We were so hungry, I forgot to take photos beforehand. This place might be a hole in the wall but the food tastes authentic. One of the best XLB spots in Houston! Each dumpling has the perfect ratio of meat to soup! Crispy bottoms were pretty good too!The beef noodle soup was savory but has a hint of sweetness to it. The braised pork was delicious with white rice! Very savory. Service was really quick, food came out fast.

Highly recommend the xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), crispy bottom pork bao, and small wonton soup. The wrappers on the soup dumplings and wontons are some of the thinnest I've ever had, with a great filling ratio. The crispy bottoms are perfectly fried with delicious soup filling as well. The service is attentive and friendly. It definitely feels like a small family owned restaurant, and half of the restaurant appeared to be regulars. For the quality of the food, the prices are very affordable. My parents have been coming here for years but unfortunately I've only had takeout, which is still delicious but nothing compared to all the fresh made items.

One of my favorite restaurants in Houston. All of the dumplings/baos are soo good and so flavorful. My favorite are the crispy bottom baos. Also love to order the mapo tofu, water spinach with garlic, and eggplant. I will say I have enjoyed their vegetables and tofu more than their meat dishes. The restaurant has a hold in the wall vibe but I like it when I'm looking for some good chinese food. Service was also quick and attentive when needed. Love this place.

We came here right when they opened due to a line that accrues for this place! A great hole in the wall place for soup dumplings. These owners are the parents of the owners of wanna bao in town! This is a quaint little Shanghai food place and it was pretty good! The soup dumplings are for sure the star of the place - the best thing on the menu. Honorable mentions for me were the noodles with the amazing yummy and hearty texture of them and the pork sticky ribs. Some of the dishes were not my favorite like the wine fish but this was personal preference! Fast service but the credit card machine did not work for a bit - had issues with checking out.

I loved the pork soup dumplings here. I originally went about two weeks ago and was blown away by how savory and perfect they were. I thought 6 steamed dumplings for $8.99 is worth it when they taste this good! I can't recommend this place after what happened at dinner time last night, 8/20/23. After raving about this place to my friends, I ordered 4 servings of the dumplings for us to split, and as my main meal because I didn't want to order anything else. The first 2 containers of dumplings came out great, but the second half of the order never came. After waiting about 30 minutes, we explained to the waitress that our total of 4 orders of dumplings never came. Only half of the ordered amount was given to us. After about 10 more minutes of waiting and trying to explain what happened, the waitress came out and showed us our order, and that 4 penciled check marks next to the order meant that we had received all of our food, but he hadn't! We tried explaining over and over that we only got half of our dumplings and when I said "we're not lying to you, please feel free to check the cameras! We only received 12 total dumplings, not 24" the waitress rolled her eyes at me and scoffed.I was shocked. I've never been treated so disrespectfully when all I asked for was the food that I had ordered. We ended up paying for 4 orders of dumplings, when we only received 2 orders. My fiance tipped an extra $20 and told them "seriously, we never got the full order of dumplings" to try to get them to see that the organization is poor for delivering food, and that accusing the customers of lying immediately is not the way to be. Because of this, we will be going to another soup dumpling place. The poor service and rude staff ensured our distaste.

Such a solid spot! Houston Chinatown never disappoints. We got the soup dumplings and braised pork, and everything was yummy. My only complaint is that their soup dumplings are really small, and I wish I could have double or even triple the size. The braised pork is good but not the best I've ever had. The pork itself is a bit tough, but the flavor is good. They were really busy when we stopped by on a Sunday night, so just be aware if you're in hurry that this might not be the place to go.

I love little hole-in-the-wall restaurants like this place! I've been here three times, but my experiences have been a bit inconsistent. Nothing bad, but ranging more from decent to great. It's pretty slow on weekdays, but gets busy on weekends. Service has been quick and friendly every time though. XIAO LONG BAO: I've gotten these every time I've come here and I always enjoy them! One time, the skin started breaking after sitting out for awhile, but that doesn't seem to be a regular thing here. In that same visit, the soup was a bit more bland than the other times I've come here. I think it was just an off batch. Not sure if it had anything to do with it, but it was also the only time I came here when it wasn't packed. Every other time I've come though, the skin has been great and the soup has been flavorful! I'm honestly addicted to these right now! Totally worth burning my mouth every time lolCRISPY BOTTOM BAO: I haven't had anything like these before! I really enjoy the texture, it's almost spongey? And it always has great flavor!SHANGHAI NOODLES (F06): I love how thick and dense these noodles are! One time they were less cooked than I prefer, so the texture was on the firmer side, but they're normally softer. The flavor vaguely reminds me of beef chow fun, which I love! Unfortunately, there's somehow never much pork in it, but it's always flavorful!SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN: This was definitely better than your average sweet and sour chicken! It was super flavorful, the chicken was very moist, and the sauce was thick, just like I like it!SCALLION PANCAKE: I really enjoyed the texture of this dish, but felt like the flavor was too mild for my tastes. My bf disagreed with me and thought the flavor was fine though. I love the food here, but the inconsistency means you may not be getting the best versions of the dishes. If you don't love the food, I'd say odds are that this is the case. I'd recommend giving it another shot because when the dishes are cooked right, they're fantastic!

Very impressed with this cozy little restaurant tucked away in a shopping plaza. Probably the best Xiao long baos I've had in the Houston area. The skin is perfectly thin, but doesn't tear when you take it off the serving tin. The amount of soup is perfect too. 5/5.Other items I ordered included the garlic Szechuan eggplant which was really good but a bit too saucy (4/5), the rice cakes (5/5) and the chili cod (3/5).Tldr: Come for the XLBs.
