Fiji Fry House is between a Salvadoran bakery at the end of the block and a car repair shop across the street. The shop has an American and Fiji flag at it's side, the only decor visible. The food differs from other Fiji eats i've tasted. The food here has it's distinctness and it's influences from Indian food.Offerings: appetizers, curry tacos, Fiji fried chicken, curry rice box, ala carte, desserts, drinks...Drill: order by phone or at window, pay, food cooked to order. Eats: bhajia (9.75)-similar to pakora. Distinct in having thin flour coating, not a thick batter. 4 pieces of grounded spinach, veggies are moist throughout not dry. Has a chutney dipping sauce. Lamb & potato curry (19.75)-crunchy papadum wafer with flavorful vegetable pulao rice of fresh kachumber, pickled veggies, tumeric to soak up masala gravy. -lamb & potato in tomato and spicy masala gravy adds a spicy kick. Very fulfilling. *couple of tables nearby to dine on. **many entrees have a fusion theme combing Indian & Fiji cooking techniques..da best of 2 cuisines.

The fried chicken sandwich is THAT good. It's fried to order (order ahead if you don't want to wait). The bun is buttery, the pickles light and crispy, the mustard tangy but the star is the perfectly seasoned, crunchy, light, juicy chicken. It's so good, that even my picky eater liked it. I mean, he liked the mustard too and that was a first for us. We also got the bhajia, seasoned fritters made with spinach and other veggies served with a tamarind sauce. So good. The size had the perfect crispy to creamy ratio, and they are delicious. We also ordered the ice tea and a pineapple jarritos. For dessert we had gulab jamun, warm, fragrant, and sweet dough balls in syrup. Yum. There's only 2 tables outside, but lots of ledges to sit too. Perfect for delivery and takeout. They are now doing delivery on week days which is awesome.

Great chicken!!Fried chicken sandwich- huge and on point! The crisp and flavorful curry breading paired with the surprisingly juicy chicken breast was great! The sandwiches are fried to order so best believe you get a fresh one, the aspect of freshly fried means that the batter was so light and crisp! Pickles and flavored mayo brought depth to the whole thing. Bread was spongy like in n out and ghee buttery. This was good enough to bring to my picky Asian family and drop by multiple times. Mango Lentil Dahl- savory, refreshing, with a kickOwner very nice and takes the time to explain the menu itemsLocation is in the neighborhood with sus parking but the seating is clean and nice on the sidewalk with fake bushesOverall definitely would return, it's a great place and I love supporting small business

Just found out about this Pacific joint very close to us so had to try it this weekend. As everyone says, parking can be hard but just go into one of the residential side streets and you'll find a spot.Only opened weekends for now but they say they'll be extending that soon. Guy is hi took our order was very friendly and helpful. We got the mango dal, bhajia and chana taco (a nice plant-based taco). Nice flavors and they traveled well to go. The dal was a hearty portion which is nice.Would love to see them expand their menu a bit, along with their open days. Can't wait to try again soon!

Fiji Fry House is a little hidden gem in San Leandro. They offer yummy Indo-Fijian eats. This was my first time trying Fijian food, and it was super tasty. A few yummy vegan choices for our vegan friends. The Fuji fried chicken sandwiches were delicious, I'm craving one right now! It had a hint of masala and the crispness of the chicken was really good. @fijifryhouse is only open on the weekends, so if you're in San Leandro, y'all need to check them out. Don't forget to get me a fried chicken sando and a refreshing Pacific iced tea. Enjoy!

Recent find after visiting Evergreen Nursery along San Leandro Blvd heading towards Oakland. Small, corner takeout spot that's currently, only open on the weekends but definitely worth the stop.Signature item is the FIJIAN FRIED CHICKEN! SANDWICH - Juicy chicken breast, crispy on the outside with aromatic Fijian spices, marsala mayo and sweet pickles. I'm guessing the chicken is dredged with chickpea flour as it has a different texture than a flour coating. It's different but delicious and a repeat chicken sandwich!Other items:VEGETABLE BHAJIA (similar to a pakora) - fried vegetable fritters were received dark in color and was afraid they were burnt. Fortunately they tasted just fine with crispy exterior, soft interior and nicely spicedVEGETARIAN SAMOSA - Indian spiced potatoes and peas wrapped in a pastry and fried into a crispy crust. Delicious and retained its crispness for a to-go order. Both items accompanied with a tamarind chutney. With any fried items, best eaten there (not the best location) though everything travelled well after a 15 min drive. No indoor dining and set up for online ordering (go to their website) or at the walk-up window for take out. 2 tables outside with BART zipping overhead. Overall, ***4 - 4.5 stars ***Service from the young lady was friendly and welcoming. Street parking not the easiest and my advice is when you get to the roundabout, make a quick right turn onto West Broadmoor. Owner mentioned they also offer curbside pickup which is a great option! Otherwise you're taken to narrow streets with zero street parking!

Absolutely delicious meal. Discovered this place from an ad I got on Nextdoor and saw it was opening this weekend, so my husband and I decided to head over and try it today, March 25, their first day of service.Fiji Fry House is located on a street corner, but it's just a window where you place your order with some tables and chairs set outside on the sidewalk. You're right against San Leandro Boulevard and the BART tracks, so it's pretty loud in the area. It's definitely better for taking your food to-go (everything is served in takeout packaging anyway), but we sat at one of the tables in the sun.We went with the bhajia appetizer ($8.75), the Fiji fried chicken sandwich ($14.75), the chicken bowl ($15.75), a bottle of water ($2.50), and the Fiji Pops raspberry soda ($3.50). Our total with tip was $58.90. The guy at the counter was super nice to everyone who stopped by, and our food came out pretty fast. He also gave everyone who ordered fried foods a heads up that because they fry everything fresh, it'd take 12-15 minutes for the fried food to come out.All of our food was delicious. I'd never had bhajia before but thought they were great. The fritters weren't oily and had so many bright, vibrant flavors. The sweet chutney served on the side added a nice contrast to the savory flavors. The chicken bowl was a generous portion and had quite a few chunks of chicken. The rice was filled with veggies and had all the flavors of the spices and chicken, and a good kick of heat. The cucumber and carrot raita provided a nice cooling sensation and some brightness to the dish. The fried chicken was juicy inside and very crispy outside, and was also a generous hunk of breast. The masala mayo and ghee-buttered and toasted bun made this a unique take on the fried chicken sandwich.Only thing I wasn't crazy about was the raspberry soda. It was medicinal and way too sweet, and the plastic bottle was too soft, making it difficult to get a good grip on the bottle to open it. It sort of burst when it opened. I didn't finish it.Soda aside, this was a fantastic meal that I would repeat any day of the week. Absolutely delicious in every way and we left full and satisfied. The man at the counter (who I believe is the owner) told my husband that for now, they'll be weekends only, but when summer comes they're hoping to be open more days of the week.I took one star off for the location; the loud street and BART make it hard to have a conversation, and parking isn't great if you're driving here. And if it's cold and windy like it was today, despite the sun, eating outside isn't as fun.Regardless, I highly recommend checking out Fiji Fry House. Amazing food and nice people.

Finally got the chance to try the samosa at Fiji Fry House in San Leandro and am not disappointed. Dough is airy and flacky, filling is flavorful and a little spicy, chutney dipping sauce evens out the spice. I have been thrilled with all their dishes so far, still more to try. I'll be back!
