Hop Sing is a VIBE. It's also a Chinatown gem, especially if you love creative concoctions.Friends brought me along to join them for their cocktail omakase - and yes, two words I never thought I'd see together. Shout-out to our expert bartender - Toby! - for preparing each course for us, and explaining every creation. We had follow-up questions for some of the drinks, and Toby took us down the rabbit hole. I have no idea how long the bar will continue to offer the omakase, but I recommend trying it if you can.Hop Sing has simple house rules:- follow the dress code (no flip flops/sandals, no sneakers, no shorts, no hats)- no photography inside- no phone calls inside (texting is OK)- there might've been one more rule, but the staff will explain them to you when you're thereCan't wait to return. Though for 2-3 drinks... not 5.

Great bar with a really unique atmosphere that is lacking in most Philly bars. Don't be put off by jerks complaining about a couple very simple rules. The cocktails here are good enough that you can go one night without taking pictures and you'll appreciate the atmosphere more!! I also highly recommend the omakase with Toby if you're lucky enough to get a seat!!

I remember the first time my husband brought me to Hop Sing Laundromat. It was during the thick of the pandemic, and he was desperately seeking someplace different to celebrate my birthday. He researched the rules, made sure we were both prepared with cash/documentation/appropriate attire, and we eagerly waited in line on that chilly fall evening We had no idea what we were in for. Fast forward to two years later, and we are still in awe of HSL much like our first experience. I'm curious as to how many times we unknowingly walked past that metal gate, and how many more people will follow suit. HSL is an absolute gem in the heart of the city, and its owner, Le, is no different. Don't let his crassness fool you! I would hate to reveal the great and powerful Oz behind the curtain, but the creative cocktails are just a percentage of why we love HSL so much. Le is an example of what makes Philly such a great city. Don't break the rules, don't be a d*ck, and you'll be welcomed with open arms and dark humor. Think about the next time you're out on a date, do you want to be surrounded by intoxicated people taking obnoxiously filtered selfies and yelling into their phone when human interaction is so desperately needed these days? I for one love the banned list, and if you ever end up on it - maybe take a long look in the mirror. The cocktail menu at Hop Sing Laundromat is meticulously crafted with a perfect balance of flavors, making every sip a roller coaster for the senses. The countless bottles behind the bar are this whiskey drinkers fever dream, and if you're curious - try the HSL FUKU Knob Creek pick! It's like a warm walnut brownie in a glass, and worth the neat pour. Whether you're a cocktail aficionado or simply looking for a memorable night out, Hop Sing Laundromat is the place to be. Five stars are not enough to capture the excellence of this extraordinary establishment and every member of the staff. These inferior imperialist Americans are already looking forward to our next visit. (Addition: As much as I would have loved to take photo after photo of our most recent visit, do us a favor - see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.)

Amazing cocktails, great vibe. Hands down my favorite spot in Philadelphia! Know the rules before you try to get in...but #1 is don't be a jackass!

I love visiting speakeasies and while visiting Philly for the weekend, I came across an article in Conde Nest that's Hop Sing was one of the best. I first tried coming in March. Me and my friend came an hour before closing and was turned away but the owner gave us a recommendation to the karaoke bar around the corner. I came again this weekend, this time solo, well before closing. The experience did not let me down. Drinks were great, service was friendly, and the owner, Le, is charismatic. From the debrief before you enter, to Le remembering everyone's name I can't speak highly enough and can't wait to come back. Don't forget to bring cash!

Would give this place a zero if I could. We last minute decided to join our friends who were already inside. We told the owner at the gate that our friends were actually inside and it would be nice if we could sit with them. He called us liars and said that they didn't say they had any friends when they first came in. I tried to explain to him that our plans changed and if there's no space for a party of four we would just do a table for two. He then went inside and found out that our friends were in there but he still proceeded to call us liars and said he couldn't let us in. All this while vaping is blueberry smoke in our faces. Quite frankly, I don't care how great your drinks are or how nice the vibes are I don't care to be disrespected that way. Really sad that this man thinks he is representative of Philly when this is the worst experience I've ever had in Philly.

Very intimate bar with high quality drinks. The selection of cocktails is vast where anyone can find something they like. Highly recommend the omakase with Toby, the drinks he chose were amazing. It was a wonderful experience throughout. Just make sure to follow the rules. There is a dress code in place fyi.

We got lucky! Our first visit and we got right in. We've been wanting to visit HSL for many years... But either the timing wasn't right to mesh with our other plans; or we didn't have the correct attire to fit within the house rules. The dimly lit and relatively quiet ambiance provided a great getaway from the outside world. The servers were excellent, and cocktails were well balanced.Lê was the best host! He's full of great stories, especially about the things some people have done to get themselves banned. I do think there are some who intentionally try to get banned, so they can wear it as a badge of honor... If that's the case, it's their loss and everyone else's gain. (Hint, leave the attitude and entitlement at home, and you'll be better off; both at HSL, and in life in general) We were there about an hour and a halfIt was the perfect bridge between an early dinner and a late evening event at the Simeone Museum
