Good food on the late night. Nothing too write home about. Typical Chinese American cuisines. We got shrimp and broccoli, shrimp fried rice with chicken wings. Everything was good.

My first takeout meal during the pandemic/COVID-19/Coronavirus crisis of 2020 (or however this surreal period ends up going down in history). Wednesday is stir fry night chez moi, and thid week felt like the right time to take a break from home-cooking to support a local restaurant. First time at Great Taste, and while not perfect I'd say it was pretty decent for Chinese takeout in Philadelphia. My partner got vegetable mei fun, which he described as "better than most." I debated getting Szechuan-style tofu (aka mapo tofu) but decided I really wanted something more vegetable-focused, so I got mixed vegetables with Hunan sauce, and requested tofu as an addition. The tofu was the mistake. So insanely deep-fried and shriveled up that I genuinely wondered if some pieces were actually chicken. The vegetables and the sauce were actually really good though, so maybe next time I'll request that the tofu be steamed, or just not ask for tofu at all. Or...Szechuan-style tofu? Definitely a decent pick for West Philly, either way.

Great Taste.... More like can't swallow. I ordered seasame shrimp and all I could taste is the uncooked batter. I even had doubt if the shrimp was cooked. Overly sweet but tastes like nothing at the same time..... vegetable noodles were greasy. Don't know how they are in business

I've been going to great taste since I was a teenager.. I recently went and got my regular.. shrimp and broccoli in garlic sauce I never had a problem with them at all. When I got my food I ate some rice and instantly tasted something wrong. The rice taste like DIRTY DISH WATER !!! I gather my things together and went back inside and told them about the rice. I asked if I could get a refund and they said no which I didn't understand because they KNEW who I was.. I been coming there for years so it was like WTFF. Long story short I left the food there after waiting 10 mins once they started ignoring me. I won't be going back and now I have to find a new Chinese store that i will like.

This is my go to place when I'm in the mood for chinese. I try not to jump around to various ones cause most of them are a little dingy .The lady that usually takes my order is very friendly an I never wait long if I call ahead which 99% of the time I do . I love there sautéed broccoli an friend rice omg so yummy! The only complaint I have is them charging 50 cent for extra onions ...really xtra onions which are super cheap but other than that I really like this place .

If there's one thing I learned from Great Taste, it's that looks certainly can be deceiving. Bulletproof glass separates the kitchen from the customers. And instead of fixing their old and broken lighted-up menu above the counter, they have several copies of their menus scotch-taped all over the walls, including a handwritten poster board version.Regardless, the staff is very friendly and the food is made as your order it. The lady at the counter remembered both me and Marc and what we usually get (and even knew how we liked substituting their gross eggroll for a pizza roll). Only two words can perfectly describe their pork fried rice: greasy goodness. Most especially after boozin' with some buddies. The best thing about this place: lots of food for not a lot of money. I save the other half of my combo platter for lunch the next day. On a random note: you can pretty much purchase anything you would want at a corner convenience store here. TylenoI PM, cigars, candy and international phone cards, to name a few.We highly recommend this place!-Eddie

One of the best picture-menu, bullet-proof glass encased "chinese" food kitchens in west philadelphia"chinese" like general tsao's chicken not shanghai juicy buns. Still, not too bad. Inexpensive and competitive with classier looking chinese restaurants. They also sell strawberry dutchmasters and are willing to breakdown a pack of cigarettes into singles upon request.Hot tip: call ahead and avoid experiencing sadness while watching people buy single cigarettes
