Old Town Theatre

The Old Town Theater opened in 1947 as a movie theater and still has the classic movie theater style. For many years after closing, it sat unused. It reopened several years ago as a performing arts center. Today, you can see several plays each year. It is an essential element in offering an artistic culture in Huntsville.

Such a nostalgic and fun experience to be able to see entertainment in a converted movie theater. Its mission is to provide the community with quality affordable entertainment and it has been accomplishing this task nicely so far. The old movie theatre has been renovated and is quite comfortable and popular with the locals. To make it really fun is that you can eat at a local restaurant on the square and it's a short walk to the theatre. We've seen Shake Russell and now the Eagles tribute band from Houston "Already Gone" and they were pretty good. The sound, vocals and guitar work was good. The lighting system was great and we were entertained. They sell wine and a small beer selection at the entrance. The personal are volunteers and the theatre takes donations as well. Absolutely loved it and I will definitely be back to see another terrific act. Note: they did announce that the ticket scalpers have discovered them and are reselling tickets to $199 each for $40 face value. Use the old theater website to buy the tickets(Outhouse) for the best price.

I really enjoy this venue. It evokes feelings of nostalgia due to it's rich history. Samples of this history are on display throughout in the form of vintage movie posters and photos. Here you can see world class entertainers in a venue with a home town feel. It's the best way to see your favorite performers. There are no bad seats. It's a small intimate venue that puts you up close to the action, even if you are sitting in the balcony. The ticket prices are reasonable. You can easily afford to make it a family outing!It's in a great location. It's just off the town square. Parking is not a problem. If you arrive early, there are a ton of things to do. There's a small park, lots of shops to browse in and plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance.The theater is operated by volunteers. They are very friendly and helpful. There is a concession stand that offers beer, wine, sodas, and water. They also offer a variety of chips, popcorn, and candy. The prices are reasonable. The staff has a great attitude and will make you feel welcome. There are a number of bathrooms for easy and quick access during intermissions.

Ever wondered what the balcony "cheap seats" are like at the Old Town Theater? Yes, there are steps. There are also bathrooms in the common hallway, a great view of the performance and the acoustics are awesome!

I took a day trip to Huntsville and spent some time walking around their cute downtown area. As I took in the sights, one spot that was a must-see for me was the Old Town Theatre. Evoking emotions of decades past, this theater isn an old-school spot that has a lot of character. There are some movie murals outside of the theatre and old architecture. I didn't walk in side so this is all based on the exterior but I would love to check out a movie here one day (during non-COVID times).

This is an outdated venue for music concerts. The seating process is flimsy at best. Customer service skills need improvement. I will be giving my financial support to other locations such as Conroe and the woodlands with a proven history of excellent customer service and listening experiences. This is not an impressive venue by any means. Do not waste your time. Dosey Doe is a superior listening experience.

This is a great venue for live music, community theatre, and unique shows! Great atmosphere, budget friendly prices, and a great place to bring the family or to have a fun night out on the town.
