"I'll say it: living in close proximity to The Bakeshop and trying to live a healthy lifestyle is hell. What's a girl to do when one of Yelp's top chocolate chip cookies in the COUNTRY is steps away, calling my name after any minor inconvenience I encounter? I am a mere cookie-loving mortal!Everything is so good here you're not gonna go wrong. There's probably going to be a line whenever you go (and there is a 100% chance of a line on weekend mornings) but don't let that deter you! It moves very quickly and you can even order online for pickup if you're looking for added ease. I tried their BEC for the first time, ordering it ahead and enjoying it on a park bench in the square, a course of action I highly recommend. The staff here is as sweet as the baked goods and truly nothing I've tried has missed. The classic chocolate chip is the star of the show but my underrated favorite is the gorgeous lemon ricotta cookie. Next on the must try list? Breakfast items like sticky buns and their lunchtime sandwiches. Thank you for existing, Bakeshop on 20th!"
"Where to begin?? Even though they were extremely busy, the line moved very quickly. The people working there are very friendly and efficient. They have a big selection to choose from. I decided on the sandwich the firebird. The young lady said it was a new option there. It is made with pork roll, egg and cheese, chipotle mayo and hot sauce. They have many bread or bagels to decide from. You can never go wrong with the everything bagel. I got a few pastry for later on that day. The muffins and Danish are too good to decide which one is better."

Visit Restaurant Page"They have more varieties of buns and dessert after they renovated the store. It looks cleaner and organized. Now they have donuts, blueberries cream cheese bun ( it's so good), tiramisu.Coconut pineapple bread is so soft like a pillow. You can pull apart per section. It has sugary pineapple topping. Price is still reasonable, on average it's below $3"
"5 starts just for passing the 100-year mark! They must be found something right for that kind of longevity. They bake their bread fresh on site daily. Come here for rye (seeded or not), pumpernickel, challah, or old-fashioned white bread. They also have cookies, Danish, tea biscuits, knishes, coffee cake, and even a few slices of tomato pie.Staff are friendly. Cash is preferred."
"Got a last minute birthday cheesecake from here. Strawberries on top. It was delivered within a half hour and was pretty good. It wasn't creamy. It seemed more of a mass produced cheesecake type if that makes sense. Think of it as a building material. The best cheesecakes I've had DIDN'T look like a block of sanded wood. A perfectly formed pressure treated board. No, no. They look like OSB planks and when you cut it, it's not clean by any means. This isn't a place I'd get my wife a birthday cake but it's great for a coworker. Cake was less than $15 and we split it 6 ways. So there is some bang for your buck here.Update: I'm changing it to 4 stars I got another last minute birthday cake. Chocolate with "Happy Birthday" written on it. It was delicious. This place really comes through with a quick cake. If you're forgetful and lazy it's perfect for you! I'm both."
"I was in town visiting and my friends and I did a day trip to Philly. After have a great lunch I needed to find a place perfect for desserts. I came across The Sweet Life Bakeshop. They certainly lived up to their hype via other reviews. The chocolate cake used for the cupcake was fantastic. I prefer a little more icing than what I had. But, that's preference. My favorite item was the banana pudding! It had the perfect texture! I understand all the rave about it. Service was wonderful and delivered with a smile!"
"tl;dr the iconic babka is more than just hype -- a whole loaf is the surest way to become the most popular person at your next partySouth Philadelphia is no stranger to fabulous bakeries, and Essen Bakery on East Passyunk is no exception. Similarly, Chef and Owner Tova du Plessis is no stranger to fabulous baking -- she was recognized as a James Beard Foundation semi-finalist back in 2020, and, more recently, she won Beat Bobby Flay on the merit of her Jewish apple cake. But the real draw at Essen is Plessis' iconic Chocolate Halva Babka. Her intimate Jewish bakery no longer offers indoor service, you can still order takeout from the commercial-grade window built into the white-brick building. Wooden patio furniture is arranged outside if you're intent on digging in ASAP.My partner and I arrived for weekend lunch, and a queue trailed down the block. The trim menu is geared toward being prepared quickly, so the staff steadily churned through the line. Unsurprisingly, we loved our slice of babka -- despite the dense, chewy texture, it pulled apart with ease, and each fold was generously laced with rich dark chocolate. We also enjoyed the Za'atar Crossaint, served cold and layered with tangy labneh and a sliced hard-boiled egg. The croissant itself had a flaky exterior but a flat, somewhat dense interior. While I enjoyed the strong flavor profile, my partner commented that the combination was about as simplistic as a DIY avocado toast. Our bill worked out to just over $10, and we agreed that splitting the small items left us both hungry. Nonetheless, the stellar babka is reason enough to visit Essen. If I had the time and/or appetite, I would strongly consider investing in a whole loaf just for myself."
