"I ordered from Lee's Deli because I know they have carrot cake made by the mythical "carrot cake man". The carrot cake man has been selling his carrot cakes on public transportation for many years. I didn't just order the carrot cake. I ordered a sampling of desserts along with an Italian hoagie. It is a deli after all. The Italian hoagie was a good hoagie, but nothing memorable. It will not be my go-to spot for an Italian. It seems none of the desserts are made in house, but they definitely know where to get them from The carrot cake was the same cake I remembered from years back. Very moist with the best cream cheese icing I've ever tasted. The red velvet and pound cake were also outstanding cakes. Right up there with the best Amish cakes. The sweet potato pie was just OK. I wouldn't get that again. I had 3 outstanding desserts, so no complaints there. But the deli part doesn't seem to be up to that very high bar."
"The custard is the best! Quick service and plenty of parking. They have Philadelphia Water Ice which you can combine with custard for a gelati. Generous portions - the small was huge!"

I live close enough to as many greasy burger and fry places, this is not one of them. I'm not sure of the origin but they have been here for a while. The staff are very quick and friendly. I placed my order online to get in and out faster than having to wait behind a bunch of hockey kids and their entire families. The value is worth it. This is a surprisingly good burger place."
"I always enjoy my time here. I usually meet friends and we get to catch up over brunch. True diner atmosphere which I love. I typically get their omelettes and this time the veggie one was delicious, as always. The waitresses are friendly and always make us feel welcome and never rushed. I love the decor - very Philly - I know I'm home when I'm at a diner like this. Check them out!"
"Came here for soft serve ice cream. Paid almost $8 for a large vanilla soft serve in a cup with rainbow sprinkles. The serving size was pathetic. Barely any sprinkles. Why did I spend an extra dollar for less than a tablespoon of sprinkles? My husband ordered a small vanilla soft serve and he got just as much ice cream as I did. I don't think these kids know how to measure ice cream servings. Way overpriced. I might come back to try the burgers and fries, though that seems a bit overpriced too. We'll see."
"APJ Texas Wieners is a little hole in the wall that I'm guessing has been around a really long time at its north of Market Street location. It's the kind of place when you sit at the counter, you will observe regulars coming in and out. Most customers are recognized by the couple running the café who know what their customers are eating and drinking before they even order. It seems people from all walks of life patronize here. Well on the food front, the hot dog or eponymous Texas Wiener was actually pretty good. The fish cake though was only okay...not as 'fishy' as I like. Everything appeared to be kept very clean. And best of all, a lunch or snack here will be kind on your wallet. The prices are def on the totally inexpensive side. I guess these are the reasons why this 'hole in the wall' survives despite being so close to the crowded Reading Market.Note - I don't think I've ever included a spelling lesson in a review before so here's a first. The correct spelling of the main food here is Wiener (not Weiner). Wiener indicates that something has its roots in Vienna which the hot dog has. Weiner indicated that something has its roots in wine which the hot dog really doesn't derive from although I have eaten wieners with wine in my life. Americans have constantly mixed up the spellings Wiener and Weiner for generations so you will see both used - but with my Viennese connection, I def have to use 'Wiener'!!"
"Strange stepping foot in here. Growing up in Newtown Square this was my goto McDonald's for 30 years. I had my first chicken McNugget at this location. When it shut down, this lot was vacant for years and we waited and waited for something to open here. I'm happy and sad that it is a Nifty Fifty's. Happy because of how good the burgers are and how convenient it is. And sad for the same reasons. I'm gonna be fat. They opened this week and the crowds have been crazy. Many people have been waiting for this opening and many of them have been showing up! I went at 830 and it was packed, they said it was still the dinner rush. It started to thin out around 9, but there was still a steady flow of people headed in. I picked up 2 burgers, fries, and a shake. Took about 20 minutes to get it, but I was expecting a wait given how crowded it was. The service was great, especially with the crowd. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful. Lexi and Keira were working the to go orders and had smiles for everyone. Big plus when it's so busy and people are hungry and waiting, a friendly face goes a long way. The ambience is very cool. Black and white checkers, loads of neon, and paper hats. Definitely a throwback to the Fifties. They have plenty of seating inside, including a small bar area, and a few tables outside which is where I ate my to go order. My food did not disappoint. The burgers were great, small, but bigger than a slider. I'm thinking they may use Velveeta. I didn't ask if they have other cheese options but was happy with the standard. I'd have gotten a third burger if it wasn't 9:00. The fries seem like fresh cut and were good but needed some salt IMO. The shake...chocolate. At first it had an off taste to me but it grew on me as I drank it. They are served in odd metallic looking cups, but they work well at keeping the shake cool. All in all it was a fantastic experience despite the crowd and well worth the wait. Looking forward to going back when it is less crowded. It that may be a while! Welcome to the Square, we are happy to have you!"
