"It's a stable in the community. I've been here a handful of times. It's a cafeteria style, so line up and order and pay at the end of them plating your food. Huge space. Great for big parties - make reservations. Great bar too. Saturdays are known for their prime rib meal which is about $26. Come early - for lunch or afternoon because by dinner time you risk of it being by sold out. I love their corned beef dinner meal. It comes with mashed potatoes, dinner roll and a side and it's $19. You can mix meats if it's the price, which was nice since I got to try pastrami too! Prepare for food coma, cause this place is quite filling. The service is good. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The bar makes a good hot toddy!"
"Food is good quality.Prices are already very expensive and 20pct fee is added to orders (both in person and to go orders have the added fee)"

"Oakland, and the East Bay in general, has lots of breakfast options. I've been to Mama's twice now and both experiences were fantastic. The food is solid, very tasty, and has lots of options. The jalapeño and carrot salsa on the table is a generous addition, not too spicy and definitely filled with flavor crystals.I loved the NY sharp cheddar and cremini mushroom omelette, banked with home fries and a slice of Acme sourdough toast. The service was friendly and attentive the whole time --which says a lot at 11am on a gorgeous Saturday morning. The crew feels like family and they clearly know how to run a morning rush that feels easy and well coordinated. I also like how real the place feels. Black and red floor tiles from the 50's? Ornamental headboards from some past iteration as a Chinese restaurant, and super comfy seats and booths.Solid."
"Peanuts has been a tradition for me long before I knew I was a foodie, when I was just a college student looking for the cheapest meal and drink.... Just recently i started frequenting peanuts again and I tried their korean fried chicken and chicken teriyaki. Great portions and solid ingredients. Perfect for a quick lunch. During the pandemic peanuts closed and renovated... it looks so great and modern inside now! I'm so happy they kept the sorority and fraternity paddles. I'm happy to keep supporting them because they are a critical part of San Jose culture. whether you are there to drink some beer or fill your tummy with a hearty breakfast, you will always get great prices, portions and customer service. Love the new remodel and miss Minh."
"Service and food is awesome! We had driven by this place many times and finally decided to try it two weeks ago based on the reviews. We have been back twice already. Great for kids as well! The ambiance is homey and nostalgic."
"Idk why all Holders locations always have only 3/3.5 stars. I've found it to be a great example of what a diner should be - a cozy place with friendly people, plenty of options and tasty food. Maybe Yelpers are foodies, and are therefore unimpressed with Holder's salt-of-the-earth vibes? Here's my take - great for families or for when you want comforting, decent food with no fuss. I usually get a scramble or an omelette, and a single pancake on the side. I recommend the fresh orange juice and the garlic fries. One thing - I wish they had an espresso machine so I could get lattes! They only have black drip coffee. But this may be asking too much of a diner."

My husband found out about this place online and we wished we had come earlier! From what it sounds like with my friends, this is a staple and gem of a restaurant in the community for years! We came during the Christmas season and the restaurant was decorated beautifully. It had a homey feeling with all the Christmas lights. Parking was pretty easy, plenty of parking spots that wrap around and the back of the restaurant. It's a cafeteria style dining establishment so they don't even expect tips. I really enjoyed seeing the food in front to choose and the line moved so quickly. I ordered the roast beef with the mac and cheese side. It came with a bread roll and butter and mashed potatoes with gravy. It was so delicious and I devoured it all. Seating is open and the employee told us to leave our tray with our dishes on the table.

Laurel District is not a neighborhood we would frequent (apart from a visit to Jo's Modern Thai, which is excellent btw) and we'd always be pleasantly delighted with its food offerings, and Sequoia is no exception. We randomly found this place after doing a bit of brunch search on Eater and local Oakland websites. Strangely enough I had never heard of this place. After browsing at multiple sticky buns and gorgeous colorful hearty meals posted by enthusiastic foodies we knew this place had already won our hearts. We showed up closer to 9am and thankfully there was not a line out the door. The diner was brimming with livelihood, and we admired their tall inviting ficus and money tree plants placed by the entrance. Our host quickly seated us and brought out water for us.They serve High Wire Coffee - bottomless coffee - so we quickly jumped on that caffeine train while planning our brekkie plates. With choices after choices, it was quite difficult making a final decision. I settled for the goat cheese omelette with biscuit while my husband with his usual chilaquiles. And of course we got the pecan sticky bun. Omg. Do not pass on the sticky bun. We took one bite and it took us away on a heavenly journey. The dough was incredibly soft with the right amount of syrup and pecan crusting. None of that Cinnabon sickening sweetness. The chilaquiles was done just right, with light coasting of the tomatillo salsa verde. Hints of spiciness came through but without being overwhelming. My goat cheese omelette was lovely as well, nicely herbed. There were diced tomatoes on top - reddest and fairest of them all - most succulent tomatoes I haven't had in a long while. The potato hash accompaniment was wonderfully crispy. And last but not the least, my biscuit was a buttery, flaky golden perfection that came with a good mouth feel.A few bites in we were already generating a list of foodie friends and family whom we would bring here next. Excitement abound.Service was attentive and friendly. Would most definitely come back here!Street parking was not an issue at all. What more could one ask for??

Really solid breakfast and lunch food. Omelettes are good, burgers are good, sandwiches and burgers are good too. I like the potatoes and biscuits. The biscuits and mushroom gravy are a favorite, as well as the spinach and mushroom omelette and chicken sandwich. They have house made salsa if you ask for it which is definitely worth it.

