This is a small, locally owned one-man shop. I admire the entrepreneurship but the service is slow (he told us 15 minutes for takeout but it took 45.) The food quality varies by dish - we ordered a burger (not good), a shrimp salad (shrimp was perfectly cooked, generous distribution) and a catfish po'boy (good portion, came with fries, but the bread was not crispy and a bit soggy from being in the takeout container.) The prices were reasonable for lunch.I'm not sure how much of the food quality is because we ordered 3 dishes and there was a single person behind the counter so they were not all done at once but takeaway at the same time.

Food - 5 StarsWe had breakfast and the food was SO GOOD, we ordered lunch to go! Salmon Croquettes were flavorful, fresh and fried to a golden crunchy brown. Amazing. Grits were a star! Creamy thick consistency, with a buttery savory delicious flavor. So fulfilling. Eggs, perfectly seasoned, peppery! Delicious! Didn't need to doctor a thing. This man can cook. Not up for debate! Service - 5 starsChef Vernon is so kind and hospitable. He made me feel as if we were in his home. He graciously offered some other items on his menu and OMG!! His oxtails!! My second pic tells you all you need to know on how that tasting went. I can't WAIT to eat dinner tonight. But I'm so full from Breakfast! Who does that?!? Goes in for breakfast and leaves with dinner?!? #greedyAmbiance - Restaurant is small and unassuming. But it's Chef Vernon that makes it homey! I like it when the owners engage with their clients. It just makes the experience so much more relaxed and familial. I'll be back, maybe midweek. Don't judge me!! Get into it. You will not be sorry. Thank you, Chef Vernon. I'm so looking forward to dinner tonight.

First of all, this is a black owned business so already I am enthused to show my support and love on a service that provides positive representation for minorities and caters to its community at the same time. Secondly, for it to be a one man show, the owner and operator of this restaurant does a pretty damn good job of taking and making orders all on his own. Both online and in person. He makes phenomenal oxtails. I got chicken wings this time and loved them. Unfortunately I do not like the fact that he doesn't have regular plain cornbread because I prefer mine without the jalopeños, however the chicken and macaroni are always very tasty. You can eat inside the dining area if you wish, but I chose to go eat in the car so I could be as messy as I wanted with a little privacy. I tore my plate down as quickly as I got it so there were no leftovers but I'm not upset. I was full and happy.

Stopped by here last Friday with my brother to grab breakfast, before shopping for our annual BBQ. The restaurant inside is small with about 4 tables and then there is a tent with 2 or 3 more two seater tables out front. The neighborhood is what it is, but no extracurricular activities that morning.I ordered the eggs, grits and salmon croquettes (now that I think about it, he never asked how I wanted my eggs prepared-so not sure if there are options outside of scrambled with hella pepper). The grits were a good consistency and hella buttery. The salmon croquettes were not store bought frozen patties and I was pleased, but they could use a bit more seasoning. My brother had the grits, links and eggs and he was ok with them.Prices are cool the staff was friendly and the food was alright.

New little breakfast spot in the area. I hadn't noticed it changed from the old soul food spot that it used to be until my boyfriend pointed it out to me! We were starving and wanted breakfast food! Not that fast shit. So we came in. Owner was outside talking to someone, as he seen us approaching he ran in. Which is great customer service to me! Upon walking in, it was a little messy inside on counter where you order and inside the kitchen. The place is small, I think I seen maybe 4-6 tables. So you can dine in! I'd take out only because I tend to get claustrophobic. Owner greeted us and asked what we would like. We looked at the menu for a minute. I chose the Al's Special! I love me some rice with ground beef! For me personally the it was too eggy. I thought it was more of a rice plate, turns out it's more eggs and ground beef lite rice. I added onions as it doesn't come with. For me it was a miss. I thought ground beef had flavor, I'm just not a egg type of girl. Don't judge me! My baby ordered the fruity pebbles pancakes with eggs and sausage. It was good.. only disappointing factor was they didn't give us any butter, syrup or even jelly! So pancakes were just dry fruity pebbles pancakes. I think the owner was short staffed as we only seen him in the kitchen. So that's why I'll say our first time here wasn't a total success. So we'll definitely be back to support the business and try something else. Hopefully they are staffed up next time.

"Bojax Kitchen" is a small eatery in East Oakland that serves up delicious freshly prepared meals for breakfast and lunch. The other day I was in the area looking for an address, and noticed this new restaurant. It had already closed for the day, but for some reason I remembered the name. So yesterday I had a craving for a traditional breakfast, I was flipping thru my DoorDash app, and it popped up...."Bojax Kitchen." I ordered the French Toast w/ eggs and sausage. Positives:The French Toast was great! Three thick slices, cinnamon flavor, moist and still hot. The two slices of breakfast sausage were juicy, with a strong flavor. Didn't taste like frozen sausage. The side of scrambled eggs were perfectly blended.Negatives:You forgot the butter and syrup in the order. Menu doesn't say it's extra. -------------------------------------------------------------BTW, I watched their video, Bojax Kitchen boasts the "best soul food in Oakland!"So, overall a 4-star experience. Located on MacArthur Blvd near 61st Ave. Near Mills College.

Bojax is a lovely little place on seminary! Every time I order in person it's amazing!!! I've had a few mistakes happen when I order for delivery such as not receiving one or more of my sides, but they always are willing ti work on it or fix it. Next time you're near give it a try!!! I always get chicken dinner or fish!

Had a taste for oxtails which I had not had for the longest ~. It wasn't like the ones my family made but then I'm 75 years old and my 27 year old granddaughter brought me to this restaurant. I got the oxtails, which were tender and juicy. Like bacon in the old days, I got to sucking on the bones. Uuumm they were delicious. It's run back one man, who works from sunrise til long after the sun sets. You all need to try this one out. It may be small and that shouldn't surprise you. The man be burning.
