"This place has always been on my bookmarks and I got to finally try it on Valentine's day. We got here right when they opened at 5pm, and was able to get a table inside. super cozy and romantic spot with tasteful decor. Despite it being a busy day, the servers were still attentive and provided great service.Fresh Ankimo (5/5) Some of the freshest I've had in the Bay Area. Dare I say as good as Japan? We were super happy with this dish. Highly recommend. Treasure Box (5/5) Just enough for two people, the treasure box is a must get when you come here. We got the Valentine's day box that came with abalone, uni + ikura over rice, king salmon, wagyu nigiri, Toro nigiri, Hamachi, oysters with caviar, sea bass, and a savory egg pudding dish topped with a dungeness crab. Mango Salmon Roll (4/5)salmon was fresh and the mango was sweet and complimented the roll so well.Fancy Oysters (5/5) topped with quail egg, ikura, ponzu and green onion. i really enjoyed these as well and even put some of the Ankimo on top overall, great experience for our first time. I will definitely be back!"
"Traditional, and Unique Udon! You can choose to sit either indoors or outdoors at this restaurant. The server was friendly and he recommended some menu items. Aside from regular udon, they also offered creative options like ramen-style or pasta-inspired udon. With so many choices, it's a great spot for first-timers trying udon.Beef Sukiyaki Udon:Since it was cold, I went with a hot pot-style udon to warm up. The slightly sweet broth became even more flavorful with a sprinkle of shichimi chili powder from the table--it added a nice kick and tasted amazing!"

"Came here on Valentine's Day to grab a quick dinner. This is in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking. We wanted to do take out, but we kept calling for over 20 mins and we couldn't get through so we decided to just go in. It was crazy busy for take out orders and they were running over 20-30 mins behind. We were seated right away, but our appetizer did take over 45 mins to be served and our rolls took over an hour. The servers were nice and I was trying to be understanding that they were running behind and already had some really rude customers that had screamed at them. Chicken Karaage - 5/5 - the chicken was good and crispy when it came out and I really enjoyed the dipping sauce.Philadelphia Roll - 4/5 - the portions were pretty big considered to other placesCalifornia Deluxe Roll - 4/5 - pretty basic #1 Roll - 4/5 - it had a lot of flavor and tasted really fresh."
"Sushi Koya is a hidden gem when it comes to Bay Area Japanese cuisine. You can tell the quality of fish is high and they really take care of their customers here. If you want to order the biggest sushi roll you have ever seen, it's on the menu called Monstar. Be sure to split with a friend, because you won't be able to finish it yourself unless you're a true whale."
"I love sushi, but it's expensive, so I don't go out often to enjoy it. We arrived here about thirty minutes before they closed. The restaurant was empty, so we were seated right away. As with many sushi restaurants, the menu was extensive and it was difficult to decide what to get. We settled on the spicy salmon roll, Rainbow roll, and soft shell crab appetizer - nothing fancy. They brought out some complimentary miso soup and it was too salty to finish, so we took a few sips and set it aside. They brought out the spicy salmon roll and rainbow roll before the appetizer, which I guess was ok, but I would have preferred it the other way around. Anyway, the fish was mediocre - nothing special or memorable. It got the job done. The soft-shell crab appetizer was overcooked. They must have fried it for too long to the point where the crab was chewy. This appetizer was so greasy it was difficult to finish. They made no secret that they were in a rush to close the restaurant, giving me my check and reminding me they were closing the doors in five minutes. This is my second time to this restaurant, and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to come back unless I was in the area and they were one of the only places open. Like I said, the food wasn't bad, but it also didn't taste that fresh either compared to other sushi restaurants I've been to across the Bay Area. Quality was right in the middle. I would recommend people try this place, but certainly don't go out of your way for it."
"Grilled salt salmon is the best lunch option in town!I am surprised there is such an authentic Japanese restaurant nearby the area. Their lunch menu definitely features some of my favorite item including grilled fishes.I have tried grilled Hokke and salmon, however, salmon is my favorite. It comes with three different side dishes. Best of all, the soup that it came with was NOT miso soup! Finally a refreshing change. At night time its a traditional Japanese izakaya."
"Food is always great and service too! I cant wait to try their other menu. It's a must to try this place! Minimal parking but you can have another option to park when you are done with your grocery shopping you might go ahead and get your quick lunch or dinner in this location."
"Delicious and reasonably priced food, attentive service, and bustling atmosphere. A go-to for sushi in South City."
