McBears Social Club and Beer Garden

Came in on a Saturday night to get a quick drink. Nice place and vibe not too crowded. Bartender Rosa greeted us right away. She makes great drinks. My margarita was really good. We sat outside in the back, nice little spot with tvs where you can watch sports. We will definitely come back

Great local place. If you are looking to have a quick drink and just enjoy a calm evening, come here. There's a taco truck outside, good music, never crowded, good local crowd and plenty of parking.

I love this place. Please don't come here.Please don't ruin the nice, chill vibe. Please don't harsh the mellow atmosphere created by this eclectic mix of retirees, OGs, yuppies, sports nuts, and other East Bay denizens.Please don't tell your friends about the gorgeous outdoor beer garden, decked out with beautiful oak furniture, four TV screens, and full Wi-Fi coverage. Remain mum about the fact that it's the best workspace in town during the day, and a great place for happy hour on the weekends.Especially do not tell them about the La Estrella Food Truck, and the awesome eats that they serve up just outside the front door.This might be my favorite place in town. Please don't ruin it for me.

The perfect neighborhood bar! Friendly staff and customers. Oh, and a great Mexican food truck.

Barney McBears is one of the few bars in the area (or the east bay) i haven't been to. could be i didn't want to look for parking or didn't see any. it's next to the Bank of American parking lot. and a large taco truck.Barney is a typical neighborhood bar, it's no dive. there's a beer garden in the back as well as a patio (which closes @10).many flatscreens around. lots of drink choices from craft beers, cocktails, & artisan local spirits. crafts are a good cross section. Coronado Islander IPA @6 didn't disappoint.

The world is getting right again - McBears is back open.Had my first outside pint today since March, after popping to the taco truck and seeing McBears has its beer garden open. Can't miss that, I've been pining for this pub since COVID kicked in and now it was time to sample its joys again.The back beer garden is open from 1-8pm every day but Tuesdays. The beers are still on tap, they are very good on wiping down tables with disinfectant, and the layout is pretty good for distancing. Spotted some of the regulars in the place and the TV screens are up for sports fans, but with the volume thankfully turned down and patio heaters running. So happy so see this neighbourhood stalwart back in business. Plus the Wi-Fi works as well as ever. I may have a new home office to work from - with beer!

A solid hang out spot after work before, during and after this pandemic. I've been here several times before and can't for the life of me figure out why I haven't reviewed it. Actually... before COVID this place's happy hour sometimes resulted in some late night snacking followed by a deep sleep and hours of recovery if you know what I mean... so maybe that's why. Anyway, I'm just really glad this place is still around. This place is definitely a local's hidden hangout but it is welcoming to newcomers. There's also an eclectic mix of patrons that truly resembles the diversity of the area. For my most recent visit, I was looking for a place to share space with my coworkers after a year and a half of not seeing each other and a graduation. I suggested this place for the following reasons the outdoor patio/beer garden has a nice vibe (outlets too), there's a full bar (nowadays outside) and a permanent taco truck (which isn't half bad). I thought rather than going to a sit down restaurant this place would make for a better place to socialize freely because people could come and go as they pleased and order/pay individually without the hassle of holding up others or splitting a check. I didn't think to tell the people there in advance that a group of overworked, underpaid, and thirsty teachers were descending upon them. The folks there (which really felt like a family because I couldn't tell who was a staff member and who was a patron) were really nice and accommodating. I can't say enough about my positive experience here! Both here and the neighboring taco truck accept card in case you're wondering. While parking is street only, I've never had an issue finding a spot, just keep track of time just in case you need to move your car within an hour or two.

Staff is friendly and efficient.Back patio is a great place yo watch a game or just hang out.

I've lived in El Cerrito for 28 years. I've passed by this place countless times, and have always meant to come by. However, it was only after I left El Cerrito did I have an opportunity to give this place a try. I'm so glad I did. My boyfriend celebrated his 60th birthday. Rosa and the owner really made it special. It might not be the fanciest looking place, but they are welcoming and the pours are really generous. So much that, i worry that they are not making a profit. I hope they are because I hope they stick around for a long time. Thanks again for a great time!
