Before opening as a restaurant in East Atlanta, Ok Yaki originated as a pop-up serving street foods from Osaka, the food capital of Japan. Specializing in okonomiyaki, a crispy cabbage-based pancake topped with savory meats or veggie delights, and drizzled with okonomi sauce, each bite transported me back to the first time I tried okonomiyaki in Osaka. Chef Corban Irby's love for okonomiyaki sparked during his unforgettable days as an exchange student at Osaka University. His vision for Ok Yaki? To serve up fresh and authentic Japanese food right here in Atlanta!

Ambience - really dark, pub vibes, love the open kitchen concept Service - servers were really nice and provided some recommendations Food -Tako yuzukosho - octopus was super tender and cooked just right, tomatoes were really sweet, not sure if I like the texture of hikiji (reminds me of brown rice)Tonkatsu- pork was in a drier side Okonomiyaki - star of the show, so so good

Great Japanese restaurant with unique dishes! I recommend the Okonomiyaki (a Japanese pancake type dish) with pork belly! Or get the combo which gets you both okonomiyaki and the yakisoba in one meal! I love sitting at the bar right in front of the chefs, makes it feel like you're part of the experience, plus watching your food being made just makes you more hungry

We had the okonomiyaki, yaki mochi, onigiri of the day, yakisoba, purin, and dorayaki. It was all delicious! The kitchen is open so you can see the food being made fresh. The food came out relatively quickly and we pretty mcuh cleaned the plates. The ambiance was nice and we had no complaints. We would love to come here again.

I'm a 25-year-old Black male, and my recent experience at OK YAKI was troubling. I was unexpectedly removed from the premises by the staff and manager in front of other diners as well as the police called on me. The stated reason was that I allegedly made a waitress cry and feel uncomfortable. However, when I sought clarification on what I had done, I was met with the response, "It doesn't matter."Despite my attempts to understand the situation, I received inconsistent explanations. Initially, I was told I made one waitress uncomfortable. Later, another staff member said it was two, and eventually, the manager claimed it was three. My interactions with the staff were limited to brief conversations about living in Atlanta, film, and career, along with basic pleasantries like "hello," "excuse me," and "thank you."What was particularly concerning was a white male staff member telling me I "looked like the type" to cause such problems. This comment seemed racially charged and unfair, as the only noticeable difference between me and other patrons was my race and the fact that I frequent the gym.I was also disheartened that the female staff members, who are minorities themselves, did not intervene. Instead, four white male staff members confronted me with hostility, failing to provide any specific reasons for their actions. This experience was distressing and felt reminiscent of historical injustices, where false accusations can have serious consequences. I was treated unfairly, seemingly due to racial bias.I urge OK YAKI to reflect on this incident and consider improving their approach to handling such situations. No one should face unfair treatment based on unverified claims or prejudice. I hope the establishment can learn from this experience and make positive changes for the future.

Foods always good and they do a great job with their mixed drinks. I'm a fan of the yakisoba and don't miss out on the daily onigiri.

Came to Ok Yaki while on a trip because it had great reviews. The place is cozy and is catered towards Japanese street food. We were greeted by a nice waitress and we sat at the bar, which had a great view of the cooks. We started with the drinks which were delicious then for apps, we had the onigiri, gyoza, and pork katsu. All of which were very tasty. For entrees, we had the teppan steak (9/10) and the okonomiyaki with pork. Unfortunately, a hair was found on the okonomiyaki, which was quickly rectified. Will definitely visit this place again next time I'm in ATL.

We went on late Friday night. The parking lot in front is pretty small and was full when we got here so we had to park on the street. We got the Okonomyaki with shrimp as a topping which was our favorite! Basically a pancake with cabbage but somehow very good. We also ordered some small dishes like the tako yuzukosho (octopus) which was light and refreshing, and the tonkatsu which was crispy but a little dry. The ambiance was very chill and casual. The service was good, the waitress made sure we got what we needed.

This is the best restaurant I have been to in Atlanta in a while. I already want to go back because there are so many other things I want to try. We shared amongst ourselves which is the way to go here. We had the pancake with pork belly on top, the steak, fried chicken, cucumbers, braised pork belly, and edamame. Everything was so stinking good, the Okonomiyaki with pork belly was our favorite dish, followed by the fried chicken then the steak. I probably wouldn't go for the steak again, not because it isn't good, it's just not as special and unique as some of the other dishes plus it is a bit pricey. I've had fried chicken before though, and theirs is exceptional. It's a pretty cramped and busy spot. I think the perfect spot to go on a double date or amongst friends. Its got more of a busy Japanese street cafe kind of vibe. While they were slammed for business, the food came out fast. If you haven't gone here, you just need to stop what you are doing right now and go.

Service was great, they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The parking lot is however pretty small and only offer a limited amount of spots. I think you're able to park next door and walk over. The drinks were yummy. We ordered yakisoba, okonomiyaki, and Japanese curry. All were delicious! The ambiance was low lit, and more of an intimate setting. There was bar seating overlooking the kitchen.
