She's a super picky Japanese cook, so I trusted her suggestion to come here with my boyfriend. There was not a thing we did not love. My favourites: har gao, honey bbq pork (aka char su), house special chow mein, salt pepper wings, egg custard tart. YUM! We made a reservation which is highly recommended cos it seemed their wait list was a cluster F. They even admit to that being a janky system. This place was packed but now I see why. I'll be returning."

Charlene G. "I'm pretty sure this was here when I was living in UC 4 years ago, and now I'm mad at myself that I never knew of this place back then.My brother and hubby stopped in for late lunch reservations on a Wednesday and it was pretty empty, wait it was very empty with just one other table with a customer. I was a little worried but more shocked. My immediate impression walking in, I thought this restaurant has a nice interior, welcoming vibes but I was concerned there was no one here eating. Julian, our server was amazing from the start. Very personable, almost like he was an AI/robot, lol jk. He provided exceptional customer service without being overly helpful. For foods, we ordered two appetizers: crab cakes (bro's fav) and the aguachile. Both dishes were so good, I was excited to what was going to come out for our main dishes. The Aguachile had the perfect amount of spiciness with the Serrano sliced peppers and the shrimp marinating in a sour lime juice with spices. Wow, delicious stuff. Now for the mains, I went with the spicy pasta, hubby tried the Cajun pasta and my brother opted for the lobster/crab sandwich. Presentation was on point, really pretty plated dishes! Portions were pretty big, I would say two people can share the pasta dishes, needless to say I had leftovers, so yay me! I was just so satisfied with everything that we ate. From the flavors to the presentation, *chef's kiss good! Customer service, great; Ambiance welcoming and clean. I would 100% come back for a second visit and so should you. I came in expecting a solid meal, but they took my expectations, deep-fried them, and drizzled them with deliciousness.I ordered the chicken and waffles. In turn, they ordered my taste buds to the culinary dance floor. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and nomtastic. My friend had the huevos rancheros, and from the way she was aggressively defending her plate, I assume they were also fire. Speaking of my friend, it was her birthday. Honor Kitchen came through with a next-level bread pudding with plantain and even included a birthday card signed by the staff. That definitely earned me some free brownie--I mean bread pudding--points. :-)Service was solid. The restaurant is beautiful. Apparently, the speakeasy bar in the back is open till midnight? It's a great late-night date idea.If you're in Emeryville and NOT eating here, my condolences!"

It was very sweet creamy and succulent. Probably one of the best I've ever had.Seafood hotpot (5/5): i had to get this dish the restaurant is named after. Pair it with garlic naan and that's already a fire meal. Also ordered goat curry and lamb vindaloo. Not a fan of the potatoes but there was not much. We arrived at 4:05 and were sat at one of the bar tables. The happy hour is from 4-6pm and is for seating at the bar and the tables in the lounge area. The area was pretty much full already. There's a TV on the bar wall that was on a sports channel. The menu consists of six Bites items, wine (sparking, red, white and rose), rotating beer selection, two mock tails, and four cocktails. I got a beer, and we shared the loaded tater tots and each got the Wagyu burger. The loaded tater tots were topped with bacon bits, chives, and a four cheese béchamel. Good size bowl of tots. The Wagyu burger came with lettuce and tomato with cheese add-ons at $1 and fries and dill pickle wedge. The burger was good with toasted buns, but felt the patty could have been thicker. Our waitress was friendly and food came out in a relatively quick. A good happy hour at City Center San Ramon."

Very close to Piedmont Ave. and Kaiser Oakland, Judoku is the perfect spot to dine outdoors with friends, a date, or just playing catch-up with a girlfriend. The staff is so accommodating and friendly, the interior inviting, but the outdoor area..unlike any other sushi spot in the East Bay with fun art, instagrammable backdrops, and just a cool essence. Well done! The menu is massive ~ we ordered the Kakiage Tempura and Bento Boxes for an afternoon lunch and omg what a deal! You can choose 2 or 3 items, so naturally we chose 3 ~ the avocado roll, teriyaki chicken, and pork gyoza accompanied by miso soup, edamame, and rice. Add a salad for a couple bucks if you're dining in! The Kakiage Tempura is so unique, crispy, and one of the most delicious appetizers in the East Bay..I said it! Delicate fried squares of shrimp, sweet potato, yellow onion, shitake and other root veggies combined into one bite. Glorious! And the value of what you can get in the bento box has me coming back for more. I only did the avocado roll this time, but can't wait to try more of their specialty rolls soon. Delicious and clean pieces of teriyaki meat, and super yummy gyoza, not too greasy at all. John D. "The Powers that TeaLocated at the former Masa Ramen Bar (home of the Masa Ramen Challenge as seen on Man vs Food [S8:E19**]), Burma Choice has been serving up one of the more underrepresented restaurant cuisines: Burmese.Burmese food is a Fusion of mostly Thai with some Indian and Chinese thrown in for food measure. Burma Choice is one of only a small handful of restaurants that do this, but it should be noted, they do it very well. The Good:*Friendly service*Dog-friendly outdoor dining *Large shared private lot *Service was friendly and attentive*Local beers on draught, as well as a full bar. *Palata app is a must-order! The crispy, flaky palata was sensational. Imagine a croissant smashed into a flat bread. Yeah. It's that good.*Carissa loved her Pumpkin Stew w/ chicken, as it was a well-balanced soup/stew with good pumpkin flavor that had a subtle sweetness to go with the earthiness. *My current obsession, after reading about it on a local subreddit, is Burmese Tea Leaf Salad. This was only my second time consuming one but it was even better than my first time. Earthy, crunchy, and filled with tons of legumes and other goodies. Please note this is a vegan dish, but I highly-recommend going to the dark side and asking for some complimentary Crushed Dried Shrimp to sprinkle on top of the salad to give it an even bigger umami punch. The Meh:*Jackfruit Bananas dessert was just OK. I felt like all I could taste was the bananas In the filling and not enough jackfruit for my liking. And the ice cream was a boring vanilla. If they really wanted to pump it up, make the filling all banana and the ice cream jackfruit flavored. The Ugly:*Why is it when you're in a mostly empty restaurant they always feel the need to seat people literally right next to you? -_- Kinda like that guy that always parks their car right next to you in a 95% empty lot. Like wtf? Conclusion: Fantastic Burmese food with great service and a nice location. Highly recommended. **I'm actually somewhere in that episode. Hmmm..."

