Overall thought this was a nice bar with good outdoor seating and food!"

"Absolutely great! Went on a rainy day, and the ambiance felt straight out of a movie. Perfect place to grab a coffee and read a book. However, it did get quite full after a while. We went for breakfast, and one downside: ordering food was a little confusing. They don't have a food menu conveniently placed for you to look at before ordering. We had to wait to reach the cashier to look at the menu at the counter, which held up the line. The wait after ordering wasn't too long, which was nice, and food was brought to our table. We ordered a Cesar Wrap and Chaplin. Both were great and packed with flavor. highly recommend for a nice brunch and cafe spot!"

"I am that kind of person that likes drinking wine, but I am terrible at choosing wines. A big wine list at a restaurant intimidates me and walking into a wine shop like this, with shelves full of wines, has a similar effect. What I liked about The Jug Shop though is that they "curated" a select few of their wines by adding little notes to the shelf. Kind of like you'd find in an independent bookstore, where you would find staff picks with little book reviews. Now, I'm pretty gullible and who know if they just posted notes to the bottles that they wanted to get rid of, but I liked this touch and it helped me zoom in and focus on a few choices. In fact, I even took a picture of the little "review" they'd written and sent it to my my friend who hosted me for dinner that evening and for whom I'd gotten a bottle of wine. This store is a "weird" one in that it looks and feels like a warehouse, yet there is a tasting area set up in the back of it. And browsing through some of the other reviews, I understand that they host serious tastings here and are quite professional at what they're doing...which in turn gives me confidence that the "staff picks" were honest and true. Lastly, I want to mention the Roti Roti truck in the parking lot: what a genius idea to pair this food truck with a wine store! If I weren't headed for dinner, I would've totally picked up a rotisserie chicken that would've certainly gone well with that bottle of wine I'd just picked. In fact, I've worked with the folks from Roti Roti for a company event and their chicken is fantastic."

"Conveniently located inside of the marketplace, you can pick up groceries and meats just around the corner and then stop by here. Plenty of parking options. I stopped by to look at some cheeses last night when I noticed some snacks on a table. Dane let me know that they were hosting a wine tasting -- and it was $10 for 5 pours and some food pairings. It was a few minutes before they were closing, but they were very accommodating. Turns out it was Dane's first wine tasting that he planned -- and he did a very good job. Since it's the weekend of Super Bowl, he had snacks that are typically had during the game and it was unexpected and delicious. He was very knowledgeable and I ended up getting one of the wines, some Marcona almonds, Calvestrano olives and a mustard seed Gouda. I'll be back here for the tastings for sure-- it was fun and affordable."

"Was looking for a place in the east bay that carried an eclectic list of wines and after poking around on Yelp for a bit I found The Wine Mine. Located in a central spot and plenty of parking made this a logical choice, so was pumped to check it out. The wine selection was really fun and interesting with items from all over the globe. The place was fairly well merchandised but, felt a tad empty in areas. Aside from that, I really enjoyed walking around and checking out the selection. Btw, most of the wines are in everyday price points so this place is great for your Tuesday night bangers. I ended up purchasing five bottles that varied from Champagne, Chablis, Lange Nebbiolo, and Pinot from Burgundy. I opened them all last night for a wedding tasting and they were all delightful in their own regard. I'm just glad they were there to purchase!"

"The service was five stars The drinks 5 stars The food was 2 stars. Mismatch opportunities as well as mismatch level of service. Ordered the sidecar drink which was very delicious and my father ordered a beer. He ordered fish and chips and when he asked for tartar sauce they didn't have any. So what's the whole point of fish and chips? I ordered the Snow White Pizza. It was served lukewarm and not fully cooked. You can tell they cooked the dough and the sauce and then added lukewarm toppings on top. Not sure what the white chunky cheese was. This is very basic pub food in general and does not meet the expectations of a higher bar that they provide. This was a mistake coming here for dinner."

"Pizzeria Violetta is one of my sister and brother-in-law's favorite pizza places in Oakland. They introduced my wife and me to this place. My BIL likes to get pizza by the slice here. This is a locally-owned pizzeria.First, I have to mention that the pictures of the pizzas I saw online looked exactly like what we picked up in person. We got two whole pizzas. They were pretty big at 18 inches each. We had the following:* Italian Sausage & Eggplant Chutney Pizza ($35) - pickled onions, roasted peppers, garlic puree, mint-marinated feta cheese, mozzarella* Sweet Little Pig Pizza ($35) - brown sugar candied bacon, artisan pepperoni, fresh basil, cheese blend, organic housemade tomato sauce.My sister was quite excited about the Italian Sausage & Eggplant Chutney Pizza because it was a seasonal special and we were able to get one before the store sold out. Both pizzas were delicious. They were well made with high-quality ingredients, even topping distribution (with lots of toppings), and super-tasty crusts that were charred just right. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. And the pizzas were filling too. These were among the best pizzas my wife and I have had in the Bay Area. She liked the pizzas so much that she said she wished there was a Pizzeria Violetta back home in Atlanta.On the Italian Sausage & Eggplant Chutney Pizza, the pieces of sausage were savory and gratifying -- they really stood out. I loved the pizza's garlicky flavor. The Sweet Little Pig Pizza was like a classic pizza, but amped up in terms of flavor and satisfaction. It was really good. We also got some condiments to go like Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and chili oil.In addition to creative pizzas, Pizzeria Violetta sells Fiorello's artisan gelato from nearby San Rafael as well as a unique variety of beer, wine, and sake. This business replaced another pizza joint, Slicer, in June 2021. The restaurant is located near the north end of Piedmont Avenue. The space is small and clean with limited indoor seating only. There's a six-top in the center and about a dozen counter-height seats along the storefront and wall. I think most customers get takeout. I always order the same thing and the owner always keeps a cold bottle for me on hand. One time I ordered (delivery) and he left a note for me apologizing the wine wasn't cold. He's so sweet. Love the fresh veggie selection, great coffee choices and you can pick up treats from other local business. I always go there to pick up cookies from a local Berkeley business to take home to my Mom. If there is something by chance they don't have they will order it! Love this store and I never go to Safeway anymore. Highly recommended! Ps. They take Apple Pay, Google Pay, all cards AND EBT."

