I was legit struggling to rate this place, as a few experiences really gave me a different kind of feeling...I'd say this place is more accurate to a 3.5 but given my recent dinner experience and focusing on food, it unfortunately fell a bit short of that. The restaurant vibe is casual & modern, but also quaint with a little bit of farmhouse vibes to it. The bar leans more casual/modern, while the dining room carries that quaint/farmhouse feel (as I sat in one of the big round tables with my family for our dinner). I've also sat outside with my husband for lunch (which is def. my preference), since it's actually more quiet/chill and perf on a nice sunny day. This place is smacked in the middle of downtown - so it can get busy, and the street parking is def. an issue during peak times. Service, each time I came here was great. The staff are humble and happy to make recommendations if asked/inquired. Food came out fast and we were checked on often, without it being overbearing.Menu is interesting - it is mainly new American, yet there is some comfort food sprinkled in along with Asian fusion. This, ultimately, is what I think ends up being the issue overall (++consistency). There is also a full bar with a great selection of beer/wine - but ofc I opt for the cocktails, which I'd say, are a must here.Let's dig in:(1) Artichoke & Jalapeno dip - the first time we had this for lunch it was super tasty, piping hot and perfectly spicy. When we got it again for dinner another night, it was sadly way too salty. (2) Fish Tacos - had this for lunch and it was delish, one of the better fish tacos we've had. Ordered this again for dinner (which I would say prob. shouldn't be on a dinner menu) and it was a bit lacking in flavor/seasoning that time. (3) Chicken sandwich & fries - this was good overall, chicken was well seasoned and juicy, with the right amount of veggies/sauce. Fries were classic + came out nice and hot.(4) Deviled Eggs - this was meh and very sad for me since y'all know I LOVE eggs...the miso and spicy crunch sauce was just too salty and overpowering. (5) Beet Salad - this was so good! The beets were delish + the greens, citrus, and yogurt sauce added a great balance of flavors and textures.(6) Mushroom Pasta - this was OK, there was a good amount of mushroom and beef flavor but the taste was a bit monotone, even with the fresh cheese on top...felt like there was still something missing.(7) Fish and Chips - this was fair, it's the same fried fish they used for tacos, which was crispy and cooked well + the garlic fries was where the real kick and flavor came from. (8) Brisket - this was OK, the meat was tender and flavor was classic + the beans were tasty, while the jalapeño (or cilantro I can't remember) flavored mashed potatoes were unique but a bit bitter. Cocktails here are def. worthwhile! I had a hibiscus cocktail with an egg white froth that was delish and perfectly balanced. My sisters had a strawberry margarita and watermelon tequila based drink, that were also both tasty and refreshing. The men in our party, opted for beers, and liked the selection/variety on draft.Overall - I'd say this is a great place to pop by for lunch...but for dinner I think expectations tend to be higher, and food can lean a bit underwhelming. Consistency is an apparent issue, but also I think focusing their menu a bit more would help with that overall.
