What a bummer. I saw the truck at the recent FAHM Jam even at the Garden at the Flea in San Jose. I wasn't sure if it was the same as the now shuttered Hula Bar & Kitchen restaurant. But thought it might be and wanted to show support especially if they closed their restaurant. I waited about 45 mins in line just to place and order. Their meat options were limited to chicken adobo and kalua pork. I ordered the Da Situation which was tator tots with kalua pork, pico de gallo, and hula sauce. I also ordered their Bayrito burrito with chicken adobo, pico de gallo, hula sauce and cheese. To note, I have a picky kid and asked for the pico and hula sauce on the side for the tator tots. Another 15-20 mins for food to be called. When I got it, I noticed we didn't get the requested pico and hula sauce on the side. I asked for it and was told they were out of pico, but she did give me a little hula sauce in a small tray. We walked all the way to the car to eat our food. When we dug in, all I could taste was disappointment. The kalua pork was super dry and seemed fried. Thankfully my kid was happy with just the tator tots, but it was a let down for me. Even with the hula sauce, it wasn't very flavorful. It was just dried crispy bits of kalua pork. No smokiness, just crunchy pieces. The burrito was meagerly sized. The chicken adobo was not adobo'ing. It was just chicken. No real flavor to it and definitely did not taste like adobo. On top of that, there was no pico, and hula sauce in there, just some melted cheese maybe. I paid $15 for a low quality small burrito. It also taste like fried food. You know how fries smell, the smell of used oil or oil that's not been changed out? That's what it tasted like mostly.I was extremely disappointed. By the way, the girl who took my order did confirm they were the same as Hula Bar and Kitchen and that yes, they did close the restaurant. Such a huge disconnect. I loved the food they served in the resto, not sure why such disparity in quality with the truck. And the truck has been around longer. Plus supposedly they have a location at Levi's? Can't imagine the quality of these items flying over there. The staff didn't seem too happy to be there. It was a crazy busy night after all. But it definitely didn't add to the experience with the already depressing food.

The lumpia, burritos, all of it is fire, but if they have the poke nachos, I'll tell you now it is fire. If you aren't a fan of chasing a truck you can also find them at Levi stadium on the 300 level, and word is they are opening a fil restaurant in downtown sj. I can't wait, but we all have to....

Ordered the Da Situation without the egg with crisp pork. I would have liked the pork to be more crisp and have more salas otherwise everything else was good. Great portion. Good customer service.

3.5 stars In the Bay Area, it's not unusual to see Hawaiian and Filipino foods and cultures intersect. On the Hula Truck menu, you'll find both kalua pork and chicken adobo. I was able to try the latter in their Rice, Rice Baby dish. Boneless, skinless chicken thigh had the essence of adobo but wasn't executed with consummate skill; could not discern bold, classic vinegar-soy sauce-garlic flavoring. The adobo rice, though a bit mushy, had more striking flavor. We also tried "Mama's Lumpia," a generous potion of egg rolls that seem to be their version of Lumpiang Shanghai with a flavorful, moist filling of pork, green onions, & water chestnuts. Wrapper was not greasy but had that satisfying crunch with every bite that I dipped into the side of sweet chili sauce! Make a beeline for the truck with a hula girl painted on -- she's got the bomb lumpia. Total for two items was $21.

This bad boy was parked right outside my apartment community and I was compelled to try it out. They have an eclectic but seemingly yummy looking menu. I was not very hungry so I just got an appetizer, my mamas lumpia. They are your standard egg rolls with deep fried shells and a not so standard filling of ground pork, shrimp and water chestnuts. I enjoyed the crunchy outer cover and the savory inside. The sweet and spicy sauce on the side was a nice addition. Definitely gonna try out the other offerings if I come across this truck again.8/10 would go back again!

