Genos VS Pat:: Did I just eat two cheese steaks in less than one hour? Yes I did, I will be taking no further questions at this time....Loved the staff. Guy at the front counter was friendly as heck! I got the American Cheesesteak no onions. It's exactly what you imagined, steak shredded, cheese and bread. Ate it outside on this fine day. Felt like a true delphian...(I'm trying out different words here). This was a GOOD steak. I would have liked more cheese, but I didn't get that option because I thought it would be enough. I'm a cheesy gal. Thats on me. Steak was a bit dryer than I'd like but still fuckin decent! Also you one upped the rival, yall take freaking cards. Go you!! All in all 4/5. Love you Philly, I'll probably see you never again but so glad I stopped by Pats!

Stopped by at 2pm on a Thursday. No line. Quick and somewhat friendly service. Ordered a pizza steak and a cheesesteak WIT (with) WIZ (cheese wiz). Both steaks were lightly filled with meat. Not enough meat for the large roll. Meat was not finely chopped. Meat was a little dry.The rolls were tasty and classic Philly bread.I've been here before.Next time, I will try Geno's across the street.

I have to be honest with myself. This place might be better than Jims on south street (really sucks that im saying this but im not lying) Its nothing fancy, the seating is outside, on any late night the one we came from a concert at the Fillmore, you wont see a huge line (they aren't as popular as they once were many many years ago) . The service is quick and the flavors outweigh Jims with NO hesitation. I ordered the pepper steak with mushrooms/ onions and whiz and OMG IT WAS SO GOOD ! Even my man who was tired of cheese steaks (mainly because no other place met his expectations) - Even he devoured his . Im sorry I didnt take a picture of the sandwich guys, we were en route to NYC - just know, you cant go wrong with this Place.

About 30 minutes wait to get to the front of the line. They had the cheesesteak ready to go a few seconds after we ordered and had to wait about 5 minutes for the fish cake sandwich. The sandwich was decent. Not as much meat as before. The bread tasted a little less fresh than in the past. I wish they had made the sandwich to order so it would have been fresh after waiting in line so long.

Very fast service!! So fast they didn't give me the mushroom cheesesteak I ordered. It's a legendary place. There are many better cheesesteak restaurants. However, their hot dog was the best my or I have EVER had! I would love to know where they source the meat from! Delicious!

I was visiting Philly and knew I had to try a cheesesteak wit the wiz! My cheesesteak barely had any wiz, was dry, and lacked flavor. I really wanted to love this spot as it's iconic but was left disappointed.

I remember the first time I ever had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I had just watched a Food Network special on Pat's and somehow managed to convince my dad to make the drive over. It was nerve-wracking and I remember practicing my order under my breath as I waited in line, but when I received my mushroom steak wit' Whiz, it was pure heaven. Gooey, salty, beefy heaven. I'm not sure if the quality at Pat's has dipped since, or if my palate simply expanded to include D'Alessandro's, Chubby's, and Angelo's. But on my most recent visit, the cheesesteak both beef ($15) and chicken were dry and lifeless. They also took away the vat of hot cherry peppers in the back that I always looked forward to. Getting ketchup for my fries ($7) was a hassle too because they took away the little sauce cups so I had to fight my way back into the very long line to ask for them. Overall, it was just not the vibe I was expecting and while I have very lovely memories of my childhood there, I think that's where Pat's should stay-- squarely in the past.

So the Philly Cheesesteak is one of my favorite sandwiches so when we decided to come to Philly for the first time, well I knew we were going to have a couple. Maybe more!! We came to Pat's knowing Geno's was across the street. And of course, I had to try both. My wife jumped into line and sent me across the street. When i asked what time of cheese she told me to get provolone. So imagine when I get back and her sandwich from Pat's has cheese whiz! Wait, what? Like cheese whiz out of a can. I guess the answer is yes but not the aerosol can we used to put in our mouths. Oh stop, you did too do it.I will say the traditional cheese whiz method was so much better. ORDER WITH THE CHEESE WHIZ! I have to say that this is so different than the style of Philly cheesesteaks I have grown up eating. I'm not saying it's better or worse and I certainly won't say it in Philly. The seating we had was metal picnic tables with bench seats outside.Oh, my wife came back with like three sodas: root beer, cherry and what i think was root beer with cherry soda mixed. I'm not much of a soda guy but I did taste them. OK!I did NOT and will not say which was better but I will say we were still a little hungry so we ordered another from Pat's with the whiz. I can't believe I'm actually writing that.

I give it a star, a lone star because it had no taste, was very oily and had no seasoning. The bread was soggy. The onions weren't cooked as I've asked. The worst I've had, one the worst.