Remodel and a facelift?!?! Not going to lie, I was concerned when I found out Peanuts was remodeling. The old dining room and decor scream nostalgia and bring back nothing but great memories of my college days.My concerns was laid to rest quickly! When I visited, I found myself recalling "where things used to be" and their old layout. No more random tables all over the place, it's an open dining area with bar stool seating, larger tables, and some booths against the wall. They still have large TVs and the jukebox...most importantly, they kept many of the old vintage fraternity signs on the walls! (I will miss the random Budweiser posters though lol)No more ordering direct from the cooks and having them scribble a ticket that one and only Myun can decipher! You order directly at the counter and can now pay with card. Menu is still largely the same. The old brown board is gone (they have actual menus now) and they added tons of new dishes. Breakfast served all day, sandwiches, burgers, and rice plates. Of course - beer as well! They no longer serve my old favorite though...the "beef teriyaki with rice & fries". During my gym days, that was my ultimate carb up meal! Prices have gone up too throughout the year but hey that's everywhere! It's still a very affordable place. Portions are large and you'll be hard pressed to find better value around campus!I literally made it through college because Peanuts kept me fed for pennies and dollars throughout the years. Will forever be grateful!Final Piece of Donovan Life Advice? I will always bus my own table when I eat here...OG Peanuts Customer!

The menu has a lot to choose from. The wait staff is very accommodating. The only thing I think should be changed is the handicap parking should be closer to the front door.

Chili verde is very good! Scrambles really aren't my thing cuz they are always overcooked imo so I did not try. Hash browns are mid. Not crispy for either of us. Coffee is decent. Pancakes are solid!Service is very quick.Classic spot would be back if in the area.

Had to go and try the Breakfast burger and black beans with a cup of coffee. Then got a couple of pieces of the famous Blue Berry Coffee cake to go and I was very satisfied with the food, the service my waiter was a (TOKIAO) same name as me, his name is Miguel. LOL!! the place was packed up in the front and Miguel took me to the back section where there was more room for me to limp around in. It makes a difference for us that are phyisically challanged. Made my ambiance pleasant. The restaurant is right on a corner curve turn like street next to a gas station and hotel. So it took some strategy driving to get me in but over all mission was accomplished. I had my meal and took 2 coffee cakes home to go and stopped by my lady's work on the way home and surprised her in the parking lot with a delicious yummy from Hobee's. She was very happy. Made valentines day a little special. I will be back and try the other foods on the menu.

"Service and food were both awesome. A classic business that has been around for 50 years. Really enjoyed Sunnyvales Quesadilla. Hostess and waitress were great and food was laser fast and well done. Anytime I am in Silicon for business I'll definitely stop back in. Thank you!"
"Awesome place with great food and service the Avocado toast is great and everything else on the menu is good"
"I hosted an impromptu surprise birthday brunch, and by that -- I mean, I decided I was going to do it about 10 days prior for a party of seventeen people. I called the restaurant and left a message for a reservation and the owner, Kimberlin, promptly returned my call.I told her what I had in mind and she was accommodating from the gate. In addition to reserving space for our party, she also offered linens and centerpieces (with an extra surcharge, of course) to help add color to our event. She texted me photos of past events to give me an idea of what her and her team could offer. I reviewed them and decided to keep it simple -- she made it easy and so effortless on my end.The day of the event couldn't have gone better. We surprised the birthday guy successfully and we all had a blast catching up celebrating over a great brunch and mimosas. Everyone ordered something different and there were no complaints around the food or drinks. The staff attending to our group were attentive and quick considering we also had kids that needed extra items like napkins, etc.All of my guests enjoyed their drinks too (they have a full bar) -- from Mimosas to Bloody Marys -- I would say everyone understood the assignment of "Sunday Fun Day" and were grateful for some good food, amazing company, and a just a beautiful experience all around.Kudos to Kimberlin and her team for hosting us. Thank you for being a leader in hospitality and keeping the Mimosas brand alive and well. We look forward to returning for more casual brunches! P.S. although I did not personally order the Bottomless Mimosa deal, I was told by one of my guests that the "bottomless" applies for the first 90 minutes upon ordering which means anyone who takes on this endeavor needs to come prepared :)"
"Darling diner with great food. Probably the best French toast in the Bay! Service was very pleasant and attentive. My friend had the club and fries. She said it was excellent!"
"I had been before, and had a pretty good breakfast. So, I decided to go back. We like supporting small local businesses when possible. Our experience probably was our last. The service was definitely better than the food, which was just ok. Everybody smiled and seemed friendly and helpful. The wait was short. When our food came, we weren't impressed. My omelette was flat. I'm used to them being fluffy and thicker. But, nonetheless, it was cooked as I ordered. The potatoes didn't have onions or bell peppers in them. My wife's breakfast and daughter's hamburger was similar .... Not bad. Just not wonderful and flavorful. The last thing was the price for the food. Without the tip, it was about $72 for 3 people. That's pricey for breakfast. I may go back by myself to give them another shot."
"The ingredients made teriyaki chicken stir fry so delicious. The salad with tomatoes was very fresh. Our waiter, Chris, was friendly, accommodating, and very friendly. He made our dining experience extra special. There are lots of comfortable booths."
