Arrived at two pm for a late lunch. Found out they have a daily buffet until 1 pm so I will come earlier next time.Got a two meat plate, brisket and sausage. I did it think the portion size was very large. My entree and a soda were over $20.It does come with a buffet for sides. The buffet also had fried chicken and hamburger patties. Not sure I was supposed to get meat patties but I did. As I was eating they were breaking down the buffet. So much for seconds lolThe food was very good and the ambience is a home town comfort food restaurant.I felt the meat plate could have had a larger serving size but I did get pretty full so I shouldn't complain. I will be back again.

https://www.google.com/search?q=peters+bbq+71&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari&dlnr=1&sei=MxQgZfv7NY67qtsP2MGn0AU#Ok hands down this is one of my favorite restaurants in Texas. Period the end. They are on Hwy 71 in Ellinger Tx. I have been going there for 20 years or more and never had a bad meal. Not sure how long they have been there but 1951 is scratched into the cement by the front door. This place has never changed. Not fancy and I love it that way. A true Texas gem not a wanna be. From the people to the building to the food. Everyone is nice and personable. Some of the best award winning BBQ. But their lunch special every day is over the top. Yesterday - homemade turkey and dressing meatloaf- the best I've ever had fried chicken- can't even tell you how amazing , (and the wonderful woman came out who cooked it to introduce herself when I told one of the guys how amazing it was). BBQ chicken and pork ribs Potatoes and onions, carrots, cabbage , greens, cole slaw , potato salad . Homemade peach cobbler (yes it comes with best vanilla ice cream) , banana pudding and sweet rice. And I'm sure I missed something. It's like going to a fabulous thanksgiving meal in someone's home that they spent days preparing. You can taste the love! I'm not kidding. Anyway if I haven't made you hungry I don't know what to say. If you have never been go! Id say it's definitely worth the drive especially if you find yourself driving to Austin. Drive hungry and stop for lunch. Love these guys and this place! Anyone ever want to meet me there I'm all in!

Stopped in for lunch on a drive from Houston to Austin. Tasty sliced brisket and chicken sandwiches, were a little light on sauce so ask for extra if ya want. Small town TX BBQ.

You've seen Peters. You've passed it a zillion time just like me. Only this time, I stopped because the offering down he road in La Grange was embarrassing to be called Texas bbq. This place is legit ! And the brisket and ribs are well worth the stop. Moist, tender and juicy, I can say you will not be disappointed. Next time I'll try some other delicacy, but the brisket will always be on my plate !

Peter's BBQ catered an event for us, and they did an excellent job. They had everything they needed, they were there on time, and the food was absolutely delicious. We ate the leftovers for days and didn't get sick of it. I really enjoyed their brisket the most. Their sides were also delicious, which included the potatoes with onions and green beans.

The place is alright. Just don't go if you're married to an Asian woman or anyone that isn't white. The local guys and the people behind the counter will stare you down. I'm white and my wife is Filipina. Every time we go there, you wouldn't believe the stares we get from the guy behind the counter and some of the guys sitting there eating. Guess they never saw a brown person before I don't know.

We pass Peters often and decided to give them a try. We were very underwhelmed especially for the price. Everyone who got the brisket described it as dry. Maybe we caught them on an off day...

Confused by reviews. Stopped by on the way to Austin (saw the 4 stars on Yelp) and was severely disappointed. Moist brisket was severely underwhelming, sausage was bland, and sides were just fine (though seemingly canned based on the stacks of baked beans cans). To top it off, didn't have the warmest interaction with folks up front. Odd meal. Don't recommend, just have a burger at Hrskuras next door.

Love me some good Bbq and decided to try this place. We ordered the 2 meat combo which was reasonably priced. They have their sides in a buffet style line so you can service yourself. The sides were warm but the meat we got was room temperature which was very disappointing. The ribs, sausages and brisket all tasted good but decided to take them all home so I could eat them hot. The gentleman behind the counter asked how it was and informed him the bbq sauce we got was warmer then the meat. He looked puzzled but didn't even check the temperature of the meat. The bbq sauce had a metallic taste and taste like it came out of a can and as it cooled off it congealed. Just extremely disappointed in the TX bbq joint. Won't be going back.

What's better than good BBQ? Good BBQ at an unbeatable price! Whenever I'm driving from Austin to Houston, or back from Houston to Austin, I always stop at Peter's BBQ. You can't miss it, it's the red and white building near Hruska's. I stop there because the food is great, real Texas bbq, and my kids love it too! My daughter will eat a whole bowl of green beans. Even though she never eats green beans when I make them! My son loves the chicken, but my favorites are the brisket sandwich and spicy beans. I also like to order a whole chicken to go so I don't have to make dinner later. It's the best. After everyone is done we all get a free vanilla ice cream cone and hit the road. I know most people like to stop at big places, but we prefer the to support the locals, who are always happy to see us and welcome our business with open arms and big plates of food.
