Cheap drink & great vibe. This is an old school dive bar. I notice a lot of them are usuals coming after work. Came here after a midterm & did not regret it. Plus free popcorn when the machine is on!

Solid neighborhood bar. If you are looking for a good place to chill and have a drink in the neighborhood, this is the place. Great service and prices.

I am born and raised in Castro Valley and have FINALLY made my way to Curlys!! What a gem! This bar is clean, well lit, has a great vibe and Jen the bartender is just the sweetest. She makes everyone feel at home as soon as you walk in! Not to mention her drinks are off the charts. Also, her friend Sam comes in and makes DELICIOUS food. It is just all around a great environment and I can't wait to go back. Thank you Jen!!

Good ol' Curlys. Local dive bar with heart. You drive by and think, what is that little ugly hole in the wall, but when you walk in, you find it's actually warm and comfortable. The staff are always nice, and the guests are surprisingly varied. Young and old. First time I came here, I thought for sure it would be a bunch of old grumpy men, but had a mix of people and ranges, gen Z to boomers. Enjoyed the dart machine and got to add some art to their collection on the wall. Nothing fancy, but solid. I just wish whoever owns the complex, could give the exterior a little facelift for the sake of the neighborhood (I live down the street and it's a bit if an eyesore, not Curlys per se, just the whole building,) In all, definitely come here for a casual drink.Oh I almost forgot: they had free pizza when I went. No reason, just to be nice. So that's an indicator on the type of place this is.

Be careful with one bartender there over charges you when I know how much I drank anyway I did not argue and paid my bill I'm not going there again taking my business elsewhere

Currently Sunday at 1:56 p.m. Karen is behind the bar and I am eating the cheese and crackers that she served me complimentary. She is very sweet and I like to sit down and talk about the 60s The Grateful Dead Janis Joplin Jimi Hendrix and so on.... Although we are about 30 years apart she is so fun to talk to, generously pours and looks great for her age not to mention she's the sweetest. I believe they call her "The hostess with the mostest" around here. This is my 1st time here and I will definitely be coming back. All I ever wanted from a dive bar Just randomly stumbled on this bar going down on Mission..... Cool.

My fav place to meet some buddies who live on the hill when I'm passing through. Great spot to drink. Regulars are cool, people are nice, and the bartenders know what they are doing.It's a neighborhood bar that's been around for a while. They have darts and a great jukebox. Prices are right too. It's conveniently located which makes it a go to for me. Go see for yourself and you'll be glad you did.

I was raised off of Kelly Hill. This place is a neighborhood dive bar that I had never been to until I moved away from the neighborhood. Funny enough, my friend and co-worker moved a block away from here. And then my other friend and co-worker moved even closer to here. So, when we decided to have a fun girls night, we wanted somewhere close to grab a drink and have some fun. Glad we chose Curly's because it was a fun experience. Great bartender who hooked it up with some stiff drinks. We came here again after a game night and closed the bar down. Good vibes, and homey hospitality. Love that I can have a drink and walk to my friend's, or parents' house, safely.

The electronic dart board is a little glitchy, but we loved the friendly and helpful folks on both sides of the bar who helped us, and cheered our play even when we sucked.

Curly's Place is a dive bar a few doors away from val's. there's a long bar that everyone sits at. nascar's on the telly, darts are flying for entertainment. free popcorn and dogs in the afternoon.pours: sierra(4),. bud(3), w....(4)-beers lukewarm, comes little flat in a cold mug.-bartenders are almost likeable.on draught:-parking in back-mugs situated far away from pour pout, service takes a while.-working class patrons of whites and african americans.-patrons mostly friendly and/or or will be drunk.
