Original Giant Burger

Great place good food. And it's fast lots of variety. My go to stop for some great food

Food is delicious, would not expect this is my acupuncturist did not tell me about this place. The Korean Fried Chicken is authentic.We spoke to the cashier, seemed like he is the owner. He was very friendly. The soy garlic and honey butter were both flavorable. Not too salty, sweet, or too overly crunchy. The hamburger was good. The fish burger was tasty, no fishy or stale taste. Ambiance is a normal burger joint, old style, clean. Hole in the wall, little mom and pop shop. Convenient location too, lots of parking. Will get take out again if in the same vicinity.

I got a soft spot for mom and pop shops and this is the epitome of it. Don't come here expecting a refined meal as the place feels like a run down diner with no AC and old school booths and tables for dining in, but the workers are friendly and ready to serve. Food-wise they're a bit confused, but we were happy enough with our fried chicken entrees (pretty much Korean fried chicken). We got two half Crispy Fried Combos - one in Soy Garlic and the second in Sweet & Spicy and both were fried extremely well. We also got a free little bonus appetizer of deep fried rice cakes when the cashier (assuming the owner) asked if we enjoyed spicy food and we said yes.This type of establishment feels like the businesses that make a city's personality and builds community so I'd happily support them again in the future.

The food was good! I had a burger with curly fries and pineapple milkshake - just what I needed. My coworker got fried chicken (soy garlic) with curly fries. Service was helpful. It's a bit run down, but good place overall. If I was in the mood for curly fries and a milkshake, I'd come back when in town.

This inexpensive burger, hot dog, breakfast place has been here for years and they've recently gone thru a change where they have added KFC - Korean Fried Chicken!Who doesn't know or love KFC?!? The National food of South Korea! Or is it Japchae or Kimchee or Kalbi or.... Well if you watch a lot of K-Dramas you'll know that S Koreans love their fried chicken: Original or you can get the American concoction of: Soy Garlic, Sweet & Spicy, Cheddar, Honey Butter, or Garlic. From WS?!?The place is across from the Oakland Metro Golf Links & Range and down the road from the San Leandro Dump on busy Doolittle - Convenient divey location for all the local businesses. Don't expect clean but expect comfort food.We had the Soy Garlic 7 Piece of Drums and Wings which were good for the price and convenience of having nothing similar around for miles. We also used the gloves to protect our hands from getting smelly or sticky. Hamburgers are quarter pound and decent. A good place to pick up food for your flight out of Oakland Airport.

Customer service was good, prices were decent. We got original wings and a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Everything lacked salt, or flavor in general. We frequent the other giant burgers establishments and it's not the same. Maybe it was just this once they forgot the salt on everything. I'd try them again if I was in a pinch.

Giant Burger used to be one of my favorites for great service and good food at reasonable prices. No more. The ownership changed and they've slid downhill astonishingly fast. I still went in as the cook was a carryover, so for a while the food was the same. The new owners raised prices and added Korean fried chicken.This past visit was rock bottom. I ordered my usual Denver omelet with hash browns and sourdough toast. The omelet was terrible. Undercooked, no meat. The toast was not toasted, just tasted like regular white bread. Worst the "hash browns" were just 2 McDonald's-like patties. Man, I could cook this crap better at home.The new owner gets easily confused and doesn't seem to be able to handle the register. Anything out of the ordinary like "hold the onions" seems to confuse him. He was arguing with the guy in front of me about the price of his breakfast sandwich because he wanted to substitute turkey for ham. The lady owner stepped in and charged the correct amount.High prices, lousy food, and rude customer service. It pains me to say, but you've lost this customer forever.

Lo and behold! Our last visit was nearly one year ago. I was coming home on Doolittle from Alameda on Doolittle and called home to ask if she wanted anything. She said to go to the burger place and get some burgers and fried chicken. After a year, I had forgotten the last visit and failed to look at yelp and read my own review. It was about 12:30 when I arrived, and the parking lot was 2/3's full. Egads! I walked in and of course, there was a line. It was about six deep, waiting to order. There was a sign in the window that suggested ordering in advance to save on the wait. The fried chicken is Korean Style fried chicken with a variety of sauces that you can choose from.When we visit a place for the "first time", we like to overorder so we can try multiple flavors. Today, I got:Hamburger with Grilled Onions and Pickles - 3 - She didn't read my last review before cutting her burger in half and eating it. She told me that the meat was bland, the lettuce wilted and the bun falling apart because it was really soggy. Cheeseburger with Grill Onions and Pickles - ? - I didn't eat mine because I was focused on the Fried Chicken and the Fish. After I read my review, I rewrapped my burger and stuck it in the refrigerator to eat tomorrow. Fish & Chips - 2 - The score is for the Fish. We were in London three weeks ago and had the best Fish ever. The fish was large in size, the crust very crispy and flavorful; the overall temperature was hot. The Chips in London weren't anything special, so we didn't eat much of those there either. The tartar sauce today was not good. No pickle relish noticed, and the sauce was runny and boring. The odd thing was that I ordered a 3-piece and received 4-pieces. I don't know if that was accidental or intentional. The fish was okay, but I probably wouldn't order it again...if I remember this experience. Korean Fried Chicken with Sweet & Spicy Sauce - 3 - The chicken was good. The sauce was good. Why the low score? At other places where we've had KFC, the crust stayed crunchy even with sauce. This crust did not, and we found that disappointing. Our Full order came with 5 drumsticks and 10 wings. Customer service was very friendly and efficient in spite of how busy they were. Customers kept coming in and the orders were flying out. I also noticed that they were handing out a sample to most of the customers. Maybe we'll come by sometime and try the KFC in the Original which should be without any sauce.

This is our go to giant burger joint. I've been coming here to this place as a little kid and now I bring my little kids here. The older Asian lady is such a sweetheart. I remember her as a kid and she is still working here. We always come here for burgers and fries. Don't forget to grab a ranch for some reason the ranch here is delicious.

What a hole in the wall and hidden gem. Stopped by after getting off a flight. WOW! I was not disappointed. The strange thing is this place has a big menu. They have all burger stuff, fries and shakes but also Korean bbq plates. Also fried chicken sandwiches, fried chicken, tenders, etc. I got a bnls chicken wing as a sample. It was amazing but a little too spicy for my tastes. The burger was great but fries weren't extra crispy as requested. Minor misses. This place was bumpkin' ' with a steady stream of people coming in and out constantly because this is a great burger place, and more. Go check them out!