"This place has great hippie vibes. We started with dirty chai that was light on the sweetness which is actually how I like it. Service was friendly and brought out our crepe shortly after. We got the apple cheddar crepe and they were happy to add spinach for us. Delicious! Seems like this place can get pretty busy on a nice Saturday but they have indoor and outdoor seating and they're quick!"
"Had a strawberry croissant and iced coffee. Loved both! Would definitely come back and try more."
"Nice coffee shop with excellent coffee. I wish they had more offerings. Almost no cookies or anything else. I was a bit disappointed I wanted something besides my ice coffee. The cold brew was as good as it gets but it was almost $4 for a pretty small cup. The service was very good and the space is very pretty."
"I stopped here for a quick coffee and bite to eat in the morning before heading into work. I just ordered the house coffee and a breakfast sandwich on a muffin with cheese, bacon, egg, and spinach. The sandwich and coffee were good. If I were a picky coffee person I bet I would have loved this place, but I'm not. This is more of a 3.5 star for me and provides a minimalist approach. Eg there is a small bench inside, no real tables just end tables, and a few chairs stacked up in the corner. Not a ton either on the hot food menu but the pasteries looked very good. Service was quick and friendly with some locals who are regulors here. Would recommend this place for a quick stop to pick up and take in on your way to work."
"Came here for a Phill pretzel since this was the closest place to Lincoln Financial field. My wife wanted a cinnamon pretzel but they didn't have any so we ordered 5 pretzels for $3. You really can't beat that. But pretzels were good with just the right amount of salt. I'll probably try some other pretzel places on my next trip back. I really hope not all pretzels are like this though."

I love this place. The display case is always tantalizing, with an array of cakes, scones, cookies, and various other sweet delights that will get your morning off to the perfect start. There are also savory hot items, though these can take a bit longer to be prepared. FYI, a Philly muffin is basically an English muffin.Seating is very limited but take your coffee and pastry and go for a walk in the park! You deserve it.

Interesting local bread and pasty place located in Reading Terminal Market. I highly suggest them for a breakfast sandwich. I got the OMG BLT and it was OMG big. I picked the brioche bun which was hella fresh bread. I really like the use of pesto and mozzarella in the sandwich (added a sort of twist). The sandwich was a decent size and the service was very quick. The only problem with it being in Reading Terminal is spots to eat at fill quickly especially with multiple people.

Went a few minutes before closing so they were out of most things. Coconut bun was really good, but as it was closing time, it was a little cold for my liking. Would taste really good fresh and warm. I guess it would be best to visit them in the morning hours. Highly recommend the Panda sponge cake sandwich - so soft and airy!! Like the coconut bun, it was not overfilled, had a mellow flavor and was only mildly sweet. The Hong Kong style milk tea was okay.

Great crusty pumpernickel and even better seeded rye bread for $4 a loaf, slicing optional, highly recommend! Also bakes seedless rye and marble rye. Opens early 7 days a week like a good bakery should.Claims to be Philadelphia's oldest Jewish bakery. As others have noted, this is a very small sales room attached to an enormous commercial operation.I tried a Kaplan's cheese danish also, perfectly fine but not up to the standard set by that delicious bread. Next time I'll try the cookies.

