"My brother introduced me this place when I was recently in town visiting. We came for a late lunch after an Oakland A's game (the last one at the Coliseum). And it's clear that this is a local gem. I had the ceviche tostada and the carnitas loaded nachos. Well, I probably should have stopped at the tostada which is a huge portion and could be shared for 2. It was fresh, really good. I liked the carnitas nachos, but I think I was already so full from the ceviche that I couldn't full appreciate the nachos.The unlimited Horchata was also awesome!! Will come back when I'm back in town!"

"I've been looking for some good hot cakes. Welp I found them. When I arrived to the restaurant I was greeted with a smile and I received my order promptly. Usually breakfast spots give you one bite of eggs. Not MoMo's the portions are on point, AND EVERYTHING WAS GOOD!!!"

"We came here on a Friday evening for dinner. There was free parking attached to the restaurant which was convenient in downtown Hayward. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, so we were able to get seated and order food quite quickly.I got the ala carte chile relleno for ~$6.95. The batter is quite eggy which is different from other chile rellenos that I've had, but it still tasted pretty good. The chili is stuffed with cheese which went well with the sauce.Meanwhile, my friend got the $4.95 cheese quesadilla chicas. It was a simple crispy quesadilla that's filled with melted cheese and topped with bits of salsa and guac. This was actually quite a good deal if you want something tasty but not too big."

"GENERAL VS REGIONALI found this place by accident as I drove to eat at another eatery close by. After my meal at the other eatery I wanted to come to Los Carnalitos to give this place a try. When I entered Los Carnalitos I noticed the items on the menu were different from any Mexican eatery I ate before (later I discovered the food specializes in cuisine of Mexico City). What kind of items should I order? I came with intent to order items that did not have picture on the menu for delivery. I wanted to try something new.The first time I came here was the last Saturday of March. I ordered the gorditas that had a picture on the menu. Also I ordered the quesadilla de azteca, which didn't have a picture on the delivery menu. When you don't have a picture in mind what an item looks you don't have a premonition what the item will taste like. The gordita was tasty, but the quesadilla de azteca was better of the two dishes. My experiences with quesadillas are they have grilled marks with melted cheese. The quesadilla de azteca was the first time I ate this style as the cheese were crumbled.The second time I ate tostadas de pata and huarache con costilla. These items had no pictures from the delivery that's why ordered them. I like the tostada. The pata (beef tendons) had that slimy texture, but I never found it offputting as the lettuce and cheese contrasted that texture. By far the haurach con constilla was the tastiest of the two dishes. The beef short ribs on the haurache con constilla rivals with other beef short ribs I ate at a Korean or Hawaiian eatery. The third time I came here I ordered the tostada tinga de res and pambazo de chicharrón. The beef on the tostada was ok. The pambazo is like torta except the bread is marinated. Even though the bread was marinated it was crispy. That was an unexpected texture. The pambazo I ate at Los Carnalitos is better than any tortas I ate. The next time I came here I ordered the torta because I heard this place is known for their tortas. I ordered the salchica torta as I never expected turkey sausage was part of Mexican cuisine. The torta is tasty, but it pales in comparison to the pombazo because the marinated, grilled bread is more flavorful than a regular grilled bread. One other item I ordered was the churros. I've had churros at stadiums or other eateries where the quality of the churros was stale. The churros at Los Carnalitos are probably the best I've had at a restaurant. The portion is big while the churros are crunchy and moist. The drizzle of the sweet, condensed milk brings additional flavor to the churrosThe last time I came here I ordered two items I had in the past I liked: pombazo and churros. The pombazo I ordered this time was the traditional, which included chorizos. Overall Los Carnalitos Restaurant opened my palette to Mexican cuisine. Los Carnalitos Restaurant specializes food from the Mexico City. Most of the Mexican restaurants I ate at didn't focus on a regional cuisine but a general food of Mexico. Trying something new doesn't have to be adventurous but have an open mind. The best items I ate at Los Carnalitos were the quesadilla de azteca, haurache con constilla, pambozo, and churros. If I crave for a regional cuisine of Mexican food I would go back to Los Carnalitos Restaurant."

"Our first time here. Such great food, great hospitality, and excellent service! Not as crowded or rushed as some of the other breakfast places in Fremont (where it feels like they're just trying to cram as many people in a space as they can). We didn't feel rushed to want to finish and leave. Our server was so friendly and helpful. The place feels like a friendly family run establishment. We can't wait to come back!"