"Ordered online for pickup. Luckily was able to find parking. Ordered a lunch special - cheesesteak wrap that came with fries and a soda. Very good."
"Honestly speaking, on the path less travelled, Jim's West Steaks is a great find. I had recently read that Jim's West was an experiencing a rebirth under new leadership so off I went. This cheesesteak was L-O-A-D-E-D! After placing my order the chef got started on my order and seeing how much steak she loaded onto the grill, it was definitely impressive. She just grabbed a handful of steak over her head to the grill and started cooking asap. I asked for two steaks, one with provolone, mushrooms, and onions, the other with wiz, both came filled to the brim with steak. Definitely go for a generous sprinkle of salt and pepper at the end for better flavor, and surprisingly, for me anyway, I was asked distinctly if I wanted mayo, so I said why not. A dash of ketchup was the final addon to this Philly treat. The final verdict, tender chopped juicy steak, no gristle, not too cheesy (which I prefer), nicely cooked and not overdone. I definitely rank this is as a Philly best. For about $12-$14 a steak this was not just tasty but economical as well. Now, this was a bit off the beaten path for sure and the neighborhood, well, get your steak and go. There isn't much eat in space anyway. The good news is that a great cheesesteak will stay a great cheesesteak for a while."
""Wait, which is the pizzeria everyone loves? Lorenzo's in the Italian Market or Lorenzo & Sons on South Street?""I think it's the one on South.""Oh yeah....Hold on, I'm thinking of Lazaro's on South Street. I'm confused."And so we set out to try them all on a pizza crawl. We shared a cheese slice at each stop in order to pace ourselves. Lorenzo's was our last stop. I don't think I'd ever had their pizza before. After the gargantuan slices oozing with cheese at the other two places, Lorenzo's slice was aesthetically the least impressive. The slice was a reasonable portion--I can't call it small--and was just $2.50. (An XL 18" pie is only $14.)But what it lacked in looks this slice made up for in flavor. We both liked it best of the three. The sauce was the secret weapon. I found something comforting and familiar about it. It wasn't sweet and had more tomato flavor. You could also see the herbs and spices on the slice, which improved the flavor. The crust was a bit thicker than the others but was crispy and good."
"Delicious fried chicken! I recently went here to get the tikku chicken to go. The ambiance is plain but plenty of seating. Given the spiciness of the wings, I wish the store had pitchers of water available for customers if needed. I got my chicken within the promised 15 minutes and absolutely loved it. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, sweet, and spicy-make sure to have plenty of napkins! Although a bit pricy at over $18 after tax, I got a good portion. CM Chicken also has the added advantage of being by Drexel's campus and a four-block walk to 30th St. Station (and the best-looking restaurant nearby if you need food)."
"Johnny's Hots are known for their hot sausages. You can get a variety of hot sausage sandwiches. On one of my morning walks to Penn Treaty Park I decided to stop by and see for myself if the sausages lived up to the hype. I ordered a Sausage, egg & cheese. It comes on like a hoagie roll. I also saw a tasty looking apple danish and grabbed that too. I sat in the park to eat my meal. I am happy to report that the sausage lived up to the hype. It is just the right amount of hot, not overpowering. And It's very juicy. The sandwich was made with the perfect ratio of sausage to egg to cheese. I devoured it! It was soo good! The roll was slightly chewy, which makes me think it wasn't the freshest. The apple danish was a tasty treat I'm glad that I ordered to end my meal with. The big negative to Johnny's Hots is that it's a cash only business. That's ridiculous in 2022. You lose far more business than you save in fees when u don't accept credit cards. I rarely carry cash, so I can rarely stop here for those mouth watering sausages. Such a shame."