"Perfect non-AYCE shabu shabu in the heart of Japantown, San Jose. Nice little place with friend and attentive service. The food is good, the meats and the veggies are fresh. We opted for the medium size of meat and that was plenty. I come up and get my tattoo at the shop a block up and been wanting to try Shabu Time for a while now. May have to stop in again when I fly up from LA for my next session."
"Location, service, and food all great. I feel like this place is a hidden gem in Oakland for some bomb sushi and very reasonable prices for the Bay Area. Anytime anybody wants sushi, I take them here and have gotten always had a good time. They also do all you can drink sake which is fun but be ready to drink cuz they really be filling up the sake. I like that it's near lake Merritt and in a walking area so u can take a nice walk after eating so much sushi instead of just exiting into a parking lot and getting in your car. Place is great and a GO-TO for good sushi and vibes"
"The service was efficient and the staff was kind. I had two rolls (salmon skin roll and crispy crunch roll) plus the seaweed salad. Nothing spectacular about the seaweed salad, but they have the tastiest miso soup I've had to date! The rolls were very good."

Last min plan for Valentine's Day night. My cousin and I decided to grab dinner together. I was a little worried we might not find a place to eat that's not crowded or $$We arrived to Ichika right when they opened at 5:15pm and there were a few people waiting at the front already. We got seated in 15-20mins? And we did not make a reservation.... So we got lucky!Very cozy setting, so perfect for date night. The staffs were all friendly. Our last item which was the valentines treasure box didn't arrive for a while so we had to ask about it 15mins later or more. Which is understandable because it was Valentine's Day and they did have a full house.I will for sure return again ! Everything was so fresh! Lalalove their monk fish! Best I've ever had

Best dinner I've had in Mountain View! We visited on a Friday evening and waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The interior was surprisingly classy, with exposed brick walls and cool lighting fixtures/panels of succulents. For drinks, I ordered a Lychee Soda which came in a fun little light-up pouch! The flavor was tasty as well, and I liked that it wasn't too tart. We also got an order of Chicken Karaage to share as an appetizer. The portion size was generous and the chicken was perfectly cooked. However, the tiny dollop of sauce it came with wasn't nearly enough - like, it was almost comically small. For my entree, I chose the Mentai Cream Sauce Udon and my friend got the Tonkotsu Udon. The Mentai Cream Sauce Udon was insane! It was the perfect crossover of a creamy, cheesy pasta dish and a traditional Japanese Udon. The flavors of the parmesan cheese and cod roe went together so well, and it was super fulling. The regular size was perfect for me! My friend also loved his Tonkotsu Udon. Service was impressively fast and our server was very attentive. I dropped my napkin, and he was handing me a new one before it even hit the ground. Overall, an awesome experience - will be returning!

I like the idea of conveyor belt sushi and I like the Hello Kitty decor in the restaurant, but maybe it was an off night when my friends and I came here. We were left with what I consider a lackluster experience.Papasan Rolls is located inside a plaza. There's parking in front, but it's a small section of parking compared to the rest of the plaza so you may have better luck parking on the other side and then walking over. The restaurant itself is relatively small. One look inside and you see the entire restaurant. They do try to utilize most of the space, but it's definitely not for large gatherings. There's a few different types of rolls going along the conveyor and then you can use the tablet to order additional items to your table. I must admit - I was enticed by the rainbow lights and the elevated mood of hanging with my friends, but the food to me was pretty average tasting. There was also an issue this night with our tablet because while we ordered food, only some of the food arrived at the table and the other foods seemed to have gone to another due to a mix up in numbers. The server was apologetic and quickly rectified it by getting the food re-ordered, but I just wasn't impressed by the flavor. Overall, 3 stars because it's a fun option if you're with friends or kids, but I wouldn't come here thinking I'm going to have the best sushi.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impressively quick! I'll definitely be returning for more - it's clear this place knows how to deliver exceptional flavors. As a bonus, they treated us to a complimentary scoop of green tea ice cream, which was the perfect finishing touch. I think I've just discovered one of my new favorite local spots in Newark!

Cozy little spot! Service is always on point! Our waitress was super friendly! The food is always fresh! I've had their chicken teriyaki bento box, chicken katsu. I've introduced several of my coworkers to this spot and they all have liked it.

