"I heard Fish Day recently renovated and rebranded to K Kitchen and Fish Day. Previous version was very yummy so thought it would be worth a try. I visited on a Saturday during lunch time. STARS (stand out qualities)-customer service was one of the biggest stars. the owner-couple were so warm, responsive and helpful-local business owned by people of color -food was good quality AND quantity-food came out freshly made and hot -food presentation was nice -owners gave extra for certain banchan since we ate it quickly-reusable eatingware -beautiful interior dining area with booths and tables/chairs-clean bathroom -plenty of parking STAIRS (areas of growth)-recommend compostable or biodegradable large takeout boxes (they did have small compostable ones) -prices feel high to me but I think they are competitive Bay Area prices. Worth the price for all the stars above TIPS-prepare for cash payment if you want discounted prices-I recommend the Chive Seafood Jeon and Ddeokbokki and which was very flavorful and packed with good ingredients -bring friends, family and coworkers! Seems to be a hidden gem at the moment"

Their batter is really good because the fried food stayed crunchy even when I got back home with my take-out. This is definitely a gem in Hayward/San Leandro. Fish n' Chips - large pieces of fish, large steak friesFried Zucchini - large pieces of zucchini fried in crispy crunchy batterThe only draw back is the sauce, they don't give you enough for all those big o' pieces of food.Its located in a small strip mall. parking is awkward but do-able! "Unexpected fish and chips are their own special delight. This was certainly not the neighborhood in which I expected this fare.The cornmeal makes for a dry (not oily) crust. The Alaskan Pollock was tasty. The catfish will be next.The staff are friendly, efficient, and know their stuff. Their cook time estimates were spot-on.Despite a couple handfuls of chairs inside the usually quiet place, orders are packed to go because that's what the clientele wants. We ate in and enjoyed seeing the flow of people. Worth it."

I've eaten at this establishment on and off for many years and just like many years ago as of today the food is and always will be A-1. Fish crispy hot and fresh and so was the fries. This is my second time around with DoorDash and it will not be my last."

"For years, I passed this location up and I've always wanted to stop and give them a try. in February my husband and I stopped by and I ordered the fried chicken wing meal with a side of red beans and rice and collards. My husband went with the oxtails over rice and gravy. My honest opinion is that the food lacked salt and seasoning, and I am someone who does not add a lot of salt to my food. The chicken and snapper were cooked to perfection as were the oxtails, but they needed a little bit of salt. I have the same opinion for the sides. Everything is made with love by the hands of hard-working people and I recommend you come and give it a try and form your own opinion."

"The other day my job had me in downtown Oakland, and I decided to try the fried catfish at this small restaurant. I ordered the Catfish Combo w/ a salad instead of fries. Also, an order of onion rings. The person who took my order was nice and polite. I finally get my food after a short wait. Okay, the fried catfish was good. It was fresh, moist and the meat was flaky. However, the tartar sauce wasn't tartar sauce. It was some sort of salad dressing, maybe ranch dressing? I paid for extra tartar sauce, and both containers were some sort of salad dressing. Now, the onion rings. I like my onion rings battered and deep fried. These rings were limp, soggy, and breaded. They appeared either baked or microwaved. Not crispy at all. This place would of received 4-stars if I didn't order the onion rings.Would I return? No thanks"

"We walked in and was pleasantly greeted! It smelled amazing. Mrs. Dixon came out greeted us and made a few suggestions. I got sole and wings, greens and Mac n cheese! It made me lick my fingers! I had plenty of tarter sauce, hot sauce and ketchup. Some places are so cheap and give you the bare minimum! Not here I had left overs. My daughter got fish and oysters, Spaghetti and greens. She said if she worked there she would be so so so fat because the food was so delicious. Not to mention we got to hickey punch and it was so cold Quinn start Thursday we usually get two or three cans of peas in the one tiki punch actually worked for us we we just got one each. Thanks Dixon keep up the great work we will be there"

"Usually go to the one in Sacramento but today found myself in Oakland visiting my great uncle X (sn, he's black panther hence the last name X... its alot of history, black history when we do lunch.) We went to his usual laundry spot and there's JJs . last time I went I gave em 3 stars, this time was better so I am going with 4. I liked it a lot, and very convenient to eat while waiting for laundry. Yay multitasking. This location stays on brand with the huge portions --we ate whiting cause I like it better than catfish. Also got jumbo shrimp fries bread.... Tried their lemonade which I never have seen it was good. Dessert was chocolate cake, idunno why but it wasn't moist enough for me. All in all thought, twas Pretty good. Not bad."

The menu consist of non meat options so that's a plus for me. They often have cookie and agua fresca too. My kid loves their street tacos. Better than most taco trucks around here."

"Amazing service from the time I looked at the menu. The guy at the register was informative and patient. He described the menu and made me want to eat there. There was a lady in the kitchen who I believe to be the chef or his mom who was very pleasant and very Greeting. Now the sandwich, it was excellent one of the best tuna sandwiches I have ever had in my life 10 out of 10 would recommend. This place is located in a public market setting, but is well worth it."
