I've walked by this cafe multiple times and finally went in with some friends. The ambience reminds me a tad of Fort Lauderdale - bright and chirpy with plastic chairs. The waitstaff was patient while we dithered over the menu. Our unanimous request for rose was quickly filled, to include a bucket of ice to keep the bottle chilled. Nice touch! The grilled cheese had a medley of oozy cheese and a flavorful tomato jam. The substitution of a green salad with their house tarragon dressing played nicely against the cheese. My friend, a shakshouka aficionado, declared it fabulous. The sauce was perfectly spiced with a great flavor, but I'd take it down a tad from fabulous - the garlic bread was crispy but a bit oily and the added sausage did not seem to be grilled, but rather, warmed in the sauce. Good, but the flavor could have been enhanced. My other friend ordered a burger and fries. He seemed to enjoy the burger and shared the fries. They were herbed, which was tasty. Could have been a tad hotter, but good flavor and texture.I'd give it a 3.5.

Olmstead has such a cute vibe, I just wish their food lived up to their ambiance. I've been here a couple times for brunch and every time I've come I'd say the food's been average, nothing terrible but also nothing amazing. But I will say their portion sizes are great! Massive portions! My favorite thing I've gotten for brunch so far is the halloumi apple sandwich. My date got the toad in the hole and said it needed more sauce and was too "bread-y" but overall said it was decent, but not something he'd order again.

This is an interesting place. From what I was told, it occupies the old Broadway Diner location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. It's definitely a cute little diner that seems to do its best business at breakfast. We arrived at lunchtime. There were five of us and we came hear because someone said they were specifically taking me there for their "American" type food. The lunch menu is severely lacking depth. There were four items: Grilled CheeseHalloumi Sandwich (cheese that doesn't melt)Burger (with or without cheese)Fried Chicken sandwich.Four of us got variations of the burger and one got the Halloumi sandwich. The person serving us seemed frazzled, though the place was empty. Let's first discuss the Halloumi. I had no idea what it was until my coworker told me. She was excited to order it. When she received it, the Halloumi was fried and that was unexpected as it was not stated on the menu. She said it was a good sandwich, but was surprised it was fried and wished they would have stated that on the menu. She may not have ordered it. The rest of us got burgers. I had been in Nashville the week prior and they make good fried chicken. My senses were on alert as I didn't expect good fried chicken in Seattle. The burgers arrived and it looked fabulous. There was a heaping pile of fries on the plate that looked like they were hand cut. We all asked for Ranch dressing on the side and mustard and ketchup. Instead of bringing bottles of ketchup and mustard, they put a dollop of each into tiny side cups used for salad dressing, This was fine for the mustard, but you'd need more if you were dipping your fries. The ketchup clearly wasn't enough for both the fries or the burger. The ranch was basically a thick, creamy mayo with paprika and parsley on top. It did not taste like ranch. It was definitely the aioli. The cooks need to learn the difference. This was the second place I've been to were they added bread and butter pickles to the sandwich. Why do that? It robs from the flavor of the burger. And the burger was juicy, so I definitely missed out on the flavoring. However, the saving grace was that the burger had one of the thickest buns I've ever had. I could just eat the bun to get the burger flavor (I didn't do that). I just removed the pickles and bun to eat the burger with fork and knife. Which, as a sandwich, was not ideal. The server was also painfully slow on the refills for our drinks be them soda or water. There was a lot of staff for very little patrons, so others could have helped him, but they didn't. After everything was said and done, I'd say the food was just okay. Knowing that Seattle has a vibrant food scene, I was a bit disappointed that we specifically traveled to this space as it was truly nothing to write home about.

Amazing restaurant in Capitol Hill! I came for brunch on the weekend recently and it was great. Since it was the weekend it was pretty busy, but the wait wasn't that long (around 15-20 min for a party of 2) and you can reserve online if you want. I ordered the shakshuka and it was amazing! The tomato and the harissa sauce paired well together with the runny egg and toasted bread, so this is one of my favorite brunch places in Seattle.

Loved it before I stepped into the place. The wallpaper, tables & chairs, the plants, the vibes, everything was on point. I got their breakfast sammie with potatoes, it was outstanding. Add a side of bacon to that shit and you will not be disappointed. 10/10.