Even though it really hasn't been all that long since my trip to Hawaii, I'm dying to go back. Sure, finally finishing all of my reviews probably has something to do with it, but what is there not to miss about that island life? The beaches, the gorgeous sunsets, the beautiful weather, the food, the tanned and pretty girls...sigh. Alas, I may not be able to do much about most of those, but at least I can still find some of those tasty grinds! While I may not have known much about the Hula Truck before randomly stumbling across them, I was stoked to check them out after I skimmed through their menu and scrolled through their reviews on Yelp. Their menu isn't purely Hawaiian (half of it is Filipino), but just about everything sounded equally delicious - from from Hawaiian plate lunches, to burritos, to some delicious looking tots. So much so, in fact, that I knew I was going to have to make multiple trips here before I could write this review!--MY MAMA'S LUMPIA - Deep Fried Egg Rolls Filled with Ground Pork, Shrimp, and Water Chestnuts served with a Sweet Chili Sauce...$7.75(https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hula-truck-santa-clara?select=p2Jr81x-nZ-Cf1uH3LJwog)To this day, no lumpia has ever topped the ones my friend's mom made for me years ago, but these were pretty damn close! Not only are they fried up perfectly, but they're super meaty and just straight up delicious with or without the sauce. Honestly, I'd come back just for this!-- BAYRITTO - Choice of Meat with Crispy Tater Tots, Pico de Gallo, Cheese, and their Hula Sauce...$9.75(https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hula-truck-santa-clara?select=GLmoebPsOwVgdA6U_birTQ)I've had this with their LECHON KAWALI (Crispy Pork Belly), KAHLUA PORK, and CHICKEN ADOBO and all three were terrific. I liked the crispiness of the fried pork belly (and the tots) and how the adobo didn't have a lot of vinegar to it, but the Kahlua Pork was my favorite, as it had a nice, peppery flavor to it. Add an egg for $1 if you want to "hula it up".-- HULA'S PLATE - Plate Lunch with Jasmine Rice, Mac Salad, and Choice of Meat...$10.75(https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hula-truck-santa-clara?select=A9ZTMf4G3a46WGn-8yv6jA)Apparently, getting the PORK TOCINO (Sweet Marinated Pork) was the right call, as I got the last scoop! The sweetness got to be a bit much after a while, but I thought this was pretty good (super juicy). As for the mac salad, it was fine but nothing all that special.Beyond how good I've found the food from the Hula Truck to be, I was just as impressed with how fast the service is here. Most food trucks are decently quick, but it felt like my orders have come out especially quick from these guys. Perfect for grabbing a quick lunch on the go...and to get my hands on their amazingly good Hula Truck! Whenever I see these guys around, it's hard for me to pass them up. Especially if it means getting a shot at finally trying their Da Situation totchos!FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

Before making a trip please be aware this address is incorrect and takes you into a automotive business parking lot. From the reviews I can see no one had claimed this business. There hasn't been a review in a long time. Either they're only listed on Instagram or are no longer in business. I was unable to locate them on Facebook.

Mannnnn I love this spot lol- I get excited whenever I hear their truck is in town which means I can get myself a bayrito/bayrrito (however it's spelled)- tater tots in a burrito?! Heck. YES.As of now, it's $9.75 for a bayrito or Da Situation (no tortilla, basically loaded tater tots), and +$1 for a fried egg incorporated. You have meat choices of: chicken adobo, pork tocino, lechon kawali (fried pork belly), and kalua pork.I've gone with the bayrito twice now- the first time it was a little oily, but the second time just really hit the spot without as much oil. The meat and tater tots are combined beautifully that I get both in every bite! (With pico de gallo too)Don't forget to grab some mango sriracha on the side- they have little container cups for you to add it if you like it on the side or are on the go!

I was so excited to try the food here, but my dish had hair in it! I ordered the chicken adobo omelette, and it was a huge portion! There was a lot of rice in it and not much chicken, but the chicken that I did eat was flavorful and tender. But the overall dish was a little bland. After eating about 1/4 of it, I discovered the hair in my food! It was so gross.

We ate at this truck in the Levi Stadium today. All 3 of us are horribly sick with food poisoning. We left early and throwing up driving. This is the only food we ate there. Terrible!