I am unsure of the pudding sizes but each cup felt fulfilling. I also had to pay 3.99+ and not the 15 stated in one of the reviews for TooGoodToGo. Some more variety would've been nice but it seems their banana pudding is the bomb for most people and I am no exception to that. Staff is friendly and pick up was quick .I only saw one person working here. So maybe she owns the place. I haven't been able to try their cupcakes but it seems mixed reviews. The day I went was all pudding choices and I didn't see any cupcakes. Presentation of environment is pleasant and aesthetically pleasing. The name of the shop makes me think of Frank Ocean's Sweet Life.

I went on a Sunday morning for the first time. I walked in and scanned the menu and pastry cabinet, and decided on an iced coffee and everything bagel with lox to go. It was very quick. I didn't have time to sit and enjoy but there were a few seats inside to do so. I enjoyed my iced coffee and bagel and would stop by again if I was in the area maybe to try a pastry.

They have very delicious pastries, cakes and crepes and coffee and a convenient app to make payment quick and easy. My only criticism was a long wait for my crepe ( but it was a busy Sunday). Also the server presented me with my spinach, onion and cheese crepe saying I added extra cheese. I didn't ask for extra cheese and would have preferred less. Please don't assume, thanks
Visit Restaurant Page"This is absolutely one of the best breakfast spots around! The staff is nice enough and they have outdoor dining on those nice days you feel like some fresh air with your food. Their fresh squeezed orange juice is a favorite of mine. They have a lot of healthy options and the pricing is reasonable. I love coming here."
"Everything homemade and delicious. I got the cotton candy, and it was amazing. Their space is pretty small. With two indoor seating tables that probably fit a total of 6 people. They also have a bench outside in front of the shop if you want to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Great local ice cream shop with some fun flavors!"
"A GEM for pastries from a French baker!!!! Perfect crusts and delicious coffees!!!! LOVE this cute little small business!!"
"I love Baker Street Bread! Their breakfast sandwiches are served on soft brioche buns. Coffee and coffee drinks are really good. They are fast and friendly!"
"We dropped by 260 Bridge Cafe this weekend and it's a nice bakery and coffee shop. They have a good selection of bakery items and coffee drinks. The store is clean and bright, so we got carried away a little and bought 10+ bakery items. The ones we tried are all pretty nice. Now some not-good parts, when we got in there is already a long line and it was moving pretty slowly. The ordering process is not efficient, as you can see from the photo, the food display is on one side but you need to order on the other side. So if you are ordering a lot of items, it's hard to remember all. And someone else will be bagging your item, which can introduce the wrong items. The price is also a little on the expensive side...."
"Kay Kay's has the Most friendly and helpful lady who is singlehandedly working the entire front of the store. She even upbeat during closing. As always any preordered items are ready at the requested or agree to time. This bakery says everything in the cleanliness of the entire store and the goods they produce. If you have a moment you can watch the magic happen in the 'bakery' behind the glass. I watched what appeared to be a 'wedding cake' being built, it was awesome to see. The interior decor is modern and well thought out, the outside is well kept and inviting. Every item I've purchased from Kay Kay's has been a work of art either in look, taste or both. The sticky buns and donuts are SPECIAL! They will make you pass any chain donut shop. I will go the extra mile as it's truly worth it!"
"Order online and just go and pick it up. I order ahead, double park and run inside and get my order. I love the empanadas and coffee. Great breakfast!!!"
"Location was bit random but then inside was spacious and alot of people were in tables surprisingly Well decorated, although breads was not appealing to me compared to Paris baguette, still decent choices We ordered only drinks caramel macchiato and honey lavender macchiato My friend liked caramel macchiato initially but then because of too much milk, it tasted more like milk than coffeeHoney lavender also good but no enough caffeine for me to stay awake We were both full so did not get dessert but i would go back to try pieces of cake Whole cake was $40 in average"
"Good amount of options for desserts of various options, including meat options. Pretty easy to buy things in bulk. Right in the midst of Chinatown so easy to pop in after getting lunch to grab some goodies to take home."
