We passed by this place randomly having already eaten! We were bummed, but are super excited about coming back and eating here properly. However! We did order beignets to go and they were delicious! Powdered sugar to the max and that's it. No filling, nothing but a really good, really simple beignet.

Decided to treat myself today so I went to Angeline's In Berkeley. First time dining in here, I've had takeout before and it was phenomenal. So I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. The inside of the restaurant was stunning, decorated with pictures of New Orleans and Mardi gras decor strung about. It's really quite beautiful and jazz music played on the speakers. When I was seated, I ordered the fried catfish (which is my favorite) and I ordered a side of Mac and cheese with a side of green beans as well. When the food came I was so happy. Nit only was the food out within 20 mins, it was plated to perfection. The presentation was perfect. Not only did the food look good, it was Devine. One of the best Mac and cheeses I've ever had, so flavorful. And the catfish was fried to a crisp and that came with hush puppies. Need I say more. I was so stuffed I wanted to order beignets but I will be back soon to try those among other things. Thank you Angeline's !!!!! Kiss the chef

Solid all the way around. It's tough to find authentic NOLA food in the Bay Area. A lot of pretenders have come and gone. Even a few great places, I'm remembering Gator's in Noe Valley, couldn't survive. Maybe the Bay is just too health conscious? Regardless, I'm glad Angeline's continues to serve fabulous Cajun and Creole food year after year.Brunch is special here. A room full of folks enjoying New Orleans sounds and good grub. I got Chicken & Beignets today. As the menu proclaims, "Who needs waffles when you have beignets?" Some of the Bat Area's best fried chicken with three beignets. I got it with pure maple syrup, but you could choose the Tasso ham gravy instead. Shrimp & Grits are another brunch go-to item. Alligator Hash is something I want to try sometime when I'm feeling adventurous. Alligator is so good when it's cooked properly. Did I ever tell you about the alligator breeder? I met once. His name was Lefty...Other dishes with my star ratings:Catfish Po'Boy 5*Fried Chicken 5*Gumbo 4*Hush Puppies 5*Jambalaya 4*Ribs 4*This is the rare restaurant on the West Coast featuring Abita beers. Abita Turbo Dog 5*Friendly service, lots of seating. There's a little bit of a wait sometimes but it's worth it. Five stars for bringing the spirit of New Orleans to the Bay and serving such high-quality food consistently.

Angeline's Louisiana Kitchen, located in Downtown Berkeley just a few blocks from the Cal campus, offers a flavorful taste of the South with a welcoming ambiance. The restaurant has a brunch menu, but I opted to order from the regular menu instead.I tried the Jambalaya ($18.99), which was highly recommended over the gumbo. It had a generous portion size, plenty of spice, and well-cooked rice, making it a standout dish. The Fried Catfish ($21.99) was another highlight, served with hush puppies, tartar sauce, and sweet butter--a satisfying and hearty meal. Everything was super filling, and for the quality and portion sizes, the prices felt relatively affordable. The restaurant has plenty of tables, and during my visit over UC Berkeley's winter break, there was a relaxed atmosphere. The service was excellent--the staff was kind, accommodating, and checked in often to ensure a great experience. The decor transports you straight to New Orleans, with elements reminiscent of Mardi Gras, adding to the authenticity of the dining experience. For those looking to try something a little different, they offer unique dishes like alligator hash. Overall, Angeline's Louisiana Kitchen is a great spot for delicious Southern comfort food with attentive service and a charming atmosphere.

Angeline's is an awesome spot for southern Louisiana food. I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered to the fullest. I've never been to Louisiana, but from what the menu offers and what the waitress told us, this place seems 100% authentic. They even import beers from Louisiana to here, so you won't be able to get their signature strawberry beer anywhere else. For the food, my fsforite was the fried catfish. It was more filling than I expected. The catfish was thicc and it came with a lot of hush puppies. I'm not much of a sweets person, but the beignets were incredible. It comes out piping hot fresh. Would recommend getting this to cap off your meal. When you walk around the restaurant, you will see a lot of art from Louisiana and articles about how great this restaurant is. They stay true to their southern cuisine and theme.

We were quickly seated on a Friday night and there were still a lot of seats open. I've been here once before and opted for the gumbo which was so delicious!! This time around we ordered jambalaya, catfish, and beignets. The jambalaya was so flavorful and memorable. The catfish was also breaded perfectly and didn't taste overcooked. I enjoyed the beignets but I wish they were sold in smaller quantities because I was so stuffed after dinner! Overall a lovely experience and would recommend to anyone who loves comfort food.

Decided to take wifey out for an impromptu date night and gave them a call to see if they had seats and was in luck. Got there and was seated really quickly at a table next to the wall. Wifey ordered the Hurricane and I took a soda. We also ordered an appetizer of Hush Puppies. They were hot and fresh the butter melted into them right away. For the main dishes we ordered the Shrimp Creole and the Jambalaya. We also ordered the Mac and Cheese with bacon added to share. The food arrived very hot and was fantastic. The Jambalaya was excellent. The sauce piquant is what really made the dish for me. The Shrimp Creole was also excellent and the shrimp were big and were also in the sauce piquant. Win! The Mac and cheese was good especially with the bacon but after killing the jambalaya was not able to finish! The service was great and and they were prompt and checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Didn't have room for dessert but will definitely got back to have some beignets next time!

We dropped by for brunch on Saturday and had the best time. I was craving a sandwich, so I ordered the Catfish Po'Boy which came with a side of potato salad. The catfish was seasoned perfectly and the sandwich itself was great (would not recommend if you're not a mustard person though). Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if every single thing on the Angeline's menu was good. Definitely a Berkeley staple!

I have been wanting to try this place for forever. We called on a Saturday night and were able to get a last minute reservation. When we arrived it was pretty busy but we were seated right away. I started out trying the hurricane cocktail it was pretty good although I would have liked it to be stronger. We ordered the hush puppies with the honey butter as an appetizer. They were so delicious. I could have eaten two plates of them. I had the shrimp creole for dinner it was very good. It came with white rice and green beans. My husband ordered the jambalaya he was very happy with it I tried it also and it was very good. We also had the macaroni and cheese with bacon which was good also. I wanted to try dessert but I was too full so I will definitely be back to try more items.

Angeline's is one of my first forays into Southern comfort food that doesn't revolve around seafood boil. We came around 8 on a Wednesday evening and were seated immediately in their spacious and tastefully rustic dining area. Service was pleasant and attentive, and our food came out in 15 minutes. For the area and what we got, I'd say the price point was very reasonable. Baked Mac and Cheese: Classic starter executed deliciously. Solid crust, seasoned well, and very creamy.Baby Back Ribs: 9 gorgeously glazed, fragrant ribs that just peeled away from the bone like nothing else. These were noticeably sweeter than the barbecue ribs I've had but super succulent nonetheless. Potato salad was chunkier and palatable, but not quite my taste.Fried Catfish with Hush Puppies: Light and crunchy and fried in what might've been breadcrumb. Hush puppies were quite dense but so satisfying with the honey butter. Tartar sauce was on the thinner side and more ranch-like than anything.See you next paycheck!