bulgogi cheese steak + carrot cake muffin are great!Add pickles for sure!!!===========Just got delivery from DoorDash and I'm very satisfiedBulgogi cheese steakI was worried this would be super sweet, but it actually wasn't. I added pickles to this and it was great with the meat. There's pieces of broccoli in this too so it's kinda not terrible for you. The cheese and the beef aren't overwhelming one another.Carrot cakeTexture is a little dense more like a muffin, but this was not too sweet and cream cheese frosting had enough tang in it. Yum.As I was eating, some grease or sauce went all over my fingers. Def a messy meal.Tasty if you want a bit of a twist to your cheese steak.

Pretty yummy! Seems like a local hotspot which I like (all about supporting local businesses). The woman who served me both visits was super sweet. On my second visit, I got sprinkles (+75¢) on my gelati (bc I'm excessive) and she gave me a little bowl of extra sprinkles because they kept falling off... I didn't even ask! :) thank you!

This is in kind of a weird location, but it's worth a stop in. At the very least you can people-watch since there's a big window overlooking the Skatium ice rink they're attached to. Their burgers are very affordable, and they have a wide variety including 'stuffed-burgers' to choose from. Their fries are also pretty good, crispy and fresh. Wasn't impressed by their onions rings but that's okay. If you're feeling burgers but don't want to go to a chain then this is a good option.

The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because of the Lack of communication at the front counter. We walked in to meet a friend and was told to wait 5-10 minutes, yet.... Our favorite server had tons of open booths and seats. She called us over, but then the manager kept telling us to wait. However, we didn't wanna sit in the crowded section which was towards the left it just didn't make any sense. However, the food is consistent at the Mayfair diner, and the one waitress is super awesome. I think her name is Lisa she is really fantastic. She gives you her honest opinion about the food she's been there a really long time and I'd rather someone tell me, what to expect from the soup of the day or from a certain dish that way in my opinion, I can make the better decision where to spend my money if I'm in the mood for a turkey club or a bowl of soup at least I know that I can appreciate when someone says it might be salty or bland, but this is not the case at the Mayfair Diner, their food is consistent I'd prefer breakfast. I am a breakfast kind of gal and I enjoy breakfast any time of day, but this diner is also close by a lot of our friends and a few of our family members so it's easy on everyone to meet at the Mayfair Diner plus this place has been here forever that says some thing as well. I know the chicken Parm is delicious and a few friends have gotten the dinner size to take half home and they still were full. I like the turkey, rice, soup and I am a big fan of their omelettes and their pancakes. My mom usually gets the chicken fingers or the quesadillas and they're very consistent and delicious is definitely worth the money. I know their hours are not open as long these days but, it's a pretty decent place to go. I feel like the service at many other places has gone downhill and this place at least I can speak for the server name. Lisa is pretty wonderful from my house to the front door. It's about 40 minutes so if I'm wasting gas to drive that long to get something to eat, you know it's gonna be pretty good.

We got the Mango Gelati, it's the best we had so far. Unlike Rita's, Richman's was less sweet, which both my husband and I liked about it! The soft serve was creamy and soft, everything is well combined!

This is hands down one of the best places to get diner food in the city. The hot dogs are great and I usually get one with ketchup/mustard/onions and a chilidog with onions. I guess when the name of the store is called Texas Wieners, it must be good. The food is cheap and the service is pretty fast. Aside from the hotdogs, one of my favs is the turkey club. The turkey club they sell here uses real turkey and not that processed oscar meyer pre-sliced junk that some other places sell. Another thing that's a must try is the "Toasted Corn Muffin" it is to die for. Make sure its Toasted! and you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for comfort food, Fiore's Steaks and Shakes is a good place with a variety of food options. It's a walkable go-to spot if I'm in the mood for takeout in the neighborhood.I've tried their shrimp in a basket that comes with fries, macaroni salad, and garden salad. Also had their chicken nuggets with fries, and both meals tasted good.Either I've ordered at the window or use a delivery app and select pick-up. Their website is okay to order from too.
