The food was amazing and the experience was beyond our dreams. Great staff and ambiance for Valentine's Day dinner with my love. Drinks were great and the food was out of this world. Easy free parking. Out of the beaten path in Redwood City, a hidden gem.I'd recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood.

Service was amazing! It was my wedding anniversary with my wife, and I did add that note when making the reservation. What I loved was absolutely all staff said congrats to us both, I mean from check-in host, waiter, managers and even a signed card! The food was good, great portion size and great variety. The taste was good, almost great, but that is totally a personal preference on what I ordered, so I wont go into detail as this does not reflect on all the food choices. Only thing to note, it is in Redwood City but way way out toward the water. The first 5-10mins of driving off the freeway feels like you are driving into deep corporate and industrial ghost towns. However, the drive is worth it!

Lovely restaurant, pleasant experience, but some issues with execution that made this a less-than-perfect experience.A group of six of us met here recently for an after-work gathering. We were seated right next to the jellyfish tank and had a view of the kitchen, which added to the entertainment for the evening. I was greeted warmly as I entered and directed to our table where the rest of the party was waiting. We were given plenty of time to chat and wait for the rest of the group to arrive. We ordered drinks to pass the time, and when we were fully assembled we got down to the business of ordering. We were oriented to the menu, which has impressive offerings. Some of the items - such as the $250 tomahawk steak - seemed like a daunting undertaking for a single person, but fortunately you have the option of doing things family style. This is what crossed our table today:- A variety of raw oysters on the half shell - I did not partake of these, as I once had an unfortunate experience with a marine toxin ailment the last time I ate ray oysters. The braver souls among us all expressed satisfaction with this.- warm milk bread with ube and coconut butter - bread was nice and soft, slightly sweet. Ube wasn't working for me, but it was perfectly fine in its unmodified form.- apple and endive salad - nice crisp endive leaves with gorgonzola toast (delicious) and a subtle Meyer lemon dressing. Delicious.- "Liberty duck" salad - had to look this one up, as I hadn't heard of this breed. Turns out it's not a breed but a supplier from Sonoma. The duck was moist, skin was crispy, and the vinaigrette dressing worked well.- Monterey calamari Bolognese - I loved the squid ink pasta and gremolata, but for the price there was barely any calamari. I think I counted just three tentacles. I was fortunate enough to snag a piece of one. It was good, but just not enough.- roasted pork chop - tender, juicy, rich in flavor. It was served on a bed of yellow split peas and topped with an apple chutney and a few leaves of kale (the fewer the better, IMO). Outstanding dish, my favorite of the evening- whole roasted dorade (2) - this, unfortunately, is where things fell short. After being presented to the table in whole form, the server deboned the fish for our consumption. However, we all spent a lot of the meal picking pieces of fin and bone out of our teeth. The flavor was good; probably could have used a little more fried rice to go with the dish.- carrot cake - this is the first time I've encountered an elevated carrot cake and I had my doubts when we ordered it, but it did not disappoint. The light cream cheese frosting was served in dollops alternating with a sour cream frosting (if that's what it's called), which created an interesting contrast in flavors. I liked this quite a bit.- apple cake - good, nothing spectacular, but enjoyable nonetheless- coconut pannacotta - I insisted upon this dessert because I can't pass up pannacotta when I see it on a menu. The flavor was excellent and the fruit salad provided some brightness and freshness to our dessert course. The pannacotta itself maybe had just a little too much gelatin, but I'm not complaining.Service was very attentive and friendly. Even though we were the first seating and there could have been diners with later reservations waiting for a table, we never felt rushed. The total cost per person, including 1-2 drinks each, was a little over $100.So, this was a very nice experience with just one major hiccup in the execution. Definitely worth a return visit.

We had a reservation for Friday night Valentine's Day and somehow we were still seated outside at the very last table. Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating, had great recommendations. However, the service was very slow, we waited like 20 minutes just to order and another 40 minutes just for our food. It was super cold that night but they let us move tables under the heater. However we noticed as tables opened up inside, no one had offered for us to move inside the restaurant as it was freezing outside. There was also the owner I believe walking around greeting people and offering to take pictures at their sign - we declined lol. However some of the food was incredible, the caviar toast was the best thing. It melted in your mouth so perfectly and it was buttery and smooth. The sea scallop was also the second best as it was so flavorful. The beef filet was a hit as well as it was tender and juicy. Overall it was nice, but I wish the service was bit more attentive and quicker. Maybe I'll come back to try during the day.

Wow what a great evening! The hospitality and atmosphere was very welcoming. Didn't have a reservation but the staff made the best effort to accommodate 2. The drinks were well made and the bar staff were attentive ! Cosmopolitan martini was well portioned and the hibiscus margaritas w mezcal was soooo fire! Had the oyster appetizer and they were fresh and savory! Ordered the clam chowder w bread and that was a perfect start! I had the cod w mushrooms and it was super flavorful! We also tried the swordfish and it was gamey but tasteful! Was not a fan of the beans but not bad. Appreciated the creative dish that MeeSon (spelling?) sent over and our server Jonathan had amazing customer service ! Definitely will come again and try the surf n turf next time!