"Ok... so I've been coming to Taqueria Extra for some years now and they have become one of my favorite Mexican food spots. I only have 2 favorites.There's something that stands out about the chorizo. I usually get if I order a breakfast burrito or if I order a crispy taco (you gotta add sour cream to take it to the next level).Good selection in their salsa bar. I love their pico. I've even ordered the large containers for parties.Service- friendly. Even when calling in phone/pick up orders. My last order from them was menudo.WOWI love menudo and theirs blew me away. The broth had so much flavor. The amount of tripe that was given was very generous. Soup to tripe ratio- perfect. I ordered this to go and the broth was still hot, hot when I got home. THAT is how you're supposed to serve soup!"

"These were some of the best birria tacos I've ever had! The meat was marinated really well and the consome was nice and rich. The service was great because I arrived a couple minutes before they were closing which I didn't realize but they still were willing to take my order. I'm not sure if there's usually any seating outside since we came around closing time but at this place you walk up to a window to order and then wait for your food outside. I'm glad I gave this place a try and will definitely come back so I can try other items on the menu."

"I introduced my friends to Rosy's when they wanted to take me out for my birthday. I tried the Chile Verde Omelet with extra crispy hash browns and English muffins and it was great. One of my friends ordered the Chicken Fajita Omelet with the same sides and she told Jaimie, our waitress, and owner's daughter, that it was one of her best breakfasts. Another friend enjoyed her Strawberry/Banana smoothie and another enjoyed her Huevos la Mexicana, though she wished she ordered the hashbrowns instead of "home fries" since they were kind of plain. I enjoy potatoes like that if they add onion and green peppers. We enjoyed our coffees with refills. The prices have gone up but so have all the other restaurants and this in comparison seems reasonable."

"Really amazing platanos (plantains) and excellent tacos de papa (potato tacos). You can order the platanos as a side or a dish with black beans (and sour cream). When I'm in Berkeley, I try to at least stop off for side of platanos. Many Mexican restaurants are getting on-board the potato taco train, and I couldn't be happier. Fried hard shell with a mash of potatoes inside and cabbage, crema and pico de gallo on top. Yummmmm!Once you order, there are a good number of spots inside. If it's nice out, there's plenty of outdoor seating. They bring your food to the table once it's ready."

"This place is always packed! Love how they updated it with a mural painted on the wall. The service is good. Food comes out as quickly as they can which means, for really good pupusas, you're going to have to be patient. The pupusas are always so delicious! The Salvadoran tamales are flavorful and amazing! My son decided to try the pupusas locas!!! It's HUGE!!! And it's so good. I love this place!"

"I absolutely love this place! We've been to Los gallos about 12-15 times since last year! Me and hubby was on hunt for a permeant taqueria place since our reg place sold to a diff owner and wasn't executing the same quality of food but WE FOUND Los Gallos! Staff is always welcoming and level of professionalism with all guests that eat there! I love their salsa bar! 4 diff salsas, plus pico de gallo and their jalapeño, carrot, potato mix is my personal fav! Meat has tasted fresh each time! They don't hold back at all so be ready to receive loaded tacos!! You get complimentary chips while dinning in! Interior seems clean, I don't trash laying around, you get food served by their kitchens staff. Like I mentioned earlier this is OUR taqueria now so I'll be going there with my fam few times a month."

"In April 2016, one of my peers and I signed up for a self-dense class conducted in-person by Channing Way. We met at the building for the morning session, then decided to find a nearby place to eat on our lunch break before returning. As the course required physical exertion, we figured we needed something relatively light that was also filling and would not take too long to get. We settled on food from Tacos Sinaloa, arriving a little off of peak lunch time rush.Placing our orders was straightforward and we were able to find a few spots to eat at a counter. The tacos were available for purchase per taco. I went with three total spanning three meat options and semi-heaped on the pickled carrots. It was a satisfying amount of food for me. Flavors were moderate in intensity and not spicy. Workers were tuned in and the wait time was relatively short."

"If you want deliciously satisfying and authentic Mexican food then The Mexican is where you want to be. My family has been coming here for years and no matter what you order from the menu the food is beyond expectation. This time I even ordered the grilled chicken taco salad and loved it! I had some concern before getting my dish bc I didn't know if it would be bland or boring (side note: I typically I don't order a salad at a Mexican restaurant (like come on) but I wanted something light bc my stomach wasn't feeling great the night before). The salad was so filling and so colorful -- I was impressed. My belly thanked me for choosing the safer choice. The service was great and our group was consistently checked on. Not to mention the amount of space we had to catch up and share stories was perfect (we were not competing against loud noise). Anytime I'm in the east bay and crave Mexican food, I'll be here. What's not to love?"

