"I received a box of vegan cupcakes the day I came home from giving birth to my newborn. Now, these are the only cupcakes I ever think about because they are:1) moist - not oily2) great balance - not too sweet3) delicious, colorful flavors - goodbye boring vanilla and plain chocolate!I'm no longer prisoner of preservative-packed vegan cupcakes from WF or overtly sweet vegan cupcakes from other bakeries! With postpartum brain, I forgot where they came from and had to immediately contact the sender. I googled Angel Cakes Cupcakes and was heartbroken to hear about Jen Angel's passing. RIP to a wonderful and beautiful community organizer, outstanding baker, and one of a kind soul. I hope her legacy and work continues one bite and one march at a time."
"I was craving an almond croissant and found this place on Yelp. The almond croissant only has a sprinkling of almonds on the top! Nothing inside!!! Just tastes like a saltier version of a Costco croissant. Also misshapen as you can see in the photo. Took it home and ate it with cheese as it was salty. Also got a chocolate croissant. This was also high in salt. It took several bites to get to any chocolate. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is that when I finally got to the chocolate, it was nice and creamy not hard chocolate like some. I'm a self admitted croissant snob as it's one of my favorite breads/ pastries. This place was a 'no' for croissants"

"The Best Cupcakes you will ever taste!! Love this place!! Thank you for the incredible and professional customer service!"
"I had high hopes when coming, as I saw this bakery on my Instagram reels. I was met with a line and a bakery that only allows one group at a time. It took awhile until it was my turn, so be prepared to wait. The man that got our items was quite nice. We got the sweet potato, carrot cake, and peach cobbler cheesecake. For the cheesecake, eat it asap or keep it refrigerated, because it WILL melt! We ate our stuff a few hours after purchasing, so it may have affected the original taste but here is what we thought.Note : most of us have a "traditional" Asian palate The carrot cake and sweet potato cake were quite nice, but the sweet potato cake didn't taste like much. The two had quite a lot of frosting which were a little too sweet for us, but the layers of cake were thick which made up for it. The peach cobbler cheesecake was good, and the topping was perfectly seasoned and sweet. The cheesecake crust was also made very nicely.Unfortunately, (with our Asian palates) it was too sweet for us. So if you prefer desserts on the lighter side, I wouldn't recommend. Otherwise, it was a great stop for a reasonable price."
"Best pie in the world. Crust is phenomenal, and the fruit is cooked to perfection. The store's vibe is really cute as well, with nice music and a rustic look. Not sure about all the comments on the service here but food came out fast and portions were great. My dad said this inspired his pie addiction."
"The best French style bakery I have ever been to.The olive bread knot was amazing. It's all good."
"I can't even begin to tell you how depressing it is to come here for a couple slices of pizza alone (the pizza always slaps so I never feel bad about that). It's been relatively lonely since I moved here and I've had pizza more times that I'd like to admit due to the social nature of the dish. But, oh my god was it weird to just bike up, lock up, walk in, order two slices for like $9, then eat it alone on the patio outdoors in sunny norcal with my backpack still on. The staff was so friendly and there were absolutely zero positive vibes emanating from me, not in an emo way, but in a, "man, this dude could use a friend or two-" kind of way.Really hoping I have some company the next time I come back. Would recommend when I'm not so pathetic."
"A cozy cafe in downtown Oakland.Food/Drinks:- Lavender latte: Good. Brew was decent. Lavender flavor was subtle and not too overpowering. Pleasant combination. Service: Good. There a line to place order and several people waiting for their orders as well. Took about 5-10min to order, and then another 10min to get the coffee. I guess this wait is expected in many good cafes, so don't expect a quick grab and go situation.Ambiance/Vibe: Great. Unique industrial factory decor and structural features. Cafe was busy, yet still a quiet place to have a chat or get some work done.Cost/Value: Good. $5 for medium latte. On par with most other coffee shops."
"Always Your Bakery was our dessert caterer for our wedding this year. Before we had decided to go with Natalie, we visited a few bakeries nearby and went to a lot of wedding fairs. We met Natalie during one of the first wedding fairs we went to and was instantly amazed by her desserts, but also how sweet she was. We decided to visit their store front & ordered a bunch of desserts; ube cheesecake, macarons, ube crinkle cookies, cupcakes. They were all seriously delicious! So we booked with her right away. Their cheesecakes are a MUST try, I'm drooling just thinking about it. During the wedding planning process, we went to the cafe quite a few times. The store is super cute, ambiance is relaxing, and the staff always greets you with a smile & happy to help. We also reached out to Natalie multiple times, as our guest list got bigger, and she was more than happy to accommodate us. We shared with her multiple photos for inspo & and what we were envisioning. Every interaction, every correspondence with her has always been super positive & she was always open to every one of our ideas. On our wedding day, desserts were delivered, and omg they were as delicious as they were gorgeous! Our guests loved them so much, my husband and I barely had any. Luckily, I reached out prior & ordered our own private stash in case this happened, I'm so glad I did lol. The macarons were so yummy, we had multiple flavors and they were all so good. They were the hit of the night. The tiramisu cups was another crowd favorite. I didn't even get to taste any, but I heard from guests how obsessed they were with it. The cupcakes were almost too pretty to eat, but they disappeared just as fast. The ube crinkle cookies (and my personal favorite) were BOMB - so soft, so chewy, i can actually taste the ube. Not many places can say that. They'll call it an ube cookie, but it's really just purple. This cookie though is actually *ube* flavor. As much as we love Peter's Bakery in San Jose and Susie's cakes - this tops them both. Each one of their treats is moist, full of flavor, not overly sweet, and just so dang beautiful to look at. We had a Susie's Cake cupcake the other day, and although it was good, it tasted a bit dry to us. The difference is wild after we've been spoiling ourselves with Always Yours Bakery. I can confidently say, this is my favorite bakery hands down. The quality of every single item on their menu and friendliness of the staff and Natalie herself, is well worth it. We can't wait to come back already."
"We had their Black Forest pastry which is yum, however $13 is too expensive for a small slice."
"Maybe located in an interesting area but this shop does NOT miss. This has been my go to place for the past few years to pick up cupcakes, grocery store ones weren't hitting anymore.Customer service is GREAT.Everyone here is very nice. Including the owner(?). I have been here many times and never felt received a hint of attitude or uneasiness. They are welcoming and open to explaining the flavors available. However, I don't understand the tip system for putting the cupcakes in a box but that's not important here.Everyone loves the variety of flavors and quality of cupcakes!Tiramisu, NY cheesecake, carrot, etc. This place has so many different kinds that I can't help but purchase at least a dozen, two if there are flavors that pique my interest. The frosting is delicious, the cupcakes aren't stale or too moist, the perfect amount to hold shape and the frosting on top. They also sell cake pops, banana pudding(?), and slices of cake. They may do custom orders but I feel I have a great experience perusing the different options on display that I don't need to place an order ahead of time.Overall, love this place. Will be my main cupcake shop indefinitely."
"Overpriced insanity I ordered an everything bagel with bacon and cream cheese. I was charged $1 to toast the bagel (which was the start of the insanity.) I was handed a cold bagel barely toasted (it was barely warm) and ONE SINGLE piece of bacon. I paid $9.45 for absolute nonsense and I'm furious. I won't ever be back."