This restaurant is very beautiful. The jellyfish tank was the highlight for me! The waiters were very kind and attentive except for the fact that they didn't ask if anyone in our party had peanut allergies. The lunch time crowd was pretty chatty which made it tough to hear across the table but it was great energy nevertheless. Aside from that, the steak was very gamey and I didn't expect that, so i asked to change my order and they were very accommodating. The seafood chowder was good! I'd definitely visit Hurrica again to try out the dinner menu.

Hurrica Restaurant & Bar in Redwood City is a fantastic spot with a lot to love, though there were a couple of hiccups during our visit. My date and I arrived for our 8 PM reservation and were seated immediately, which was a great start. I had my puppy with me, and they were super accommodating, seating us outdoors where the space heaters kept us toasty for most of the evening. Bonus points for being dog-friendly - there were a few other pups outside, and my little one had the best time!We started off with a small plate, the local hilt carpaccio, which was a delightful way to begin the meal. The Mendocino uni that came with it was absolutely delicious, especially when paired with the crackers - such a rich, creamy treat. We also enjoyed a dozen oysters, which paired perfectly with the bottle of white wine the sommelier recommended. We wanted something balanced - not too dry, not too sweet - and they absolutely delivered. For our mains, we ordered the achiote marinated swordfish and the pan-roasted black cod. Both dishes were outstanding! The cod was beautifully flavorful, and I especially loved the mushrooms, which added a wonderful depth to the dish. The swordfish had this sweet, umami-rich flavor that I'm pretty sure came from the green tangerine - such a thoughtful and delicious touch. One of the unexpected highlights? The buttermilk bread with ube spread. Oh my gosh, it was perfection. The bread was warm and fluffy, and that creamy ube spread was an absolute game-changer.Another standout feature of the restaurant was the wall with live jellyfish swimming gracefully. It added such a unique, mesmerizing touch to the atmosphere and really elevated the high-end vibe of the place. That said, there was one downside: the service slowed toward the end. It took about 15-20 minutes to get the bill, and by that time, the heaters weren't cutting it anymore - we were freezing. That wait left a bit of a sour note on an otherwise stellar night.Overall, Hurrica Restaurant & Bar is definitely worth a visit, especially if you're looking for great seafood, a killer sommelier, and a dog-friendly atmosphere. The jellyfish wall alone is worth checking out! Just bring a jacket and maybe a little patience for the check at the end!

Came here to celebrate an anniversary, we had a reservation for 2 at 6pm on a Friday. We checked in a few minutes late, but we were able to get a table. The staff were pretty friendly. ~The Food~- Monterey Calamari Bolognese ($18): This was a squid ink pasta that had a calamari bolognese sauce. We really enjoyed this dish! I liked how light and thin the pasta was! The bolognese made with calamari was also very unique and nicely flavored. The combo of the two were great! it was topped with a couple pieces of fried calamari legs, which was a bit cold? so I think this dish would've been perfect if the fried pieces were a bit more fresh! - Red Wine Braised Beef Short Rib ($44): This short rib dish was quite a tasty dish! Each component of the dish (short ribs and veggies) were cooked so well. The beef was tender, the roasted vegetables (carrots, Brussels sprouts, and potatoes) cooked perfectly. The only con was that the entire dish was pretty salty, a bit too salty for our preference, which possibly was from the sauce. - Pan Roasted Black Cod ($45): This was our favorite dish of the night. The cod was cooked so perfectly, so flakey and light, yet the skin was so crisp! Love it! It also came with a little crepe, filled with mushrooms which was delightful. I would say similar to the short ribs, the sauce here was quite salty, so that might've been the only con! ~Service & Ambiance~The staff were incredibly friendly. The waiter surprised us with some chocolate cake at the end which we thought was a thoughtful gesture. They also gave us a little hand-written card celebrating our anniversary. Very thoughtful. Would recommend for anyone wanting to have a nice dinner to celebrate a special occasion!

My husband and I came here for vday lunch and we loved it! The ambiance and location right by the water was beautiful. It was cloudy when we first came, but the sun came out towards the end and we really enjoyed it. We got the oysters, the fish entree and the fish and chips. Everything was delicious and their portion sizes were pretty big. The honey butternut(?) squash was amazing with the miso and fish. The fish and chips we nicely breaded and they gave so many fries! Since it was vday they had someone passing out single stem roses. It was so sweet and such a nice touch. The service was super friendly and attentive too. Absolutely, would love to come back on the next special occasion we have :)

This is a great spot and I highly recommend it! The location is very scenic right by the water. The decor is beautiful (loved the jellyfish, they are mesmerizing) and reminded me of the Waterbar in the city which is not surprising given that they are sister restaurants. The food was excellent! The cocktails were very good. The milk bread with ube butter was a big hit. The sashimi (it was odd naming since it came with rice like ngiri) was excellent. The short rib with truffles was delicious and so was the Clam Chowder. The owner stopped by to chat with us and she was very hospitable and clearly knows what she is doing. I wish them the very best!