"Tacos El Tucan opened where Pup Hut was. Specialty-Tijuana-style tacos. Outside seating only. Offerings: tacos, burritos, mulitas, quesadillas, quesatacos, aqua fresca, nachos, bowls, plates. Tortillas house made. Same with tomato based medium salsa.Drill: order at right window, pay, pick up food at left window when # is called. 10ish minutes..Bites: barria mulita (4.95)- schredded juicy beef between 2 corn tortillas with melty cheese, jalepenos, onion, cilantro..Yum!Shrimp taco(3.25)-5 medium grilled juicy shrimp smothered with orange crema mixed with cabbage, cilantro..deliz!Asada taco (3.25)-grilled juicy steak pieces topped with guacamole, mixed with cilantro, lettuce, onions. Delightful!Adobada taco (3.25) al pastor, -marinated pork topped with whitish crema. Mixed with lettuce, cilantro, white onions. Happily stuffed-4.5 stars took me awhile to eat it all. Had tears in my right eye. Not cuz it was so good but cuz a blister on my tongue tip made it difficult to eat. Food got cold before i ate it all. *free parking in lot behind eatery"

"3.5 Stars for food and service. My only problem was the bathroom.We ordered the steak and chicken burritos. The steak was pleasantly tender and juicy. The chicken was dry and didn't have much flavor. These are "gourmet" burritos so no refried beans here folks (love my refried though lol). However the black beans and rice inside our burritos was really good and married nicely together. You can add sour cream/cheese for an extra $1 (approx). We did because we like that. The burritos had a little lettuce and tomato that wasn't soggy even after reheating 20 mins in a 350 degree oven! We both added lots of sauces to achieve the desired flavor and heat. Next time we plan to try the prawn burrito. Nice guy working the counter. Its a small place with maybe 6 tables, and sits just off Solano on San Pablo Ave. It's nestled between a couple of slightly larger businesses and you will miss it if you drive too fast. There is a plastic tent on the sidewalk to help guide you. See pic attached.The bathroom needs a lot of attention but nothing a good wall wash and coat of paint can't fix. The soap dispenser was low on soap but not empty. After going in there I was afraid to eat the food (germaphobe) but we didn't get sick or have digestive problems lol. So yeah we'll go again. Hopefully that problem won't exist next time."

"This review is on the brunch buffet:) Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, they have all kinds of moles, pipian, chilaquiles, fresh tortillas, cafe de olla, fresh fruit, rice and beans , menudo and pozole to chose from for about $35 per person plus tip. You can seat inside or outside and the employees are very pleasant and hard workers, they kept on checking on us, cleaning and refilling the buffet. For an extra fee they have micheladas. The restaurant gets pretty busy however they try to find you a table quick. They have parking right outside. Definitely will come back"

"So filling for late night tacos!After doing some shopping around Bay Street, my friend and I were looking for something quick and nearby. Glad we found Los Cantaros!It was easy to find parking on the street on a Tuesday evening. The parking immediately in front of the store is for 1 hour only.We ordered 4 tacos (chicken, al pastor, and carne asada) and a plate of super nachos (chicken). Lucky for us, it was taco Tuesday and they take off $1 each taco. The tacos then were about $2. By themselves, they weren't super filling but the nachos took care of it. They were truly loaded with beans, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. AND they add those fillings in layers so you're not just getting the extras on the top, leaving you with dry chips on the bottom.Def check this spot out if you're craving tacos or nachos in the area."

"Great old school Mexican food place. This place has survived and thrived no matter what. Great portions and prices. Staff is always happy and nice.The tacos are my fave and tortas. I like the asada tacos and tortas de milanesa. The agua frescas vary and today the agua de fresa (strawberry) was amazing. The agua de horchata is another fave.Parking can get tough but be patient. Dinner is usually calmer than lunch time. Lots of seating and options. You can also call ahead and pick up."

"Dona is my go to spot for a quick and easy lunch. Their meals are solid, and I often go for their bowls and burritos. I love that their bowl includes guacamole as well. The food can often be ready within a few minutes, which is helpful for grab and go. With regards to proteins, I often choose their barbacoa or carnitas. I sometimes try the fried fish as well if I can dine there (so it doesn't get soggy). Their portions are pretty hefty which is great as well. The flavors are decent, nothing stellar but definitely satisfies the craving when needed."