I ordered cupcakes and a smash cake for my daughter's first birthday from Angel Cakes. I appreciate them patiently working with me and listening to my ideas to make my vision a reality. My daughter's narwhal smash cake was so beautiful, more beautiful than the inspiration photos I sent! I was impressed! The rainbow colored cupcakes were perfect for our theme. The guests LOVED the cupcakes and asked where we got them. Unfortunately, I didn't get a great pic of the cake while it was intact :-(. So I will just share a pic of the cupcakes. Thank you Angel Cakes for the delicious cupcakes and gorgeous cake, and amazing customer service.

For Christmas my friend bought my family and I this fruit tart.Yes, it looks like any other fruit tart, but wow, it didn't even last 24 hours. We demolished it. Did I mention I'm super picky about crust and custard? Well, this fruit tart knocked it out of the park!Perfect crust, amazing flavor, and once again it didn't even last 24 hours because we ate it all.The fruit was fresh too, just so you know. This should be a holiday tradition, eating a yummy fruit tart for the holidays!5 stars delicious!

I love cupcakin bake shop, my favorite cupcake shop since the day they opened on telegraph. I used to come here for a quick sweet treat when I went to school at Cal, and my favorites were always the key lime pie and red velvet. The cakes were always so moist and not too sweet, pairing so well with the buttercream frosting. For the first time this past weekend, I tried ordering their full sized cakes for a friend's birthday. I got a custom cake (the heart shaped one with lots of piping) since I've seen these type of cake decorations on instagram and tiktok a lot. When I got to the store to pick up, the cake was ready for me and it was an extremely fast exchange. However keep in mind that the cake is going to be too tall for the box so you can't close the lid all the way or else the frosting will get squished -- so keep that in mind!! When you're transporting it make sure the lid is still popped open slightly. Other than that the cake was super cute and delicious, and I would buy more cakes from here in the future.