Visit Restaurant Page"We decided to come back, because we've been extremely busy for the past few days and we were in the mood for something easy after spending the entire day doing holiday things. The last time we were here, the order was messed up and the owner said he would give us a free pizza for it, but we'll probably never take them up on that. The owner reaching out to us was the reason we tried them again and this time we ordered a cheese steak stromboli. It was a solid stromboli and the order was 100% correct."
"This is spot is located in the Deco Food Hall. I've only tried it once. I tried "the problem" on the advice of a coworker. It's pretty large so good for sharing with someone or saving for leftovers. The taste was pretty good but think the kale on top could have either been chopped up more or possibly grilled/steamed. The rest of the ingredients are cooked. Overall pretty good, and I'm glad when I can find unique veggie options. They also have a chickpea tuna sandwich that I need to try soon!"
"Amazing spot, tons of great options. This is so needed for my family who all wants something different. Our go to spot."
"Words cannot explain how much I'd loved the food here and the ambiance and the service. Just everything! Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and some well-deserved promotions at work and we couldn't have chosen a better place on a lovely Saturday brunch-filled morning. .We arrived and we're escorted to the second floor which opened up to a cozy but at the same time tall ceiling Place filled with art and random exotic plants and happy customers eating delicious food. We ordered a few appetizers which were pretty delicious, but the star of the show for me was their spend on a Nashville hot open face chicken sandwich. It was by far the most delicious chicken sandwich I'd eaten in years. The combination of a thick breaded and buttery crust holding very moist chicken was just incredible. I honestly can't even remember what my side dish was or would it taste like even with pictures because that's how focused I was on the chicken sandwich lol My drink was pretty good but I really enjoyed my wife's drink the most because it had hints of elderflower and some really bitter liquor. That was a great balance. I had their take on carrot cake for dessert which was okay.. It wasn't terrible at all, but I wish the portions were a little bigger. Overall, I cannot wait to spend another Saturday or Sunday brunch at the Love."
"Haven Local sits within the Creek Side Market building next to Creek Side Restaurant & Deli. It appears to be Indian owned/operated by a friendly chef who was only to happy to make me any breakfast I wanted within his inventory of supplies. That turned out to be something like a sausage egg & cheese sandwich on a oversized brioche roll. It was fantastic, but so overloaded that he soon brought me a plate, real flatware and an extra roll to reconstruct the sammy if necessary (I brought it home). The knife and fork simplified the eating and kept my hands free of the original dripping mess that I tried to pick up and covered my fingers in runny egg and delicious sauce , but made this creation so distinctive. It was an excellent mess! Coffee was secured next door at the Creek Side Restaurant & Deli, which shared the large market building. Obviously, these smaller retailers rent from the market and brewery that round out the tenants. The scattered tables made for a very casual atmosphere, and invited people to hang out and enjoy themselves. I certainly did. Haven Local went out of its way to accommodate my short stay, and I appreciated the effort. Elkins Park has a very interesting commercial zone right here and I hope they are able to maintain and expand it."
"Vegan vegan vegan. With only one review on here using the word, it's time to draw attention. There are vegan options here. The veggie burger, vegetable wrap, and red pepper hummus with pita are all vegan. Yay!If you're into meat, you've got loads of options. Food spans a cross between gastro pub and dive bar (read: soups, chili, wings, steak tip sandwiches; quesadilla, nachos, and a variety of sandwiches.) Prices are reasonable and sandwiches come with fries or salad. The beer list is pretty long for a neighborhood watering hole. I snagged a pint of a great black lager, and also tried the Fiddlehead white which was nice too. There were about eight brews on draft and double that number in cans and bottles, plus ciders. Sitting under a tree trapped up in fairy lights on the outdoor patio was quite nice. Indoors is dark wood and a long bar and TV screens. Good place for sports fans or biergarten lunchers. Friendly service too. G'ahead, give it a try."