"I think hands down my favorite spot currently in Berkeley. Afghan Burrito will always have a special place in my heart because I first started coming here while pregnant and then continued to come here with baby in tow for a full circle moment. Still.my.favorite.spot.The family-owned feels, wonderful people and staff, the beautiful space (both indoor and outdoor), and the flavor explosions of this incredibly special food that is described "where traditional Afghan spices meet the boldness of Mexican cuisine"...seriously craving it right now as I type this! The Secret Golden Sauce I could literally have on anything and everything.My husband usually gets the Golden Burrito ~ you can get it rolled the traditional way or the Afghan way (fried tortilla, served open). This burrito is massive and packed with your choice of protein, beans, rice, shredded cheese, sour cream, lettuce, pico, golden sauce, and for no additional charge you can add hot sauce, nacho cheese, fajitas, corn, pickled veggies. I usually opt for the chicken burrito bowl, which is also such great value and portion size. A newer menu item we always split is the Golden Crunch Wrap with fried chicken...honestly, one of the best East Bay menu items. Don't sleep on this! I also noticed their menu now offers tacos, loaded fries and nachos, quesadillas, sides, and a kids menu.The Iced Karak Chai is also a game changer if you need an extra pep in your step..I mean there is truly nothing I don't absolutely love about this spot. Metered parking can be tricky on San Pablo Ave, but sometimes you hit the jackpot with open spots in front of the restaurant..those are the best days :)Ask for a variety of their additional sauces and lastly, you can now order ahead through the website or through the Yelp app for pickup pretty true to time. Looking forward to my next meal here!"

"This is my favorite burrito in the world.Let me start by saying that I try to travel all over the Mexican world--there is no other name for this geographical region, that spans from East Texas to Northern California to Chiapas. New Spain? I have favorite food items and restaurants in amazing meccas like Mexico City, Santa Fe, Los Angeles, Sonoma. While La Burrita is casual in ambience, the food is stellar.The boiled chicken wins (Take that, Claude Levi-Strauss!). Moist and almost earthy in flavor, it pairs perfectly with the plum pinto beans and the pillowy tortilla (you may need to read my other posts, which are beginning to spell out a burrito typology). But the jalapeno salsa is simply the best I have ever had, rivaled by a mole I once consumed in Oaxaca City. Tart and spicy, the salsa acts as the perfect counterpoint to the warm and welcoming home flavors of the wrap.Other things I like about this place are the ability for the customer to order different sizes of burrito with different levels of decadence and different prices.This is my 30th anniversary of visiting La Burrita...and some of the employees have been working there as long as I have been eating there. "After a photo walk in Point Richmond, the group met here for lunch. On my 1st visit, I wasn't as hungry as I was when I returned for a 2nd time. My friends had a torta, chips and a cocktail. I only ordered Esquite. This delicious Mexican street food is corn topped with queso cotija, chili powder, and their homemade mayo dressing. I like it so much that I wanted to go back and have it again.It was my turn to pick a restaurant for a monthly lunch with Toni and Lori. This was my chance to go again and share this spot with friends. Lori was not able to attend. I met Toni at the restaurant. You can enter the building by the stairs or a ramp. There is a covered patio for outside dining on the side of the building. Parking in sleepy Point Richmond can be difficult; Masa does have a small parking lot.On my 2nd visit, I had ceviche with a mix of shrimp and fish. Toni and I share an order of Esquite and a cookie. We did not finish the corn, I took it home. I felt a bit guilty not splitting the leftovers but not guilty enough to say no. We also share an alfajores cookie. The ceviche was tasty. I liked it because it wasn't too citrusy. Both times I had I had a tamarind soda in a bottle.When I saw the torta, chips, and cocktail on my first visit, and then the Quesabirra on my second visit, I will be back again to try them."

"Today is Mexican Independence Day. Before heading to Crown Bay Nursing and Rehab Center, I decided to stop in at Calafia. The sandwich board's special (right outside the entrance) listed 3 tamales for $9.95. Okay, I can go for that deal.It has been many years since I had their pork tamales. It used to cost 3 for $6.00. That was when they first opened about 20 years ago.I always enjoy their fish tacos, but at $5.25 each, I decided to forgo the fish tacos at this time. I do miss the barrels of the agua frescas. Yet they still have the Jamaica and horchata in the refrigerator. The salsa bar is still there, which is a good thing. My husband always order the carne asada super burrito, which is enough to feed the both of us. Most of the time we order the food to go since we don't live too far from Calafia.Today they were busy taking care of customers who arrived before I did. The wait wasn't that long. I got my order about a minute before the #20 AC bus arrived. Perfect timing.Calafia is one of the Mexican restaurants I patronize in town."

