Dark and cavernous, yet a cool vibe with an amazing soundtrack. I didn't come in here for the food, but I came for the drinks. I like this spot because I could pour my own ciders, taste them and so on. My husband was getting a beer and I chose to join him. I appreciated the ability to do so. We didn't get food because we were going out to dinner and I don't think that they had a lot of gluten free finds. But they had plenty of ciders. The only thing is that I had to pour into a clean, empty glass but that's not what I would call suffering. There was a guy behind the counter who let me in the back where I could get my drink. I got a drink as was satisfied. I'd come here for a quick drink, but as for a mealtime, this would not be my spot.

My new favorite beer place! My friends and I had sometime to kill before dinner so we went to the self pour area/speakeasy in the back. They provide you with a chilled beer mug and a card. They have a wall of at least 20 different taps with card slots on top. You put your card in the slot of your choice and pour your own beer. The great thing is they charge by the ounce, so you can have as much or as little as you want. I opted to have just a few ounces of various beers, my own little flight of sorts. I live that I got to try a bunch of beers without getting overly full or too tipsy. They also have mostly local and craft beer, including sours, cider, and hard kombucha. Amazing! We immediately knew that we would be returning soon. Great place, fun experience, and cool vibes.

I love this place the vibe is great , the music is nice , food is tasty , drinks even tastier , and the parking isn't really too complicated ! The pricing rounds up to about $50-$70 per person Check this place out if you haven't just yet. The ambiance here is really nice I love it , they have a room "the tap in" room where you push a door and enter through you can also request to eat and drink inside. this place is such a wonderful vibe!

FOOD:I ordered the chicken tikka sizzler as part of the indian fusion portion of the menu for $24. The chicken which was shockingly dry, and under seasoned as well. I was especially disappointed since the waiter recommended the dish as they most popular and I was very disappointed. The seasoning was not particularly standout either, and the dish tasted like a worse version of normal chicken tikka masala. I ordered the green nemesis as a cocktail for $16, which was just OK. There are too many flavors in the drink and I felt like none of them really worked together.SERVICE:Waiter was very nice and accommodating for our large group of seven.AMBIANCE:Not terrible, gives more of a modern classy vibe. The concept of beer on tap is interesting but it is not suitable for large groups. They also only have one bathroom so you're in for a wait if you need to go.I will give this place two stars just because the waiters and ambiance are nice but I wouldn't waste my money here.

I liked the vibe in here. We went bar hopping the day we came here and I have to say this was my favorite bar in the Shattuck area. I liked the look, the drinks were great and the speakeasy was cool. I didn't get to try their food but it sure looked good. We also tried a small amount of some passion cocktail in the speakeasy that was delicious. I'd definitely come back here.

We went to tap in for their self serve taps. It's a cute speakeasy concealed as a fridge of beer. They have a variety of beer and kombucha on tap. They also have cocktails but it wasn't available when we were there. I would come back if there are cocktails since I am not a big fan of beer. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you love beer and are in the Oakland/Berkeley area!

Was looking for a place to chill before a show at the UC Theater and found this spot that was about a 5 minute walk from the venue! Wasn't expecting much, but was happily surprised once inside! Staff is friendly and lots of seating around Friday 8pm. It was giving speakeasy vibes with the back door that leads to the bathroom and self serve taproom! House cocktails were great, but I was blown away by the Tikka Masala fries - sooo saucy and good!! If I lived closer, I would come here just to order these fries for takeout haha

We used to come here when it was Barbarian. It's under the same owners but they've attempted to glam it up. The portions and quality are terrible now. I got 3 pieces of chicken in my extremely subpar tikka masala. What you see in this picture cost $42. I was also charged $6 for 2 soda cans and they had the audacity to charge a $10 automatic gratuity. For take out! I will never go here again. I was scammed by their website prices which are not updated and was absolutely shocked by my $63 bill when it was shoved in my face at the restaurant. I'm all for spending a lot on good food but this was NOT good food!!!

I absolutely love this place because of the AMAZING FOOD and drinks but all of the staff over all has zero hospitality. I have been coming here about twice every month for the past year, the only thing that brings me back is the food. But every time I have a terrible experience with servers/security/bartenders. Wish this place would care a bit more!

As someone who lives on the Peninsula, I don't mind making the trip to Berkeley just for this spot. Whenever my group can't decide where to go, I always suggest this bar, and it's always worth it. I've recommended it to my coworkers a few times, and while it's a bit of a trek from the office (with unpredictable traffic), it's consistently a good choice.Greg at the door, the servers, and the bartenders, Jack and his team, go out of their way to make you feel welcome and match your vibe. The drinks are fantastic (special shoutout to the time I asked if they can make a passion fruit Pisco Sour it was amazing). Their beers on tap are just as solid. The food is pretty good too.I mostly visited on Thursdays, usually after a nearby salsa night, and the atmosphere was always great. I really miss coming here more often and hope to visit again soon!
