Passing through and so glad we stopped! Everything was delicious, especially the pork steak and brisket! Get there early because they sell out fast!

Ran across this BBQ place while touring the "painted churches" nearby. My wife and I had the half chicken and the pork sandwich. The smoked flavor was perfect and there wasn't a piece of meat that wasn't tender. I would plan on sitting outside since there isn't much space inside.

This place had been around a long time. Characteristic of the small town BBQ place. Meat and sausages are packed locally. Chickens are from farms around Gonzales. This is the Texas that slow moving pickup truck would pull over and let you by. Everybody knows everybody else. If you get there by noon on a Saturday, like you'll have to settle with what they have left.We had a take out dinner. Smoke taste was heavy, ribs tender, chicken was not dry, briskets were easy to eat even without a knife. To wash all that down was a Shiner boch brewed 15 miles to the west.

Great real Texas bbq. Place is dated, however don't judge a book by its cover. I have won many awards for my bbq so i am tough on other bbq. This place has real seal bbq you can tell it is smoked low and slow. I get a brisket plate with a pound of sausage every time i pass by. Food is the same every time. There Is a reason this place has been here so long....

Very good. Love the small town feel. No frills, just great brisket and sausage. Sausage is homemade on the spot. It doesn't get any fresher. If you don't believe me, just open the door in the back. The brisket has a very nice smoke ring and not over or under cooked and was very likely smoked with Post Oak which is very common in the area. It actually made me stop along the road and gather some Post Oak wood along the way down 90. I'll BBQ some ribs with it this weekend. Well worth the short detour off of I-10.

It doesn't get any better than this! No nonsense BBQ and the best sausage I've ever had! In fact, the sausage is so good my family has been ordering it for three generations! That's right! My grandmother used to call the market and they would shipped the sausage on the Greyhound bus to San Antonio. Now my family takes turns driving to Hallettsville to pick it up, sometimes 100-150 links at a time. The sausage is full of peppery flavor and is what I call a dry sausage, not fatty. Best cooked on the grill. We've always had great, no nonsense service. If you're looking for a fancy joint, head elsewhere. Novosad's is about the meat.

Great place. Great Q. Love the atmosphere in the place, serious bbq establishment, no bells and whistles just truth. Unlike, the comment I noticed below I find the staff to be extremely nice, their not the most outgoing people in the world, but a good couple. The only critism I would have about this great place is that the sauce is a bit on the salty side, which some love but I prefer a sweeter sauce. Other than that, keep it up Novosad's