Truly is Oakland's best kept secret. You may walk right past this delicious bakery as it is located behind a gate, down some stairs, and behind another door. Recently it has been growing in popularity so there may be a line, especially on weekends. They only allow one party in at a time, and it's like walking into your own personal bakery closet ha! Small, cute, and clean. The staff is friendly and efficient. The key lime is delicious though I personally like mine with a touch more lime. The cheesecake is phenomenal. They also do to go orders way past the time their store front closes.

The fact that they are named after "crixa", a fictional word from Richard Adams - Watership Down should say it all. This bakery has a lot of hype and I think it is all deserved. Their pumpkin pie has been described as the best in the Bay Area. I'll add it's the best I've had in my life. Full of flavor with subtle sweetness. Light crust. Perfect texture to the filling. The Pavé Vergiate or Flourless chocolate cake is without comparison. It packs a delicious punch but somehow remains very light, fluffy, and nuanced in flavor. A huge hit!

Love this cozy cute warm bakery. I bought 10 caneles and I'm so glad that I did! It's crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The Paris Breast is another item that you must try. It looks sweet, but it's not. The cream is smooth and light. The crust is perfect contrast to the cream. The lemon shortbread is not what I used to have. We believe there's corn bread grains in it, and not much lemon flavor. Very unique. With all the sweet goodies, of course I had to buy some savory treats. I wish I bought more of the egg & ham, it's a meal by itself. Whole egg that was wrapped with a slice of ham, backed in a croiffin shell, it'll definitely give you enough energy to start the day. I wish I tried the bread but I already spent more than anyone in the line, so maybe next time.

I want to love this place. On appearances alone it shows promise. The kitchen is modern and clean with fancy Swedish ovens and sacks of all natural flour waiting to be turned into bready goodness. The staff are friendly and helpful but the thing that lets it down is the bread and I feel that if you're a bakery, you should be nailing that. I've tried multiple different bready products here and they are all without exception overworked and stodgy with a very poor crumb structure. It's like there's a fundamental issue with their bread recipes and that plays out in the end product. Take for example, the brioche knot. Brioche should be light as a feather resplendent with an abundance of eggs and butter but what you get here is a dense, almost chewy bread roll studded with fruit. The flavor is ok but the texture is not even remotely brioche like. The cookie brittle is decent and the coffee is excellent but y'all, you gotta work on your bread.

Tierra Mia is my go to meeting spot for friends and such. I love their location- parking is usually a breeze and in a very walkable central part of downtown Oakland. Their horchata latte is my go to but their teas are a hit too! I'm not too much of a coffee drinker so I can't give a review there. Always love their fire playlists (reggeaton/Bad Bunny the last few times I've been there). Great vibe overall!