I was in Cap Hill picking up Chloe for the holidays and treating her to brunch so we stopped in at Olmstead. Miles, our server, was very friendly and prompt. I had not been in the building since the 90s when it was the Broadway Grill. It seems much brighter than then (but that could be a false memory, I'm getting older ).I decided to try the In The Pines which is made with fernet, a fir liqueur, crowberries, and ginger. Chloe opted for a cold brew coffee. The In The Pines was fantastic. We ordered the Toad in the Hole and the Shakshouka with some sausage. Dishes arrived quickly and Miles checked in just after arrival. Being honest, the caramelized onions on the Toad in the Hole were a tad too sweet for me. But that's a personal preference for a very savory version and took nothing away from how tasty this version was. The brioche toast was an awesome elevation for the Toad in the Hole. The Shakshouka was very good as well. Miles did say that these were their favorite brunch menu items. Everything was very good and we had a great Christmas Eve brunch. Stop in when you're in Broadway.

Very cute brunch spot in the heart of Capitol Hill! The interior decor is super colorful and there's plenty of seating. I stopped by with a friend for Saturday brunch and we got the Shakshuka and avocado toast. The portion sizes were decent and we were pretty satisfied with the food as well, although it wasn't anything too memorable for the price. The brunch cocktail menu did look interesting so I would come back for the drinks and just for the great ambiance!

Came here for a late brunch on my birthday and we're seated right away which was lovely considering there were 10 of us. Very cozy and cute restaurant with the kitchen exposed in the middle which I thought was fun to see/watch. Our waitress wasn't the kindest or the most patient which is my reason for only giving 4 stars, I didn't catch her name. She treated us as though we were wasting her time and had a generally rude tone towards our group, was a little disappointing. But, the food was quite satisfying and it was a fun environment to hangout with friends and watch sports. The deviled eggs were incredible, definitely recommend ordering them for the table!!

We were in the city this weekend to attend an event in SODO, and lunch was calling our name. We were traveling via Link so we hopped off on Capitol Hill and headed to Olmstead. I have no regrets!I was worried they'd be busy at the height of the Saturday brunch/lunch rush, but we were able to get a seat immediately and near the open-air portion of the space. This made for some great Broadway people watching while we sipped our beers and awaited lunch. We shared their house salad, which was huge, fresh and adorned with sweet, roasted hazelnuts. We also split what is, apparently, their legendary chicken burger with what I'm pretty sure is the best fried chicken breast I've ever had. The coating was thick, crunchy, and sublime with its subtle spices. It was adhered to a giant, tender, and equally delicious chicken breast, and served atop a fresh bun with all the fixings. The plate was also full of some tasty fries that were similar in style to those served at local Dick's burgers chain - but way better tasting, crispier, and far less greasy. Our server, Miles, was friendly and attentive, and after our meal we got a little tour of the restaurant and their other cool spaces by another employee who was super friendly but I didn't get his name. In the back is their garden room, which they use for a variety of fun events, as well as a full bar which looked like a great spot to grab a drink (or a bloody mary, which I will definitely be wanting to indulge in on my next visit).I can see why this is a popular spot for brunch, and I feel fortunate we somehow snuck in between rushes of hungry patrons!

My best friend and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night, we entered the restaurant and got seated immediately by the host who was super funny by the way Ah hahaha We got seated in the back, which was so colorful the aesthetic gives spring break summer vibes, with the aqua wall paper, green foliage, and pink neon signs. In the back near the bathroom there are pool tables and other other games too with many big TVs on the wall. The bathrooms require a code which any worker can give you. We ordered drinks which was the Lava Lamp and Space Cowboy cocktail. One of the more unique cocktails we've had but they hit the spot for suuure We ordered food from the Evening Menu and for our appetizer to share we got the pot toast poutine which I think was actually duck when we went there. But nevertheless it was one of the best poutines we have had in a long time. The cheese was stringing, the duck was ducking, and the fries where crispy with a touch of the sauce. Highly recommend getting any Poutine in the menu. It is quite big so I do recommend sharing it. For our meals my best friend got the four Mac and cheese with smoked bbq pork belly and her words for her dish was that "the crispiness of the pork belly perfectly balanced our the creamy Mac n cheese" and yes the cheese pill WAS present I ordered the Halloumi apple sandwich which was amazing as it was fresh (from the apple chutney and greens) that was balanced well with the fried halloumi cheese and aioli. I loved that the bread was a toasted brioche I just like brioche a lot. This place is definitively a place I would revisit in the future, it's close to the link light rail and is easy to spot. If you're thinking about a place to go with fast seating, good vibes, and good American food, come to Olmstead!
