This is a little hole-in-the-wall barbecue joint where the limited southern menu is served up on styrofoam sectioned containers, ready for either eat-in at one of the scarred tables, or take-out. My husband ordered ribs and 2 side dishes, and received his meal almost immediately. I ordered a single pork chop, a little cabbage and some green beans (my appetite was low). Their options for pork chops are "smothered" (with what? I wasn't about to ask) or "fried". I chose fried, thinking that it would be cooked in a skillet or on the grill with a few seasonings. We were told that it would be brought out to us. My husband got his drink, and we sat down. We waited for about 10 minutes for my food to arrive. Nothing. Several people came in and ordered fried pork chops to go, got them quickly, and walked out. My husband, who was on a time crunch, opened his box and began chowing down on his lunch. I waited patiently. Several minutes later, the cashier called out "Whajoo want again?", and I replied, telling her what I had ordered. She said "Oh okay, it comin' right up, Ah brings it to ya." A moment later, here she came bearing not a plate, but a snaptop container with some stewed apples in it "because you done wait so long". Five minutes later, she brought me the container. Inside were the green beans and cabbage I had asked for, and two *deep friend* pork chops. OMG, I had no idea they would be deep-fried! That goes against the diet. Oh well. My husband finished up his lunch after I had taken a few bites, and discarded his trash. "Time to go, let's pack it up," he said. Well that was disappointing. I packed it up, and I guess I will put the leftovers in a supper later on. I think this place has changed hands over the years. It used to be light and quick and delicious, with fried chicken and good pork barbecue. Now it's slow and the food is heavy and extra salty. We won't be going back any time soon. Sorry folks. Good luck with your soul food adventure.

I wish I had a positive review for this restaurant, but I just don't. I didn't like anything on my plate. My daughter had a different plate and made the same comments. The food just didn't taste well. The young girl working the register didn't seem interested in answering our questions. Another customer noticed and whispered over to me that she wasn't coming back anymore. She explained tome the food was really good when they first opened, but was going downhill with their quality and food portions. That sucks because although it took me forever to finally visit, I was really rooting for this restaurant.

Enjoyed this place a lot tonight. Stopped in here while visiting my grandad from out of town. I love North Carolina style barbecue and this place was great. The pulled pork and chicken was delicious. Also the hush puppies were awesome. We will definitely visit here again in the future.

This is the real deal! Chopped pork BBQ is tasty, portions are huge. Big fat crispy hush puppies. Collards for days. Where have you been all my life? I will be back!

The food is very appealing. The two Black ladies that work there - the elderly cashier is too defensive and displays a bad attitude. She does not know how to talk to people. The short dark skinned lady who serves the food has no personality. when you tell her thank you she leaves a bad taste your mouth because she does not respond. Bad attitudes affect businesses and their outcomes. Perhaps the owner does not pay the workers enough, This is 2023. Be careful as to how long food sits under lights for hours. I had meatloaf, cabbage and yams after 7:30 PM and the day after my stomach was so upset and I kept belching throughout the day. Food poisoning is a serious issue. We as customers do not know what goes behind the scenes - perhaps the owner has a bad attitude and that spreads towards

When we walked in we was not greeted they just looked at us and looked away. Very poor customer service skills. I felt like the old lady at the register didn't really want to be there. It' just was a unwelcoming feeling. And the bake chicken was salty macaroni had no salt or pepper just noodles and cheese.

I arrived at Ole NC BBQ @ 7:05PM. I placed my order and asked if there was some more chicken cooking . At the time there were only two pieces on the line and it looked like it had been there for a while. The guy at the register was very pleasant and informed me it would be 15 mins. I said ok I am going to walk down to another place in the area and I will be right back.I talked to a man that was sitting in front of the store and said he was the owner. I asked did he drop the chicken because I didnt see anyone in the back, he said no he is the owner. I said ok well they didn't have any chicken on the line and the guy said it would be 15 mins. I came back and the owner was still sitting outside and I went in the store and the chicken wasn't ready. The owner proceeds to go in the store and see what the problem was. The guy in the back . said he didn't drop the chicken so I had to wait an additional 15 mins. Several people had come and gone and I was still waiting. I asked the owner if he was going to give me a discount and he looked at me as if I was crazy.I said sir I have been waiting for 42 mins total and you aren't going to give me a discount or even offer me a drink ? He looked me directly in my eyes and said No, I don't know how long you have been waiting it takes 15 mins for chicken and its ready. So he snatched the bag out of the guys hand that didn't even have my complete order and said here take it its not going to break me. I was caught off guard by this statement and as a paying customer I lost it. How can you treat paying customer that has waited over 42 mins in this manner. I LEFT WITH A FEW CHOICE WORDS. The prior owner never treated the customers in this manner.Oh and the last time I came in the store they didn't even have any bread. There is a big grocery store right down the street that's less than a mile away and a Costco's less than 15 mins away and this is how you want to send the customer out with no bread and nothing in the place of it. I am sure they don't use a company brand since this is a local company.I will never return to this establishment and I will be certain to post this on every website and inform my friends as well. I work for a very large company and I will share my experience with anyone that will listen. Thanks for the experience after a long work day. I left @ 7:45PM

Had a chicken dark meal with pinto beans, cabbage and side of cole slaw. Also fish dinner with mac n cheese and collards. Fish over cooked (fish jerky) and hush puppies no flavor. This is a disgrace to the Soul Food business. I made a $20 donation. The food has gone down from over the years. You need to try Bullocks food and taste the difference. Think it's time to allow another eatery the space Ole NC Barbeque is occupying.

Asked for a BBQ sandwich since it was on the menu, but they didn't have any bread so ordered a BBQ pork platter. Can't remember when I've had barbecue this bad. Meat was soggy, peppered and maybe vinegar? Hush puppies were dried out, Mac&cheese noodles were mushy. Staff didn't really seem interested in working.