Ok so I started a new job and for lunch they wanted to take me out I chose Kazuma After eating I didn't feel bad but once I got home from work I started feeling illI thought due to me changing my diet recently (not having red meats) maybe it was due to that Really bad runs all night I've been fasting for 24 hours before having a meal this was the only food I ate after my fastNext day I wanted to go out for lunch againSo I decided sushi would be healthy again and I was feeling slightly better Man I pull up They food inspector was leaving and had placed a closed sign on the door due to them failing the inspection While he was walking away the woman was chasing him down pleading While that was happening The main chef very very angrily ripped the closed sign off the door!Like he was gunna disregard the inspectors decision Back to the lady hostessShe's begging the inspector Then another cook runs up to him as what I could see trying to bribe him Then he talks at them he's is going to call the police and to stay away at from him The chef comes out yells hella loudly at the woman and then the inspector enters his vehicle Would not eat here No wonder I didn't feel good They weee closed down for a good reason Idk if I should consider a lawyer lol

"Darn, guess I was a bit off. Still a popular place. But Korean owned. Heard the owner speak Japanese before. Came here for a quick dinner and was disappointed in the taste. Nabeyaki was salty and chicken wasnt great. Had two roles and both of the salmon and mango on top was cut like a novice who didnt know how to cut. Not sure if they were training people? Wasnt the usual waitresses either... it was an ajima (older aunt, maybe the female owner) and a hispanic lady. Got the teriyaki kids meal.. was ok. Less sauce would be preferable but chicken was drenched. Yikes... perhaps this was a one off..."
"Beautiful fresh sushi served with unique flavors. Quick, friendly service in relaxing and serene setting. Our favorite was Sweet Fantasy roll with balsamic vinegar, but so delicious we didn't get a pic before it was gone. Definitely great sushi"
"Really cute and cozy Japanese izakaya. Food was all tasty and authentic. Ordered the negitoro roll, chicken nanban, salmon ochazuke, and the salmon sashimi bento. Fish tasted high quality and chicken was juicy. The California roll was also surprisingly good, I'll definitely be back to try more of the dishes."
"Sizzling Lunch is conveniently located near our home, and I had often heard about its popularity. However, I hesitated to visit, assuming the vegetarian options would be limited--especially since their website only listed one. But I'm glad we finally gave it a try because I couldn't have been more wrong! The food was flavorful, and there were several vegetarian options to choose from. I started with the Cheese Corn, a skillet of sweet corn topped with a generous amount of melted cheese. It was rich and slightly sweet, but a dash of salt and pepper balanced the flavors nicely.Next, I tried the Potato Croquette with Curry Sauce, served on a sizzling plate with croquettes, rice, and vegetables. The curry was wonderfully spiced and truly elevated the dish. Adding some of their signature sauces took it to the next level. We also ordered the Cucumber Salad, which was refreshing and came with a tangy plum sauce (instead of the usual fish sauce). Other vegetarian items on the menu included Tofu with Curry and Tofu Pepper Rice, both of which I plan to try next time. One thing worth noting is that their website isn't up-to-date, as it doesn't reflect the variety of vegetarian dishes available. The service was exceptional. The staff patiently answered all my questions, walked us through the menu, and ensured we had a great first visit. With delicious food and such attentive service, we'll definitely be returning to Sizzling Lunch!"
"Never disappoints. Their sushi comes in big sizes with reasonable prices. We love coming to this sushi place whenever we visit the livermore outlets. Good service and good ambiance. May need some updates on the seats and the wall. This place looks old but still gets a lot of customers. Will certainly come back for more."
"Went to Kaki Sushi with my Son. Always good food. I ordered the Pork Katsu. My son ordered the Sashimi Deluxe dinner. And we split a Spicy Tuna and Spider roll.Started with Miso soup and green salad. I think it's pretty hard to screw up miso soup. And salad was a salad. My tonkatsu was very moist and came with a small container of tonkatsu sauce on the side with 3 slices of Takuan (pickled daikon). Tonkatsu also came with a small bowl of rice. My son's sashimi looked fresh. A good amount of 4 types of fish (Saba, Ahi, Sake, and Hamachi). The spicy tuna roll was 6 pieces. And I think the spider roll had 5 pieces. Little smaller portions than at other places but tasty. Service was good. Servers are always very nice and courteous. Food came out promptly. Was kinda surprised that my Tonkatsu came out before my son's sashimi dinner."