"This is Taqueria Los Pericos #5, located in San Leandro Plaza, not to be confused with Taqueria Los Pericos, located in nearby Pelton Plaza!! It's probably a 5 minute walk between the two places!So, obviously, the food in these 2 places taste pretty much alike. But this place is smaller, and when I've been, a little less busy. And I do think the service here is a little better also.I ordered a taco salad with shrimp, and I got my complimentary chips and salsa from the salsa bar.They put a decent amount of shrimp in my salad, and with the taco crust being my bowl, it was good and filling.This place has a real nice ambiance, with good artwork on the walls.I've been here a few times and the food is always good!!"

"It's that time of year. The time when one must start doing more than just checking in and posting photos and lurking Talk and meaning to write reviews bc if one keeps this up it will be Christmas and that shiny Elite badge will have retreated to an unreachable place.There are no shortage of places I've been meaning to share. So I shall begin here.First, I had no idea these guys were related to Nick's. None. Second, I only started visiting here after Pico Paco left. I loved Pico Paco and it was but a block away and the mom and pop that ran it were swell so me being a creature of habits never ventured further. Then Pico Paco closed and I was all what now. Off here I went. And. If Pico Paco were still around I'd have to have more than one burrito a week and I would become a snowman bc La Calaca Loca so delicious that I'd have to go to both. But now I don't. All I've had are their burritos and sometimes a nacho. The burritos are super good and super generous with the fillings. What makes this always worth the visit, over and above the yummy vittles, are the folks feeding you and the folks taking care of business at the register. They can turn even the hardest frown upside down. Gracious, welcoming, pretty. Senor Guapo is outnumbered most of the time but he doesn't seem to mind.If you're over Temescal way give them a visit."

"On our way back for another order! They make the best caldo de pollo in Oakland; the broth is truly outstanding and long simmering with so much flavor. I love that they give you bone-in chicken with it. Gonna try the pozole and fried tacos, next. The street tacos are incredible, too. Their carne is grilled so has a ton of flavor."

"Our 19th hole was here yesterday. It was plan B as plan A across the street appeared boarded up. How to order - the order counter is in the back. Read the menu posted above and place your order & pay. We got comp tortilla chips with a green and a red dip. Also went with water that we dispensed ourselves. Our orders were walked over to our table. Flatware is get it yourself. Hubby and I both had the carne asada taco salad. There was ample amount of carne asada with a good balance of guacamole, salsa, beans, sour cream, cheese, chopped lettuce in a crispy shell. Our other friends ordered burritos. Food prices have gone up everywhere so we weren't surprised - our taco salad was $16. The super burrito was $17. Service was quick."

"Tacos El Gordo in Oakland is a legit hotspot! Yeah, the area's a bit iffy, so park smart. The wait? Sometimes long, but totally worth it for those late-night cravings. Horchata's on point, and all the ingredients? Fresh as can be. Hits the spot every time. Solid 4 stars, no doubt. Keep it up!"

"Now let's talk about this salad. I had the Tostada salad with chicken. Served on a fried corn tortilla shell without black bean, spring mix, romaine lettuce, red cabbage, without radish, carrots, queso fresco, pico de gallo, homemade balsamic vinaigrette on the side. I just realized my salad was not topped w/ guacamole but it was still good. Service was amazing, everything is freshly cooked and the ambiance was nice. It gets busy during lunch so I can imagine it gets busy during dinner as well."

"El Caballo Wraps is a small hole in the wall Taqueria on Lincoln Ave in Alameda. The menu is quite extensive though offering every type of burrito imaginable, tacos including snapper fish tacos, fajitas, pupusas, and the list goes on. They were kind enough to let us sample their chicken tortilla soup which was fresh and homemade. While sampling the soup we order one of their special burritos called Super Seafood Burrito.Super Seafood Burrito: at first I was taken back by the total which was $19.88 with tax included. But in defense, burritos on this side of the bay for whatever reason have inflated to that price. I wish someone would tell my employer, I shouldn't have to work so many hours just to buy burritos. But I digress... The burrito was good tasting and every bite had shrimp in it. That makes it a winner in my book. No skimping and good SABOR.El Caballo is definitely a spot to check out for solid Mexican food in Alameda."

"Mexican food is my favorite and El Portal was a win all around. It was recommended to me by a friend and I wanted to try it for myself. It wasn't very busy (I went on a weekday), but I've heard about their weekend brunch which is supposed to be pretty popular. I had their crispy tacos and devoured the entire thing. The shells were very crunchy, didn't break apart, and weren't soggy. I also had a blueberry daiquiri that was very good. The ambiance was pretty chill but I can see it being more lively on a busier day. Overall really enjoyed the food and can't wait for my next visit."