We recently celebrated my mom's 79th birthday with our group of 8 and it was perfect. Reservations are easy to make and modify on open table, which I had to multiple times that day due to changes in plans. Since my mom previously signed up for the birthday club, we used a voucher for a free entree (or take $25 off). Super easy and generous. My mom loved the halibut special and she's picky. The risotto with scallops and sausage is flavorful and rich. It's a must try. The eggplant parmigiana was good and not overly breaded. Cocktails were reasonably priced.I am a Fremont local and appreciate these well established spots. It's a cozy elevated restaurant (mood lighting and linen table cloths), but not stuffy. The bar area is somewhat casual. I have been here in then past for my own birthday dinner, mom's past birthdays, and a casual catch up with a girlfriend dinner. I was able to make a reservation one day in advance for 7 people during peak dinner hours, and even called the same day to change our time with no issues whatsoever. They accommodated us right away and sat us even without my whole party present. Someone had called out, but we never even felt like service was slow or anything. This is a family owned and operated business, and we really felt like we were a part of that. Granted, we had quite a few shots, so alcohol tends to loosen up people but even without that, the whole staff were cool as heck. The food was delicious. Calamari (forgot to take a pic) was light and crunchy, served with cocktail and tartar sauces. The garlic noodles were super flavorful and stayed buttery. Some places tend to dry out and clump up, but not these! The seafood boils also had tons of flavor and spice. Medium was about as much as I could handle. Lol I think my absolute favorite dish was the Player's Plate. It comes with garlic noodles, 5 Tony's wings, 5 prawns and a huge catfish filet. Best bang for your buck, in my opinion. I would get that next time we go. And a special surprise was Tony's Style (Berkeley) was in the building. They were temporarily operating out of the space, so we had to get the shrimp and crab baguette. All that cheesy seafood goodness went perfect with our shots. They have a terrific palate and told me the tuna steak sandwich was really good. I wasn't sure whether to believe the judgement of a person who hasn't been to many dining establishments in their less than 21 years on this earth, but I always give my kid AND a business the benefit of the doubt, and go in with an open mind. I was glad I trusted them. Their sandwich was terrific, cooked to order, accurately too. Succulent moist tuna, nicely seared on the surface, still pink in the middle. No fishy odor (all three times they've ordered it), I was definitely pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Hawaiian style shrimp bowl, which was a nice change from the bready/fried options. with plenty of plump shrimp. Though the sauce overwhelmed the dish (really salty, and way too much of if it), it was a nice mix of savory, sweet, and pungent, and I will get sauce on the side next time I order it. The only thing I wish they had was a side of veggies (steamed or stir fried) as a big bowl of saucy seafood and steamed rice begs for something fresh to accompany it- at least for me! The third visit, I ordered the oyster po'boy, and it's another solid meal. I got it with a side of sweet potato fries (my kid got the regular fries) and all the fried items were cooked in fresh, clean oil. No black motor oil that tastes stale or like it's been around for 2+months, and the oysters were cooked perfectly - not dried out little nuggets of sadness. Briny, rich, crisp edged with creamy interiors, I haven't had fried oysters in years (partners and kid weren't fond of them) and was super happy to finally enjoy this long-verboten dish. Seabreeze On The Dock, I'm worried you're gonna be my newest guilty/healthy pleasure!"

For breakfast and lunch it's counter service. Order and pay and your items are brought to you while water is self-serve. The vibes are quite casual and neighborhood-like like with service being friendly and efficient. For brunch, I got the Organic Tofu Scramble. The dish came with toast, home fries, and their trio of sauces. Portions were nicely sized for the price. I felt that the tofu scramble could've been seasoned more and some parts of the dish tasted a bit flat, so that's when the sauces did the saving. My cousin had the Country Omelet and said it hit the spot. For those in Berkeley looking for a no-frills neighborhood spot, Lama Beans Cafe is adorable and has decent food. After they had completed their meal, the chef left and returned a short time later to our table. We were a party of four and there was another party of four at the table as well. Both groups were into the entire presentation and cooking and had a great time. Some people at the table were not fans of Teriyaki but he had them try his teriyaki he made at the table. Both individuals ended up being fans. The food was good and the rice I loved. The steak was a little dry but I had it with the Teriyaki sauce and it made a difference.