"Came by for dinner the other night and it was a world class experience. Wakuriya is a Japanese kaiseki restaurant with a Michelin 1 star located inside a casual strip mall in San Mateo, next to the freeway. Parking is plentiful in the private lot or on the residential street. There is a Tesla charger in the parking lot.Reservations start 30 days in advance with a first come first served message left on their answering machine at 12 am. An executive assistant, butler and/or concierge would be perfect for handling reservations for executives. Received a call from Mayoumi 30 days in advance during the late afternoon confirming my particulars including credit card information, dining preference along with food allergies. The dining room can seat ~16 people and features counter or table dining. The counter offers an open view of the kitchen with a request not to take photos of people inside the kitchen. The loo is high end with an option for Japanese or Charmin toilet paper along with a request to sit on their toilet.Despite the rather casual outside, the interior was intimate and high end with a few notable IKEA furnishing inside the kitchen, including their ALEX drawer set along with drawer liner.Meal started off with the Japanese tai snapper served with a salad. This was a light and refreshing way to start off the meal.Moved on to the appetizer course which consisted of trout with caviar, crab and salmon sushi along with duck breast with Italian black truffle. Each of the tiny morsels were well thought out although I found the duck breast over cooked..bummer.The sashimi course featured some type of sauce which was somewhat different than Japanese kaiseki's were they would serve this with fresh wasabi. The miso gratin may have been the weakest part of the meal featuring an overcooked lobster tail although the cauliflower and mushrooms were tasty. The sorbet was a light and refreshing palate cleanser. The main course featuring domestic wagyu beef, and egg and turnip was a pretty filing course although I felt that a Japanese wagyu would have been an even better option. The last savory course was a somen noodle soup with scallop and shrimp, including the head. This was a light and filing way to finish off the savory dishes.Meal ended off with a fuji apple with tofu-caramel sauce along with some baked cookies. Service throughout the meal was very attentive by the owner Mayoumi. Diners were mostly Chinese with the Mandarin ones being the only ones speaking in outdoor voices...~$210/head after tax and gratuity for a 3 hour kaiseki dinner."
"Another impressive sushi dinner Never disappointed and always fresh Reservation is a must"
"Croffle and chicken - 4/5, chicken is good, not a fan of the croffle, taste too much like croissant Ube mochi pancake - 3/5, but too dry and needs the syrup, good portion size though and my kiddo loves itPoutine - 3.5/5, a bit heavy and not a lot of short rib Okonomiyaki tots - 5/5, prefer this flavor a lot moreKurobuta - 5/5, really good but so expensive for 3 tiny sausages Butterfly pea lemonade 1/5, don't get it, just don't Lavender latte - 5/5, really good flavor and would get this again"
"Each time I'm here it makes me happy. The service is amongst the best and the food quality is great. This Outing was a DoorDash pickup for Kraft Kevin roll and. chirashiBoth items ordered via app but I didn't get the confirmation email so felt unsettled walking the the counter. Asked for my order and Boom!!!! Everything was there. Got it home and enjoyed to the fullest."
"On a busy Saturday night they were able to fit us in without a reservation. We waited about 10 mins and had a nice table toward the back. The interior is a nice balance of dark wood with high ceilings. Service was friendly though if there are a lot of take out orders the sushi chef can take longer. We like that there is both a sushi menu and some traditional dishes like katsu curry, which they say on the menu is homemade. It was all right, not sure if I would order again. Sushi was fresh. The spicy tuna was overwhelming spicy with no tuna taste. Negihama and also scallop nigiri were our favorites. With all of the restaurants in the area this is an okay chiice."
"Hands down one of my favorite spots in Oakland, this sushi restaurant (and more) is such a vibe! Very close to Piedmont Ave. and Kaiser Oakland, Judoku is the perfect spot to dine outdoors with friends, a date, or just playing catch-up with a girlfriend. The staff is so accommodating and friendly, the interior inviting, but the outdoor area..unlike any other sushi spot in the East Bay with fun art, instagrammable backdrops, and just a cool essence. Well done! The menu is massive ~ we ordered the Kakiage Tempura and Bento Boxes for an afternoon lunch and omg what a deal! You can choose 2 or 3 items, so naturally we chose 3 ~ the avocado roll, teriyaki chicken, and pork gyoza accompanied by miso soup, edamame, and rice. Add a salad for a couple bucks if you're dining in! The Kakiage Tempura is so unique, crispy, and one of the most delicious appetizers in the East Bay..I said it! Delicate fried squares of shrimp, sweet potato, yellow onion, shitake and other root veggies combined into one bite. Glorious! And the value of what you can get in the bento box has me coming back for more. I only did the avocado roll this time, but can't wait to try more of their specialty rolls soon. Delicious and clean pieces of teriyaki meat, and super yummy gyoza, not too greasy at all. If you're in the area, coming from an appointment, or looking for a unique yet vibrant change to your typical sushi experience, Judoku hits the mark every time."