"Note: (1) Cash only (2) it's harder to order when you don't speak Chinese as their English is limited - you can always point at the displayI have been coming here for years as it's closer than going to Chinatown for some Chinese bakery goods. The place is always busy in the mornings and there are a few tables that are always occupied by people chatting with each other while sharing some breakfast. It doesn't look super clean and it's a bit old but it does the job as majority of the people take their stuff to go. There are a variety of buns that you can point to if you don't know the names but keep in mind that a lot of these customers cut in line so you must make haste. I usually get the egg tarts (classic favorites), pineapple bun and the corn bun. They're good when warm but you rarely get them warm. Stop by and try out the delicious buns! They're about $1.30-$1.50 each which has significantly increased since the pandemic."
"Attractive space in this King of Prussia mall location, is true even on a rain soaked Friday morning. Strong Java is likewise the case with obviously well curated and roasted beans to choose among. I bought a half dozen (vanilla, maple, strawberry & cream, banana foster) for a king's ransom, thinking I would be rewarded with excellence in donut baking skills. Well, not quite. Apparently, baked the day before, each was semi stale on first bite. There was little to distinguish between the vanilla and maple variants in flavor, and both textures were past their prime, drying and lacking freshness. The philo layered banana and strawberry pastries had a decent flavor with pleasant light creams, but the delicate layers were hardening and the bite was tougher than it should have been. Rather than cleaving smoothly, my teeth caused the structure to collapse. Disappointing. Flavor without proper texture is less than half satisfying. It teases of possibilities, but delivers only empty promises."
"It is one of my favorite bakeries and pastry shops that I visited recently. My friend took me to this place. And it's definitely impressive with the collection of croissants, cakes, and pastry options. The store looks fantastic in and out and maintained well, super clean, and it gives you a nice environment to sit and relax. My friends ordered coffee, and I got spinach feta Danish. And everything came right on time. The service is fantastic and the staff is friendly. The Danish tasted great and will try this place again. They have a shared parking lot and a lot of good stores in that strip mall."
"This location is in a convenient location. The store had my pretzel tray available earlier than I expected which was perfect for me. The owner seemed very friendly and helpful and even gave us some coupons to use for later. Amazing experience."
"Food: The tea was presented in a beautiful glass tea pot on a matching tray with tea candle to keep it warm. The veggie omelette with mushroom sauce was fresh and delicious. A bit overpriced. Service: it's a very small cafe. There's one server who was very pleasant and happy. Ambience: If you're Eastern European or Russian you probably won't get the strange looks I received from patrons soon as I walked in. The decor is going for affluent garden cafe. The seats are comfy, the flatware was gold colored and heavy. A YouTube playlist of Enrique Iglesias and current rnb videos streamed on a large tv."
"Butterscotch has been the favorite spot of my wife and I for several years now. So, when planning our recent NYE wedding, we immediately reached out to Nui and her staff about providing some finger foods and desserts for our day. And... rating the experience and the products on a scale of 5 stars seems inadequate. Every aspect this process was great beyond our expectations. Seamless communication throughout, clear understanding of our needs and our budget, and every piece of food was both delicious and beautiful. If you need a perfect weekend meal for 2, or 75.... Or anything in between. There is no other choice. A million thank yous. From Dave, Jenny, and all of our guests."
"I love this place!! We understand each other using the universal language of pointing! Lol I point, they pack it up. How much? Once again that we point at numbers lol. They're super courteous and always smiling. Not once have I had a bad experience in this place. I've been here about 8 times in two years. Things haven't changed and if they did, it's for the good or barely noticeable."
