FOOD WAS AWESOME ! The chicken samosas were fresh, flaky and had the perfect amount of filling, the barbecue grill has generous portion of chicken, mutton, lamb chops and everything was delicious, perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. The biryani was full of flavor and had good amount of chicken, but the highlight of the meal was the Achari chicken pizza! We ordered a medium but the medium was huge, it was not only the most gorgeous looking pizza, it tasted so much better. Unlike other fusion pizza's this pizza had the Achari flavor in the base as well. I am so glad we made the trip ! Fun Fact - they used to be called "the second wife" but renamed because no one likes to go to the second wife"
"Food was really good and the servers were really nice. The menu was huge and tons of options. We got the curry chicken biriyani, butter roti, chicken tikka masala."
"Seems like Nanee's Kitchen had a menu/kitchen revamp with how the older reviews and pictures of the food and menu are now outdated with what I just experienced today for lunch. Had a samosa plate/bowl for under $15: potato samosa with yellow rice, chickpea, & spinach for lunch today and it was absolutely delicious! The potato samosa was so soft. Yellow rice never disappoints and with the spinach, they soaked up the spicy chickpea sauce to add a good kick to my taste buds. A delicious spiced meal! Wish I took pictures to do this place justice/evidence that it's changed for the better but my stomach was the priority, not the camera this time."
"Great curries! Get the Chili Garlic Naan bread. We had great service and the server went out of his way to assist. We will definitely be back. Two weeks later, I'm still thinking about that curry."
"I'm in town this weekend visiting my sister, so I Iooked up coming Yelp events in the area to learn more about what's hot! I see there's an event happening here soon. I immediately bookmarked this place. Looked up the menu and told my sister we should check them out. I'm so glad we did.We made reservations, which I would recommend. They get busy, and I can see why. It really has a nice vibe. Multilevel and very cozy. It's somewhat new - just a few months! Congrats! Our server, Avy, was excellent. In fact, everyone here was very welcoming and hospitable! I really appreciated that. We both got one of their mocktails - mango punch. It was good - not too sweet. There is a full bar available! The food was good. We started off with samosas - very flavorful. I enjoyed the green sauce it came with, but I like tamarind sauce with my samosas. These came with ketchup (specifically Heinz according to my sister). For the main dishes, we ordered the smoked chicken tikka medium level spicy, and it had a nice kick. My sister had the korma and she loved it. She'll be back this week for "SIPS.""
"3.5. Namaste is located in a shopping plaza right off of busy Street road in Warminster. The atmosphere was laid back and the service was good.We enjoyed the complimentary crisp cracker with dips served before our meal. Lamb and goat dishes were pretty good. A few pieces of the goat could have been more tender. The lamb curry was very good, not sure I'd get the goat Kalimirch again. The flavor was not as deep and comforting as the curry. The basmati rice was fragrant with spices and cooked well and the garlic naan was so good we got a second order. Would like to try some more of their menu offerings soon."
"Samosas are great; samosa chaat is even better. They 100% understand what "vegan" means, too! They've kept the coffee and ice cream from the previous tenants, and added kulfi."
"I've always said that Philly needs more made-to-order Indian places, and it looks like my prayers have been answered in the past few months! Tandoori of India is located extremely close to my boyfriend's house, which made for an easy weeknight date night. The staff (really just the front of the house guy and the chef) were super nice and helpful, even going as far as having an "Indian" spice level gauge and an "American" one.I'm usually the type to get the tikka masala or butter chicken, but I ventured into tandoori territory and got tandoori chicken, which, while it took forever to cook and come out, was completely worth it and I ate pretty much everything. It was flavorful, and obviously well taken care of. It's nice to eat in, but take-out is pretty accessible and easy too. For the price, the portions are great, and I really hope this place does well enough to stick around for a while!"
"COVID-19 TAKE OUT REVIEWSpice Garden is a take away only Indian kitchen that focuses on Kerala style South Indian cuisine. It didn't have to change much of its operation to adjust to the pandemic. On the end of an old commercial strip near the bottom of Bustleton Avenue just a few blocks before Grant Avenue, it is designed to accept your phone order for pick up 30 - 40 minutes later. That was our plan after grocery shopping at the large Asian supermarket on St. Vincent's Street @ Roosevelt Avenue. We called from the parking lot, arriving about 15 minutes later because of light Memorial Day Weekend traffic. Now, I've had much better curries, masalas and garlic naans than are offered at Spice Garden, but on the other hand there is a trade-off of larger quantities and cheaper prices than available at standard Hindi houses, although the online menu states that recent cost of ingredient increases necessitated higher prices. That's just reality given these harsh times, and we didn't object to absorbing a couple of more bucks. Of course, by the time we reached home the blush was off the rose. Reheating was required to reanimated each dish. We found each was tasty and very well spiced. The two chicken plates led the way, with the Kerala Chicken Curry in a dark thick sauce and the Chicken Pepper Fry bone in and the hottest of the lot. It was a finger food delight. The Channa Masala was lighter cream colored mildly sweet veggie dish that was a good sop for the Garlic Naan. The other diced mixed veggie bowl was a strong counterpoint to the rest of the tongue challenging heat packed into the two plastic take home bags. The only real downside to the experience was the cleanliness of the small anteroom when I waited for the food. There were several insulated containers sitting on the floor, each more schmutzidick than the other. Clearly used for moving cooked food, there was no way they would pass a health department inspection. They left me wondering about the condition of the kitchen on the other side of that swinging door. I'll let you know if I experience any side effects from this meal, which appears to be enough for three dinners."
