5 Stars - Lumpia Love at Brooklyn Basin! The Lumpia Company at Brooklyn Basin is a whole vibe! Their lumpia? Crispy perfection. I went in on the Chicken Tinola Lumpia, and wow--meaty, herbal, and paired with that rich aïoli? Chef's kiss. The Tofu Lumpia was a surprise star--finely diced firm tofu, so flavorful it might just be the best lumpia I've ever had. And that garlic shmack sauce? Smacks talaga! The Lumpia Company Salad was no afterthought--crunchy lumpia wrapper bits, fluffy cornix, fresh kale, and a zesty calamansi vinaigrette. Who knew a salad could be this fun? Washed it all down with a strawberry calamansi limeade, sweet, tart, and even better with a pinch of salt.Bonus points for the free vintage video games and the massive outdoor space--perfect for kids (or grown-ups who wanna skate, bike, or bust a move). Dog friendly outdoor space! Food, fun, and good vibes? I'll be back! Free salsa dancing on Sundays outside too!

I saw the process of them fixing up this store at Brooklyn Basin awhile back ago. I was really excited to finally give it a try today, as I was back in the area for an event. However, the start of my Lumpia Company experience was a sure sign of what was to come. The store was pretty empty, 1 family of 4 eating there at 11:30AM.Walked up to the cashier area, no one in sight. Saw a couple people in the back. We made eye contact, for sure I thought I'd be greeted, seeing how it didn't look busy. But I was wrong, left there waiting for a little longer. Finally by 11:42 someone came to the register to take my order. With the name Lumpia Company, I kept my order simple. Pork lumpia, a scoop of white rice and a mini can of Stary soda. To my shock, the price was $18! But I understand, eating out is pricey now. But the taste and service didn't justify the price. I literally waited over 20 minutes for 1 order of lumpia and white rice. I am not a snob but 20 mins for lumpia and rice is CRAZY! That's not including the almost 5 minutes I wait for my order to be taken. Now onto what I would assume is their staple dish, Lumpia. This has got to be the blandest Lumpia I have ever tasted! It was confusing as too how it could be this bland. Like others have stated in their reviews, family and friends recipe is much better then Lumpia Companys version. Even the frozen Magnolia brand pork lumpia that I can get at Lucky's is 100% better and wayyyyy cheaper. Overall, I was underwhelmed and disappointed with my experience. Most likely won't even give it another chance. If you're in the mood for real authentic Filipino food in Oakland, head over to FOB Kitchen.

One of the greatest, , tiny, fried bites of food you will ever have is lumpia. What is lumpia? Glad you asked. It is basically a Filipino spring roll or egg roll. I work in the medical field where many of my peers are from the Philippines. It is a common dish brought to potlucks and it's one of my go to pick ups when I need to bring something to a gathering. It's a great finger food and a crowd favorite. When visiting San Francisco, I knew there was a strong Filipino community out there. Little did I know that I would see a whole concession stand at Oracle Park featuring delicious lumpia. I try and skip the usual baseball game foods and seek out local foods. This was as local as it gets. They had lumpia and a few dessert items. That's it. Their stand alone restaurants have more items on the menu. I got an order of the chicken lumpia and a strawberry calamansi lemonade. The lumpia came out hot and fresh and was a generous serving. It came with a sweet and sour sauce that was really an afterthought for me. It was delicious on it's own. It was a tad bit greasier than I'm used to though. We tore those suckers up in no time. Calamansi anything was new to me, but it was explained to me as a lime like fruit from Southeast Asia. The lemonade concoction was very good. It was refreshing while watching summer baseball!Overall, we really enjoyed our food here. I have their brick and mortar bookmarked for the next time I'm in the Bay Area.

I truly love the growth of this establishment how they were more of a pop-up and food truck and now have a nice wonderfully size venue near Oakland's waterfront. It is so nice to see that growth. However, my last visit wasn't my favorite. I love all the lumpia, but the rice I ordered with my garlic shrimp with gummy and not really warm however, the garlic shrimp was on point. They're really informal and friendly when you enter the establishment and I can't wait until it's warmer outside so I can enjoy eating On the patio. The mama veggies lumpia are my favorite.

