We were there a week ago for breakfast and it did not disappoint! I got the biscuits with sausage gravy and my husband got a BLT. The coffee was wonderful too! The service and ambiance was really good as well.

Came here for breakfast on a recent Saturday morning. They have all of your favorite breakfast dishes plus some down-home favorites: pancakes, biscuits, eggs, griddled ham, breakfast burritos, omelets...you name it. Pair it with a giant mug of their coffee and you have yourself a meal that will make you very full and happy! I had their 2-2-2 special that came with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs your way, and 2 sausage or bacon. The pancakes were massive and fluffy, something I wish I could replicate at home. Service was fast and with a smile.

It was our first time at Montgomery Steakhouse. My husband and I decided to split the filet and shrimp special. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. We ordered the fried mushrooms appetizer and they were very good. Our order came out promptly and it looked delicious. We took a few bites of the steak and quickly realized it was not a filet. The manager was walking by and I asked him what type of steak we had and he said it was a sirloin. We explained that we ordered a filet and he apologized and said he would make the order correctly. While we were waiting, another waitress brought out a spicy fried green beans appetizer and said it was on the house. Our meal came out shortly with all fresh sides and everything was perfect. The filet was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the fried shrimp were cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were pretty amazing, too. The ambiance of the restaurant had a cozy, western, small-town feel to it and we'll definitely be back to this restaurant because of its amazing food and incredible service.

Well, I should have trusted what I was told about the venue and the whole hot dog incident. But we wanted to see what Montgomery had to offer before we did Wine & Design. To start the staff was rude and ignored us at our table. It took quite awhile to even get drinks. Our appetizer was forgotten but they remembered not to put it on our bill at least. The meal was just ok with under seasoned sides that tasted like they came out of a can or the microwave.

It's small town restaurant patronized by passers through and townies a like. Service is cheerful and pleasant. Pricing is average. Tried the chicken fried steak, had with side of mash and green beans. Potatoes were serviceable and green beans were seasoned from a can...boo. The steak was tender and had an ok batter. Didn't blow me away but didn't scare me away from a second visit.

Solid first visit to Old Montgomery Steak House. My wife's family had several visitors in town for a wedding, so we were very appreciative of the restaurant allowing us to host our large group on the following Sunday morning.Food was great in terms of portion size. I do think this is one of their best qualities, as many of our group left with to-go boxes! I would try something other than the house omelet on my next visit, but overall, the group was pleased with the large menu of breakfast options to choose from. Despite missing an order, the staff was very friendly, accommodating, and they did their best during a very busy Saturday morning. If possible, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you know it's one of their busier mornings/times of day.

we went for a late lunch. We placed our order but the were both wrong. I asked for chicken fried steak but got fried chicken. They corrected the mistake but quality of food average at best. I had 2 sides, corn( which was can corn and tasted horrible) my bake potato was cold. The butter didn't even melt. we will not return but if you want an average meal I guess this is where you need to go. recommendation: use fresh fresh produce or frozen vegetables, but really can is pretty bad.

I thought I would share my experience from the Old Montgomery Steakhouse. Although I was hesitant to eat here due to the way the owner treated the hotdog kid, it was a convenient place for dinner to attend our Lamplight Ghost Tour of Montgomery. We were a party of 10, mind you I made reservations a week ahead. We arrive at 5:15pm and the place was empty. There were two unfriendly hosts/servers waiting near the door. They had no idea about the party of 10, but quickly put some tables together for us. The woman server was not friendly at all. We tried to make light and have a good evening, getting her to crack a smile once or twice. Service was poor, but food was good. Upon leaving we all decided to walk over to H-Wines where our tour began, 7pm. After the tour we walked over to Bar and Vines to finish our evening with good company. At 11:00pm we walk back to our cars and my son notices his car is GONE. We parked near the restaurant. He parked facing the north building, brown building with siding...I think. He parked facing a business front with a wooden hanging sign.*I forgot the name of the business. Anyhow, we call the police thinking his car had been stolen. Come to find out, the OWNER of the restaurant reported the car abandoned, and had it towed to Conroe. 45 minutes each way, plus $350 to get the car back. The police showed up and said it was not well marked, but there are signs stating Old Montgomery Steakhouse Customer Parking. We were paying customers. Our dinner was well over $300. There is not a time limit on the sign, nor did anyone see the signs, AND there was not a sign near where my son entered the lot or where his car was parked. We are good upstanding citizens, and would have never broken the law on purpose. We do not believe that we are exempt, nor would we ever want to take a parking spot of a future customer at a local business. Needless to say, the parking lot is not always busy, especially at 11 PM. The next day we did speak to the owner and he didn't want anything to do with us. He said it is his right to have cars towed. He also told the tow truck company that we were customers at his restaurant earlier in the day, so he KNEW the car wasn't abandoned. I'm not one to make negative reviews, but I hope you take this into consideration when you think of eating and supporting this local family in their restaurant endeavors. This is not the way you do business, nor is it the way you handle business when confronted. The owner never apologized, never offered to help with the compensation of getting his car back, or even try to make it right. As for my family, we will never spend another dime in his restaurant.
