Parada Maimon

Wanted some DR food and thanks to Yelp! I found Prada Maimon. Cute corner establishment with street parking within walking distance. The staff was hands down welcoming, sweet and made you feel like family. They were so attentive and made you feel comfortable and didn't rush you for ordering. MALTA "Drink Choice"*So refreshing and needed with my meal, they even gave me a cup of ice but traditionally you just drink this straight up from the bottle. I haven't had this in forever.PASTELLIOS (CHEESE)**Been wanting this since June and finally got this. Gooey and the right amount of cheese and crispness. I had to order extra for later lolWHITE RICE & BLACK BEANS ***Portion was a lot and enough to have another meal the next day. Rice was soft and perfectly cooked, beans were good but I just wish sauce was a tad bit thicker and a little less sodium. SAUTÉED SHRIMP WITH ONIONS & PEPPERS ****Soooo seasoned, cooked well, even the juices were a great addition to the rice. Shrimp was good size and tasted amazing. I wonder if they have this in fried form bc I def would get that next time. FLAN *****Last but not least, the dessert. This was ok, I just wish it had more of a creamy texture and taste. Since I'm a baker, I'm a lil particular on desserts but maybe this is perfect for someone else. Presentation beautiful and caramel was a delight.I loved this spot and if I'm in town again, I would definitely revisit, the welcoming atmosphere made it worth coming back to in the near future.

My oxtail stew dish was really good! I haven't had oxtails for a while now and was a bit hesitant after reading a great review as well as a not so great one. I'm here to add another well-deserved, glowing review because this meat was sweet, tender, and succulent just like how oxtail stew should taste. I am particularly impressed by how well they've managed to reduce the bone shard content. If I were to get oxtail stew from a myriad of other places, it would likely contain bone shards here and there. The portion size is huge and I was going to save half the stew for a second meal, but it was so finger-licking good that I treated myself to that second helping. I got yellow rice to accompany my meal and what the online ordering sites don't tell you is you actually get a side of beans, too, so that's like a second side. I'll be visiting this place again soon!

Love that this place feels like a hidden gem but they honestly deserve to be packed at all time. This place is INCREDIBLE and I am getting hungry just looking at the pictures. The two times I've gone I've ordered the fish chunks which come with rice and beans (so delicious!!). You must try their sweet plantains and their tres leches cake. I've tried bites of the oxtail and, as some who has practiced pescatarianism (at times loosely) for 5+ years, it makes me question everything. It's just so so good. Service is friendly and I love that they're BYOB. The prices are super reasonable for the portions and the quality of the eats!!

First time taking a dive into Dominican food and I wasn't disappointed at all. Popped into Parada Maimon right before a concert at the Underground arts. Perfect pre-entertainment meal. Great value and portion size. Big helping of rice and beans. Gentlemen working the register was super kind and made a great recommendation.

Delicious food, great prices! We ate in but this place seems great for take out too. We loved the ropa vieja, oxtail, fish bites and plantains, as well as the passion fruit and tamarind drinks. We came in late and the owner was the only one working and he was very friendly. BYOB which is always great. Heard their desserts are delicious too but didn't get a chance to try. Highly recommend

OMG so good! Better than good- great!! We are and are until we could eat no more (then I had a few more bites)! We couldn't be happier. At least 10 meals in 3 days while we're visiting town (most we split) this time we HAD to indulge!! So glad we did. If you're reading this just go! East and be merry!!

I had this gem bookmarked for a bit and was happy to find myself close by. I made my way there, because today, I really needed some comfort food a la Dominicano!!!! There is plenty to choose from. Just go and let the scents guide you. As soon as I walked in I was so happy. It felt like home! Surprisingly, it was empty and sadly after eating the food. Y'all missing out! I took stock of the fare and the gentleman that helped me suggested the $10 plate of half a chicken , rice, beans, and a duo of sweet plaintains. I'm in!!!! Mira, the ribs looked good so I had to get some of those AND extra amarillos. This was take out, and the food was still warm. I appreciate the utensils and napkin, lots of places lack on that with takeout orders.Everything was delicious! Period! I'll be going there often, for sure! They have amazing family deals as well. Just go, it hits the spot!!!

Lo mejor de lo mejor. The best of the best. The food is always delicious with lots of flavor and they give good portions for a great price. Other dominican spots are abusing with the prices. I LOVE THIS SPOT. 10 stars.

Every now and then you come across a meal that you will remember for the rest of your life. Unfortunately, I will remember this as quite possibly the worst meal I have ever had. The food seemed old, particularly the ceviche which had a very grainy texture. The only food that was semi-palatable was the fish chunks, which was likely due to the fact that it was fried and very salty. But some of the thicker fish chunks were undeniably raw. Even the rice tasted old. The service was decent, though it felt like they were hovering. Felt a bit like a hostage situation, as they watched us eat. I was only sick for a few days after, money well spent.