E-40 HONORARY CAL CAPTAINOn Saturday October 26, E-40 was an honorary captain for the California Golden Bears Football Team. The first 10,000 attendants would receive an E-40 bobblehead. I wasn't able to get the bobblehead, but after the game when Cal won I drove to The Lumpia Company to get some lumpias. I went here because E-40 is an investor to this eatery. At The Lumpia Company I believe one of the owners asked if I was at the Cal game since I was wearing my Cal apparel. I said yes. I did a mix and match of two lumpias. One set of lumpias was the pork and shrimp Shanghai lumpia, which is close to the standard lumpias that I ate growing up. The other was chicken tinola. That type of lumpia seemed intriguing to me as chicken tinola is a Filipino-style chicken soup. Besides these items I ordered the peach mango cobbler, original seasoned wings, and calamansi ade. When I first took a bite of the pork and shrimp lumpia I tasted how moist it was. I took that lumpia and squeezed it. I noticed the juices dripping. I knew that the lumpia filling wasn't frozen. Then when I tasted the chicken tinola I was like wow. The taste was similar to Hainan chicken with its scallion and ginger flavors. Due to those two lumpias I could have rated this place a five-star ranking, however I wanted to give this place another visit before I decide to justify my initial rating.I came back here two weeks later. There is a saying that you eat with your eyes first. That is evident how food items are listed on the menu. I knew I was going to order the bacon cheeseburger as that lumpia is listed on top of the menu. Therefore I felt that lumpia is the signature dish from The Lumpia Company. Besides the burger cheeseburger lumpia I asked one of the cashiers if he would recommend the Mama's Veggie or TLC Veggie. The cashier suggested Mama's Veggie. As last time I ordered a mix and match of two lumpias, but this time of bacon cheeseburger and Mama's Veggie. Since I loved the chicken tinola from my first visit I placed a whole order of that lumpia. Also as last time I ordered the chicken wings, but with garlic parmesan adobo. When I got the bacon cheeseburger I was getting excited for that lumpia. After finishing that lumpia I found the bacon cheeseburger to be dry and grainy. I hope Mama's Veggie would redeem my second visit to The Lumpia Company. I felt that vegetables on the lumpia was soggy. I'm glad that the chicken tinola helped preserved my second visit to The Lumpia Company. I'll comment on the wings. They are double fried. Even though the skin is crispy the meat isn't moist. Regarding the flavors I preferred the original seasoned over the garlic parmesan adobo because I couldn't taste the adobo on those wings.I'm glad I ate at The Lumpia Company twice. After my second visit I plan to give a four-star rating due to the wings and chicken tinola lumpia. However if I took out the best two items - pork and shrimp lumpia and chicken tinola lumpia - I ate during my visits the rest of the items I had were average. I also take in consideration that twice I had to pay for parking in the garage as I couldn't find free parking close to The Lumpia Company. Do I plan to drive to The Lumpia Company again knowing most likely I would have to pay for parking? For me The Lumpia Company was just ok.

4 stars for the vibes!I've been wanting to try this place for as long as I can remember. I'm happy they opened this location up since it's only a five minute drive from my house. I can see how parking can be difficult, but I lucked out. I came here on a Saturday at 1 PM and was able to find street parking easily. There is also a small parking lot, but it looks like it can fill up pretty quickly.I wouldn't say it was packed when I arrived, but it does look like people tend to hang out in this area. It took a couple minutes for someone to come to the register to take my order and then I waited another 30 minutes for my food, but it felt like maybe 15 minutes since I was dancing to their good music and playing some of their arcade games.I ordered a Thai tea ($5), bacon cheeseburger lumpia with fries ($15), and the garlic Parmesan adobo wings with garlic rice ($15). The food wasn't really served hot. I would say a lot of the food was lukewarm. The only thing that was served fresh were the lumpias. I think the fries were my favorite. The bacon cheeseburger lumpia were a bit dry but tasted pretty good with their smack sauce. I felt like the wings and the rice lacked flavor and the Thai tea were simply okay.Overall, it was simply okay but I would come back to try items in the menu.

This is one of my shortest and most to the point review:RUN, don't walk, to The Lumpia Company down at Brooklyn Basin along Oakland's Embarcadero. There's an extensive menus of everything from lumpia (of course) to wings to crispy pig skin "chips" to poutine to da kine like butter mochi and dole whip. Service was a snap through their online portal, but of course you can just pull up and order as well. And the location cannot be beat on any day with waterfront breezes and views. Super nice peeps inside too. As to the food, we got adobo wings (hella spicy but delicious and so crispy I thought it was Jollibee!), their sinigang pork belly chips (big serving that was so bad for me but I still wanted another serving), and the classic pork & shrimp lumpia Shanghai (amazingly crisp and tasty with the sweet chili sauce). I'll be back for the rest of that menu. Oh fuck yeah I'll be back!
