Paleteria Y Neveria La Sorpresa

While out on road trips for our son's baseball games, we often try out local privately owned ice cream shops. On a recent trip to Norristown, we tried out La Sorpresa and we were very happy with the experience. It's a real nice, family-friendly spot with plenty of parking. They have tons of option to choose from, including hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, water ice, popsicles, unique soft drinks, and candy. The ice cream, water ice and popsicles are homemade, and they had very creative flavors. We tried the ice cream sundaes with churros, which were amazing. They made the churros fresh for us, so they took a few minutes to prepare, but it was well worth the wait. The pistachio ice cream was awesome. Their popsicles looked really good, with fresh fruit inside. I'll have to try that next time. Service was very pleasant and helpful. And compared to many other privately owned ice cream shops, it was actually a good value! Seating inside seemed a bit limited, but we were visiting in off peak hours, so we didn't have any problems. Next time we're in Norristown for a game, we'll be stopping off at La Sorpresa!

I accidentally passed by this while looking for another place. I couldn't believe how cute it was. The colors are bright and welcoming. The place is clean and so many options. From drinks, ice cream, crepes, pops to paninis and candy.I got the panini Cesar chicken wrap, the traditional crepe and the strawberry and creme drink. Look how cool the drink is and what it came in:)

What an amazing ice cream shop! So many amazing and unique flavors! Felix helped us and was so helpful helping us pick out our flavors. He gave us several samples of his favorites and any we wanted yo try. It was delicious and we will be back to try and find more favorites combinations! The store is big clean and colorful. so a great find so glad we found our new Ice cream shop!

I cannot recommend this place enough.The friendly staff, the tons of homemade flavors of ice cream and popsicles (for the lactose intolerant), the colorful welcoming interior--it has become a new favorite dessert spot.What we tried:- Cappuccino ice cream and churros(the churros were DELISH, crunchy and the perfect amount of sweet)- Dulce de leche ice cream(sweet, rich, creamy!)- Watermelon popsicle (tasted like it was made straight from a watermelon, no artificial taste)

First of all, YUM! Enjoyed their dulce de leche sundae. It was massive and well worth the 10.99. Hubby had the oreo sundae, which was also massive and very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and the store was bright and welcoming with lots of seating inside. The ice cream is almost like a gelato and isn't heavy like your traditional ice cream. They also have non dairy options, which we may give a try the next time around!

This place is clean, bright and the owner who served us is very friendly and accommodating. They have an incredible selection of homemade ice cream and popsicles- some flavors you're familiar with and some that are probably new. You can try samples of everything. This is the same family that owns El Primo - so go there for dinner and come across the street for dessert. Great addition to the area!

Stumbled across this hidden gem in Norristown while waiting for the shuttle to the elmwood park zoo. This place has so many options from fresh juices, homemade ice cream, popsicles, ice cream, desserts and lunch options. The service is awesome too , the person helping us offered different samples to see what we would like before purchasing and explained all the ingredients in certain options. The interior is so cute and colorful , definitely feel like your transported to Mexico when you walk inside. The crepe was amazing and light and the mangonada was spicy, sour and sweet. The perfect combination, will definitely be back to try more things !

The churros and crepes rival the best in the country. As good as the best Disney churros. Great service and great food. Thank you for being in the area!

Flor de Jamaica, it truly exceeded my expectations. The drink tastes incredibly authentic, capturing the essence of traditional flavors perfectly. Omg. You've never had a popsicle until you've had a sandia paleta from this awesome little shop. Super authentic, fun decor and DELICIOUSLY fruity. Perfect on a hot summer day.