"My love for Paris Baguette truly will never die!!This is my new go to place for picking up birthday cakes or even just taking someone to meet for pastries and coffee / tea. I have been to the one located inside the Cheltenham H-Mart and the one in Chinatown, and both are consistent in terms of quality and service.First off, the service is always amazing - everyone is always incredibly polite and helpful, huge kudos to them.Secondly, I love the pastries and cakes. The cakes are never too sweet which is so nice - I love cake but have never loved the really sugary and pasty icing that is so typical of your average birthday cake. Welcome to the world of light and fluffy cream cakes, with fruits and other light flavors. Try one for your next party and everyone will love it, I guarantee it. With your cake comes a cute little plastic cake knife that they'll provide for you and they'll also let you pick out a birthday candle and ask if you want a chocolate Happy Birthday sign. The picture I have is of my lovely umma's birthday cake - she was so in love with it, and she has extremely picky about her desserts, so if my umma loves it anyone will honestly. (I picked a simple fruit cream cake). It's also not huge, which is quite nice - no one loves eating leftover cake three days later.Their tea and coffee is really good, and I've had several of their different tarts and pastries and I have yet to be let down by one. I've also had their matcha and tangerine rolls and U G H I cannot emphasize how good they are!!The interior is perfect for a little dessert date - there's a decent amount of seating and the atmosphere is nice (it's cutely Parisian themed, even though it's a Korean chain. Everyone's wearing berets. Cursed / cute, you decide). The next time you're craving a little sweet treat, please stop in!"
"Such a chic coffee shop/bakery. They have a work/meeting space in their downstairs area. Coffee was great. Love the staff and service."
"I came here on Christmas Eve to grab a dessert as a Christmas gift. One thing that caught my attention is the Christmas Yule log cake. Very cutely decorated. They also had other Christmas cakes too. I asked the staff there about the price and she said $18. Not a bad price for a Yule log. I left the store weighing my options and decided to get the Yule log.A different person helped me with the order and I gave my credit card to pay. After walking a half block away I checked my receipt and saw that he charged me $25 so I went back and said that she told me it was $18. I got my $7 in cash.I had a box of cuccidati and it's kinda hard. The Mexican bread and pastries: the pineapple pastry is moist and pretty good, some other bread tend to be dry. The fruit tarts look enticing."
"Fantastic fresh bread and cookies at the Berwyn Farmer's Market.Very good breads from $6 to $11.Fresh, large, gorgeous loaves."
"Musette is the perfect cafe to spend a Saturday morning at with a good book. The cafe is small with tons of plants and natural light. It feels like a green house. The cafe has a good amount of seating but it gets packed if you don't come early enough. The coffee was really pleasant! I enjoyed it a lot. The food was good too! I ordered the shakshuka which was very chili flavor heavy. The egg served was a fried egg. I also got a salad that came with trout, green beans, and a soft boiled egg. It was a delicious salad! I wouldn't never have thought to pair those salad ingredients together but it worked well with the dressing! I was impressed by the salad. The food is pricey for what you're getting. My total bill was $50 for 2 coffees and dishes. Kinda steep for a cafe but it's fine since I was able to catch up with friends :)I wanna come back and have a slow Saturday here!"
"Vietnamese coffee. Pineapple bun hot dog bun and roast pork bun are my favorite It's a small place but we generally takeout"
"If you're in the Rittenhouse Square area, Vibrant Coffee Roasters is THE PLACE to get your coffee (then walk it to the park if it's nice outside; this is not really a place you sit inside at, and while there are a few tables outside you're literally just a minute from a nicer atmosphere then "generic city sidewalk").I can't speak to any of the baked goods, there weren't any vegan options. The Signature Lattes are where they shine (seriously, look through other reviews), and they change with the season. When we first came it was early summer, and we tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte and Cookie Butter Latte both iced with oat milk and an extra shot of espresso. SO GOOD. When it comes to lattes, personally I think you've always got to add an extra shot (in this case, the drink as is comes with two shots - again, that's just not enough caffeine for me). It adds more of that coffee flavor (and Vibrant roasts an exceptional bean - I regret not buying a bag!) and cuts back on the sugaryness of the flavoring. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte tasted like the milk leftover from a bowl of cereal! The Cookie Butter Latte was somehow both sweet AND savory, and for sure my favorite of the two. Our drinks took a little longer to come out than other folks in line (again, because of all the espresso) and there's no real place to wait, so we were just sort of in everyone's way. It seems like regulars here don't mind though, they're in and out so fast. I appreciate there was a bathroom to use while we waited too!"
