Hailey was the best! Super attentive and came around multiple times to make sure we were taken care of, even when the bar was in full swing. Food was good too, very very generous with their portions. Always a good time at Rookies.

Hosted a small corporate happy hour there on June 22, 2023. Arrangements were handled by phone, text, and email directly with the owner, Ben Taft, who said they had a new event room in the back of the bar that our group could use. He emailed photos of the space and did not indicate there was a room fee. We accepted and made no other requests besides the space for our team. We arrived a bit early, and the staff had no idea who we were and were unaware of the room reservation at all. We left to give them time to regroup and returned a half hour later, and were taken back to the closed room (no lights, no bartender, no televisions on, no music) and they scrambled to set up the room for us. The staff was kind and obviously trying their hardest to give us a good experience. We ended up pushing a couple of tables together next to the bar for our group; the other rooms/alcoves/entertainment spaces in the back area were not opened to us. We're a small, low-key group and were able to make the best of mediocre but serviceable food and better bar drinks over the course of about 3 hours. Until it was time to pay.The bartender took me aside when presenting the bill and said the owner had instructed her to add a $500 room rental charge. I was floored. This was never mentioned verbally or in writing, and she offered to phone the owner back for clarification, then handed me the phone so that we could speak directly. The owner insisted I had been advised of the charge. We have strict expenditure policies - I do not even have the authorization to approve a $500 room fee. (Our entire bill aside from the room fee was $700.) I certainly would have never agreed to it for a 3 hour event for so few people - not with so many other options available nearby. But this put me in the awkward position of standing next to my boss and in front of colleagues, in a heated discussion with the owner on a bartender's cell phone over this fee. He eventually agreed to review all correspondence and refund the fee if I had not been advised. Having literally no other recourse and with the fee having already been added to the bill, I agreed. One month later, despite forwarding all emails and text conversations directly to the owner, he has not responded AT ALL to ANY emails, texts, and phone messages - quite literally has not acknowledged even one since the day of the event nor tried to contact me at all. It cannot be overstated how unprofessional and disingenuous this is, and how disappointing this whole experience has been.DO NOT BOOK YOUR EVENTS HERE. Lesson learned, and none of our local or traveling team will visit Rookies again, especially with so many other options on the same street.

It's a classic sports bar but the food was above average, my friend got a burger and enjoyed it and my ruben was the best I've had out in Benicia/Vallejo. I'd go back again for sure, especially while drinking!

Stopped in with my husband on Fourth of July to grab a few shots before the fireworks show! Shots were $16 each for Don Julio. I get that it was a holiday so business was booming but I should've just brought my own bottle since this place broke my pockets! Also, on our way out, we decided to order a couple appetizers to go (this is what really encouraged this review), reviewed the menu and was really excited to try the items we chose! We got onion rings, fries and nachos and then headed back to our spot. Fries was okay, onion rings were good and the nachos was BEAN NACHOS- not good at all! This place needs to update their menu!! Fooled us thinking we were gonna have the typical beef or chicken nachos! Will not be returning!

So yes again the best fish & chips. Staff is great! And chef/cook for second time came out to see if everything was good. We ask for no extra salt and they always take the time to honor our request. Highly recommend!