You can order pizza by the slice and they have a veggie pizza for $5.99. Basically, they make it fresh. So, order ahead of time even for a slice. Then go over to the dollar store. Grab a 16 fluid ounce Coca-Cola including 0 cal for $1.25. Put in for a super lotto quick pick because you just saved yourself over a dollar in soda price at the liquor store. The crust was exceptional. I'd come here again. It's a shame that the outdoor seating in the back is not used for café seating as a restaurant. We could use an outdoor seating spot like this as a restaurant café with this good parking. All these new developments happening and this outdoor seating café is underutilized as a liquor store and a pizza place in the back. No seating all pick up and delivery. Hayward city, see if you can talk him into making this a café. Offer them a great deal on grants for upgrading this brick building into something that's more earthquake. Friendly if that's the problem. It's a great addition to the urban scene downtown. Lots of potential! Higher return than the little café at the library. And turn the Lucky into a Trader Joe's!"

Their pre-packaged alcohol packs w/ nifty names adds excitement to your evening.I tried the gangster paradise (hypnotique, peach and pineapple ciroc, and pineapple juice) which came in a cool, labeled ziploc bag. They also give you a cup of ice and a straw to mix them together. Get ready for the buzz of your life!! Not only is the product unique, but in the evenings, the market turns into a makeshift club -disco lights and hip hop. They also sell snacks, I bought a bag of hot Cheetos (together, $17). And there is a taco truck right outside, saved my life. I hope I can come back soon!"

I enjoy most their maple old fashioned but haven't had a bad donut there.They also bake their own croissants, big butter croissants or ones that are stuffed with ham and cheese. With some of their fried stuff, they have these big chicken drumsticks, sometimes heading into work I get a croissant, a chicken drumstick and shred some of the drumstick meat into the croissant for a pretty decent make-shift breakfast sandwich.I work a block away so the main challenge is avoiding having them too often, but it's a good thing that my coworkers help me."

The workers are generally friendly and the front counter accepts everyday tender. My favorite part of the store is the meat market. Bring cash, debit or EBT only. This is not where you go for organic or cage-free or free-range, there's no grass fed or prime cuts, this is chock full of conventional poultry (chicken and turkey), and pork and beef that's generally frozen or nearly frozen. They make low-end sandwiches which have things uncommon to most California delis, like spicy hog head cheese, hot links, liverwurst, and bologna. No frills, but if you need a fix of neck bones, pig feet, or salt pork stop here. They even have meat packages at reduced prices."

"We were touring my friend Josh and Liz's new neighborhood looking for all of the usual necessities and at the top of the list was to peruse the shelves of their closest liquor store. They had an ample wine section and a fairly complete hard liquor stash as well. The 20 oz. beers on display were a bit lacking but we did walk out of there with a new taste sensation.My friend Josh introduced me to my first beer and tomato juice combo. She says that both Dona Tomas and their sister local Tacubaya both serve up a tasty beer/tomato juice concoction. I sampled the La Pinata III version on a recent visit. I love bloody Marys and I love beer. This brings the two together. It is a way of introducing beer acceptably into a breakfast drink. What a concept!Anyway, while combing the shelves at Alameda Cellars we happened upon a tall boy of Chelada brought to you by the good folks at Budweiser. Needless to say, I had to try it. They gave me the required small brown bag so that I could drink it on our walk back to Josh and Liz's new pink palace. The rest of our crew thumbed their noses at our new find but Josh and I enjoyed every last drop of it.For the health conscious, they also offer a Bud Light version. Try it, you will like it, or not."

But now, they leased the grill to what use to Borinquen Soul food truck is now a brick n mortar part of of 2 Star Liquore which is a huge bonus. The liquore/spirits selections are vast! From bottom of the barrel rock gut vodkas such Taka to high end organic Tequila that just baffled the hell out of me lolThey have great tobacco selections, especially if you roll your own cigarette, brands like Peter Stokkebye, they even Swan slim filters.