"No nonsense cash only breakfast joint with tasty sandwiches.I ordered the ham egg and cheese topped with hash browns on a long roll. I think its called the Farm Hand. The bread was soft and chewy. It did its job of highlighting the sandwich contents well.Inside lay a generous helping of fresh fried eggs, crispy hash browns, thick slices of country ham, and salty American cheese. This was a massive and delicious sandwich with lots of salt, fat, and flavor. Great for a Saturday breakfast."
"I ordered the fajita pizza and I appreciated the size and amount of the toppings they put. The crust was nice and crispy. Some of the other pizzas looked good too."
"Wishbone has some of the best crispy fried chicken. But I go for the salads!! Fantastic food all around and a huge selection of premium drinks. And most importantly, it is always served with a smile!!"
"Have eaten here twice now and the burgers are outstanding. Not a negative thing to say about this yummy sandwich."
"Worth the hype.I went to Asad's Hot Chicken on a Sunday afternoon and waited 10 minutes to order. The line was 7 people in front of me and stayed around 5-10 people the whole time I was there. After ordering, the food took another half hour. They give you a ticket number and have a digital ticker on the building that shows the current order number. They brought out 2 or 3 orders at a time, about every 10 minutes or so. I ordered the #4 since I wanted to try both the slider and the chicken tender. There's 5 heat levels, ranging from no spice to reaper. I went for "hot" which is the level in the middle. It was a good level of spice, the kind that makes your nose water a little but doesn't overwhelm the food. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly: juicy and tender meat with a crispy breaded outside. It also came with a good amount of seasoned fries and their "secret sauce" (similar to spicy mayo). The #4 came with one tender, one slider, and fries for $11.99. It might not seem like a lot of food but the tender was huge and the slider was more like a burger size. If I hadn't been starving it would've been enough for 2 meals. There's no place to sit and eat since Asad's is located in the parking lot of a gas station, but that wasn't a problem since I drove and ate in my car."
"I just got take out but when I walked in it definitely felt like a fun bar where everyone talks to each other. I made the blackened chicken salad a wrap and it was really good! It was smaller than I expected but it was a great size for me. It was also WAY healthier than expected which was also great."
"I can't recommend this place enough! For a full review check my IG @dr.afia_abroad. My video on this restaurant went viral recently. Uptown needs more good food options, so I'm so happy it's here. I tried many menu options and loved them all. Favorites are the chicken Ceasar salad sandwich (sounds weird but trust me, it's amazing), salmon teriyaki bowl, pizza fries and garlic buffalo wings. Oh and anything with BBQ sauce. The owner here is the son of Dwight's BBQ in Erie (IYKYK)"
"We decided to take stroll in Chinatown and find something to eat. We had no luck either restaurants didn't look appetizing or they didn't let us order when we walked in. We ended up ordering Cavanaugh's Rittenhouse via Uber Eats. We ordered BBQ Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, and a Chicken Quesadilla. The wings were ok. I wish they were fried hard and then tossed in bbq sauce. The mozzarella sticks were oddly huge and there was way too much cheese. Plus the itty bitty marinara sauce they gave us was laughable . I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken quesadilla. It was awesome. The sautéed chicken, caramelized onions, and three cheese blend sent my palate to places I'd never think bar food could. The quesadilla was massive and stuffed to the brim. For bar food this place is expensive."
"I was working at a conference right across from Reading Market and when I saw Frank's had pierogis, I knew I had to try them!!Pierogis are one of my favorite foods since my family would make them every Christmas growing up. While I'd never expect a place to have them as good as our family's homemade recipe, I really enjoyed the pierogis here! They have an eclectic variety of food like wings, Mac n cheese, cornbreads with different fruits, and more. I got the pierogis that were 4 for $6, along with q side of sour cream. They tasted really good and I enjoyed them for lunch. All their food looked tasty, and I was very happy with my lunch here!"