"Great cookies! Loved the gingerbread, good spice and chewy. Definitely on the pricier side."
"This is my fav cupcake spot!I love the decadent cupcakes with a variety to meet any palettes selection! It's black owned too with a few different locations. I recommend coming early to get them fresh before the sell out or preorder(for an up charge)"
"When my dad said he wanted apple pie for his birthday this year, I knew I had to check out Niles Pie Company. I had already been introduced to their blueberry crumble at my friend's house so I knew I would be in for a treat. When I got there on Saturday morning, the only "apple" pie that they had was a 6 inch caramel apple. Since it was a little over a week post Thanksgiving, they were still ramping up their pie production. They did however have a frozen classic apple pie that I could bake at home. In the end, I decided on three 6-inch pies: caramel apple, classic apple, and the blueberry crumble. All three were outstanding...my brother in law who typically does not eat sweets really enjoyed the blueberry crumble. He found it not overly sweet which we all agreed. My dad enjoyed both the caramel and the classic apple but surprisingly the classic was probably mine and my husband's favorite. I wasn't sure how the frozen pie was going to bake off in my humble home oven but it worked out fine. My oven though must run a little low because it did take longer than the instructions. Since it was my first visit, I also got a free cookie. If you are in the area, this is worth the visit. They have other bakery items and empanadas if you are not in the mood for pie. I had the ham and swiss empanada for breakfast and it was delicious. The Niles Pie Company operates under a co-op model. It is clear they take great care and pride in their work and it shows in their baked goods."
"Ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant, and it was solid. Hit the spot, it was made perfectly. Great customer service, I was greeted as soon as I walked in. Definitely my new breakfast spot."
"Ordered a cake 3 days ahead and got a confirmation email. Arrived day/time of pick up, only to be told the cake was never made and not in season. They offered to pick something else, however I ordered a specific cake and now it's too late to order from a different bakery. I had no choice but to pick a cake that was leftover end of day."
"This is my favorite brunch spot in Oakland! The shrimp and grits are amazing and is my favorite item on the menu. The biscuits and gravy are another great option. Be sure to try the muffins, donuts, and other pastries. They are a great dessert option after a scrumptious brunch! Staff is super friendly and cares very much about our appetite and satisfaction! Great outdoor seating available."
"3.5 stars, but I rounded up to 4 because I appreciated the ample parking and the relaxing atmosphere. I met up with my friend at Denica's for lunch on a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded. The line was relatively short and went by fast. There were plenty of tables available for us after we ordered, which was great! We ordered the 1) Ube Stuffed French Toast and 2) Kalua Pork Hash. Personally, for me, the ube stuffed french toast was a a tad too sweet for me, but did have the expected ube flavor. If you don't have the biggest sweet tooth, I would definitely recommend having the sauce on the side. The Kalua pork hash was very filling and the pork was tender and had a good bite. Overall, Denica's has solid food, but personally for me, it's not amazing. However, it's a nice location for a quick brunch with plenty of parking outside!"
"A friend and her husband took me there after she and I climbed at Pacific Pipe. I had the pesto chicken sandwich and it was delicious. It was also huge so I was able to take half home for dinner. She had their beef brisket sandwich that looked very good. He had a bowl of soup which he thoroughly enjoyed and he also had half her sandwich.I got an Americano Turkish coffee, chocolate pistachio baklava and a sesame cookie for dessert. The chocolate baklava wasn't quite as chocolate as I would have liked but it was still very good. The coffee was perfect.I will definitely return."
"I'm so glad to have stumbled back to this bakery after it was closed/sold. I heard it was open and wanted to pick up a cake for an occasion. I peek in the refrigerator and saw a really cute custom cake! My eyes lit up and I asked how do I order something like this. Evonne stepped up and greeted me, said to just text her and send inspos! I'm so glad there happened to be a custom cake in the refrigerator at the time or else I'll never know! I've already ordered a few custom cakes from her and I know I'll be back for more! Everyone loves her cakes and compliments how it's not too sweet and tastes just right! I cannot wait to place another order!!"
"Although the slice of cake is little and wasn't that tasty, but it was good and the raspberry on top looked to be a few days old. I think the slice of cake is overpriced. They should make the slice bigger at least. However, the other two with the bacon and the coconut in the center was delicious fresh and worth the price. I go to 85° at least a couple times a week and they have very good pastries. It's just the slice of cake let me down."
"Just bit into their kanelbullar-- the cardamom was generous and perfect to go along with organic earl grey. Another robust roll is their chocolate babka--- very nice balance there too.Perennial face: croissant au buerre"
"We ordered Samosa Chaat and it had Amazing Taste with Fresh Chutney ... We will definitely try other chaat items next time !!"
"Cookies are delicious. Very quick in and out. The place is very bright just enough room for two checkoutsand counter. They may have been doing some training the day I was there. I was not greeted when I came in the door, but after my order was placed, the lady was very friendly maybe because I left a tip."
"Wow !! Their cakes are always so fresh !! One of the nicest bakery in Fremont. They have a variety or breads and snacks, but I mostly go for their cakes. They generally dont keep cakes ready, but prepare fresh for you in 15 mins. Their mousse is melt in mouth. Sponge so soft and fresh. We always enjoy their chocolate and Mango mousse cake. They staff is always nice and friendly.I ordered a special cake for my Sister's baby shower and that turned out perfect. Would always recommend their cakes."
