Hung Vuong Food Market

With the exception of HMart, this is one of the better Asian markets in the area. The produce, meats, seafood and fish tend to be fresher and the grocery and snack selection is better. The Mayfair location is convenient to those living in north/northeast Philly.

Fair warning: if you never been in an asian market, brace yourself cause it ain't no ACME. Asian markets are known for their "aromatic" uniqueness. This market is the bigger better version of their branch in Chinatown. If you're ever feeling the craving to make/cook your own asian food, this is the place to go. The produce section is huge but is hit-or-miss when it comes to freshness. Same is true with their meat department. They do sell live fish here. They have a huge noodle aisle which I was happy to find and load up. Their snack aisle could be better, but can't complain since I got the shrimp chips I was craving. Their bread aisle... let down. Only thing I would be worried about is how run down this place appears. This place recently open under a year but it seems like it has seen better days already. Parking is plentiful, it's a shared lot between a planet fitness, dollar tree and family dollar. When I was checking out, the cashier requested I used cash, which was okay with me but they do take credit.

I've been wanting to go to an Asian Market for quite some time. Little do people know they are the best places to get meats, seafood, and all kinds of yummy noodles and sauces. I love how ample and clean this location is. Plenty of rows of frozen fish, seafood, wonton wrappers, etc. They also have fresh fish area where the clean, gut and cut your fish. The prices are amazing. I got 2 salmon fish heads fir a little over $2. The produce is fresh with a wide array of Asian, Caribbean, herbs, root vegetables and fruit. They also carry good knives and bowls for soups, soy sauce and saki containers. Parking is ample and staff is very helpful. I'll be back for sure!

I am so happy they opened up here. I was traveling to their Cherry hill store because of the variety and cleanliness. So nice to find that in this branch as well. They carry all the Asian brands and variety I've been unable to get in hmart and they carry more vegetables. I was actually able to get pea leaves my last visit. There is more than adequate parking which is easily accessible. No more trekking to NJ, South Philly or Lawndale or even that crazy congested parking lot on Princeton Ave. So nice to know Mayfair has this gem.