"A place that makes you feel welcome. Everyone from the time I entered until my departure was very pleasant and professional. The vibe in the dining area is an eclectic mish mosh of Afrocentric neo soul collection. In my head played Marvin Gaye's What's going on, Public Enemy Fight the Power, anything by Nina Simone, bringing it into a smooth groove On & On by Erykah Badu, Far Away Kindred the Family Soul with Jilly from Philly (Queen Jill Scott) simply bringing down the house. Yes that went on internally while I waited in line!My order was simply delicious, man I never knew vegetarian could be so easy. We had the Veggie Sausage Stir Fry with Peppers and Quinoa. Gave some to momma, she smacked herself! Yep that good. There was this delicious slaw with my order. So people make your way to Atiya Ola's Spirit First Foods, leave your ketchup and hot sauce home it ain't needed here Atiya Ola is serving it up like Serena!"
"This place is pretty good! I need to try their wings. I've had a cheesesteak platter previously and it was very good and fresh. This time around I got a homemade iced lemonade with a garden salad with cheesesteak rolls and they hit the spot"
"Just had one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. Not Just Pizza ain't no lie! I will be back!"
"I first tried their Taiwanese chicken slider/bun at the Yelp Event at the Bourse and immediately loved it. I came two days later by myself for a late lunch and fell IN love with it.I wanted to opt for something different, but I just HAD to get another taste of that chicken. I ordered two sets of the chicken buns for me and my BF (you get 2 small sliders per order and I think it's enough for one person) and a side of garlic (or truffle?) parmesan fries and it came to $24, so kind of pricy, but WELL worth it.First of all, I had it piping hot at the Yelp Event and then the second time got it to go and didn't consume it until a half hour later and BOTH times it was fantastic at both temperatures. The fries were also DOPE (and I'm usually not big on those types of fries). The sandwich is sweet, salty, crunchy, delectable chicken with a beautiful aioli and housemade pickle on a wonderful buttery bun. When I stopped in the second time, the staff was SO friendly. I sat at the bar for a bit and they offered me some wine and a sampling of their really great slow-cooked pulled pork simmering in juices.I was mad I didn't try the steak sliders, but I'll 100% be back here soon!"
"Only reviewing the slice of pepperoni i bought. Had to wait a good 20 minutes for a new pie to be baked, but no biggie. The slice cost around $3.50 and had a solid good taste, but was way smaller than I expected. The price point for a slice isn't bad, and strangely its getting harder and harder to find places that serve slices as some spots aren't serving them anymore. I would go back and try a full pizza, but I'll pass on the slices."
"I've come to Bubby's for many years for breakfast and lunch until my job moved to another section of the City. Now I so miss everything Bubby. I happened to be in the area for a meeting and said I just had to stop and get one of my favorites from Bubby's - the chicken cutlet hoagie. You watch the plentiful cutlets being breaded on the spot before being fried and placed in the hoagie roll with any trimmings and cheese you may want. They also do awesome Philly cheesesteaks, hot sausages, hot dogs, and you name the breakfast sandwich and he can probably make it. They also have the sides like fries or onion rings. Or maybe oatmeal or grits. The homemade lemonade is the bomb. Bubby's is so much better than any Wawa. The place is super small and there's no tables...just enough room for about six to wait standing inside the sliding glass door if it's cold and windy or rainy. You have to be patient as lines sometimes get long, but moves quickly. Prices are very reasonable.CASH ONLY! Boy, do I miss Bubby's. I wish he opened up near me! That homemade chicken cutlet hoagie was superb. Yum!"
"The food here is pretty similar to NY gyro in Philly pike. The prices are fair and the portions are generous The little mixed vegetables always makes me feel less guilty about eating greasy meats piled onto a bed of greasy riceToday was my first time getting the fried fish, pretty good. I will add that to my regular rotation nowThey food is made fresh but is done so quickly. The salads are precut so you can point to what you wantThe guys at the grill are nice and friendlyI'm glad we have a lamb over rice place in the burbs now, I'm never driving to Philly pike again"
"Went here my partner. I'm not a bar person, but we were told their food was really good. So we ordered a Burger and fries. One of the best decisions I've made in my life! Their burgers are one of the best I've ever had! And their fries are delicious too! Whenever I'm around, I stop here... Just writing this out is making my mouth water."