"Celebrating both my and my girlfriend's birthday together. She's on the 11th and I'm on the 22nd. I'm not going to lie. The first time I came here I thought they were a little expensive for a cupcake but now on my 2nd visit they are most definitely worth it. Interesting flavor combinations but the the key to their cupcakes is the detail. The icing is flavored often but what's important is that it's not overbearing. Details: they had a Key Lime Pie and the detail that set it up was the crumble crust on the bottom. I love stuff like that. Creative Flavors: Passionfruit Bourbon. I wept. Flavors change often so when you get there you can find out or call. These desserts are very light and never feel heavy.Warrants going all out and getting a sugar high on these cupcakes.Go!"
"Last minute ordered a birthday red velvet cake they had an 6-8 inch $40. Pricier side but it was good. Charged extra $1 for writing and extra $1 for sprinkle. Will order again."
"Cookies yes, yes and more Yes's please! These cookies although many try to claim are overrated are definitely delicious. They melt in your mouth and leave you wanting more. My family and I like to order the 6 pack box and get one of each that we all love. My favorite being their classic pink sugar however that was before I knew when you ordered the chocolate chip they service it to you warm! That right there is genius! We were literally fighting over the chocolate chip which is an overall classic fav. The stores are small but welcoming offering really great photo ops! I really enjoy the atmosphere of their stores just so cute like every pink lovers dream!"
"My dad is a newfound fan of Tous Les Jours and wanted to take my companion and me. After an eventful afternoon, we ended our day together grabbing pastries here. I found it to be decent in taste but not memorable. Tours Les Jours is a chain bakery serving French-Asian pastries. The cafe reminds me of other chain bakeries such as 85°, Paris Baguette, and Sheng Kee. This location is bright and clean. The items available vary as some were well stocked while others were not. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside there are several tables for pairs or small groups. We opted to sit outside since we had my puppy. I found the service to be a bit aloof. The worker helping me didn't quite register my order or know what to do. Another worker swooped efficiently and had my drink out in a pinch. Overall, ordering should be straightforward--pick your items then go to the register and pay. There are both pastry and drink options, as well as cakes. For my Dad, I got him a Garlic Sausage Block, Elotes Pastry, Almond Croissant, and Red Bean Donut. Companion got us a Croissant and Kimchi Croquette. We split those and I found the croissant to be buttery but not too flaky or fresh. Better than other chain places though. The kimchi croquette was spicy, and savory, and reminded us of a Chinese stir fry in a fried dough. I also got an Iced Ube Latte with Soy Milk to drink. This drink and others were listed under the tea section but there's no caffeine, which might be misleading to some. I could taste the ube and it was a good drink. I'm not sure if I'd order these items again, but glad we could try them!Craving a quick drinks or pastry? Tous Les Jours can satisfy that. Expect chain bakery quality and pricing, but with a fun variety. The bakery is easy to spot on the corner in Arroyo Park Shopping Center with lots of free parking."
"We had 43 & Company cater our desserts for our wedding and it blew us away! From our first communication email with LikLing, we knew we would be in good hands. We opted for 6 different desserts (cream puffs, panna cotta, creme brulee, fruit tarts, cupcakes) and all our guests praised how moist and delicious everything was! Nothing was to sweet, nothing was dry, and everything tasted fresh. The pricing is very reasonable and they even offered to deliver and set-up our dessert table for our wedding. The team showed up on time, set everything up perfectly, and left our guests speechless! If you are looking for dessert catering for any event, do yourself a favor and inquire with 43&. You will not be disappointed!"
"Yummy bakeries. Reasonable price. Hard to find a great place like this anywhere anymore."
"Mom's Homemade Bread was on my radar because David N posted all the goodies offered by this business...mochi, Chocolate haupia pie and of course, a Crunch Cake! Celebrating my sister's and brother-in-laws birthday decided to place an order for all the items above....ordering online was straightforward and simple with a mutual pickup spot from the Castro Valley BART station. Since I'm not a big fan of mochi or chocolate pie (I know, I know it's a texture thing) I can't fairly give a rating but guests really enjoyed these items. The Coffee Crunch Cake was delicious but have to say I have my favorite spots...the cake texture was more bouncy like an Asian-sponge cake with smaller crunch bits...not overly sweet with a nice balance.Reasonably priced, friendly customer service with a taste of Hawaii close to home. Support this small, local business, Mom's Homemade Bread for your next event"
"The dessert and service were excellent! I highly recommend this place & the red velvet & sweet potato."
"This is the best banh mi bread around. My mother is a Vietnamese war refugee who landed in the Midwest during the late 1970's. For over 40 years, she had not tasted traditional banh mi bread. My parents fortunately relocated to the Bay Area after my sister and I established careers here. After I discovered Bui Phong, I knew I had to share this bread with my mom. Now, whenever I have a chance, I pick up baguettes and/or rolls for my mom so she can make banh mi and have it on the side of her curry at home. I can see her light up whenever I bring her this bread, and it warms my heart to be able to bring an authentic taste of Vietnam back into her life. Keep up the great work, Bui Phong Bakery!"