"Very good.Very clean. They treated you like family Come try them, it will be epic!-edK"
"Food: super yummy and came out really fast! Get anything with salmon on it and you won't be disappointed. Every roll we got was fresh and smelled great :) You also get a free ice cream at the end! Service: THEY ARE SOOOOO NICE HERE. The staff is very attentive and the wait went by fast. They're always checking in with you too! Ambiance: Sometimes sushi places are cramped or the table feels small, but that's not the case here. We had plenty of space for a big plate of sushi and our own personal plates. I love how MJ is open until 12 too! Great for an after work dinner."
"I stopped by Poke Paradise while my car was being serviced and really enjoyed my meal! The store is small but the standard Chipotle-style experience where you make your way down the line of options. I went on a Saturday around lunchtime and there were only a couple of other people there.Everything seemed fresh and tasty! I took my order to go. There was plenty of parking since it's in a shared parking lot. Next time my car is being serviced, I'll be back!"
"Ukai continues to be our favorite family go-to restaurant with hearty lunch/dinner specials and fresh sushi rolls.Last night we sampled their Crazy Crab roll. It had a spicy kick to it (but not overwhelming) and the tobiko/soft shell crab on top gave a nice crunchy texture to the roll. We all approved!"
"I was happy to find this place open till 8:00pm on Thanksgiving day (an hour earlier than their normal business hours, but good enough for me). Ordered for pickup in advance. The restaurant had a cute atmosphere with indoor seating, no one dining in on this holiday evening, not surprisingly, but a handful of takeout orders were neatly bagged and sitting on the table, my order ready when I arrived. The staff grabbed my bag and politely handed it to me, a simple and smooth process.I really enjoyed the baked lobster roll, with shrimp and crab meat and a lobster mix (large flavorful chunks), and a nice kick from the spicy mayo. It was so delicious, and a decent size for a meal. Wow, I sometimes feel like all sushi spots are fairly the same, but this one stood out to me with the quality and taste. It was definitely memorable, and makes me wanna come back for more."
"Came by DASH while walking around downtown San Mateo, looking for dinner. We were seated promptly around 4:30pm. FOOD:We ordered some nigiri, Lion King roll, unagi fried rice and chicken karage. The fish tasted fresh and the roll was tasty. The chicken karage was juicy, not dry. The batter was thin, not super thick or cakey. The unagi fried rice came last, and by then, I was too full. Tasty, lots of flavor, and we had to take home the rest. SERVICE: Everyone was super friendly. Water and tea refilled when needed. Plates cleared when we needed space for more food. AMBIANCE: Cozy and warm. Overall, decent food and service."
"We did take out so can't speak to the ambience or service, but the food really hit the spot!! I think it's slightly on the pricier side, but the portion sizes were very large. There was a wide variety of different dishes for everyone!"
"Pros:Large Portions, really fast service. Food was piping hot. It's nice that they have this Japanese & korean restaurant in between the Vietnam shops in case you want to try something else. Tastes Homely. The high ceilings are a nice add to the restaurant Cons: Nothing that comes across, is it the best korean food I have had? No, but it's still pretty good for a quick bite."
"Picked up a Spicy Chicken plate, it came with rice, salad, a dressing, and soup. Very good portion of the chicken, given the plate is slightly on the expensive side. It was more of a chicken teriyaki flavor profile with a kick of spice to it (not sure what type of spicy sauce was used), but it tasted good. It was pretty saucy. Just about right for a dinner. I was not very fond of the miso soup, I felt it was a little overpowering for me.Overall I'd say 3.5/5. Nice ambience and a decent sized parking lot, a couple of other restaurants in the complex as well. They get the food ready pretty quick."
"We had the omakase and it was delicious and beautiful! 10 beautiful pieces of fish, all of them with unique flavor profiles (some delicate and light, some strong and fatty- all delicious). Our wait staff was super attentive and efficient, and the atmosphere they created was fun and welcoming. The parking situation is basically street parking, we didn't have a problem finding a spot a bit down the way. We came on a cold night and got the hot tea- was perfect to accompany the meal."
"This place is so good and the meat quality is amazing. Staff is on point and gets things done. Super duper love this place. The hubs, Skye and Matthew and I love this place more than other hot pots because of quality."
