We catered from this place over the holidays and I highly recommend everyone to try it! The pulled pork of this world and the brisket was a major hit with everyone. The customer service was above and beyond anything else I've experienced in a long time and every restaurant should learn how to treat customers exactly like how they treated me. if I ever get barbecue in the future, I'll definitely be coming back here

At 4:30pm after a long, hard day of work i decided to stop on the way home to get bbq. I arrived and waited at the empty counter for someone to appear. I saw a sign where i was standing that said "OPEN" but no one nearby so I called out, "Hello!" A dirty, petite man/child popped out from under the counter and said, "We are closed!!!" He had the most condescending and rude tone that i said, "the sign says OPEN" He pointed to a handwritten note on the menu board over my head that read, "CLOSED." I asked if he had seen me standing there looking goofy and he said he had only just seen me. I asked his name, he wouldn't tell me his name, but he asked me why I wanted to know, and I told him I needed to know so that I wouldn't refer to him as tiny, rude man on the YELP review and he just shrugged his shoulders. So tiny, rude man it is!I am not annoyed with tiny, dirty rude man because they were closed, I'm not annoyed because I stood there looking like a goof not recognizing that they were closed. That's not his fault. I'm angry that after a long day at work, tiny, petite rude man didn't have enough common sense to treat a customer kindly. My friends and I generally meet there grab barbecue and sit and enjoy.. I'll never be back even though I live across the street. There are plenty of places to get mid, overpriced, gentrified barbecue with better customer service..

The Emeryville Public Market was my spot for the day. Walked in, took a look around at all the food options, and then--boom--Pig In A Pickle. Hadn't thought about this place in years, but the second I saw it, my taste buds reminded me real quick: this joint hits! No hesitation--BBQ was the move.I'm three weeks deep into a BBQ journey, searching for that spot to restore my faith in good 'cue. Pig In A Pickle? Yeah, this one did it. I kept it simple--brisket and chicken. Sides? Collard greens, potato salad, and of course, cornbread. And let me tell you--PERFECTION. Everything was on point. This is the only BBQ spot in the last month that I'd actually come back to. That smoked brisket? Straight-up legendary.Bottom line--go get you some! I'm already planning my next visit. Oh, and the service? On point too. Worth every bite!

First time trying Pig in a Pickle BBQ, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the beef brisket, baby back ribs, mac 'n' cheese, and coleslaw, and everything was excellent! The beef brisket was unbelievably tender and juicy, with a perfect smokiness from the California White Oak. The flavor of the meat was so rich and delicious that it didn't even need any sauce. The baby back ribs were equally impressive, falling off the bone with every bite. The mac 'n' cheese was creamy, and the coleslaw was a refreshing complement to the meats.Without a doubt, this is the best BBQ I've had in 2024!

Omg we've seen this every time we came but didn't happen to be in the mood for bbq until today . And I am so happy , customer service was great . The brisket was a 5/5 one of the best I've had in a while . Potato salad was fire . I wasn't a fan of coleslaw neither was my husband . The corn bread was fireeee . I love the mild hot sauce the best . I'm already craving more brisket

I love a good beef rib, and Pig in a Pickle got a good beef rib. (Available on Sundays).Price was $41.92 and the weight of our rib was 1.31lbs. My daughter and I devoured it. Great flavor, so damn tender and a perfect ratio of fat to meat. The Mac and cheese is so creamy and cheesy. I couldn't get enough. The collard greens were also delicious with a bright vinegary flavor. I tried the Easter Carolina sauce, mild and hot. They also had Alabama white sauce and a mustard sauce as well. Sauces come on the side. I appreciate that there's a variety of different types of bbq sauces. I'm looking forward to trying more of their offerings!

Very good bbq. The sides are particularly excellent -- corn bread, slaw, mac & cheese. I love being able to order the meat by weight. It compares favorably with my absolute favorite bbq in the world (Brothers BBQ in Reno). Honestly, Pig's sides are probably better, while Reno might have a slight edge on meat and sauce.. barely. But it's great here and a serious bonus that it's even a conundrum. This place is, IMO, better than Horn Barbecue in Oakland. I had really friendly and helpful service, to boot.

My bad- going to a bbq spot & ordering a salad; saw one being assembled before ordering & thought it looked good. It's 75% greens, a smattering of carrots & pickled onions(the best part). The chicken was appalling, was good maybe 3 days ago. Had that cooked from frozen texture, grainy, dissolves before chewing. Disgusting. Nothing smoked about it. Waste of $16, they need to get it off the menu.

Wow, Pig in a Pickle serves up some of the best BBQ we've had in a while! Everything is order by pound and ala carte. They have lots of different sauces, all free and on-the-side, plus some very excellent sides. Definitely recommend:* Baby Back Ribs - get a pound to share for two. The outsides looked charred and burnt, but in really the meat underneath is soft, moist and succulent. You don't even need sauce since the seasoning is spot on!* We liked the mild sauce and the Carolina sauce which has apple cider vinegar. They also have a white , mayonnaise based sauce that's supposedly good with chicken.* We opted for marbled brisket instead of the lean brisket. After all, fat=flavor. It's sliced to order. Here, you may want to enjoy with sauce.* White Cheddar Mac and Cheese is creamy and good, and is a favorite of our 4yo son, which normally only likes penne pasta. 5 stars! Glad they are always a good option in Emeryville Public Market for our meat fix.

Was in the area and finally decided to stop by this place. I love that they charge by the pound but there's no minimum buy. They cut up the meat and weigh it in front of you so you can ask for a specific weight or just some slices. As for the food. I got brisket and pork ribs. Both were fine. The brisket was cooked nicely and the juiciest that I've had out of all the bbq places I've tried in the bay so far. The biggest issue is that they don't season anything. No salt , No pepper, no rub, just straight meat. If they had really good smoke rings and char they could get away with it, but that's not the case. To top it off, I'm not a fan of their sauces. Their mild just taste like brown sugar, and the spicy has no real heat. The cornbread was pretty good. I don't know if it was $4 good, but was my favorite of the two sides I got. The coleslaw has a vinegar base opposed to a mayo base. I prefer a mayo base, but that's just me. My friend like her potato salad. It's not the worst bbq place I've tried out here but I probably won't return. There was nothing memorable. But not a complete waste of money. If they were to just season their meat in the slightest way, I could definitely see myself returning.
